10 stars! We were searching for a custom wooden dining table base for our stone tabletop (purchased elsewhere), and Paul and the Philadelphia Table Company were simply a pleasure to work with. We had a very specific idea of a design we wanted, and they executed! We showed them a photograph of a base found at a big-box store, and Paul and the team recreated it for us. I'll be honest - I ask a LOT of questions, and struggle with not controlling every aspect of the process. Every email and DM that I sent over (which, were multiple, I assure you) were promptly and thoroughly answered, with the upmost professionalism and enthusiasm. For stain colors, I was having trouble visualizing the stains in our space, and the team mailed over physical samples for us to look at. They continued to update us during the build process, showed us mock-up photos, and even worked with us to change the design slightly, at my request. The obvious best/most important factor is that the table base was everything we hoped for. The piece is stunning, sturdy, and perfect - it's very clear the team takes pride in their craft. Delivery was a breeze, and was super fast and efficient. My only regret is that we don't have a need for anymore furniture right now! Would absolutely recommend Philadelphia Table Company to anyone looking for beautiful furniture, made to last! *Note: We never stepped foot in their show room, nor met with Paul or his team in person, due to Covid19. My husband and I were in the market for a new dining table for our South Philly rowhome and I stumbled upon Paul and his business on Instagram. They had recently made some furniture pieces for a local hotel that were beautiful and caught my eye. I reached out to Paul with a photo of an antique French farm table and asked if he could replicate the design and look of the table. He took on the challenge and the end result was gorgeous! He was able to source the wood that matched the photo most accurately and gave attention to adding in some "antiqued-looking" details. Paul was easy to work with and very communicative throughout the whole process. We had been searching for a dining room table that would not only fit in our south philly row home, but one that didn't scream "IKEA" or "Raymour & Flanigan." I had an idea of turning a cool antique door into a table, but no idea how to start. Enter Paul and his amazing crew. He loved the idea, and suggested making a frame of reclaimed wood from the historic Lincoln Train Shed, topped with glass. Paul also put in extra time and research to find the best glass option for us. He even had the foresight to design the table so we could someday easily remove the door if we wanted, but retain a wood/glass table. We started out with hairpin legs but after a few weeks of use, Paul was more than happy to build us a new frame with wooden legs and make the swap. I didn't know what to expect to pay for a custom table, but it was significantly less than what R&F charged for a bland, cookie cutter factory made set. He and his crew are so great to work with, all very professional and clearly love what they do. They listened to what we wanted/needed and were flexible if we requested changes. I love that we own a unique piece of furniture locally built with artistry and craftsmanship, and that we got to be a part of its concept and design. It's better than I had ever imagined. The door is from the Midwest like me, the wood frame is from philly like my boyfriend, and put together as a table, it has made our home, ours. THAT is why you get a piece custom made. We were in the process of buying a new home and desperately needed a table to fit our new space. While hanging out and watching a football game/browsing on Instagram we found Paul and South Philly Barn and am SO glad we did! I'm breaking out my review into three key portions - design, delivery and durability. Design: To say we were a little all over the place with what we wanted would be an understatement. Paul was incredibly patient with us as we adjusted our likes/dislikes, managed through me sending him dozens of photos of different tables while we were out and about and worked with us to create a new design based on what we wanted to see. He was able to take all of our asks and combine it into a great table! Delivery: Paul stopped by to deliver the table right on time and it was more perfect than imagined! He was flexible in scheduling and tidy in the delivery process, which is huge in a new house! Durability: We've only had the table for a week but from what we can see, this table was built to last! The craftsmanship that went into building us a 4x6ft table with 2 1ft breadboard extensions and a bench with X-brace legs is astonishing! We had Philadelphia Table Company build a large entertainment stand and a built-in wall bench (with storage). Both pieces came out great! And Paul and his team delivered and installed both pieces, no small feat given the size of the entertainment stand (9 feet tall!). We had worked with an architect to design both pieces, but Paul made some suggestions for subtle alterations to the entertainment stand which definitely made it better and also made it fit into our decor very nicely. Great experience! From start to finish, it was a comfortable and easy process. Paul presented a great initial design for our coffee table and we gave input throughout the process resulting in a beautiful, handcrafted, unique piece that meets all of our needs. For instance, we asked for storage and he built big bins that can easily be pulled in and out of the table. We have young children and asked that the wood had some additional finish to stand up to spills and lots of activity and he was able to do it. He even softened the corners due to our concerns about little ones running around. We couldn't be happier and are so glad that we went with South Philly Barn rather than buying our table from a big box store.
