I recently moved from Austin to Tucson. I hired Kenneth of Kangaroo Movers to move some large furniture into a storage pod at my house and take a lot more to donation centers. My realtors recommended him. This Austin small business owned by Kenneth Black, provided very efficient personal care, and provided an affordable solution for both our local moving needs and out-of-state relocation. They wrapped the furniture and protected our belongings for their safe arrival. Kenneth partnered with another mover to make the trip to Arizona. Both movers worked quickly to load everything, drive to our new location and unload, along with setting up the beds and furniture. They were extremely professional, took great care of all of our belongings, answered any questions we had and went above and beyond with helping us do a few things that we couldn't. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We are in our 70's and were treated respectfully.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The men drove a 26' box truck, pulling a 6' box trailer. The wind and mountains slowed down the drive. When they arrived, they hit it, unloading and placing everything where we told them. Some boxes weren't marked clearly as there were a few people that helped me pack. After two very long days with driving and unloading as fast as possible, it was 11 pm when they finished. I wish they were local to Arizona so I could hire them again to help with simpler moves. To say I am disappointed with my experience is an understatement. The gentlemen who came to help us move were very friendly to the point of excess and I quite often caught them standing around at length, talking to my dad, who was there to assist me and was not paying for any portion of my move. This is fine, but those conversations added up and were on my dime. I appreciate being friendly, but either don't charge for that time or work while you chat. In addition to this, they kept informing us of how exhausted they were from a previous move the day before and I do feel that it impacted how long it took for them to move all of my belongings as they were definitely dragging towards the end and even asked if we would be okay with them leaving certain items on the wrong floor level since they were tired. Even after this, we discovered that quite a few boxes were left in the wrong location (bedroom boxes in the living room, garage boxes in the closet, bathroom boxes in the garage, etc.) and I've discovered damages to my standing mirror in addition to several other furniture items. We bought dinner for them as a thank you and they proceeded to charge me for the time they took to eat... even after saying it would be time off the clock. All in all, this was not the professional service I was hoping for and I would not recommend them or book them in the future. My move took far longer than I was verbally quoted because they were so tired from previous jobs, I was charged for non-working time and breaks, items were damaged, and boxes were placed in the wrong rooms. 5/10 - they got the job done, but I do not recommend. read more

In short, more than satisfied from the process to the result. Nice job done! I filled up an auto-generated request on Yelp and Kangaroo Movers was one of the first to reach out. I asked some key questions, including whether and how they will protect my 65' TV, how they will deal with apartments w/o elevator, etc. Those are answered fast and straight forward. Appointment email was then sent to my email address. The whole communication consumes less than 2 hours. Then the moving day come. Kenneth and the other wonderful mover (sorry I didn't ask his name!) took good care of my furniture. Tables got wrapped by cloth then plastic wraps then tapes, shelves and sofa were miraculously transported in one piece, "this side up" and "fragile" boxes were treated as instructed, mattress got bagged. They heard from me about what to move, then efficiently took all stuff downstairs. Moving to the new place, they worked in the same efficiency lifting all those pieces (yes, including a huge shelf and the sofa) up to 3rd floor, and place everything at the correct spot. This 1-bedroom moving lasted from around 9:30 (when they actually start to pack and move) to 13:00 as I do have some troublesome large furniture, not to mention the effort of bringing them up floors. They do offer a reasonable hourly price, so the total is still pretty acceptable. Have to emphasize their great communication and service. During the moving day, I only showed them the way twice (one in the old apartment, one in the new apartment) and everything just flew out and in so smoothly. Most comfortable moving day I have ever had. If I am moving another time, I will come back. Will recommend to any friend moving around Austin. read more
