Disappointed with recent pricing. I've used Ship to Hawaii in the past for things like automotive rims, etc. When FedEx and UPS was about $4/lb, Ship to Hawaii was a better deal at about $3/lb. On my most recent shipment, the cost from Washington State from the vendor was $212 via FedEx 2 day. I figured Ship to Hawaii would be less expensive, but I was quoted $286. In the future, I will try to find out the exact dimensions and weight prior to shipping at item to their warehouse. A classic bait and switch. They give you an initial quote based on actual dimensions and weight of the item that's being shipped. Once they receive the item they double your shipping cost. In my case it went from $380 to 680. I quickly called the company that I purchased the products from and asked for a return shipment labels. Wendy, who is the lady who I was talking to was very rude. So far simple, i contacted Mrs Alissa Fuku-somthing. I simply asked for the address for her California based warehouse so i can coordinate the delivery to them for shipping, again simple right? I used their services before and it was fine. I recently had an Amazon package shipped there and I noticed it never got to me here in Hawaii. I called the customer service number and was informed that they are no longer at the address in Carson California anymore. I never received any email from them stating that they were not in that location anymore. That is very unprofessional to not send out any emails stating that they have moved. I just used ShipToHawaii for the first time to have a Zupapa trampoline shipped out to us. Both companies did a phenomenal job of communicating with me. ShipToHawaii let me know when they'd received the package (I got delivery confirmation from FedEx on 6/2, and ShipToHawaii notified me that they received the package on 6/7), and they requested that I confirm the shipping charge before they charged my card and loaded my shipment. The final charge was actually slightly lower than what I'd originally been quoted. My package arrived in Hawaii on 6/17, but it was after will call hours, so I had to pick it up the following week. Pickup was simple, and everyone was quick and professional. The only improvement I'd prefer is that their website tracking feature was more accurate. It never updated when my package actually shipped, so I thought it was still waiting to be loaded in Carson, California. I still LOVE this business and the concept behind it. Read my previous review for more details, but I brought over an IKEA queen size bed frame with drawers, a coffee table, and a couch for around $400. Yes, it seems like a bunch of money to spend on shipping, but when you factor in the cost of the furniture and the cost for IKEA, you really do end up with nice looking stuff for less than that you would pay at other local furniture stores. Also, just a tip, but even when a business gives you an expected delivery date and says they will email you when it arrives, always be proactive and call yourself to check. Ship to Hawaii has been great with all three of my shipments, but to save yourself the time of waiting around beyond the delivery date and getting frustrated, call to check. One delivery was 2 days past and they went to check the warehouse and it had just arrived and was being checked in. So...while no business is perfect and it seems like some reviewers may have had some issues with on-time delivery, be cautious with your shipping service and do your fair share of legwork and research. I never got to use this service due their existing policy of not shipping electronics. I had ordered a solid body bass guitar from a New York company that would not ship outside the continental US. Based on what I saw on the TV ads, Ship to Hawaii was the first company I called. Spoke to their customer service rep who informed me that they do not ship electronic devices. I tried explaining that there were very minimal electronics in the guitar itself but response was "sorry that's our policy". I can understand the risk of shipping delicate electronic devices, but don't understand why electric guitars and basses, which are 99% made of wood, wouldn't qualify for shipment. However it all worked out for me in the end, I ended up using UPS, who did an EXCELLENT job in getting my order to me, providing me with an app to track my package every step of the way. It arrived within 2 days with a very fair price. I hope that Ship to Hawaii would do some research on this before denying future orders I'd like nothing more than to support Local first. read more

Let me start off by saying I have not used STH...yet. I'm hoping that MAYBE they'll be a little more informative and friendly so I'd want to use them. I emailed STH a few months ago to ask about getting some IKEA furniture shipped to me. I received a less than informative email saying I need to provide all the specs - size, weight, etc. and then make I send the items to their California warehouse to be shipped. Wait, what?? What warehouse? Where? All of this made me somewhat frustrated with their procedure. Why not explain plainly that I need to find an IKEA near their warehouse (and proving an address would've been helpful) and also get the specs. Guess giving them the IKEA stock # isn't enough so basically you (the customer) do all of the work and they just ship. My BF and I used Ship to Hawaii services a couple of time, and we are really happy about it. Since Hawaii is missing a few big retail names (overstock, Ikea) that do not want to ship to Hawaii yet (or for double the price of the merchandise), Ship to Hawaii is a little gem we found. It is a company that has a drop off location in California (LA area), and they take care of shipping your stuff over to Hawaii. We bought an accent chair, three footstools and two rugs on overstock, and it cost about $100 to ship it all. Also when I moved back to Hawaii, I had 4 huge boxes (the XL ones) from UHaul, and total was $200 to ship it over (I weighted it afterwards, it was a total of 200 pounds!). I think it is very moderately priced, and super convenient. It is also fast. Both time, it came via boat, and only took about four days to come ! Now, this is a business I wish I had thought of! Have you ever ordered anything from an online store on the mainland only to find that the shipping is as much as the item itself? Numerous times I have bought something and the only option is FedEx overnight shipping or the online store does not even ship to Hawaii. The annual membership is cheap ($20 or $75 per year) and then you pay by the pound for anything shipped for you. All of your shipments are sent to a drop location in LA and then shipped to a pickup location in Honolulu. My first purchase (a computer monitor) saved me my entire sign-up fee for 3 years! One thing you might need to do is to have their drop-off point in LA listed as a valid address on your credit card. Otherwise, the purchase might not be allowed by your credit card company. read more

Absolutely the worst customer service! Do not use the "shipping calculator" it is only an estimate. They lost my item in their freight forwarding facility in Carson, CA for almost a month. Then they lied about it and tried to blame the delivery company who picked up the item from the manufacturer in California and delivered it to Carson, CA. We are so limited here in Hawaii if we want to ship items purchased on the mainland or elsewhere, and STH has a stellar reputation. I am not one to leave bad reviews. This is my first. The stress and constant back and forth with STH in trying to locate my item, despite having a POD (proof of delivery) slip from the delivery company was bad enough! Then to be charged almost double what the shipping estimator calculated was maddening. The representative "assisting" me through this was caught in a lie, unprofessional, and rude. This was my first time using Ship To Hawaii. I'm also late with this review but I wanted to make sure I express just the right words for my appreciation of their services. For my first time, I had a little bit challenging experience. To make this story short, the mainland arrangements notified that my package was delivered to the warehouse but then later was not able to be located. It had seemed my package was lost and no further details on delivery was available. The STH team was on it right away. They reached out to their mainland contacts sharing delivery details and anything else they were able to find. It still didn't seem there was any good updates and still no further delivery info. Ultimately, my package was placed as "priority". During this whole ordeal, the best part was the STH team made sure to keep in touch with me through both phone and email. They also provided assurance through their customer service. Soon enough, the package was finally located and already on its way to Hawaii. I was notified when the package was already at the Honolulu facility and ready to be picked up. Pick up and checkout was smooth and fast. I definitely recommend Ship To Hawaii and I am also sure to be using their services again in the near future. If I could, I would rate this company negative stars. I have been using Ship To Hawaii for years and have never had any issues. I recently had (2) orders of wine shipped to their Carson, CA warehouse for them to air freight over to Honolulu (mind you i have been doing this for over 3 years and NEVER had any issues). They recently added alcohol to their prohibited items list due to federal regulations and will not air freight the packages of wine to Honolulu. - First off, I was NEVER notified of this change in prohibited items. Not in an email, phone call, announcement, nothing. There even isnt anything on their website noting this change. you actually have to search for the prohibited items list to see that its there. - I would have NEVER shipped these packages through them knowing that I would not be able to bring them all the way to Honolulu. - I am not upset at all about them not being able to ship the wine because of the added regulations about shipping alcohol to Honolulu. I am upset that i was never notified and that Ship to Hawaii is expecting me to have the items shipped back to the retailer I bought them from. - Ship to Hawaii's best response to the situation was to have ME send them return authorization forms within (5) days otherwise they will dispose of the packages. AND the only way i found this out was because I had to email them asking where my packages were. If i wouldnt contacted them, I would have never known and lost out on the packages!!!!!! This is insane! Each package is valued at at least $300 and they werent even going to let me know that they were going to dispose of them! - I asked their upper management to give me a call and the best they could do was email me saying the same thing. My 3 over-sized boxes of Acoustic Panels for my recording studio (243 pounds total) arrived from FedEx at their warehouse in LA damaged. They were kind enough to take extensive pictures for me, hold on to my packages while I checked with the sender + FedEx and they even re-taped / re-secured the boxes so well that it almost didn't look damaged. I called 4 times. people took the information, said they would call back. they never contacted me. The 5th time I called., someone called back that the package in in their warehouse on Nimitz. I have found this business to be of poor character and unreliable. I used Ship To Hawaii several times, and although I was very hopeful and gave them every opportunity to prove themselves, I never really had a good experience. The first time I ordered something shipped through STH I didn't receive any notification of arrival. I didn't really know what to expect, so I waited patiently, and when I finally called to inquire they were rude and hostile on the phone and told me in the future they would charge me storage (for a 3" x 7" package) because it had been more than three days since arrival. The second time I used their service they did notify me of arrival by email, but when I drove down to pick up my package they could not find it. They had me sit on their loading dock for nearly an hour. Watching their operation I could see why they might have a hard time finding my small package, because most of what they are handling appears to be shrinkwrapped pallets of goods destined for retail businesses. Finally a woman came out and thrust the package at me and walked away without a word. The final attempt was just one month later. Once again, I was patient when I didn't receive any notice of my package, but ultimately called to inquire. This time a very pleasant man took my information but could not find any record of the shipment being received. The sender provided a FedEx tracking number, and FedEx had a signature for delivery, so I gave STH the tracking number. Turns out STH had changed their California receiving address without emailing or writing to their customers with notification. In fact they had already changed their address one month earlier, when I picked up my previous package, but didn't bother to mention it to me. So no email, no mail, no text, no phone call, no personal communication when I picked up a package at their offices, no posted notice in any of the areas that I visited, nothing on the computerized sign-in system and nothing on the paper sign-in sheet at their office. No notification whatsoever. They were unable to find the person who signed for the package and they just said "sorry, your package is lost." and hung up. I emailed them pointing out that it was due to their "failure to notify" that the package was addressed to an address that was no longer valid, and that I was surprised they had made no forwarding arrangements with FedEx, and I believed they should take responsibility and cover the cost of the lost shipment (less than $200). Their response really surprised me. They refused to take any responsibility, did a lot of finger-pointing, and actually tried to get me to file a false claim with the vendor stating that the package was never delivered. However, the vendor has FedEx signature proof that it was delivered to the address given, so this is just asking me to commit obvious fraud. I told them that if they expect to stay in business they need to manage their moves better and they need to take responsibility when they lose a customer's shipment. I received a very snippy note from some woman telling me that this was my fault for not verifying that their address was the same as it had been one month earlier, and that they would do me a huge favor just this once and pay for half the loss if I submitted receipts etc. OK, this wasn't really a lot of money -- less than $200 -- but it was certainly enough to make me feel bad about these folks. If I have time I'll file in small claims court and if I were to do so there is no doubt I'd get my loss covered, but really, who has time for that? Bottom line: if you want to use ShipToHawaii, be sure you have good insurance that will cover all of the myriad ways they can lose or damage your stuff, because they certainly won't take any responsibility for their mistakes. I've decided to try zipshippingservice_dot_com. It's not exactly the same concept because they are more oriented to packages of a size that can by shipped by US Priority Mail rather than larger freight items. If I need larger items shipped I'll use a legitimate shipping company like DHX. I just don't have time to deal with a company like ShipToHawaii that has such poor business practices, and I hate to support a business that would try to shaft both a customer and another small vendor in this way. Great company, excellent customer service. Fast and affordable. I had furniture shipped from an online company that doesn't ship to Hawaii. I thought it would be expensive and complex. It was simple. Took only a week from the time the package was received at their California warehouse to the time it was ready for pickup in Honolulu! I compared rates with other shippers, and the price beat all other estimates. In some cases, the cost may even be better than the shipping surcharge that you have to pay to ship large items to Hawaii from companies that do offer shipping to the islands. Although they don't offer door-to-door service, if you have a truck and can pick it up, it can save you hundreds. The guys at the warehouse are friendly and loaded everything to my car. I was looking to buy my own personal set of Pilates reformer straps since who knows what kind of grime lurks on the ones at the studio. Unfortunately, the distributor in California will not ship this box weighing less than two pounds to Hawaii. I decided to give Ship To Hawaii's airfreight service a try, after using their cost estimator and finding that it would cost me less to get it sent here than the distributor charged me to FedEx it from California...to California. Ship To Hawaii has three membership options, business, small shipper and the FREE membership (just a surcharge on your actual freight cost) for those who ship less than 200 pounds annually. Sweet! The only caveat is that Ship To Hawaii requires your membership number on the parcel in order for it to flow through the system. Without this information, your package will be held up at the warehouse. It you are expecting a shipment it would be diligent to follow its progress on the website and contact customer service if there is no forward progress. I used my member ID when ordering the item but the shipper still put my name on it, but luckily included my membership number as a secondary address line. Ship To Hawaii was an excellent alternative to begging family and friends on the mainland to be your freight forwarder, a lot faster and cheaper too. Oh yeah...love their logo too! read more

Heard about this company from an ad on t.v. and thought it was a great idea. As a business owner, I often times have to pay more for a product from the mainland because the company offering the less expensive one won't ship to HI. and I do a fair amount of ordering over the course of a year, Decided to try Ship to Hawaii, and although there was a glitch in my orders, once I contacted them they were very helpful in sorting the problem out, and my packages are now on there way here. I have had most of my car parts shipped to me via this company for a fraction of the cost of the company i bought it from. I even had a complete super charger system shipped to me for less than 50% of the shipping i was quoted by the company. I was very nervous about having some company handling my large, pricey shipment. None of the freight forwarders I called made me comfortable, but when I called Ship to Hawaii, I was blown away by their vast experience in handling Ikea orders and their friendliness and professionalism. They advised me on important things, such as asking Ikea to add extra bubble wrap on the shipment since they normally don't package well and much more.
