I came to Kamaka Air Cargo to ship thing to my parents who live on Lāna'i. Both time I've been here the workers have been really nice and helpful! They were very professional and really fast pace. Both times I came I was literally in and out within 10 minutes, which was perfect because I came right before I headed into work in downtown. I like the convenience of shipping with Kamaka Air. They provide same day delivery to outer island. On Lāna'i, they even deliver your delivery right to your house. They handle your delivery carefully throughout and haven't had a complaint from my parents about any damaged deliveries. Will for sure come to Kamaka Air for any future deliveries. I've lived in Hawaii for nearly 5 years now and it only just occurred to me that I could buy local from neighbor islands. I'm probably late to the game in this case, but here we are. I learned of Kamaka Air Cargo from Moloka'i Livestock Cooperative. That business runs a grass-fed beef farm on Moloka'i, and ships throughout the islands. I was looking for some local beef to make Beef Wellington for Christmas dinner, so, here we are! Following the roads deep into the cargo area of HNL, you happen upon a humble hangar nestled among the large cargo carriers and private jets. With a single-engine propeller, these people are moving local goods across the islands. What a cool job! I parked in one of the several designated parking spots right in front of the hangar, and after a brief wait while a couple ahead of me, with their dog, appeared to be shipping furniture to another island, it was my turn. After a quick exchange of name, and a signature, I was on my way with four pounds of filet mignon - still frozen!! -- and heading home. To accommodate the various shipping needs, like my meat, they are able to refrigerate incoming (and presumably outgoing) goods. My meat arrived around noon and was still frozen when I picked it up around 4 the same day. It makes a lot of sense for small local shippers that can get things quickly and flexibly from one island to another. These guys seem to set the standard for doing that well. Thanks to Sergio on Lanai. I'm now scrambling to find a way to get my freight to Oahu. I called him on Saturday morning to schedule for Monday. He told me to call at 6:30am to confirm. After 3 phone calls. I was told that he couldn't find me, and I had missed the flight time. Never had issues before. But this last minute mess up is unacceptable. On a side note. When I went to drop off my boxes there was someone to help unload and bring them into the hanger. I would say that I had a pretty nice first time pleasant experience doing business with Kamaka Air. So I wanted to ship out a large freight out to the neighbor isles (specifically Molokai) and I found out this is was one of the only air cargo places that could do it. They are located right at the end of Lagoon Dr. next to the FedEx place when you turn into the round about. There is a decent amount of parking in the parking lot. It is hardly busy so I do not think you have to worry about traffic flow or anything, after all it is located all the way through the end of Lagoon Dr. Anyways, you will see a sign and will have to enter from the shack area to get started. The paperwork is fairly easy, just to, where, and from and that's about it. Depending on the size and weight of your freight, prices kinda vary. But let's just say that something that would cost about 40 something via Hawaiian Air Cargo, would only cost 25 something via Kamaka Air. So I was pretty satisfied with the pricing. If you ship to Molokai, they can hand it out directly to the address you put so that is pretty cool. However, shipping back home like for example back to O'ahu can kinda be interesting. In Molokai, I found out that they do not have an office or anything so you have to kind call the Kamaka Air representative handling the cargo. So yeah, communication is important especially if you are out of O'ahu. Anyways, coming back home and getting my freight back in one peace was good. They call you and keep you in check of you cargo as well. read more

The phone quote was friendly but I was quoted 52 cents a lb when the actual price was 56 cents a pound. Neither price mattered since I was charged a dimensional weight which was never mentioned over the phone. Of course the dimensional weight is more expensive but not that big of a deal. Then the delivery on Molokai. I'm on Oahu and my wife is in Molokai. The deliverer decides to call my cell which is an out of state area code and not the local number I listed on the order slip. I call the driver back two minutes later and there is no answer so I leave a message. I call him six more times over the course of 30 minutes and text the directions. (FYI Kamaka air has already delivered to my location twice on Molokai.) I finally call my wife and ask her to call from the house phone which has a Molokai number. Lo and behold the driver answers thes phone and tells my wife he's back in town but dropped the tires off at house up the block and lets her know "she can go get them". Mind you town is all of four miles away from my house. My wife drives up the block and discovers the tires are behind a fence. So my wife has to squeeze through a gate and then push the tires out through the slats. Mind you tires aren't the heaviest thing in the world but my wife is a small person and she shouldn't be lifting them in the first place when I've paid for that service. Not to mention Kamaka Airs Motto is "superior customer service" So I call the superior customer service on Oahu and get a nonchalant sorry. Here is the Molokai supervisor number. I call the Molokai supervisor and was informed that they've had these problems and the driver has a bad cell phone. Um okay, get a better cell phone for the driver and make sure the driver delivers to the right place. I also recommended a location on their order slip were the customer could list the directions and any special instructions.
