Searched Yelp for suggestions and read the reviews for Chogalip Korean Restaurant and Bar. Located across the Convention Center. Private parking lot . We're so happy that we found them and had the opportunity to dine there. Service was excellent. The suggestions by our server were spot on. We tried the Korean Chives Pancake, Meat Jun, Galbi, and Spicy Pork Bulgogi. All were prepared hot and fresh. Everything was perfect and delicious . The Meat Jun was the best we've had on Oahu. Oh and the sauce they served with it was amazing. They should bottle it . Highly recommended

We've been looking for a great tasting authentic Korean Food (tofu soup) and we saw this right across the Hawaii Convention Center. The food is truly authentic and delicious! The place was typical Korean restaurant which add to the appeal. It was very quiet since we were the only customers at 4pm, which made the service personal and intimate. Remember, this is right across the Convention Center so the traffic was very busy. I do recommend coming early. They also have limited parking since the lot shares with other businesses. However, it's worth the hassle!!! By the way, their mold is volcanic ;)

We had a nice time at Chogajip. They specialize in meat jun and it comes out as a huge portion. This is a place to take some friends and drink. The service is on the slower side, but the food is worth the wait. Parking is a little hard here since the plaza is really small, but there is street parking around. The banchans are good, and overall, it's worth a visit.

    Scorched rice barley tea

What do you eat for breakfast? Is it oatmeal? Is it avocado toast? My preferred breakfast is meat jeon. Dont judge! It's made with eggs! We finally were able to try Chogajip by the convention center...and it was so worth it. It had previously been a little difficult because they open at 8am and I normally eat breakfast earlier than that...but we went on a weekend, and it was delicious . They have their own dedicated parking lot which is a big win. It's shared with the foot massage parlor. When we entered, we were greeted warmly, and brought menus. But the best part is they brought out a small, warm cauldron of scorched rice barley tea. I'm so hooked. I didn't know I needed this first thing in the morning, but I do now. Soothing and smooth, this tea receives it's texture from small bits of crispy rice floating in the tea. Its the perfect 'wake up' concoction and an amazing way to start breakfast! We ordered the meat jeon and galbi breakfast so we could share and it was a good move. The meat jeon was crispy and soft at the same time. The sauce it was served with was a perfect match and I would definitely order it again. The galbi was arguably better than the meat jeon! Marinated to perfection, these large pieces were succulent, sweet and savory all at the same time. We will definitely be back to try lunch and dinner...but for sure we will be back for breakfast!

Still bomb! Place seems to be consistent with customers, food and service. When in the area this is our go to spot!

    Chive jun

My friends and I have visited this place a few times. Since then I've tried the chive jun, kimchi stew, galbijjim (spicy and regular version), army stew, and the spicy pork bibimbap. The chive jun is probably the most notable because it's so thin and crispy. The galbijjim is also pretty good as well and I like that it's the perfect size but not crazy expensive like I've seen in LA before. The kimchi stew was just okay for me. The broth could have a little more flavor. The army stew was similar in that I wish the broth had had a little more flavor but overall wasn't bad. The service has always been great. They are always super nice and welcoming when we visit. There's a little parking lot that is shared with the foot massage place that is connected that you can park in as well.

Lunch special: galbi, yellow croaker, and soft tofu stew
    Rose L.

I've been to Chogajip for both lunch and dinner and had great experiences each time. Their lunch special is a solid deal at $24.99--you get to choose a grilled meat paired with either bean paste stew, kimchi stew, or soft tofu stew. I went with the galbi and soft tofu stew, while my husband had the grilled yellow croaker with the same stew. The soft tofu stew had just the right amount of spice, and both meats were grilled to perfection. The yellow croaker was impressively crispy, though a bit too salty for my taste. My husband, however, really enjoyed it. For dinner on another visit, we ordered the chive geon and spicy galbi jjim. The chive geon was the crispiest I've ever had and generously packed with chives. The galbi jjim was fall-apart tender and flavorful, though a touch sweeter than I prefer. Our friends ordered the spicy pork belly bibimbap and kimchi stew, and they were very happy with their meals as well. Another bonus: they offer free parking, which is always a nice convenience. The service was also great and the food came out quick.

After dinner... we were looking for dessert... But... To make a long story short,... We ended up at: ChoGaJip - Hawaii Yup... i was a bit hungry after an unsatisfying dinner... We had free parking in the small lot. We didn't have a reservation, but it wasn't crowded... maybe we missed everyone because it was kinda late at night. Service was ok... not too memorable. The decor wasn't outstanding... just practical. I got cold noodles. They were chewy and the broth had a bit of vinegar in it. The banchan was a bit spicy for me. I was full! It was just convenient and good for late night snacks since they close at 4am. Note: It used to be Masil Pocha. Thanks to my friends for going with me to dinner at a "new" place!

Absolutely Amazing food, felt like I was back in korea. The galbi was probably the best one ive had on island, as well as the meat Jeon. The only reason why im giving four stars is because of the price. A bit too pricy, but worth it if moneys not an issue

While attending a conference at the Honolulu Convention Center, my colleagues and I were looking for a nearby, tasty spot since the food lines at the conference were too long. We stumbled upon this little gem across the street, and I'm so glad we did! I don't have much experience with Korean food, but I was pleasantly surprised. I mentioned to the server that we were on a tight schedule and needed separate checks for work reimbursement, and she had no problem accommodating us. The food came out quickly, was delicious, and we were in and out in about 30-40 minutes. I ordered the lunch special beef bulgogi, which came with white rice and a few appetizers. The portion was huge, definitely enough to share. Highly recommend this spot for a quick, tasty meal!

such a great Korean spot near Ala Moana hotel! I got the spicy squid and pork stir fry and the soft tofu seafood soup & it was all so yummy! The squid pieces are pretty decent in size and there's a good ratio of squid and pork. The side dishes are really good as well. Service and ambiance are both amazing as well. 10/10 would recommend!

I was excited to find a new Korean restaurant on the island during our recent trip to Honolulu. Located right across from the Convention Center, ChoGaJip has its own convenient and dedicated parking lot and access was easy. We had a family member with a wheelchair and there was one handicap parking right by the entrance. We were greeted by the friendly staff and quickly seated. Their bathroom was quite large, clean, and wheelchair-friendly. The interior was very clean and decorations are both modern and traditional in a well-balanced manner. We ordered kalbi, mandoo soup (mandoo guk), mandoo soup with rice cakes (dduk mandoo guk), seafood pancakes, and bossam (boiled pork shoulder), and dogani tang (boiled oxtail). The dishes were tasty, flavorful, and well balanced in spice. We all enjoyed our food. The higher prices reflect the current economy and are comparable to other Korean restaurants. We will return for sure!

He described everything with such care that it was hard not to order everything! I'd highly recommend a reservation as there was not an empty table the entire two hours we were there. The restaurant is on the smaller side so it can get quite loud but our table had great conversations and a overall lovely time. Appetizer: We ordered the konpachi hush puppies (apologies, they had a nicer name but this is how they were described to us) and they were delicious! I'm not a lover of fish, but these were so flavorful and the sauce paired perfectly with it. Drinks: I had the meringue di cedri to drink and it was akin to a lemon drop (10/10) it was sippable and lasted my whole meal. Husband had the Hana Koa Rice Breaker, which is one of his favorites as its smooth and pairs well with honestly anything. Entree: You will be missing out if you don't get the lemon risotto. I ordered it with the prosciutto and it may be one of the best meals I've had in Hawaii. The zucchini is done two ways in it: diced to be mixed in with the risotto and thinly sliced and grilled on top of the risotto. The panko crumbs on top really solidified the plate for me as top tier as risotto can get to be boring to eat after a few bites as they can lack texture, but not this risotto! Every bite was a journey and it was a very filling meal. My husband ordered the Korean steak and said it was better than some of the local steakhouses we had gone to. Our friend ordered the spaghetti carbonara and enjoyed it as well. Dessert: We were encouraged to try the Rocky Road ice cream and decided it was a must have when you visit. It was creamy, rich and delectable. We also opted to try the dessert special of the evening which was a Lilikoi cheesecake with a chocolate mousse. The cheesecake had a sour tang to it and the chocolate mousse partner with it to balance it out so it wasn't overly sweet. We loved it and I know in a few days we'll be craving this meal all over again!

France meets Italy - meets Hawaii. I'm still dreaming of this. The burger features a thick, juicy, 8-ounce grass-fed patty made from a custom house-selected blend of short rib, chuck roast, and brisket. Get it with the crispy potatoes. You will thank me. Risotto on point. Luxuriously rich, creamy texture. The rice retains a slight al dente bite in the center, giving it structure rather than letting it become mushy. Prosciutto adds a perfect salty, savory crunch to break up the rich risotto. The only misstep was the fries served with the quinoa burger. They were chalky, served at room temperature, limp, and underseasoned. Excellent friendly informal service. Park at the municipal parking on Bethel St just 1/2 block away. Happy Eating!!

She said wasn't spicy but think she just didn't have enough. - Bone Marrow - lit it on fire to burn off the alcohol. Pretty sure it ddin't get it all so I cut baby off once I realized it. The smoked octopus was sliced in pieces that were too thick and a little too chewy and the andouille sausage and black pepper overpowered the dish. Ordered the bourbon and bone marrow mostly for the presentation. It was WAAAY too rich and needed more bread to go with it. They should've served it with bread that wasn't buttered because the buttered bread even though tasty by itself was just too rich in combination with all of that bone marrow. The dish needed more balance. The ice cream sundae was unremarkable. Would have preferred it served with a choice of hot fudge or the caramel drizzle and since it was plain vanilla ice cream they could've drizzled a lot more caramel over it. The waitress did bring us more nuts when we asked, but they were busy at the time and she was the only server so it took her a while to get to us, and the ice cream was pretty melted by the time she delivered. We got there when they opened at 5 PM and they had two servers at that time. The place wasn't busy so it seemed like they had enough help for the amount of tables that were being seated. An hour and a half later, though, one server was missing (possibly taking a lunch break) and the only server remaining at several big parties to take care of which slowed down her responsiveness to the other smaller tables like ours. The music playing in the background seemed to fit the environment and was pleasant to listen to. It's a pretty casual atmosphere. The prices for what you get are a bit on the high end. Probably wouldn't go back unless someone else is paying. We didn't feel too bad this time because we had a gift certificate which covered most of our bill. Maybe we were choosing all the wrong items and should have just stuck to ordering meat dishes, which they might be better at making (with a name like Livestock). You'll have to check this place out yourself and see if they do a better job with meat and if the prices for those dishes are more reasonable. I gave this place four stars instead of three because the servers were friendly, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the food was mostly okay (tasty enough and filling).

It's one of those spaces where you hope the next place finally sticks. But the food at Scratch Kitchen? Absolutely delicious. The kind of meal where the pictures alone make your mouth water. If "smell‑a‑vision" or "lick‑your‑screen" technology existed, everyone would understand exactly what I mean. Every dish was full of flavor, beautifully done, and perfect for a Mother's Day treat. The pastries were just okay; we tried a few cake slices that were fine but unremarkable. The cinnamon roll was dry and hard, the malasadas were forgettable, and the haupia-filled malasada was surprisingly tart. It's possible some ingredients were locally sourced and just unfamiliar to our mainland palates, or maybe we simply caught them on an off day. The servers were curt but friendly, likely because the place was packed with tourists.

My fiance won a gift card actually 2 of them (from his coworker whom could not get a reservation secured), we knew we had to make the trip over before they officially close. We had multiple dishes, but staff made Kauai prawns and tomato miso black cod dishes on the house since they ran out the Hokkaido scallops. We ordered the short ribs, lobster appetizer, hamachi crudo and lastly sashimi moriawase to finish food palate. Lukki lemon dessert was great way to end to night. Ordered the Milk tea bouquet cocktail while my better half had water ( either way the food coma knock him out cold the rest of the night lol). To be honest, it was difficult to determine which dish was the best because the staff kept quality there despite it being busy every night since they announce the closure. Sashimi moriawase, fish was so fresh, reminded me of my time spent in Hokkaido and Sapporo. Short ribs was soft and rich in flavor. Both me and my fiance liked the lukki lemon dessert, like lemon meringue pie but broken down version. If you have a chance to dine here before closing and got a reservation, definitely will have a lovely dining experience and your stomach will be full by end of the night.

The staff were friendly and very helpful with giving us recommendations. We ordered 3 appetizers and 2 entrees, and honestly it was too much food for us. We had leftovers for breakfast the next day! - For appetizers we got: Ulu Tots, Japanese Eggplant, and Corn Beignets. The Corn Beignets was the best. - For entree we got: Tomato Miso Black Cod and the Short Rib. Both were delicious and worth a try. Sad to see that this restaurant appears to be closing.
