Been waiting for a Tiki bar to come to this area for years, and now I have to wait for a good one. OR for this one to Improve immensely. Best part though, Ambience was amazing. Understaffed but they just opened so that should change. Drinks were mostly Ice. Tiki Drinks should have some juice to them, some fun fruity flavors, maybe give us more juice and less ice to add flavor while still saving on your alcohol cost. Some people in the group also complained the drinks were just such strong hard alcohol, If we wanted that we would go to any other old bar. Couldn't get a decent Mocktail or virgin drink. While All other tiki bars have accommodated drinks for the Designated Driver! Food was not good. We had a big party so got to try a lot Noodles: Totally Unflavored, Needs work. Fish: this was actually pretty good, sauce was nice. Poke Nachos: only okay and so small for $24 definitely expected more There is only 3 actual meals, maybe add a chicken one too instead of the Tiny chicken appetizer. I've been to so many amazing Tiki bars in Sacramento, San Francisco, and Santa Cruz and this is the only one I have Not enjoyed. Overall, Disappointing. Really wanted to love this place. My boyfriend & his family all went together (10 of us) for his Birthday. The "family size" portions are enough for 1-2 maybe. And prices are HIGH. I feel that fried rice shouldn't be mushy, needs some green onion, soy sauce, egg, green peas, carrots, etc... it was more like moist rice w an egg on top and some eggplant. Needed more meat and flavor. The drinks were good but 80% ice and $16 each. Menu needs more food and bigger portions, drinks need to be lower in price, so folks can afford to try more than one. Experience based on cocktails (no food). Kapu is a cool new tiki bar and restaurant. Was excited to finally come and visit. We put our name down for a bar seat (approx 30min wait) and then just ordered drinks at the bar and sat near the pinball tables. Drinks are $16 for all classic cocktails and there are a few at $15. At the $16 price point I expected a legit tiki drinks full of flavor and that is not what we got. We ordered a zombie and a jungle bird. Both were lackluster and not balanced. The jungle bird was heavy handed on Campari and it over powered this classic cocktail. The drinks were not a good value for the price point and was also overly juicy, so we decided to just call it after one round. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere is pretty cool, but it's more a family friendly centric tiki bar restaurant compared to others in the bay area, there was quite a lot of kids there when we visited (which is not a bad thing, just helps set expectations as this is more geared towards a restaurant atmosphere than a bar.) If in the future they offer a happy hour, would definitely try them again but it's a bit steep for what you get on cocktails so it's not really my bag. read more

Came here with friends on a Saturday night and it was very disappointing. We were told that there was no table service so you had to grab your own menus, sit where ever you'd like, but order at the bar when ready. We decided to sit at the bar to make it easier. There were 3 people behind the bar and it took 5 minutes to get waters. Meanwhile one of them immediately greeted this group that just walked in the door. Told them what the deal was that night and even told them the food specials. We weren't told the food specials or even acknowledged for another 10 minutes after we got our waters. I had to ask one of the servers behind the bar to order drinks. We had parties on both sides of us and they were asked how they're doing and what they need but not us. We decided to ask for the check and leave. All in all, the environment and the servers were not welcoming, also the drinks were 2/10 at best. They tasted premade. Will not be returning. read more

My group and I are here right now. This place is the hot new thing but unfortunately, it's not worth the prices. We got here at 4:20pm on Saturday. We didn't expect to be seated right away but we didn't expect a 4 hour wait. We made a reservation for as soon as we could and that was 8:30pm. We went walking around and came back at 8:15pm. They let us in to stand at the bar until our table was ready and finally by 8:50pm, we were sat at a table. In that time, we had 2 rounds at the bar before we were seated and found most of our drinks to be disappointing. Once seated, we were also sad to see that coconut shrimp was NOT on the menu so we ordered the poke nachos and wow, the other reviewers weren't joking when they said it was $24 for literally 6 chips and some poke, just look at the picture--we included a lighter for scale. The decor is cool but, just like others have said, the decor doesn't make up for the prices/quality. Sad to say, we left hungry. We're literally headed to In-N-Out now. read more

The ambience set the mood, but the welcoming and helpful staff really sealed the deal. We ordered the Domino and Sesame Chi Chi drinks - both beautifully presented and very tasty. Kapu has only been open a few days but, it's definitely the new hot spot in Wine Country. Oh yes, they make legit tropical cocktails. The interior design is really well done, authentic, funky, kitschy, moody and cool. They play perfect music, a mix of classic island tunes and surf vibes. ‍ We were pleasantly surprised with the excellent service (thanks Mariah ) and the absolutely delicious food. We loved the avocado poke wontons, and perfectly cooked garlic chicken appetizers, and the fried yakisoba noodles and seared, stuffed local rockfish. Insider tip: you absolutely need reservations. (There was a long line of people waiting when we went in - and a long line of people waiting when we left. They did not have reservations.) Currently, they open at 4pm every day except Monday and Tuesday. They plan to open for lunch and play movies on the patio when the weather is warmer. Came back here for a second time and I really loved the upgrades they have made to the food menu! Drinks were super yummy and we had three each. I ordered off menu and they delivered every time. The food menu is much larger, not so pricey as the first time I came and has some more laid back larger portion choices. The Tropical Hotdog was so amazing!!! Best dog in town. I am so excited to have this place in our repertoire of nearby restaurants/bars I could almost cry! My husband and I went here as one of our first outings without our newborn and it was truly the most fun place we could have gone. The drinks were classic and well executed, the food was really impressive quality bar-style tiki food, our waitress checked in a few too many times, but was a sweetheart. The worst experience of my life... the fact that they don't accept ID's that are state issued for Mexicans and said that we NEED to have a military or valid ID witch a Mexican that lives in the United States and bought an ID from the state is just messed up!! We went here on Saturday night, 2/26/24. We had a larger party and were told that they could accommodate us. Our plan was to just get a couple drinks and then move on. Every person we encountered was rude. The host acted like the size of our party was okay, but clearly it wasn't. The server told us we needed to order with her, but then was impossible to find. The bartender lectured us about ordering. As someone who worked in the industry for years I imagine the owner would be ashamed to know their employees treated guests like this. After our first drink most of our party left because of the terrible service. When it became time to pay it took 30 minutes to track someone down.
