I've been here before but never had any specialty roles until I came with a friend cuz they're so big. I think it's the best Sushi Japanese restaurant in the area. We had fried Gyoza to start - very good. And then ordered off the special rolls menu and got a Double Decker, Sunshine, and Caterpillar rolls. WOW! Of course, we dug in instantly and I didn't remember to get a photo until we started to slow down. Each one was unique in that the Double Decker had a sauce on it that was slightly sweet but not overwhelming, Sunshine was rolled in caviar so it had that pop and the Caterpillar was crunchy. Soo Good !!! Met some friend too tonight for an early dinner. I had the tuna sashimi over a nice salad. A seafood soup that was very good and a little bit spicy , which I love. I had a dinner near Jerry-San's, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to visit JS's because it's been on my Try List for a while. I popped in maybe around 8:30 on a Friday night. It was hopping, but there were some tables available. I ordered a Traffic Light Roll to go. Salmon. Tuna. Avocado. Pickled Radish. Wasabi Caviar. The rice was wrapped in nori. I liked this roll a lot. The fish and other ingredients were well cared for. The roll was attractive and tasted very good. I just got a little sample, but my initial impression of Jerry-SAN's matched my impression. The restaurant was comfortable and service was friendly and efficient. 4.5 Stars read more

The inside of the restaurant is clean, organized, and decorated in a somewhat simple fashion. I love this place! It's so cute and cozy. The staff is friendly and attentive. The sushi is the best sushi around. Everything is so fresh. I love sitting at the sushi bar and watching the sushi chef make our sushi. It's truly an art. We've been twice since they opened here and the owner seems to have a very loyal customer base and that says a lot about him and the food. Recently saw that Jerry Sans Sushi (formerly of west haven) has reopened in Branford!! I think it's only been open two weeks and every time I drive by it's packed. Went in on a Tuesday night and it was super busy! My friend loved this place when it was located in west haven. I had the Kani Sald to start, which was great and a nice spicy kick! For rolls I had crunchy spicy tuna and shrimp and avocado roll. Both were great! My dining companions enjoyed their rolls and dishes, although one commented on too much rice in rolls. A bit hidden in location, Jerry-San's is modest on the outside and clean and cute on the inside. The service is excellent; our waitress made sure we always had everything we needed. The sushi is very fresh and you can tell it's made with love. I had seaweed salad, a california roll, rock n' roll and shrimp tempura roll, which were all very tasty. My husband tried the chicken teriyaki dinner which he said was excellent. We went early in the evening and it started to get busy mid meal, so I'm sure it would be super busy at prime time dinner hour. We will return for sure! read more

Everyone kept telling me to visit this restaurant, and now I can see why! From the moment you walk in, you can tell that there are a lot of regulars, and everyone loves coming back repeatedly. it also feels like a very cozy family restaurant. Everyone's favorite sushi guy is Jerry. I always have a great time here. Jerry is so friendly and interactive with his customers. His wife is one of the main hosts, and she is great too, all the staff is. Highly recommend sitting at the sushi bar, and getting to know the chef himself! Great guy, great business. Sushi is very good, and their spicy bomb sauce is one of my favorite sauces ever. I usually leave buying a container of it. Only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because if it's packed there's not a lot of parking or space inside. I've sometimes had to wait awhile , and I find their philly roll to be very fishy. It's a little dark inside the restaurant, but they've got some fun pieces of art on the wall. I love the hand rolls there, and highly recommend their special rolls! WORST MISTAKE EVER!!!! this place is disgusting. i ordered a spicy crunchy kani salad that had ZERO CRUNCH, soggy and warm and smelt like dog food. The rolls were warm as well and pure mush. the service was decent. my sister told the waiter it was tasteless and the waiter tried to makeup for it by bringing over spicy mayo and eel sauce. we then realized the dog food smell and taste was coming from the spicy mayo which was odd???? definitely save the money and time and go down the street to Takumi!!!! WOW. Looks like we have a new favorite sushi place in town! Took my girls out tonight to try Jerry-san's new location. I went to the original location once like 10 years ago - I was underwhelmed but people whose taste I trust raved about it so I chalked it up to an off night. Well, last night, it was spot-on! The quality of the fish is excellent, and their not-entirely-traditional menu is very compelling. I had the double-decker roll and white tuna sushi. Both were delicious! Oh and pork gyoza for an appetizer, which was also excellent. We will be going back again and again! read more
