Been wanting to try Kanoya for a while and lucky we finally did! Sushi and service did not disappoint! We tried various nigiri sushi and 1 roll as we didn't want to get full too fast as rolls have more rice. The sushi rice was good and not much on the nigiri sushi. The fish was fresh and liked that they cut out the red blood portion on the hamachi pieces! The only negative was parking. You have to park upstairs where Hawaiian Brian's and 24 Hour Fitness patrons park too and the stalls are narrow. There's stairs that you need to use to get to Kanoya and they do validate your parking. Might be difficult for elderly and handicap patrons. I believe there's 3-4 stalls in front of Kanoya's front entrance but lucky if you can get one. We would return if lucky to get parking in front.

Kanoya has great rolls, I love the combinations they have. I ordered the dark dragon roll with seared salmon on top, avocado, crab imitation meat, and fried tempura flakes. I could eat this for days and days, it's flavorful but also balanced at the same time. They even gave us a private room because of our large party and they had karaoke too!

Went there for lunch recently and it was really dead... but I still like the atmosphere. I do like the food here it's fresh and really tasty. Their lunch specials are legit and give plenty. Now as for order off that menu it starts to get a little pricey. So I'd advise this place for dates or special lunches. I'll still be back ~

If you're looking for a place in town that combines solid sushi, good vibes, and unbeatable happy hour deals, Kanoya Sushi Grill & Bar on Kapiolani is it. Atmosphere: The space feels like a modern izakaya -- cozy booths, a sleek sushi bar, and ambient lighting that makes it perfect for date night or pau hana. It's casual enough for after-work drinks but polished enough for a dinner out. Service: Staff were attentive without hovering. Our server made great recommendations and kept our drinks full the entire time. The food came out fast and fresh, even during happy hour. Food & Drinks: Kanoya's sushi menu is solid across the board -- fresh cuts of fish, creative rolls, and that sushi boat that steals the show every time. The standout for me is their Happy Hour (4:30-6 PM): * 3 beers for $9.99 -- an incredible value. * Any sushi roll with a beer for $15.99 -- perfect combo if you just want to unwind with something light. Overall: Kanoya strikes a great balance between quality and price. Whether you're stopping in for a quick happy hour or sitting down for dinner with friends, you'll leave full and happy. It's one of those spots that feels like a hidden gem even though it's right in the middle of town. Kanoya Sushi Grill & Bar 1680 Kapiolani Blvd, Honolulu, HI Happy Hour: 4:30 - 6 PM

This is by far my FAVORITE sushi restaurant on the island! Great service, amazing menu choices, delicious cocktails, fantastic deals on DoorDash, and a very aesthetically pleasing restaurant style. I like that it's located near Ala Moana and the Blaisdell Center, so it's easy to get to on foot when I have a mall day or check out local vendor events. I found them when I first moved here and have tried many other spots on the island but this has always remained my favorite. I couldn't recommend it enough! Tonight we doordashed a few rolls to enjoy it one more time before we move off island. I will miss it greatly. Thank you!

No wait! Service friendly and attentive. Feeling that Asian interior with the decor. Food good! Tempura crispy and light, Udon, flavorful and sushi fresh! They have lunch specials that are reasonably priced. If in town go check them out! Lots of free parking.

Some friends and I decided to come here after a long day at work. We arrived around 8:45 PM, and it wasn't too busy, which made the vibe really chill and enjoyable. The hostess, who also doubled as our server, was super helpful and gave some solid food recommendations. I've been here before with other friends, and the food reminds me a lot of Sakura Sushi--good prices and good quality. What more can you ask for? We weren't in the mood for a full sashimi spread, so we stuck with some small pupus. My favorite dish was definitely the beef tataki--it had great flavor and a nice kick of spice. The uni teaser was just that--a tease. It's not top-tier uni, but for the price, it's decent. My friend loved the takoyaki the most--it had the perfect crisp and was packed with flavor. The dark dragon roll was also a solid choice. The only miss for me was the okra; it came out a bit soggy and didn't quite hit the mark. Overall, this is a great late-night spot if you're looking for a laid-back atmosphere and still want something tasty.

This is a hidden gem. We were looking for a good sushi place for our last night in Honolulu. One in our party has a shellfish allergy so we needed alternate choices. They came through with flying colors. The sushi and sashimi were really good. Prices were some of the better that we've seen in Hawaii. The sushi was fresh and flavorful. Service was very good and attentive, especially for a party of 7. Overall, the restaurant was very clean and the noise level was really good. My husband has hearing aids and he told us it was the first dinner he was able to hear everyone at the table. We'll put this on our list when we return to Honolulu.

A hidden gem on Kapiolani!!! Finally tried this Japanese restaurant I always pass by after 24 Hour Fitness on Kapiolani -- and wow, what a gem of Honolulu! I can't believe I waited this long. After just one visit, I'm already planning to come back weekly. The food is incredibly fresh -- you can taste the quality in every bite. The presentation? Stunning. Every dish looked like a work of art, but nothing felt too fussy or overdone. It's clear they care about both flavor and aesthetics. Huge bonus: they serve prosecco! That little sparkle just elevated the whole meal. What I loved most is how versatile the vibe is -- it's casual and comfortable enough for a big group or even families with kids, but also cozy enough to be a solid first date spot. We ended our meal with their take on fried ice cream -- think mochi-like texture surrounding ice cream and then fried to golden perfection. Pretty unique and super tasty! It's definitely earned a place on my go-to list!

Great place to get together with friends. Their sushi boats are so fun! We ordered the Pacific Surf Boat for 4. Just the right amount of meat, sushi, and sashimi. It was more than enough food for us 4. The Firecracker roll it came with was my favorite. The cream cheese went so well with the spicy ahi and jalapeño. Service was good. Noise level was low. It was actually pretty dead for a Sunday night. The only thing I was disappointed in was the parking. We parked in the 24hr Fitness lot. Kanoya validated our parking ticket with a red stamp. We still ended up paying $10 for parking, we were only there a couple hours max. I think they were supposed to give us a parking sticker. There was no attendant at the toll booth to help us.

Went in on a Friday and it was busy, so if you go on the weekends they do take reservations. If not, you can sit at the bar. The lighting is cool, very trendy looking inside. I did like that they served run of the mill type sushi, the Philly rolls, spicy tuna, but also had specialty rolls. Also best price for restaurant sushi you can find. It was very affordable. The wait was a bit long, but the place was full so it was expected. We got Philly roll, spicy tuna and some sashimi that was local. And the presentation was cool looking. Overall I really liked the place. The hostess was nice as were the servers and bartender. The drinks, were quite pricey if you got their specialty drinks, but that's Hawaii in general. I'd come back.

1680 Kapiolani Blvd, Honolulu, HI Visited: November 10, 2025 Total: $130.26 before tip (Sushi Sashimi Combo $32.50, Two Entrées Lunch $18.95, Fiery Yellowtail $14.75, Tuna Sushi $8.75, Salmon Sushi $7.95) We had lunch at Kanoya Sushi Grill and Bar, located just a short walk from the Honolulu Convention Center. Everything we ordered was really good -- especially the Fiery Yellowtail and the Sushi Sashimi Combo, which were both fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The portion sizes felt fair for the price, and the quality of the fish was top-notch. The only downside was the slow service, which seemed to be due to the restaurant being a bit overwhelmed by a big crowd that came in from the convention center around the same time. Given their close proximity to the convention center, it feels like this is something that probably happens often, so I'd hope they'll be better prepared for that in the future. Overall, though, excellent food and atmosphere, and I'll definitely return. I'd probably give them 5 stars if the service had been a little smoother.

We started our vacation with dinner at the Hideout, and upon entering you could immediately hear live music. We received a warm welcome, and brought over to our booth where our server Kai was quick to greet us. We ordered cocktails (I don't remember the name of mine. It's something spritz, and my husband tried the banana bread old fashioned) and we shared the appetizer platter (brussel sprouts with pork belly, kalua pork egg rolls, poke tacos, and edamame)to share. We also ordered the garlic shrimp dumplings. Everything was super tasty. Lots of other items on the menu that I want to try during another visit to the island.

Stressful from the start…read more I called to inquire about parking a week prior to my rsv and was told they were sold out for the night. I mentioned that it was just a general question and i wasn't coming that night. They informed me that it's validated for two hours and it's first come first serve. After the 2 hours its $14 an hour. Getting into the valet area was stressful enough as there was a car parked right before you turn and pedestrians that walk back and forth from their main driveway entrance. I also had to wait for valet for a bit too as there was 2 other cars in front of me and probably only 2 valet on duty trying to move cars forward. Reservations can be made on open table, but there was really no point to doing that since it's open seating during happy hour times. We ended up just picking a table that was in the shade, and noticed they only have their menu by QR code which is kinda annoying. The server was pretty nice tho and he brought my dog some water mid way. Their happy hour runs from 2-6 and the menu is slightly less expensive. The food was kind of standard hotel type of food and nothing really stood out. Otherwise the vibes at the restaurant was nice and i do like that they allow dogs to join you. it seems like they have live music after a certain time. I was even more annoyed and stressed with the valet when i went to pick up my car. They literally just handed me my keys. My car was parked along the wall probably 20 steps away, but they could have at least taken out my car cause it was so hard to get out, but i guess it's nice they trust that i wont bang the car in front of back of me i guess even tho im a pretty terrible parker. at the time they didn't look as busy as when i first arrived, so i dont know why they couldn't have just done the bare minimum with just pulling out my car from the stall.

Located in a hotel called The Romer on Nāhua Street in Waikiki off of Kuhio (closer to Ala Wai Canal) it is a smallish unpretentious looking building on Diamond Head side of Nahua. They have valet stand in front and validate parking for up to 3 hours. The valet wasn't very friendly when we walked towards him and usually they hold the door open but this one did not. We realize he's probably not part of Lei Stand staff but it doesn't make a good first impression. Walk into the lobby and directly to your left is the Lei Stand. It is brightly neon but dark if that makes sense, and very small. If you're a fan of when it used to be on Bethel St downtown then you'll be disappointed with this venue. No view to be had, dark drapes cover the windows (we were there at 6:00 pm) and no cute little lanai or garden. Tiny tables either high tops or rounds - maybe 10 total and a small bar. There was one tiny corner booth. The lost star was for this set up but also another lost star for NO MUSIC. Music is such an important part of a place especially a bar so we were disappointed and appalled there was only silence. Bartender said the music was "broken" so we turned on our phones to get something on our table. Then two girls brought in something to light the place up with some tunes so that helped. The final lost star was it is called The Lei Stand yet there wasn't a lei stand inside the place. When we asked the bartender where it was he didn't even know what a lei was. Then we explained to him and he said it is in the hotel lobby but you have to go to front desk to let them know you wish to purchase one. Another disappointment. Thank goodness I bought her a lei from downtown in case they didn't have any. The good stars ... Star 1 goes to the drink menu and how delicious they tasted. "Rub up on my belly" was beautifully prepared and so delicious I had to have another one lol I mean how could I refuse a second guava jam infused Tito's vodka??? Bartender prepared with cute little garnish and an ice stick to keep it cold! He was very nice and took good care of us. My friend opted for the "Clifton's Curse" - yes there's a back story to this drink- and enjoyed the cognac, absinthe, bitters and sherry concoction! Ono! Star 2 goes to the food or "nibbles" as they call it. Taro chips and crack dip were yum and a nice handful of chips not too much and not too little. Hurricane fries - to die for! Plenty of furikake, parmigiano reggiano and spicy aioli. The girls who brought our food were very nice and made sure we had what we needed to enjoy, bringing us waters too. They also had a smash burger for $25 but we had dinner rez later so didn't want to indulge but it looked good. It might be cute if you wanted to do a private party here and I noticed a room across with a beautiful large table set up for a private dinner - not sure if part of hotel or bar.
