I'll start by saying Matthew was phenomenal! Seating for the hibachi experience occurs once everyone in your party is there. Our waiter took our orders which turned out to be incorrect, but, thankfully our chef Matthew double checked and everything was sorted properly. We had appetizers first, salad and soup followed by the main entrees. I wishhhh I had gotta the fried rice because it was stupendous! Highly recommend! I ordered the salmon and chicken which was excellent. They're very attentive to any allergies if you note so they can be sure to separate when certain food groups are cooked. Ordered a special plater (75.00) along with other things, ​we ​did not receive my correct order. It was packed incorrectly at the restaurant. We called to have get it corrected or refunded. Because it was delivered by Door dash, Kani House would not correct and deliver the new order. Refund has to be through Doordash. Which turned into a nightmare. Laura the manager would not work with us to get the order corrected​. So, we never got all of our order for dinner. read more

Another favorite spot for Hibachi in Cumming! Weekends can be tough to get in, but definitely depends on how large your party is. They do take reservations which is helpful. This most recent time we went it was four of us and about a 30 min wait without a reservation. They have a bar area which is nice to sit at to help kill some time, and you can even sit and eat there if you don't want the full hibachi grill experience. They also have a dedicated sushi bar, and regular table dining. We have actually sat at the bar a couple of times and it was great, and I'd love to sit at the sushi bar sometime. We were seated with a huge company party this time at the hibachi grill, and it was a little tight but it worked out. Our chef was hilarious and incredible as always, and the food was DIVINE. You get to pick a protein combo for hibachi and my go-to is chicken and shrimp, but they have plenty of other options like filet, scallops, etc. They offer huge portions and I always end up taking some to-go for a second meal. What's cool about Kani House is ice cream is included with the meal, so they always offer it complimentary at the end of the experience but I never have enough room in my belly for dessert. We were seated and given a QR code menu. They are TERRIBLE. There was no menu for my 88 year old MIL. Highly suggest the owners at least have some printed menus for ADA assistance (Not sure they are compliant with menu requirements). Food was ok, not nearly as good as the year before. The salad was drenched in what seemed like a creamy dressing with a hint of ginger. Ask for it on the side so you are't eating soggy salad. The rest of our food was cooked as ordered. Not the best we have had. Very basic taste. Not very kid friendly. We had a 3 year old out to the car because the noise was too much for him. We told the waitress we were celebrating a birthday. I never had the hibachi so I can to comment. But I've had thenpmeasure of sitting at the bar a few times. I've had severalsushi but my favorite is the flounder carpaccio. I took away a starbecause I mentioned my shellfish allerggbut was given a roll with crabstick and the chef nor server knew that despite it being immitation there is still shellfish added for flavoring. I called and ordered the following for pick-up: Snow dragon roll $13 Orochi roll $12 White dragon roll $12 Hamachi ceviche $9 I called when I arrived, as advised by the friendly staff member who took my order. A few of the spots close to the entrance are labeled with numbers. I gave them my parking spot number, and another friendly staff member came out with my food shortly. I was in and out of my parking spot in five minutes. The sushi rolls looked and tasted fresh! The snow dragon roll is one of their low carb rolls. It doesn't contain rice. Instead, tuna and asparagus are wrapped in crab salad then topped with fresh tuna and sweet white cream sauce. The orochi roll comes with spicy tuna, salmon and white fish mix topped with salmon, spicy tuna, and spicy mayo. The white dragon is a spicy tuna roll topped with bbq freshwater eel, wrapped in white seaweed and topped with hot sauce, eel sauce, and sweet cream sauce. The hamachi ceviche is composed of yellowtail, masago, kaiware, and jalapeños on top. It came in 6 different shooter style cups. We were very pleased with our choices. Every now and then, I like to try out a new hibachi style restaurant whenever I'm visiting out of town. And one thing always remains consistent: no two hibachi restaurant experiences are ever quite the same. That said, we can dive into Kani House; the good, the could-be-better, and the slightly bizarre. K, so I'm gonna be honest...I was slightly inebriated the night we dined here because it was my last night visiting my friend in Cumming and I had a feeling she wouldn't be able to see me off the next morning. But, I digress. From what I recall, the "performance" from the chef was what you'd expect in most places. Though my friend and I remained squares and didn't partake in the "catch the broccoli in the mouth" ritual, the chef/other patrons did surprisingly well in that area. Usually, everyone just misses. Started with the usual soup, only...it wasn't quite onion soup. This was...chicken broth with mushrooms and a little bit of onions in them. It was quite tasty, so I ain't complaining. Although it was a bit weird they gave me a regular spoon to eat with rather than the authentic Japanese spoon I'm used to. Ah well. Feeling like the bonafide bad ass that some folks claim I am, I ordered the Emperor's special #likeaboss! This plate consists of everything worth a king's ransom: filet mignon, lobster and shrimp. From what I recall, everything was top notch. A solid 9 out of 10 for me. That said, I'd like to point out some anomalies.. Apparently, serving appetizer shrimp isn't a thing at all hibachi restaurants. So, if you're someone from, say...Fayetteville, NC, don't expect that here like you would in Miyabi (oh, Miyabi...how I miss thee. lemme count the ways..) *ahem* Sorry. Got distracted by my nostalgic drool for a sec there. Let's move on. Another thing you don't often get in these places is melted butter with your lobster. In fact, it's traditional to dip any and all seafood in the white mayo-like stuff, affectionately known to most Americans as "yum-yum sauce". Here, you get a choice of both. I'm still trying to decide which one I liked better overall, but I think the yum-yum sauce squeaks ahead by a smidge. And can someone please tell me what the deal is with having to ask for chopsticks in these places?! Why can't they just be on the table next to the fork for the diner to choose? Seriously. It's not a huge problem, but slightly annoying I even have to ask. Makes me feel pretentious and awkward. But I genuinely love using them. So, who cares? One minor complaint I have is that our drink server never bothered to ask if I wanted a second wine. This is sort of a minor pet peeve of mine. Though to be fair, it's probably just as well, since I was technically already on my way to being 3 sheets to the wind. Plus, I had to hit the road early the next morning to make it to the airport on time and that would have been bad juju beaming down the highway smelling like Ben Affleck. I like the decorum and highly recommend having dinner at this place on a weekday if you don't like crowds and want to be seated quickly. It's no Miyabi, but the fried rice was still pretty delicious. We have eaten at this Kani house probably about 20 times over the ten years we have lived here. Usually it is "ok" for what it is. This evening's experience was so dismal we will never eat here again. The first waiter we had was terribly apathetic. He got our order wrong. I asked him which Japanese beer was not made with rice because I couldn't remember and couldn't find the answer on Google when he took our drink order. He begrudgingly asked someone walking past, they didn't know, he said he would ask. He came back and said all Japanese beer were made with rice. He is wrong; it was Kirin and it was on their menu. He disappeared the rest of the meal and another waitress "too over" which was to deliver our food by handing it to us (not setting it on the table) and then disappearing for 20 minutes. Had a 7:30 reservation, sat at 7:45, but still waiting for chef at 8:53. Unreal. Miles, the manager, was unapologetic saying he only has three chefs and it is the holiday season. Hire some more chefs or get used to comping food. Be honest with people up front, so you don't disappoint them after they have been sat. My uncle and his family come here A LOT. As a child it was a treat to visit this type of restaurant (Plug: Kobe Steakhouse in Lahaina), but in GEORGIA?! This is a staple in every mall and strip mall. First time visiting, for my wife's birthday. We came early, right after the opening. Floor was dirty, seats torn up and stuff looked unhappy. We ordered drinks as we were given 3 menus. My daughter got some different menu, where she was missing a bunch of items, we shared mine. We ordered appetizer and few minutes later our main course. My wife and I had stake and our daughter had sushi. The food presentation was awful. Plates looked dirty and amount was really minimal, for the price we paid. Food tasted ok, at the best. My daughter did enjoy her sushi. Appetizer never came, so my wife reminded waiter, and she got it, as she was already eating her main course. Table was never cleaned, during the dinner and drink refills were never offered. Overall, dining experience was awful and the only reason why I gave two stars, is because my daughter liked her meal. I'm guessing the owners were at the front desk, as we were leaving and they gritted us on our way out. There is a lot of room for the improvement with this place. I haven't been to a hibachi grill in years, and since the last one I went to in Alpharetta wasn't that great (cough cough Benihana), I wasn't really in a hurry to go anywhere again. However, because my in-laws were in town and it was her birthday, we took a chance! We were not disappointed! This place was great from start to finish. We had a 5:30 reservation and only had to wait about 10 minutes. The service was great, no complaints except we had to ask for utensils. The chef was sweet and entertaining and the food was so yummy!! My daughter was scared of the fire, but my son was a nut about it cheering! I got the Chirashi Don, a chefs choice sashimi bowl on top of seasoned rice. The quality of the fish was good. Exactly what I expect unless I go to an expensive high end sushi restaurant. We enjoy going to Connie house when our grand children come in from California. They call it going to "fire on the table ". The food is always good and the show that they put on at the table is very entertaining for the grandkids. We don't have that 10 minutes later this happened about four times. My sister also ordered sushi. The sushi came back the first time incorrect with spicy mayo she had asked not to have on it. She sent it back to have it fixed. The second time it came back with the wrong fish. She sent it back again. By this point, everybody had already finished their entire meal, hibachi, sushi all of it. While the waitress was very nice. The other staff was not helpful. They didn't make my sister pay for her sushi however, I would expect that at the very least since she did not consume any of it. Downside was that there was a bone in a piece that I bit into :( also, they gave us 2 less pieces than it stated on the menu so that stunk too! The spicy maki rolls were unique because they didn't use spicy Mayo in those but instead Sriracha. I liked it better this way but it was a ton of rice and not enough fish. The chicken soup was delicious and the ginger dressing was very good too. They didnt give us a dessert though.
