I took 6 lessons in total with Kanor Academy over winter, for my first few times driving, and summer, as a refresher, along with a pre-test lesson before my actual DMV Road Test. Over winter, I had Alice as my instructor. She did a great job in laying the foundation for me to start learning how to drive with her friendly personality. At each lesson, she ensured I was comfortable with each environment before moving to the next (parking lot to neighborhood to streets). She was very patient when answering my questions, even using pictures to demonstrate what she was asking or rephrasing her words in a way I understood. For the summer, Surbhi was my instructor. She was amazing to work with and a great communicator. From our first lesson together, she was able to point out my strengths and weaknesses and made sure to target those areas I needed to work on throughout the duration of our time together. I could see the improvements i've made, and my confidence in driving grew. Surbhi was definitely enjoyable to be around, and I could tell that she genuinely cared about my progress. I easily felt comfortable throughout my learning process. While my instructors were amazing, the Academy was unprepared in providing certain documents needed for me to take my Behind-the-Wheel Test on time. Upon checking in at the DMV for my Test, my Instructor and I realized too late that the Academy-owned vehicle I was to use had an expired registration. Although I was forced to reschedule, I deeply appreciate Surbhi for trying her best to offer different alternatives and negotiating with the DMV workers. The instruxtor for my daughter's 1 and 2nd session was ok. and she was even given chance to drive on freeway. But she had a new instruxtor on 3rd session who was making lame jokes and basically controlled the gas and brake pedals the whole time. So it was just wasted time. Yes, that 550 dollars for 12 hours can seem a lot for some people. This place is 100% professional because I cancelled a lesson on accident and if you cancel a lesson in a 24 hour period, you will be charged with 45 dollars. I used Kanor for my two sons behind the wheel drivers training. Both passed the DMV Drive Test the first time. Gustavo was their instructor. He is patient and really teaches the kid good driving habits. I like Kanor because after each driving lesson they give you a checklist of how your driver is progressing and the areas they need to work on. I've heard other schools don't do this. I spread the three lessons out. First one after getting permit, second one about 3 months into the process and the last one right before the license test. Gustavo made sure that my kids were ready for the test and made me feel confident that they were ready for the congestion of freeways and surface streets or the open highways. Kanor made this process super easy. Paid for Driver's Ed and Behind the Wheel Instructions for my 16 year old on May 9th 2021. He procrastinated on starting online classes but eventually got through them. Passed the written portion on his first try. Scheduling The Behind The Wheel part was a little challenging due to Covid and my child's school and sports schedule. Kanor was very flexible and accommodating. We finally got through them. Since there's was a 6 month waiting period before he could take the driving test as we got closer, I paid for 3 more additional driving sessions. Every instructor we had was great! I now have a licensed teenage driver on the first try too! So glad I found Kanor on Yelp! Please note, you can not take driving test until it's exactly 6 months even if you're able to make an appointment. We were two weeks too early and had to reschedule. read more

After the 6 hrs required lessons if below 18 yrs old, my son passed the DMV driving test with only 1 error. 49/50. Failure is at 35/50. Ian and Christian were his teachers during the 6 mons duration. He learned a lot from them especially road rules, regulations, reminders, and tips that parents will not even remember to tell their kids. With another $145, Kanor took him to DMV using their car and another 1hr lesson before the actual exam. I am glad that Kanor drivers taught my son and made an impact on his driving skills. His next lesson was with Gustavo with stick shift - my son learned in 2 hrs. He can now drive us around after 2 hrs lesson in our manual cars. I was so amazed that Gustavo had the patience to teach him manual transmission when we, the parents, do not. The lessons are a great investment to my son. Parents should not be teaching their kids how to drive even if they reach 18 yrs of age. Rely on professionals at Kanor to teach your children. I am so glad I found and used Kanor Driving School for my teenage daughter. My daughter earned her driver's permit last year. Because I am a bucket of anxiety when she drives with me, I knew that I had to hire someone to teach her how to drive. Initially, I went with the AAA Teen Driving School. I purchased the 10 hour package. After the third lesson, I realized it would be difficult to use this service because it was tough to schedule the next lesson (the teachers are booked weeks in advance), and this service requires the anxious parent to drive with their child in-between lessons. Once I discovered how challenging it would be to work with AAA, I searched for another driving school. Kanor immediately popped up online. My daughter and I met with a representative from Kanor. They offer various packages. I chose the 50 hours of lessons and practice. It turned out to be almost the same price as the AAA 10 hour package. Plus, Kanor picks your child up from his/her home. And unlike AAA, Kanor doesn't charge you if you cancel 24 hours in advance (AAA only permits you to cancel one time). Plus, Kanor sends both parent and child a text message 48 hours in advance reminding them about the upcoming lesson. My daughter's driving instructor was Ian. Unlike AAA, Ian remained my daughter's instructor for every lesson. He was a terrific mentor and coach for her. He taught her how to drive all over Orange County and Los Angeles County. He made her take freeways. He even had her drive through L.A.X. More importantly, Ian gave my daughter confidence. On the day of her driving exam, I paid for Ian to take her. She felt much more comfortable with him than if I took her. Plus, she used the same car she learned to drive in for her DMV Test. She passed her test! She is very helpful and wise when it comes to driving! If it weren't for Pamela I probably wouldn't have passed my drivers test today.
