My review is specifically about communication from the shop. I had a hair appointment with another salon scheduled for months for my birthday, but my stylist broke her ankle the day before my appointment and had to cancel. This is a week before my birthday so now I am in a panic. I call this salon and they tell me they have something Friday morning (my birthday is Saturday) so I say yes that is perfect I want it. They say okay well we usually do a consultation beforehand. I tell them I can do whenever they can get me in. So we schedule for Monday at 12:30 for my consultation and Friday at 10 for my hair appointment. The person I spoke to (front desk Amy) tells me she has everything booked for me. She asks me to send inspiration photos to a number she texts me from. I sent my inspiration photos as well as a photo of my hair how it is currently. She says perfect and that she will try to show the stylists today, but that they are pretty busy so she will let me know. This was all at 10am on Saturday March 22. I'm off my phone for a few hours after this point. Once I get back on my phone at 2:30 I see I have a missed call and a text message saying she was able to show my photos to the stylist and they know what package I would be booking for and to give them a call back to confirm. So I call back immediately upon seeing the text and am told by Amy that unfortunately someone else booked the Friday appointment and confirmed before me. What? I was under the impression that me booking a consultation, the Friday appointment, and sending my photos was my "confirmation" of the appointment, along with her telling me over the phone that she has everything "booked." I'm not understanding why the Friday appointment was even offered to another person after I had already stated that absolutely yes I wanted it, booked my consultation for Monday, and sent in my photos. I have never had work done at this salon, but this experience has been pretty negative given I was very excited to be able to get an appointment in before my birthday. I have been dealing with rapid hair thinning over the course of the past year, and was timid and scared to get any kind of cut or color. Everyone at Kalon made me feel so welcomed and at home, but I wanted to give a huge shout out to Marissa. Not only did she absolutely slay, AND push me out of my comfort level, while also making me feel sexy and confident, she went more than above and beyond by moving around her own day to give me her best work. If you're looking for color, this is THE place. Every stylist has either cute pink or blue or seafoam green hair. They clearly know their way around the dye. Marissa, my stylist and new BFF, was exceptionally friendly. She expertly covered my gray and trimmed up my edges. I was happy and I've gotten lots of compliments. The downside? When I called to schedule my appointment I was asked what I wanted. I said a cut, an eyebrow wax and a color. I explained, "I want to get as close to my natural brown but I'd like to do something fun like pink--" This is where she cut me off and told me she didn't need to know the details, I could just tell my stylist. Ok. But I was going to say I wanted pink edges. Brusque as it was I figured it was busy in the shop. No biggie. Well, it was kind of a biggie cause when I arrived and explained to Marissa what I wanted to do, she said, "That's great! We can totally do pink for you at your next visit since you're not scheduled for that much time today." So no pink edges for me. A disappointment but not the end of the world. I'll make sure the receptionist understands everything I want next time. At the end of my cut and color, Marissa helped me gather my things--I assumed she was walking me over to get my eyebrows done. Nope! She walked me to the register so I could settle up. I listened as she pulled my record of services and said to the receptionist, "We didn't do that and, um, we only did half of that." So I'm not sure what happened there. The main takeaways are: talented, friendly stylists, but they may need someone paying closer attention to the schedule. Oh and I had literal globs of dye on my forehead and around my ears. Marissa told me to use nail polish remover when I got home. Small wipes or attention to those spots at the time of service would make the experience feel more professional. So there's that, BUT I'm sticking with my good vibes. I've been going to this Salon since they opened almost 4 years ago. Kimmie does my cut and color every time. The girls are so friendly and sweet and are always so chill when I have to bring my toddler in and he just loves to ham it up with all of them. Kimmie always finds new ways to cut and style my short hair that I love. I give her every little direction every time and each time the cut is always exactly what I'm looking for. They've moved to a temporary place right now and they did a great job of making it feel artsy and homey. We love this salon and the people in it! read more

I had a great experience at Kalon yesterday! Since moving from Chicago I have had a very difficult time finding a salon that can deliver when it comes to color and service. I visited Kelsey yesterday at their temporary location and I love my color,cut and the style!!! They also surprised me with 20% off for my first visit. I have visited several other salons and instead of listening to what I wanted they did what they wanted. I truly got what I wanted at Kalon and I will def be back! I cannot wait to see their new location! read more

I came to Kalon hair lab yesterday and got my hair cut and bleached. I absolutely love they way my hair turned out. The cut is so cute and she managed to get my hair at a cute blonde without damaging my hair (I have dark brown hair) I would definitely recommend coming here!! read more

This was my first visit to Kalon hair lab . Kelsey Frederick Styled my hair beautifully ! Unfortunately I can't afford to nor have I ever paid $ 201.00 plus tip for a hair style. The girls working were very friendly but I felt like I was in everyone's way. I've been going to Kimmie for 3 years now but all the stylists are incredibly talented and work hard to master their skills. they always have refreshments, a family/friendly environment, and do LITERALLY EVERYTHING to make sure you're happy and comfortable. in the 3 years of being a client, I've never once left unhappy with my hair and always felt beautiful and taken care of. I wasn't too happy about my experience here. When I arrived for my appointment the girls in the front were friendly. I was never asked if I needed anything or if things were to my liking by the stylist ie is the water okay/a good temperature while rinsing product out. Then my hairdresser started cutting my hair without ever once asking me how I wanted it or how short I was wanting to go. This threw me off completely! I had her stop and tried to tell her where I wanted it. Somehow the front of my hair was close to where I wanted it but the back she cut shorter than the rest. This was absolutely not what I wanted! And for the amount of money I spent I would have liked for my hair to be cut accordingly. It was only a few inches I wanted off. I will never be returning here. read more

This salon has inexperienced stylists, I came in wanting to get my hair dyed and I had a picture as a example. I asked if getting this certain color is possible and my stylist said it was. Not only did I ask if it could be done but I was continuously told that it would work out perfectly! My stylist even needed help with choosing developers and mixing hair color. Not only that but during the process of drying my hair out and waiting for results, my stylist told me that it's going to be a "little" darker than the picture I showed in the beginning. Turns out I now have blacker hair with random red all around! On top of that I stated I didn't like it and showed them the picture of what I wanted to compare and they said I could come in to get it done tomorrow again, (bleach the fuck out of my hair again) with no charge and now it is the next day, I called to talk to the stylist about it and they blocked my number. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE! GO TO AN ACTUAL AVEDA SALON! read more
