I'm so glad to see the kaleidoscope of prior reviews which taken as a whole save me a lot of negative verbiage. Collectively, they present an entity dishonest in almost every imaginable way, sleazy to the hilt, making a business of deception, coupled with inherent meanness. Don't even think to "reserve a phone"...not as yet mentioned...a pet trick to get you on and shill the bid so quickly you'd think you were bidding on the Holy Grail...before you know it, they've shilled you to a level where you'd never dreamt to be-and of course, you've won! If it isn't a fake or reproduction, it's broken or mis-described-often both, all photographed in a manner that would have you believe every offering perfect, with the sole purpose of fleecing unwary bidders by promising something other than what it is. Terrible, dishonest auctioneer. The reviews saying that there are good deals to be found here have just been lucky. Third or fourth time shopping there, owner literally scammed me out of thousands of dollars, sending a fake, partial item with my shipper and then asking me for double the money to get the rest of my purchase. Think about that. I doubt he even had the actual piece as advertised. he just wanted to get a ransom out of me before he blocked me. When he saw that he couldnt get any more money out of me, he blocked me and left me hanging with garbage. Then he went to LiveAuctioneers, lied about me and got my whole LiveAuctioneers account banned. An account I've had for years and spent 100s of thousands of dollars buying from across he glove. If you shop here, you are playing with fire. It's not a real deal you are getting. You are going to pay big time on the back end. Buyer beware. read more

Pros: I live in Philly so it's close by. Their building is very cool. I've bought a painting and chandelier in the past that were great! Cons: Buyer-beware attitude. I just bought an expensive antique rug from them and it was covered in cat hair, plus as a bonus, pee and poop! My dog went crazy when I bought the rug home (all rolled up and tied up so I couldn't see the true state of things) which was a little suspicious. I unrolled the rug and holy cow! Super gross. Of course their pictures shown none of this and their description is glowing. Yes, I contacted them (hi Devin!) and they said "to bad" ..I should have done my due diligence and asked for a "condition report." So word to the wise: if you are interested in buying something from Kamelot, ask them if there's any animal shit on it. That cool mid-century credenza - maybe there's shit in the drawer. Or that victorian sofa - maybe there's a dead cat sewn into the cushions. Not their problem if you don't ask! read more

Bidder/buyer BEWARE. A lot of the things they are auctioning (which I suspect they mostly own outright) are reproductions being sold as the real thing, ie. they are FAKES. Even if you don't care, everything is grossly mis-represented in their descriptions, condition reports (if you can get one!) and heavily photoshopped images, and they deliberately make it impossible to get better pictures so that you cannot get a real sense of what things look like and bid blindly. I would warn anyone to avoid dealing with this auction house. Read other reviews, it seems not many people have had a good experience dealing with them. read more

Just received a sideboard from Kamelot. The condition of the piece was grossly mis-represented in their description. The top of the of the sideboard has several very large dents along with numerous deep scratches. Because the piece is a veneer (also undisclosed) the options for repair are limited. But wait! It gets better: each door and drawer has one of those old timey barrel key locks on it. And...the piece came without the key!! The delivery driver said he asked Kamelot about the missing but they just said, "Don't have it. Sold as is." So okay, I could live without a key I suppose...BUT ONE OF THE CABINET DOORS IS LOCKED!!! Finally, it's obvious that each cabinet in this piece had a shelf. So far it's missing one of the shelves and I still don't know what's in the LOCKED cabinet. Never again! These guys are complete shysters. Buy beware. Or more accurately: buyer steer clear of these pirates. read more

Update, I bought a statue. It was photographed in their online catalog showed the piece in berfect condition. Upon delivery the fingers were broken off! I called and explained the sistuation. The morons said I should have requested a condition report. I explained, it's like speaking with a student from a remedial school. Too bad. I should have learned my lesson! Never again! read more

Pros: There are some good deals to be had. If you live in the Philly area, can preview online, and then go see the item in person, you might end up with something you like at a fair price. Cons: They have a lot of junk. The pieces online look 100 times nicer than in person. I would never, ever purchase something from here without first seeing it in person. I have found many items online that I fell in love with but when I went to preview them realized they were flimsy Goodwill type items. The showroom is pretty disorganized. They had an item for auction that I really wanted to look at but said it was too buried for them to find. Well, then don't list it in your catalog. Each round of auctions they said they would find it, but never did. True, this place seems not to care very much about customer service. You always get the feeling that someone more important than you is their priority. That said, I have two large antique mirrors from Kamelot that I love. They have chips on them for sure. If they were nicer, they would probably be in a higher end auction house and I wouldn't be able to afford them. So, there is a benefit to this rag tag operation that offers not the highest quality goods. read more

NEVER EVER USE THEM! After you read this post, you will understand why. We were moving from our 6,000sqf house to a condo. Kamelot was recommended to us by Moving Solutions. They are a "high end" auction house. What a joke. They wanted our high end furniture, antiques and origional paintings but sold them at flea market prices. We were sick to oiur stomachs when we started getting results back on our items. An antique Grandfather clock from France which we bought for $3,000 ,was sold for $200. A Stickley king bedroom set with armoire,blanket chest, side tables, lamps and head and foot board sold for less than a $1000. The bedframe used is $6-8,000. Origional paintings signed that we paid anywhere from $5,000-$2,000 sold between $400-$100. The list goes on and on! Before we let them take our things I asked Tim if he thought our paintings woud sell for less than $2k and he said absolutely not. In the end we decided not to give him a few pieces of furniture and a few paintings but that did not make up for the loss we suffered.They even charge you $25/item no matter how much it costs ,to put it on he internet. What a rip off. When we looked at our results, I called and told them how upset we were at the auction prices ( no rersponse ) and we wanted anything they had left of ours. They had 2 items left. We actually had to pay them fees to get these items back!! Never ,ever use this auction house . They are untrustworthy and suspect they probably had people buy our items at garage sale prices and resold them for a profit. Or they are just a bad auction house whose appraisers have no idea what items are worth. I have told other people about our experience. Either sell your items yourself,keep them, donate them to people who really need them, or interview different auction places and make sure you can set a minimum bid. If you do not know what things are worth get them appraised by a certified ,well trained appraiser. After we moved to Philadelphia, I called a large appraisal /auction group here that has locations in many states and told them what happened. The woman I spoke to was trained at Harvard, Paris and Switzerland. We actually brought over 3 items we did not give to Kamelot and thet sold between $2-5k, which is what we expected. We should have investigated this buisness before entrusting them with our items. This is one of the most devistating experiences we have been though. read more

First I would like to say I've bought some beautiful things here but ...there is a but....the customer service is perhaps the worst I've ever seen. Here's why: Purchased a bunch of stuff last year for a couple / few thousand dollars including a lot of small items for just over $400. When I picked up the items a VERY disinterested young man with a "whatever" attitude brought me the pieces already packed in boxes. He looked as if he just got done smoking a bl**t but who am I to judge?! Got home, and unpacked. Some very nice things and I was quite happy until............ The $400 lot was LESS THAN HALF of what I bought. What I received was a box of crummy broken depression glass and related souvenir garbage but anything good...all of which were pictured on live auctioneers...was missing. YES there were good things in the lot or I wouldn't have bought it. So I called the auction house. After a week or more they did call back and YES, they found the rest of the lot! Apparently there were two boxes but Mr. Hipster Steampunk Attitude didn't look for it to begin with...OR CARE TO. So the lovely young lady receptionist said "we will of course ship these items right out to you pronto" or something to that effect. I waited...looked out my window every day as a lone tear slowly krept down my cheek but nothing! So sad. Well, just about a year went by. I dunno maybe ten months. Actually forgot I even bought the stuff or had a shipment coming...WHICH, YOU GUESSED IT, NEVER CAME. What made me remember? I was searching through ebay a couple weeks ago and came across a Chinese Jade archaic amulet in a broken paper silk covered box. I thought.."boy, that sure looks familiar!" ..."In fact, it looks VERY familiar...like I've seen it before or even owned it!" ( I looked at it again and again and looked on live auctioneers at the lot I bought and SURE ENOUGH...it was the SAME PIECE in the lot but never shipped to me as promised. Turns out the piece was purchased by the ebay seller at a local auction and was consigned by Kamelot. I have links and all kinds of good stuff if anyone wants proof!! Oh, I did call Kamelot five or six times, no answer, leave a message. I heard they are in the process of moving. Well that's all fine and good but...seriously?! I don't like giving this sort of rant to people I've known and respected for years...but seriously...WHAT KIND OF RIP OFF IS THIS?!!! more like KAMEL-NOT! Beware Kamelot catalog and condition information. Do not bid unless personally viewed. Stated watch was a replica, but have no watch experts on staff to speak with. Also stated watch was solid 14K gold and all calendar pushers functioned. Neither were true and several bidders were motivated to bid on this "sleeper". Refused to make restitution when found out the condition information was false. read more

We have purchased with Kamelot several times over the past couple of years. We are always please with the quality of the items we purchase as well as the service we get from Kamelots staff. We recently had a mishap with a missing section of a chandelier we purchased a few months earlier, the missing part had gone unnoticed ( very large chandelier was taken apart for transport.) The part was very important to the structure of the fixture. We called Kamelot and even though it had been quite some time since the auction, Mary went looking for us and found the piece! We are very pleased with Kamelots service and will continue to purchase through them. read more

I bought number of items from this auction house. The auctions themselves are eclectic and interesting. I have also had the opportunity to tour the warehouse space in which the items, and the auction, is held. I met a number of the staff who were professional and knowledgeable. The same staff who were both apologetic and sympathetic when it came to the issue I had with my purchase: I purchased mid century cabinets containing glass shelves. I collected the items from the auction house outside Philadelphia but once I got them home i learned that the locks to each cabinet were missing the key. The cabinets were part glass and designed to be secure when the locks were closed. I promptly contacted the auction house and, after numerous calls over a period of a week, someone returned my call. This person has spoken to an owner of the company who stated "this is a condition issue and the cabinets were photographed with the doors closed and that should have alerted a potential buyer to the fact that there were no keys." Ridiculous! I knew they had the keys a one time because the glass shelves were removed for delivery. I suggested a reduction in price, to split the cost of a locksmith, or the return of the purchase. All these were refused. They only reason they received one star is because of the staff who seemed sympathetic and whom I believe tried to advocate on my behalf. read more

I've been buying from these guys for many years and they are a rough and tumble auction house that supplies many of the best antiques dealers in the area. I would say that if you are not prepared to preview your items or handle the shipping yourself to stay away. This is not Christies. That having been said, I've gotten some of the best deals here and rely heavily on their great variety of merchandise for my own antiques business. One of the best pieces I own, an 18th century provincial buffet a deux corps in pine (only one I've ever seen like this) I bought for $750. I love it. Sure they piss me off once in a while, but they make up for any issue the next time you're there. I wish there were more places like this. read more

Great inventory! I recently re designed my garden and was in the market for some furniture, decorative bench and statuary. There was plenty to choose from...I had my eye on these great bronze herons...unfortunately I was outbid..(a lot of interest in the same item!) I was successful with the perfect marble bench as well as a wrought iron set of chairs. I was not at pickup but my husband said there were two men available to help him load and making payment was quick and easy. I will definitely be back! read more

I am writing this review because I too had a horrendous experience attempting to collect a chandelier which I purchased from Kamelot and which was supposed to be delivered by Antique Transport (a shipping company owned, it seems, by one of the owners of Kamelot). I bought the chandelier in February - in cash, no less - and made literally dozens of attempts to arrange to get the chandelier, with emails and phone calls going unanswered 95% of the time, and with with vague promises, the other 5% of the time, that they would be getting back to me soon to make delivery arrangements. (Even the secretaries at Kamelot seemed to be aware that someting was wrong, as they grew increasingly evasive every time I called back again, trying to get an answer about the whereabouts of my chandelier). I finally had to get a lawyer involved, and just last week, six months after I paid cash for my chandelier, I finally received the item. But between the expense of the lawyer and the fact that I had to buy another chandelier in the interim, I am still out of pocket by A LOT of money, and am exceedingly unhappy about it. This was without question the single worst customer-service experience I have ever had. I will never again do business with Kamelot or Antique Transport - something very shady is going on there and I think they must just count on people giving up on ever receiving their items, so that those same items can be relisted/resold multiple times. read more
