Friends brought me here and it lived up to the expectations. It's a smaller restaurant with about a dozen tables. Nicely decorated and clean. We each got a curry noodle dish , edamame and seaweed salad. All very tasty.

Kare Bar is an eclectic Japanese fusion restaurant in Chantilly, VA, known for it's cozy vibe and unique menu. There's plenty of free parking in the lot in the complex near the restaurant. You can make reservations if you'd like, but the place was relatively empty when we went. There's not much seating inside, so I wouldn't recommend going in a group larger than 4 people. The service was okay, it took a while for the dishes to come out and for us to get water. We also let the waiter know that we have a vegetarian in the group and he let us know he was pescatarian and gave us his recommendations. We ordered the miso mushroom udon pasta, which came with fish flakes on top. We asked for it to be re-made without fish flakes and he apologized. In terms of the food overall, the portions were small for the price. The tofu curry came with 4 pieces of fried tofu and a small portion of rice and curry. It was also kinda bland, but was fixed with sauces on the side. There was a good amount of vegetables in the curry though. The pork tonkatsu appetizer and cucumber salad did taste flavorful and were crispy, would recommend. They paired well with the sauces that came on the side as well. The mushroom miso udon was different. The sauce was creamy and umami but needed some spice. Overall, the food isn't really conducive to vegetarians, but the ambiance and vibe are nice for a happy hour.

I'm still LOVING this place!! I come here quite often. I really enjoy their Katsu options, curry, and appetizers. The service is always fast, and there's never a wait. The inside is very cute and aesthetic, but the vibes are casual. You won't regret coming here!

Oh man, let me tell you. This place, oh gosh... I didn't know food could taste this good. Wow. I traveled far and wide, from the swamps of florida to the highlands of the carolina's. After such a treacherous journey I found solitude in this incredible establishment. The service, incredible. The location, aesthetically shocking. And the food, utter bliss. It would be sinful to avoid eating here, as your life would be all the more depressing. I sincerely hope the best for those who have made my time at the Karé Bar so wonderful. End review.

Genuinely surprised about the ramen. This was amazing - umami and rich in flavor. The curry udon was also great - this is their re-work of the dish as it is less soupy and more like a pasta! Ambiance during the day was bright, calm, and cozy. Service was great - no complaints. Would recommend.

Beautiful interior inside (the weather was amazing so we actually sat outside). We ordered the takoyaki appetizer. For the main meals, we chose the donkatsu curry and chicken katsu don. The latter was our favorite but they were all good!

Karé Bar was delicious! We ordered hot tea, grilled mackerel (not filet- so be prepared to use those chopstick bone-picking skills), tonkatsu Karé, tonkatsu curry udon, yuzu and matcha cheesecakes. The cheesecakes were bite-sized, a bit pricey at $7 a slice but very good. All of our selections were cooked well and everything was tasty. Service was also very friendly and attentive. Definitely would come back again!

Great little stop in on a Friday night with the kids -- wasn't too busy and our food was out hot, fresh, and quick. The ambiance was quiet and we didn't feel at all out of place as there were different crowd types (families, friends, couples, etc -- all at home). The menu offers pretty large portions, so I suggest that if you're a parent eating with children like I was -- ordering one main to split with your child if they're not a super hungry eater. One meal portion is generous enough to share. Meal itself was excellent and good for the value. Will definitely be coming again.

Delicious kate spot. I got the curry udon with pork katsu and my friend got udon with shrimp tempura. The curry was thick and rich and the katsu was crispy. The katsu was a bit too thick and tough. Overall still a solid spot!

Really good meal on a cold day. My fiancée and I dined here because we wanted something that sounded warm and hearty and she suggested chicken katsu curry. She ordered the chicken katsu curry and I ordered the tonkatsu curry. I personally believe the tonkatsu was better (if you eat pork), but you can't go wrong with the chicken katsu either. The breading was nice and crunchy and the curry had good flavor. They also provide chili powder and jalapeño paste to spice up your food. The service was very quick and to the point. There wasn't much in the way of hospitality but the cozy interior made up for it. They have a fair amount of seating but if it gets busy, then it may be a lot longer to get a table. There's ample parking as it's in the shopping center with the At Home and many other restaurants.

Food - curry pork cutlet was delicious. They have extra curry powder for those who was more flavor. Sausage was okay for my liking. Udon gave a nice clean taste. Location - plenty of parking spaces. Easy to find this location. Cute decoration throughout the restaurant. Service - attentive and friendly staff. :)

Haven't dined here in a while! Previously when it was all over social media, I decided to give it a try. The food is def a bit on the pricier side, however, I thought quality was good. Currently, I came again (I think my third time now). The hype is for sure down and so is the food quality. The flavor is more mild now and it's not as pleasant to dine there anymore with employee music in the back room on full blast. It's a bit disappointing and disturbing while the atmosphere is meant to be on the chill and calm side. I'd reconsider visiting again having such annoying experience on my most recent visit. On a side note, the service was good. The waitress was very attentive and checked in on us every now and then.

CHANTILLY, VA 20151 / JAPANESE / 07-09-24 / DINNER / Party of 5 +The unagidon was pretty good and the portion size of the protein (eel) was decent. +The Japanese pickled vegetables provided a nice tangy palette. +The jalapeño sauce was a unique fusion twist to add to our entrees. +Customer service was pretty good for a Tuesday evening. +Plenty of parking spaces. -The donkatsu (pork cutlet) and soba noodle could have been better, which I thought would be the star dishes of this establishment. -The restaurant space is a bit tight, but still cozy.

I was definitely shocked to see a line outside before opening with additional folks waiting in their cars. Of course wanting to try the popular items, I ordered the souffle strawberry pancakes along with the Katsu Sando. My eyes being too big I definitely ordered way too much food but I would say the souffle pancake was definitely worth the wait. One point I would make is I wouldn't order it as a to-go order and is a dish you should plan to eat there - the souffle deflates by the time you get home (which I expected and wouldn't blame them). The Katsu Sandwich was also exceptional as well. I feel I'm pretty peculiar with my tonkatsu and the pork was cooked really well (crispy on the outside/juicy on the inside). Would definitely come back again as they definitely have a unique menu vs other spots in the area.

We ultimately enjoyed our meal and will likely try it again the next time we need a change of pace from our go-to spot. The menu possesses a vast array of rolls, the majority of which hover between $15-18. Seeing the prices of the rolls and not knowing what to expect, we ended up ordering six, which ended up as too much food for the two of us. We found the rolls all well constructed and with generous quantities of the fish. The rice itself was passable. The sliced fish quality was decent, and we found the salmon and tuna particularly fresh. The "spicy" fish in the rolls left something to be desired in both the degree of spice/seasoning as well as freshness. The rolls all could have used a bit more saucing, but we enjoyed them nonetheless. The prices here are very reasonable, especially if you order online which yields a 10% discount. My order was prepared more or less on time. Overall, we liked what we sampled and will return in the near future to sample more rolls. Kumo does not quite supplant our usual sushi spot, but it's a welcome addition to a takeout rotation and worth a shot for roll lovers.

The miso eggplant was a nice sized appetizer for sharing and was seasoned nicely. The chicken ramen was also the perfect amount of spicy, had a good ratio of noodles to broth to vegetables, and was presented well.
