    Japanese katsu
    Eula B.

Korean restaurant that's open only during dinner time. Located right at the amazing stretch of restaurants at Ossington Avenue, this Korean place offers great sharing places that's perfect to satisfy your Asian cravings! Ordered bulgogi sliders, dark-spiced fried chicken, and Japanese katsu. Bulgogi sliders tastes great! Soft beef nicely marinated sandwiched in a soft bun. The fried chicken has a nice kick with the five spice and it's tender juicy crunchy! Same with the pork katsu and the mashed potato tasted interesting with the herbs in it! The staff was very friendly and has a great vibe as a hangout spot because of their shareable plates! Their japchae and lettuce wraps looked amazing too so next time I come if definitely order those!

We visited this spot randomly as our first option had too long of a wait. The restaurant is a modern twist on Korean cuisine with a Western influence. The menu was quite large and it is recommended for tapas/family sharing style. We tried: 1. Korean Lettuce Wraps These wraps were typical Korean bbq wraps with bulgogi, garlic, pickled daikon, and a red chilli paste. Nothing was overly special about this dish, but we did find it flavourful. 2. Toasted Kimchi Ravioli Recommend by our server, we found this dish a bit underwhelming. A panko crust with kimchi, cheese and a wasabi pesto. The wasabi pesto was the only thing good as it had a nice kick. 3. Squid Jeon Basically a seafood pancake, but only with squid. This dish was what'd you expect in taste. 4. Bulgogi Sliders These were super cute and small, we liked the over easy quail eggs. 5. Dark-Spiced Fried Chicken Crispy and spiced. We found this chicken a bit salty, but overall tasty. 6. Korean Cauliflower A bit disappointed with the presentation. The dish itself just looked plain, and the sauce was just ok. 7. Mackerel Spread This tasted like tuna. A good sharing dish. Overall, we were not too overly impressed by this restaurant and would not come back. A lot of the dishes were plain and/or underwhelming for a "modern Korean resto".

I absolutely love fusion food, especially when its made with a creative twist and with authentic flavors. We weren't able to get a table at our first pick restaurant and this was nearby and also on my eat list, so we decided to give it a try We ordered: Mackeral pate: Not bad for a fish pate, could have used a little more salt and pepper though Bulgogi sliders: Pretty average sliders but not bad either Korean lettuce wraps: Probably the best thing we ordered as the bulgogi was flavorful Toasted kimchi ravioli: Reminded me of a jamaican patty but with kimchi inside. Quite doughy and dry though, couldnt taste much of the kimchi or the creaminess from the supposed ricotta and mozzarella either Korean cauliflower: Again, just ok Squid Jeon: The batter was too "flat" tasting (not fluffy) and didn't have that crispiness Fried chicken: This was good, the chicken was juicy and crispy Pork katsu: This was really lean and dry and the potato salad had no flavor Butterscotch cheese cake: This was okay as well Notice that these reviews are short? That's because the dishes were so bland I wasn't able to detect much distinct flavors. Not to mention, their $15 "cocktails" are all premade, meaning they have a pre-made mix and just add it in a glass with ice. We tried 4 different drinks that were all SOO sweet. From the presentation (soo basic) to the taste and quality of the food was just highly underwhelming to me. I had such high hopes for the 4.5/5 reviews on Google but was extremely let down.

Good service, however very slow food service. Drinks came out quickly but we waited over 30 mins just for our brunch to come out. Food was tasty.

Here is what I ordered: - Dark Spiced Taiwanese Chicken - Kimchi Deviled Eggs Still dreamin' about this chicken! The flavor was delicious and the chicken was fried to perfection! The most juicy fried chicken I've ever tasted in my life. I ordered the 4 piece to share with my friend! It comes with two drums and two thighs! The deviled eggs were also good! There was a hint of kimchi but not too overpowering!

Taiwanese fried chicken & bubble waffles and Kimchi pork belly eggs benedict

For brunch, their Korean-inspired EGGS BENEDICT is where it's at! Their poached egg and kimchi infused sauce is always perfect. They either have it with pork belly or a crunchy delicious crab cake, both were amazing for me. HOWEVER, the lack of creativity in their other brunch menu items kind of veered us to try their KOREAN STUFFED PANCAKE W/ BANANA & WALNUT COMPOTE. Honestly, it was terrible. Imagine over-ripe mushed banana with sad small chunks of walnuts surrounded by a thick dough (hard on the outside but undercooked inside). Just not pleasant. And the savoury egg and sausage on the side was just confusing & out of place.

What made me come to this place was the menu. I was picking a spot where to go that was not the same old same old and this came up in my search. Have to say, when you know very little - that's when you get the biggest surprise and this definitely was. Asian Taiwanese fusion. Makes you go hmmm? Everything from the customer service to the food to the design and cleanliness was on par for me. I have to say, so far Ossington has had more solid hits for food for me lately than most other sections of the city. I love asking what a servers favourite thing is because let's face it - it beats asking 'what do you recommend?' One usually gets "oh, everything' or 'it depends what you're into.' Asking someone who's tried everything for me, has always been a better bet. Soooo I totally took her recommendation and I loved it!!! I had the Huevos Mashup. Smokey bacon and fried onions beans, fresh kimchi spiked tomato salsa, guacamole and sour cream, topped with two eggs over easy. Served with corn tortilla chips. Now, as much as this sounds like a lot of food, it still felt light. I could have eaten more. Have to say, it's one of my favourite breakfast dishes ever. Curious to try more off that menu and their evening offerings. The space is beautiful. Would have loved to sit on the patio. It's quite the hidden gem (next summer!)

Japanese Katsu (confirmed with the server, it's dairy-free!)
    Evelyn S.

--The Down Low-- Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Quality vs. Price: 4/5 Vibe: 4/5 I came here for dinner with a group of friends on a Thursday evening. Seating was prompt, as we had a reservation. We were seated in the back patio. The restaurant has cozy and rustic decor in the back patio, with fairy lights and lots of greenery. For drinks, I just got an iced tea, and for food, I got the Japanese Katsu. Since I'm sensitive to dairy, I was able to confirm with the server that the dish is dairy-free. It was filling, but a bit more bland that I had expected. The price for the quality of the dish was decent, although I think the pork katsu was on the drier side and could have probably benefited from a bit more sauce. The total price came to about $25 after tax and tip, which is average for dining-out in downtown Toronto. The washrooms were clean and nice to use. Overall, it's not a restaurant I would go out of my way to dine at, but I would return if I was in the area.

    Toasted kimchi ravioli

Patio season is in full force and Te has a cute one at the back of their restaurant that is perfect for small groups! They serve contemporary korean fusion food and we tried: Korean lettuce wraps Toasted kimchi ravioli Pizza tteokbokki I think my expectations were a bit too high since I love fusion food! It's good but for example the pizza tteokbokki tasted like normal tteokbokki. The ravioli and lettuce wraps was good but portions on small side. Presentation was amazing though and very beautiful plating.

    Bourbon iced tea, margarita
    Reh L.

Té was pretty underwhelming despite their unique menu and the fact that I'd been looking forward to trying Té for so long. It started off strong, with cool decor and tea themed wall art. Their cocktail menu incorporates tea in every drink too, which makes for some very unique flavours. Their take on the bourbon arnold palmer was great, and the margarita was solid too. The food took a while to come out, maybe 10-15m per dish, and each dish was a miss in my books. Here's the rundown: - Jap chae: glass noodles with bulgogi beef. The beef pieces were just to small to get any flavour and the noodles were just fine, nothing special. The veggies in this one were minimal, and the flavours were overall pretty flat / average. - Toasted Ravioli: deep fried ravioli pieces filled with cheese and kimchi, topped with wasabi mayo. The kimchi got totally lost in the flavours of the dish, which was overpowered by the wasabi and overall quite a dry bite. - Fried cauliflower: this dish felt extremely one dimensional - it was literally just fried cauliflower with some mediocre sauce on the side. Would've been so much better so easily if the cauliflower was tossed in the sauce, sprinkled with sesame seeds / herbs / etc but alas, it felt like there was no love in this dish. - Fried chicken: usually a well-seasoned and perfectly cooked piece of chicken can be eaten all on its own, but this one fell short. The cook was decent, but the seasoning was just so underwhelming. Overall I found the food quite disappointing, which we didn't even finish. Our server was really nice but the food took so long to come out, and it was clear they needed to be a bit more organized. The menu showed a lot of promise, but a lot of the items are very heavy / fried with few vegetable options to balance out the meal. This place has a lot of potential but they definitely need to rejig their menu and improve their recipes / execution before I'd consider trying it again. With all the quality spots on Ossington, I'd skip Té.

Regular breakfast and their spiced chicken with a matcha waffle. Rum boba cocktail.
    Jamie H.

The food is solid and the prices aren't bad. Service was friendly as well. However, one thing we weren't expecting was how long it would take for the food to come. We waited around 40 minutes for our meals! If the meal normally takes a long time to come out (according to our server, the chicken dish takes a long time to cook) it would make sense to out the estimated order time on the menu so customers would know before ordering. We ordered a cocktail as well. It was cute and has miniature bobas at the bottom, but it was too strong for our liking and the flavour wasn't too amazing either.

Everything was amazing. The patio is perfect for hot summer days. Got the kimchi falafel, pizza tteokbokki gabli meatballs and bi bim bap. All were amazing. Reservations help. Great wait staff. Wil definitely come back.

Fried ravioli was so unique and delicious
    Tina D.

I've been wanting to try this place for so long and was so glad I was able to last night. I was pleasantly surprised that they have an adorable backyard patio rather than in the front of the store. We ordered the bulgogi lettuce wraps - super tasty and a great light option, the beef fried dumplings , kimchi ravioli - these were so yummy and unique, I've never tasted anything like them, the jap chae noodles - these were so flavourful and perfectly sweet and for dessert - the green tea cheesecake - which was so delicious and better than I even expected!! Had such a great experience and am definitely looking forward to coming back. The service was amazing, food was delicious - the perfect date spot.

Super tender, rich, and easily the best dish of the night K Pasta was so unique. Packed with flavour and not something you come across often Kalbi striploin burger was juicy, flavourful, and done right Cocktails were strong and easy to sip. The tuna and salmon tasted very fresh, and the sweet-spicy Korean-style sauce made the whole dish feel bright, refreshing, and really appetizing. I also loved the potato dumplings.. crisp on the outside, but soft and pleasantly chewy inside, with a very smooth texture. The arugula salad was a great complement and added a nice fresh balance to the meal. The real standout for me, though, was the kalbi. It was incredibly tender and full of rich flavor. It almost melted in the mouth, with that satisfying buttery, savory richness that meat lovers would definitely appreciate. The cocktails were also fun and well done. I tried a few, and all of them were enjoyable. Some even had a smoky presentation, which made the experience feel a little more special. The service was another strong point. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made the dinner feel smooth from start to finish. Everything came out at a comfortable pace, and the overall hospitality really added to the experience. As for the ambience, it felt stylish, intimate, and a little moody in a good way. The lighting and presentation gave the dinner a polished feel, but it was still relaxed enough to enjoy comfortably. It's the kind of place that works well for a casual date night, drinks with friends, or simply a nice evening out.

Lee is the one restaurant I look forward to every Summerlicious…read more One reason is that every year they create a completely new menu instead of reusing dishes from their regular menu. As an Asian fusion restaurant, I always come curious to see what new ideas the chef has come up with. The last two Summerlicious menus disappointed me a little--they felt a bit uninspired, with dishes like the vegetable curry and croquette. This year, however, the creativity is back, and I'd happily recommend Lee's Summerlicious menu again. Fried Wild Cod The crispy cod is served in an edible crispy rice basket, making it feel like sharing bread at the start of the meal. The fish is fried perfectly with a crisp exterior and moist, flaky interior. Paired with Thai sweet chili sauce, it's light, flavorful, and great for sharing. Gazpacho Picante A refreshing take on gazpacho. The avocado gives it a smoother texture, while the hint of spice adds another layer without overpowering the chilled tomato soup. Refreshing and a great appetizer. BBQ Jerk Pork Ribs Three generous ribs--almost a main course on their own. The meat is tender while still retaining a bit of bite, similar to the texture of slow-cooked jerk chicken. The jerk seasoning is excellent, coating every bite with rich, aromatic spices. Pan Roasted Salmon The salmon is beautifully cooked with a nicely caramelized exterior while remaining juicy inside. Each accompaniment brings something different: the olive tapenade is deeply savory, the parsnip purée is smooth and slightly sweet, the lima bean adds a creamy, nutty richness, and the lemon-tomato-pepper vinaigrette brightens everything with acidity and a gentle kick. Lima Bean Succotash Probably the prettiest dish on the menu--and also the most unusual. The lima beans and peas are cooked until tender without becoming mushy. The flavors are layered, but there's a subtle bitterness throughout. After asking the chef, we learned it's the natural flavor of lima beans and was intentionally preserved as part of the dish. Fried Organic Chicken The fried chicken is juicy and tender, reminding me of Japanese karaage. It comes with two fun sauces: one is rich and spicy with a hint of coconut, while the other is a sweet pineapple-lime mayo that pairs surprisingly well with the chicken. The pandan rice, however, was fairly ordinary. The desserts are still classic Lee--beautifully plated, but the flavors are more restrained. We tried the Rhubarb Almond Frangipane Tart, Lemon Mousse Panna Cotta (our favorite), and Strawberry Raspberry Monkey Bread. This year's Summerlicious reminded me why I fell in love with Lee in the first place.

The atmosphere skews decidedly hipster in the best sense -- effortlessly cool without tipping into affectation. Noise levels remain convivial rather than oppressive, making it well-suited to a romantic evening or an occasion where one actually wishes to be heard. The menu is deliberately compact, a restraint that signals focus. Signatures such as the Dyno Wings, Salmon Aburi, and Hamachi Tartare reveal a kitchen fluent in the language of Japanese flavour while unafraid to let an American sensibility -- bold, satisfying, approachable -- guide the hand. Small plates arrive with the casual ease of izakaya tradition, inviting grazing and sharing in equal measure.
