These guys define honest, quality service. They treat you like you've been a loyal customer for years, every time, even if it's your first visit. I've been here a couple times and a number of other shops around the downtown core but no one has that "friendly neighborhood mechanic" feel like these guys. I had the best auto repair experience ever. I took in my punctured tire for repair. I was told by the manager that it would be repaired during the evening and I could pick it up the following morning. When I came in to pick it up I received amazing service. I told him that I purchased all my tires for my SUV at a Kal Tire and that I would do it again. Since I just need the repair for one I my others are currently fine. He listened and let me have a complimentary repair on the house. I will be back and will tell all my friends to visit the Main Street Kal Tire. They are the best! read more

Good service. I bought tires from them and I got a screw in one the tires making it go flat slowly. Brought it in and they fixed it no charge. The tires I bought were top of the line all terrain for an SUV and were not cheap but the service makes up the difference. They will rotate and balance your wheels while you wait across the street at McDs. Only reason I didnt' give 5 star is because I called ahead and someone there said they could take care of it in an hour only to find out when I got there 20 min later that they couldn't because they got swamped. read more

TERRIBLE experience! They damaged my tires when changing from winter to summer and they lied by telling me I needed new rims. I went to another shop because I kept getting flat tires and I finally got an honest assessment: My tires had been damaged by the Kal-Tire technicians - nothing wrong with my rims! I'm just about to call them to ask for a full refund for the work they did - wish I could get additional money back for the wasted time changing flats and waiting for tire repairs. Total bullshit! So I got a flat tire today... I had to call a tow truck because I dont have a spare tire or a jack. Pretty upsetting to say the least. The tow truck took forever and when he finally got me to Kal Tire, it was about 10 minutes to closing time. They took me right in, fixed my tire and didn't charge me because I bought the tires there 2 years ago... I was floored... very nice way to end a crappy ordeal. read more

They did a full service on my sport car there, and they promised that the price will be cheaper than the dealer. It turned out to cost more than the dealer, and I had to come back 4 times so far. First, the Fuel-pump was leaking, they didn't install it right. The car was slow and smelling like gas, which could have been dangerous. After that the front brakes were squealing on stopping from very low speed (~5kph), I took it back and they said it's not the front brakes it's the back brakes and they gave me a quote to replace them, which was higher than the dealer price, so I went to the dealer and replaced the rear brakes, but the noise was still there. I took it back and left the car with them, and when I came back the car was taken by one of their technician for a long drive, with the excuse that he wanted to reproduce the problem, although another technician did the test and confirmed the problem in the parking lot of their shop. He basically took the car for a spin. And the problem is not solved, they asked me to bring the car in again, but thats it, screw their warranty, it's not worth it and they are not trust worthy. I heard similar stories from so many people who used their service, ... Don't get fooled by all the discounts they promise, they will screw you up in other items. In the end you will pay more for a bad service. read more

Great Service! Had a slow leak in my tire. Was busy when I got there but booked me in next day. They were fast and in the end they did not charge for the work and I got it fixed free. Great service and super friendly staff! I called ahead of time to see if they were busy because one of my tires was leaking and I believe I spoke with Aumar (excuse the spelling...) on the phone. He told me to just come on by. Arrived and they were able to get my car in and finished repairing the leak within 15 minutes! Aumar handled my transaction and he was really nice and easy to talk to. Plus, he gave me a free service, which I wasn't expecting at all considering how I went in 45 minutes before they closed. Plus he explained what happened to my tire as well as I am not very car-savvy, so all in all, it was a positive experience for me. Terrible experience. I bought tires here and it turns out that they were not balanced properly so I brought them back to be re-balanced. I dropped off my car and they told me to come back in an hour. I came back after 1.5 hours and asked if it was done. They said "yup!" and I got the car back. When I drove it, it didn't feel like they had balanced it at all. At the time, I thought maybe there was another issue, so I took it to Weissach for some other service and mentioned the balancing issue. They said that re-balancing should have fixed the problem but they would take another look at it. I got the car back and the vibration was gone! That's when I discovered that Kal-tire never bothered to balance it at all and only said they did. Horribly company. Would never do business with them ever again. read more

I was terribly disappointed by the service and diagnostic I received from this Kal-Tire location 2 months ago, specifically from Albert at the front reception. I had booked an appointment several days earlier for a wheel alignment. I bought new tires from a different garage and wanted to make sure my alignment was good after they were installed. I arrived at Kal Tire before my appointment time. I park my car and leave my keys with them. I am told to come back in 3 hours to pick up my vehicle. 3 hours later, I come back to see my car still park at the same location without having moved. I suspect they didn't do anything to my car even though I clearly had an appointment. I walked into the reception and asked if my car is ready. Albert tells me that he will check. He comes back and sheepishly tells me that they have not gotten to my car. Admittedly I got upset as I took several hours off work to make this appointment. Albert then generously says that he will have his mechanic work overtime and complete the alignment that day. I'm pleasantly surprised and satisfied by this action, I can understand that schedules get moved. However, 5 minutes later, Albert comes back and tells me that an alignment cannot be completed as I have a leaky suspension, and it would cost $2000 to replace all 4. I am shocked and ask to see the car. I don't have much car knowledge, but wanted to be able to double check on my own later. There were no leaks, except some dust accumulated on the suspension rod. Albert tells me that it is a sign that my suspension is completely shot and need replacement and it would be pointless to have an alignment. I later took my car to a different garage for the alignment. I didn't mention about the suspension but asked if they usually do checkups during the alignment. They said yes. After I pick up my car, they said everything looked tight and fine. I specifically enquired about a leaky suspension, they said nothing was leaky. Therefore, I conclude that this Kal Tire blatantly lied to me in order to get out of doing the work without taking responsibility that they were overbooked and couldn't get to my car. Not only that, but they made me the customer extremely worried about my car suspension, not knowing when it would blow off. This situation and behaviour is utterly unacceptable. I would never ever recommend this location, and will tell this story to whomever wants to listen. They have tarnished the Kal Tire franchise's reputation for me. For your peace of mind, you should never bring your car here. read more

I bought new tires and they failed to return the tool for removing my lug covers. When I went to tighten my lugs I could not get at them, leaving me in the middle of nowhere on a Sunday night with no ability to make my wheels safe nor replace one if I got a flat. My attempts to contact someone who could help me went on for hours, multiple phone calls, being routed through Vernon and back to Vancouver. No one in any position was able to do anything more than promise that the store itself would call me back, which they never did. Never again. read more

My vehicle was pulling to the right on highway speeds. Assuming I needed an alignment I stopped at KalTire on Main St. 15 minutes later I was told the alignment could not be completed and that I needed to replace 2 inner tie rods, replace all 4 of my tires because they were "unsafe", have an alignment and be on my way $1400+ total. I left, and was confident my tires were just fine but didn't find it unreasonable that my tie rods may need work. So I had a second opinion and was told only the passenger side needed repair and that my tires were just fine until next year. Alas, I went to the KalTire in Maple Ridge and didn't tell them about my Vancouver experience. I already had purchased the appropriate Moog part so they could install it. I got a phone call a few hours later and good news! I didn't need the tie rod replaced, only the connecting bolt had become loose and needed to be tightened and then an alignment to set things straight. $124! And nothing even mentioned about "unsafe tires" Far cry from the $1400+ It's remarkable that one location could try to put me through the ringer, and a different location be totally honest. I was disgusted and will be sharing this experience with many people, including this webform. It's hard to trust a franchise when there are bad apples to ruin it's name. Thankfully I had family with fair experiences at the Maple Ridge location to trust or they wouldn't have had my business either. When I showed the technician my Vancouver estimate after the services were complete, he was basically deer eyed and didn't know what to say other than sorry on their behalf. Received poor service from assistant manager Albert. No customer or people skills. All he wants to do is talk over the top of you not letting you speak. Loves to argue with customers. Took my car for a tire change, waited two hours and instead of changing my tire they simply installed my spare donut tire. Had to complain to head office and go back next day. Alberts attitude changed from the aforementioned to completely ignoring me. Bad experience all round. read more

Oustanding service. They're a garage that cares. I had significant wear on components for my brakes that required a complete replacement. They went above and beyond to get the work done quickly before the end of the day. But then, a blockage was detected in the brake fluid hose, and they worked longer to clear it, at no extra charge. I was in Vancouver for 2 days only when my car started making a screeching sound. I called Kal Tires and they fit me in at 3:30 on a Saturday. In 15 minutes they diagnosed the issue, fixed it and said it was no charge. I am from out of town, only here for 2 days and a woman. I had a great experience at this Kal Tire location. I was leaving for Calgary at 4am and when I got to my car that morning the tire was totally flat. I put the spare in and waited to head down when they opened at 7:30am. I got there a little early at 7am thinking I'd go grab a coffee first, but no need; they opened early. I had no appointment but they took me in immediately when they heard my story and fixed me up in 30 minutes. Turns out my valve stem had just leaked and the tire was fine. On the way out I asked how much I owed and all they did was shakeu my hand and tell me to have a safe trip back to Calgary. Class act, gentlemen. read more

Brought in my car to get my snow tires swapped over, but they managed to break the wheel bolt lock key, and were unable to remove the wheel. I was forced to bring the car to the dealer and pay for them remove the wheel, and had to buy a new wheel bolt lock key. Kal Tire offered no compensation. Poor customer service. read more

I've gone to this Kal Tire 3 times to have tires changed and twice for major repairs and every time they are beyond friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to fix the problem, keep in touch throughout the process and have been charged less than quoted. For the last repair Canadian Tire quoted at over $900 and Kal Tire quoted for around $600 and it ended up being less than $550. Couldn't recommend this location enough! read more

I brought my work van here, called in to let them know I would be dropping it and when. Dropped it off at 8am as soon as they opened. Got a phone call at 2pm from one guy leaving me a voicemail telling me they couldn't find the slow leak in my tire or the tool kit for my spare. So basically it sat there all day untouched. Then I call back to say I will come pick it up and the other person working answers and tells me they never removed the tire because it was too old. So the first guy just lied and said they couldn't find leak. When actually they didn't remove the tire. Then he told me he would sell me new tires(up selling me) only to inform me 2 minutes later that they don't even have the tires I need. Thus I drive away with my slow leak near flat same as I showed up with, they didn't even bother to put some air in it for me. Not sure what kind of tire shop it is but they proved to be beyond useless in my experience. Now I have to take another day with no work vehicle and find a shop that actually knows what they are doing and carries parts and tire kits needed for tire work. I personally found the staff unaccomodating and rude. I drove to another shop and they had my tire fixed within one hour for $28.00. If that wasn't a sure sign of what place is better I don't know what is! read more

After getting a few different opinions on whether or not we needed to get new tires, my boyfriend took our car to Kal tire. They told him only one tire needed to be replaced and it would be $124. He made an appointment for the next morning and was unable to go so I took the car. They told me it would only take 20 mins, but when I came back 40 mins later they said were unable to put in the tire my boyfriend had brought in. I explained to them for a good 10 mins that it wasn't ours (it was a Chevy rim and we have a Hyundai). They didn't believe me so I put him on the phone with my boyfriend and then when he hung up with him he let me know it wasn't my tire. (Right.) Then he tried to convince me I had an incomplete set of tires. I told him they were fine, and he wouldn't listen so I put him on the phone with my dad and then he believed me. Strike 2. After all this is tells me I need all 4 replaced for $875, after they told my boyfriend it would be $124 for the one. I asked him if he could get me a better price and he would talk about it when I brought my boyfriend back. Sad to see sexism is alive and kickin at the Kal Tire. read more
