Love the price point and the service is good, but the song list needs more variety. I wish it had the YouTube option that some other karaoke places have. If you book a longer session, you might start to exhaust yourself of options because the selection is a bit on the dated side with a few new popular songs sprinkled in. Very fun, lowkey spot for karaoke. I enjoyed coming here more than some of the busier places in K-Town, as it is a bit cleaner, newer and less chaotic (even compared to other Duet locations). Staff was very friendly. Drinks were ok but not really the point of karaoke night. They have some snacks, but a big plus is being able to order delivery or bring in your own food. This is my second time coming to this karaoke spot. My first time was over 10 years ago for my prom after party. Not much has changed about the setup of the place. Note that there is no background vocals. The room I was in smelled a little and the sound proof cushion looks chewed out. But it was a decent space. The staff is friendly but checked our ids 3 times cause they got a little confused? They don't let you bring your own drinks in - you have to leave it at the bar in the front. If someone in your party is underaged, you have to go out to the bar to order your drinks. If you want plates and utensils, they give you a pack of 10 sets for $2.50 or something like that. I had my daughter's sweet 16 there for about 25 girls this past Saturday night. Besides that they seem understaffed the event was generally as I expected Fine . However when we checked in they asked for my card to do a pre authorization, no problem. When I checked out they asked if they wanted the entire bill of $944 on the card They swiped. Sure no problem processed signed the bill done. Unfortunately, on Monday I was billed a second time for $944. It is now five business days later and while I've gotten a couple of texts from the manager there saying it's the way their POS system works!! and the money will get back in my account. Very kind, professional and attentive staff. The drinks and snacks are moderately priced. Private rooms are exceptionally clean and organized, which separates Duet places from a lot of private room places in Manhattan. For $100 you can blow of some steam screaming your favorite songs. The music is entered through a modern touchpad that takes just a minute to work. Staff gladly helps you with it and any other issues you may have. The sound system and mics are very good as is the room sound insulation. Such a fun time! I went with a group of my family members and husband around 1 in the morning after dinner, and it was fun! My cousin said he likes to sing so I'm like ok let me look up a karaoke spot nearby the area we were in at the time and this place popped up. First time going there and we were happy with the way the place is set up. You get your own private room with a tablet to choose songs to sing, microphones, the speakers, you can control the temperature of the room, couches and tables. They charge per hour and you pay after. They call your room when it gets closer to your time being up. They do have drinks and snacks to purchase as well. I want to like this establishment but I'm just not impressed. I usually go to the 34th one but it was not available. I reserved 5-6 people for 2-3 hours on a Saturday night. The staff were patient and accommodating if our party was not ready. The room however felt too humid and the floor and tables were sticky. The seats were comfy but a little dirty. The song lists were all too confusing and none of them had newer songs. All songs listed were by tablet and no longer in book format. If you want to order food you can order from outside or order a little bit of food there and drinks. The staff were incredibly helpful to us and very kind. They helped make it a wonderful day of Karaoke. Myself and 14 friends came for a reservation, and we had an incredible time. The room was large and cool enough despite the crowd, once the fans were going. The seats were comfortable, and the drinks were timely. The prices are reasonable and I highly recommend coming here. There were only a few songs that we wanted to do that we couldn't find, but even so, we had more than enough songs to fill our four hour reservation. I always choose karaoke duet when I'm out partying with friends. It's a Japanese style karaoke so you have private rooms all in different sizes depending on your party size. They have a pretty large directory of songs and some in different languages too! You can also order drinks and some snacks here. Prices are on par with a night out in the city. Some versions of songs are off in terms of key or lyrics but overall, it's a good, affordable venue and you'll hear people happily singing their hearts out depending on time of day (in this case, Sunday evening). The song selection was so so, there were certain new songs I didn't expect to be available and others that were less recent but not featured. The service was okay, the bouncer gave off a very very serious vibe (I understand his job is to protect but he seemed very intense) and the person up front gave me an attitude when I went to the bar to order a drink, rather than use the phone in the room where everyone was scream-singing. We opted for waiting and I'm glad we did. We booked the room for 1 hour but ended up extending it for 2 hours because we were having so much fun. The room was a bit smaller than other karaoke spots I've been to but it worked fine for 5 of us girls. We ended up paying about $25 each which wasn't bad at all considering we got a round of beers and some food. Karaoke Duet 48 is a decent Karaoke bar in Midtown East. The best part about this place is that All the Duets (35, 48 and 53) have Karaoke Marathon. During the Karaoke Marathon, you can sing for 4 hours for $14 from opening to 8 pm. Some Duet's let you bring your own food but drinks must be bought from the bar. I joined some friends here 2 years ago for a Karaoke Marathon. Jando was leaving for HK and we didn't know if he would return. Astrid was kind enough to organize a karaoke UYE after a Yelp Event. It was so much fun! So many people showed up to sing, dance, sing in a group, croon at another. It was great time. The selection of songs was decent, the sound was good (no reverberating), and the mics worked. The books were clean and not sticky. The tables were clean. We had a great time! The problems were with payment, booking the room and parking (there is little to no parking so you have to park in the garage). Other than that, I would definitely return for the Karaoke Marathon. read more

Let me start off by saying the drinks here are pretty good and reasonably priced. The room that me and my friends had was not clean upon entering. As we walked in the room, the employee that led us there started to clean up leftover pizza boxes from the previous party. The song selection wasn't really updated. We're in 2019 almost 2020 so we expected to have songs from 2018 there as well, they didn't. You have to request to have them bring water to the room. One would assume that people singing their hearts out for THREE hours would need water readily available lol. My friends and I have once been affectionately dubbed "karaoke gremlins"--in other words, we're really big fans of karaoke. When we were in Japan for a few months, we'd stop by a karaoke place about weekly because it was affordable and the selection was endless. And all you can drink! Hours of karaoke from the night until the early hours of the morning! Things to miss back in America for sure. Anyway, Karaoke Duet is what I'm thinking is as close as you can get to the places in Japan. We stopped by for the marathon times, six straight hours of karaoke from opening to the early evening at eight for a decent, flat rate. No overnight stays here, but still a chance to sing almost as much you want! Outside food is allowed and drinks were cheap. There's a selection for English, Korean, Chinese, and Japanese songs (you can find more songs via their request codes on the Live Dam site). AND Japanese songs included furigana (my kanji skills are subpar)! I'm thoroughly impressed. Solid place. Will be returning countless times for sure. read more

Compared to the rest of the Duet clan in the city, 48 is by far the prettiest. Folks who visit 35 have to crawl up a seedy set of stairs and 53 is steeped in a pseudo-claustrophobic low ceiling basement. 48 answers the call for east side karaoke fans and remote enough to keep the crowds at bay. The rooms collectively here are probably the largest in the chain. Like the other locations, it's still strictly private room and staffed with a robust smiling, Japanese staff ready to serve. Bathrooms are nicer here than 35, but of course, given time and many drunk Saturdays that is likely to change. What keeps Duet on the top of the karaoke food chain is their incredible song selection and all of that goodness is very much alive here. English songs to rival even the Karaoke Champ system (http://www.yelp.com/biz/karaoke-champ-new-york) and other language books to keep the singing polyglots satisfied. Where Duet 48 loses a star is their room setup. Sure, it's grand and looking uber modern / contemporary, but many of the middle hallway rooms don't have private climate control. So if the group is hot, they have to call the front desk to turn on the AC and vice versa for heat. Something may have occurred in the initial construction of this joint. Secondly, the sound system settings never seem to be universal, so some rooms sound like they have speakers blown out while others don't have enough volume to hear the song. Technical issues have been more frequent here than others, which is not a huge deal but one worth noting. If I find myself on the east side of Midtown with the urge to karaoke it up and feel like BYOF(ood)'ing? I'm still coming here. The group reserved for 3 hours... ended up being $8/person, which isn't too bad. The place is kinda interesting in that it's really a narrow hallway full of karaoke rooms. Additionally, there's only 1 bar and that's by the entrance, which can be an annoyance at times. They don't have any real food options either, just some packaged snacks. You can however order in food. The room we got was pretty big and could fit about 15 or so people comfortably. Songs were decent. I have come here for the past two years since I used to work nearby and it was the perfect place for what we deemed "Karaoke Therapy". A place to belt out our frustrations and enjoy one another's company at what we felt was an affordable price. There are happy hour specials 1/2 off certain bottles and drinks daily from open until 8PM, and we would either come in for a few hours which is only $4 an hr on weekdays before 8PM or the marathon hours $14 set price for more than 3 hours. I planned an Unofficial Yelp Event for President's Day and expected a large group of Yelpers that had signed up for the event. Upon arriving, I was told that because I booked the largest room (28ppl) all people attending would have to pay $14 even if they only came for a few hours until we reached the 15 people minimum. I was told over the phone when I booked the room that there is a 15 people minimum for the room, but not that everyone would have to pay $14, I felt bad about not having been able to communicate that. In any case, the weather was not the best so I hoped the staff would be a bit more lenient about cancellations. I wanted plates for serving and eating since I had brought chips, pretzels, and sweet treats I wanted to have available at the tables. When I asked for them the servers said I would have to pay $2 for a few measly plates. Not cool! Anyway, I had brought a tray from home and was able to serve the chips on it. I also asked for pitchers of water to have available and they said I could only get two pitchers I found that weird but happy we at Least had water available. The Karaoke part was awesome, sound was good, song selections pretty good and drink specials also good. At the end of the night we only had a 13 people head count so I ended up having to pay $28 for the two people missing:( If you are booking the largest room please make sure you have the 15 people minimum and that you tell everyone they will have to pay the marathon price $14 until more than 15 people arrive if those are the hours you booked the room for. If you are with a group who enjoys embarrassing themselves in front of one another, you should definitely sing some karaoke at Duet 48. Came here at 4:45pm Saturday after unlimited drinks at brunch nearby. Walked in with 8 people, no reservation and it wasn't a problem. They have a great happy hour special, so liquor drinks and bud lights and shots are $3 each until 8pm. They charge you per person/per hour so early on it was $6 each and then it went up to $9 each, which is so reasonable. We ended up singing and partying for 4 or 5 hours. Longest I have ever been at karaoke. The staff was super nice and friendly, brought our drinks quickly. They could use some updated song books, but other than that, this place is great! read more

We were looking for a place to do karaoke while we are in town. This is the place! It can be very crowded during the weekend, make sure to get reservation. We went on Saturday after 8pm so it was $8/person/hour + tax. Pretty good deal. Only downside that they only accept one payment. This place offers a lot of songs on different language like Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Korean, English. They even updated new English songs, which is a plus. Staffs are very helpful and fast. Also if you go with group that someone is not 21, you have to drink your alcohol outside of the room. The woman also reminds us that in Sept, they are not taking underage after 8pm. With brand new rooms, equipment and other fandango and Friday night pricing at $8/person/hr this looked like a great place to get your singing on. It is a little bit out of the way by public transport when compared to the selection of karaoke joints in K-Town, but every neighborhood needs their KTV right? Song selection is vast (I only dealt with their English songs) and they update their song catalog every month. What's great is they actively take requests. So if you want a song that's not in their books, they can get them in their update. Like the 35th street location the staff here were extremely friendly. In fact they were kind enough to hook us up with a big room over at the 35th location since the room we booked didn't exactly work too well with the growing number of people, trying to slot us in between other reservations was a bit difficult. With 14 rooms, they have quite the selection, and prices aren't bad for the rooms - $5-8/person depending on the day per hour, and drinks and food extra, of course. A full bar, if you want something specific. The rooms are simply furnished with a few small tables to move around, and the sound and microphone system works just fine. Phones in the rooms let you order more things or let them know the microphones are dying. Songs - - plenty of English songs, and requests for new ones can be left with the cashier. They handle multiple credit cards & different amounts pretty easily, too! I think you can ask for other language books, too. Definitely clean, too. One of the better karaoke places in the city! I like this place better than it's sister location in ktown (duet35) because this place is cleaner and less crowded. Song selection is great! Tons of English songs, from old school ones to current hits. They also have songs in other languages! Their songbooks are clean so you don't have to worry about touching sticky pages when looking for your song. Songs come up on flat screen TVs, sometimes there's the actual music video of the song, other times there's not. Microphones are cordless so you don't trip over any wires. Staff is very friendly. There is someone that checks your ID before letting you in though, so I'm guessing you need to be at least 21 if you're going there in the evening. Drinks are cheap (always a good thing!) $4 beers, $6 cocktails. Non-alcoholic drinks range from $2-$3 (tea, soda, juice). They also offer wine, shochu, sake, and other types of liquor. Major plus: Free ice water that you can pour for yourself from a pitcher located at the bar. Room sizes vary from small to large. Large rooms can easily accommodate 20 people with room to spare. They have a coat rack in each room where you can hang up your coats and baskets to hold your purses, bookbags, etc. Karaoke prices are pretty decent. They charge by person per hour. $6-$8 per person per hour during the evening. $4-$5 during the daytime. They also have a super sweet deal if you're an avid singer - $10-$12 for you to sing as long as you want until 8pm. Only downfall is that this place is in the middle of nowhere... no restaurants or anything that's open late nearby so it's a pretty deserted area outside during the nighttime. This location has more rooms than it's sister Duet 35. It's a lot nicer and I believe, newer than Duet 35. Some songs that contain profanity were either dubbed or re-worded, however there is one song that I sang which the lyrics were original and true to the artist--Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know." The staff is attentive by cleaning up rubbish of empty glasses and plates of food. Patrons who come here frequently is surely on their way to stardom with American Idol! read more

One of the better karaoke options for the midtown east area, though not as nice as the other DUETs in my opinion. For seating, there is a tiny bench against the window overlooking the entrance. This is substantially less waiting space than there is at DUET 35 or 53. (To be fair, 48 would seem to be much less popular than the other two, so waiting is not as big of an issue). Along the same vein, DUET 48 has proven to be a much easier same-night, last-minute reservation than 53, and far easier than 35. Same amenities as the other locations--free water pitchers outside, which is a huge plus for anyone who's experienced first and how much of a drag it can be persistently asking for karaoke places to deliver some water. Same excellent pricing of around $8pp during prime hours and your punch cards from the other locations are also good here! read more

Came here with a group of 9 under a reservation for 10-12. I'm very glad that we were still allowed to use the room although one friend was not able to make it. We checked in 10 minutes late so the room was reserved 10 minutes later then we had thought it would be. There is a hallway leading away from the bar with separate rooms. If you have someone under 21, then you will literally need to drink at the bar in the store front... Away from your party. I guess the workers are just informing the law.
