Daing na Bangus w/ extra milkfish
    Marlon T.

Without a doubt this is my favorite restaurant since moving to New York. I eaten at Karenderya a month ago and my taste buds went wild then soon as I left I was instantly craving their food. Finally made it back with my visiting parents who were craving the same thing! My parents ordered Daing na Bangus with an extra milkfish because it is that delicious to them! I enjoyed the tocino last visit so I decided to be adventurous try other items lo and behold the Adobo Pork Belly was exquisite. The pork belly was marinated well filled with flavor from the first bite and it simply melted in my mouth. Let's say we all cleaned our plates. The atmosphere is a homey feeling serving us homemade food made with love, welcoming hospitality and food served in a timely manner. We will be back again hopefully to become a regular!

Went on an impromptu drive from NYC as a pre-birthday brunch on the 22nd. My husband knows this has been on my list for the longest time since I read about their Chef, Chef Paolo making it as a Semifinalist for Best Chef: New York State for the 2023 James Beard Foundation Awards. I was pretty excited on a Sunday morning and they accommodated my last minute reservation on email. Appreciated that very much as the place was pretty full when we got there. No designated parking so just have to rely on street parking but not really hard to find if you're determined! :) Place was pretty small and no-frills but clean, there were 3 people who ensured good service. This was going to be our OMAD (One Meal A Day) so we ordered a lot to be able to try as much. Started off with Lumpia which was pretty good but a little salty. The Adobo Pork Belly was delicious but the Chicken Tocino was the highlight among all the dishes that day, and that's coming from someone who doesn't really order Tocino often. We also ordered Kare Kare and it was good. We also ordered food to go to reheat and enjoy during the week : Beef Tapa (good!), the Rib Sinigang (wish there were actually more soup), Pansit Bihon (delicious and used quality shrimps!) and the Shrimp Coconut Adobo (again, great quality of shrimps used as well as size and portion). Glad we were able to visit and try! :)

Mar. 2025: We celebrated my father's birthday and ordered a variety of dishes at Karenderya. If you can't make up your mind on what to go with, no worries on feeling pressured to choose. They are patient. We loved our experience here and can't wait to come back. See photos on what we ordered!

Longanisa takes 30 mins to make so I opted for the chicken tocino which was fabulous. I wish I didn't live so far, I'd try their whole menu

Karenderya is among the best and only Filipino spots in Rockland, and it has fair prices and delicious food. The service was pretty slow (entrees took almost an hour to come out), but the staff were friendly and they seemed pretty busy and understaffed overall. We got there around noon on a Sunday, and there were still plenty of tables, but it got busier as the day went on. We got the Lumpiang Shanghai as an appetizer which was solid and flavorful. I also got the Adobo Pork Belly Garlic Fried Rice Bowl. It costs extra for the garlic fried rice, but it's definitely worth it-- it kicked up the savory flavors to a new level. The pork belly was a little salty for my taste, but super tender, well-marinated, and full of flavor. All the bowls seemed really good, and I'd highly recommend them-- my mom got the Beef Tapa Garlic Rice Bowl, and the beef was similarly delicious, tender, and well-marinated. We also got the Biko (sticky rice cake) & Turon (banana lumpia) for dessert-- both of which were delicious. I especially enjoyed the biko-- it was sticky with perfect hints of sweet coconut flavor. -- Price (relative to peers): 4.5/5 Food: 4.5/5 Ambience: 4.5/5 Service: 4.5/5 Overall Value: 4.5/5

It small but very family friendly they have a children's corner with a little area to play and toys. They get packed quickly but food is absolutely amazing. We order catering from there because its so amazing. All the staff is so friendly. The owner is super sweet. Highly recommend!

Love this place. Went here last night. Its like going to a family dinner very cozy. Food is always fresh and cooked perfectly. You really have to come here. Anything on menu is great

Very good food! We even managed to feed a vegetarian guest who never had Filipino food before! Our favorites are the lumpia and the Daing na Bangus with Garlic Rice. Hits for everyone at the table. Even the vegetarian lumpia was chunky and had the same great crunch as the Shanghai lumpia We also enjoyed calamansi juice with chia seeds! Very soothing and hard to find Cheryl our server was attentive and the wife of the owner! She also helped us with a birthday surprise Really great experience for a newer Filipino restaurant, we had a wonderful time

I have ate here twice now and each time was excellent. The first time we grabbed our order to go and the second time we dined in. The spot is really special with it's cozy and inviting atmosphere (beautiful wooden tables with mismatched wooden chairs and beautiful glass water bottles if you order water for your table). It's a rather small restuarant but don't let that fool you, the flavors are all umami! This place always seems to be fairly busy so please practice patience, as they are a smaller business. They are a very kind, hard working family and provided great service with fantastic recommendations. We enjoyed several items off the menu including: Lumpiang Shanghai (these mini egg rolls are divine and the spicy banana ketchup was amazing) , Mini Pork Empanadas (the empanadas melt in your mouth and the sweet chili dipping sauce was phenomenal), Fried Crispy Chicken (we got this with the garlic rice bowl and it was some of the best fried chicken and garlic rice I have ever tasted), and the Pansit Bihon (we got the shrimp pansit and it was so tasty). For dessert: Turon (3 spring rolls with fried plantains and jackfruit filling, think mini fruit pies-so good!) and Cassava Cake (almost reminiscent of flan. Creamy, custardy, and very delicious!)

Great service and a good selection of Filipino specialties. Really loved the tamarind wings, pork adobo, Bicol express, and daing. Loved how the shrimp pancit used jumbo shrimp. Must get halo halo too!! Has good ube halaya. They have about 5 tables inside and some outdoor seating. Definitely try if you are in the area.

Who knew that there's a world-class Filipino eatery tucked away in an unassuming storefront at the edge of downtown Nyack, NY? If Anthony Bourdain were alive today, this would be his kind of place. Where there is no pomp and circumstance, but every dish you try is so *bleeping* good you will remember it for years to come and where the family that owns it treats you like family even though you've only just met. I got the crispy chicken rice bowl with garlic rice and was so glad I upgraded. While the chicken was first class, super tender and fried to a perfect crisp, the rice was simply out of this world. So flavorful, and something I'll be working on recreating at home for sure. My mom got the veggie pansit, which was also full of flavor and perfectly balanced. The crispy tofu was also next level. And this epic culinary journey cost all of $11.50 per dish. Unbelievable. Wheelchair access: Two of the outdoor patio tables are on the street level and fully accessible. There is a big step at the Main Street entrance but there is a barrier free entrance around the corner where the outdoor dining patio is. Not sure about restroom as I didn't use it.

Wow! The best Filipino restaurant I think I've ever been to. Everything we ate was delicious: the wings, the bangus, the vegetables, even the calamnsi dressing in the cucumber tomato side salad was great...I can't wait to go back and try more of the food!

We drove out here to see the fall colors on a nice Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately it was a bit too early but the drive up the Palisades is good. We were interested in the preparation and food fusion Karenderya were offering. Compared to other Filipino spots, we found them ok. Similar ordering to city spots. Order at the counter and they will bring you the food. Small but well thought out menu of classic Filipino dishes. The decor was fine. Chairs and tables are mismatched and space could be better managed with a large bar in the corner that doesn't seem to belong for the type of fast casual restaurant it seems to present. Food overall was also ok. Garlic rice is very, very garlickly. Presentation and tastes were also ok. Service is friendly but inconsistent. Water and utensils are self service. Popular items do run out. Overall just ok. Food could be more balanced and not be overwhelmed with garlic.

I ordered the lumpia pork which were amazing but tiny. The sweet sauce was ok, tasted more like duck sauce than sweet chili. I may have been unlucky there with the pour. But the lumpia were very authentic and full of flavor. The pancit was a let down, the noodles were still a bit raw and not much in terms of seasoning or flavor. It was a huge let down as it's usually one of my favorite Filipino dishes to order. The place had a good crowd inside and lots of to go orders being picked up. Will definitely try again as the food was decent despite the let down with the pancit. I did cook the noodles a little longer at home and added more seasoning and it became amazing. So taking it as a tiny error on their part otherwise it would have been a 5 star review. Since some reviews mention they only cater to Filipinos that is not true at all from my experience. I'm not Filipino and they were warm and friendly. (Not even sure why I have to put this, but seems to be necessary as the 1-3 star reviews all claimed they got poor food and service cause they were not Filipino)

This Asian fusion spot in a nondescript plaza has a large menu with a lot of small plates/street food, baos (with varying fillings), tacos/quesadillas/tostadas, curry, traditional Asian dishes, poutine, burgers, noodles like pad thai and plenty of veg-friendly items. We most enjoyed the chicken empanadas (generous filling, good flavor), cod tacos, and vegetarian spring rolls. The tofu lettuce wrap didn't have a strong flavor even though it seemed to have a lot of sauce. The beef Jerky (a bit tough and chewy) and vegetarian dumplings were okay, but not favorite items. We didn't order any items that were larger portion and it's very easy to rack up the bill with $9-12 small bites. Inside, you could forget that you're in suburbia because this place is pretty trendy. There's artwork and words on the wall and the menu tries to be clever (succeeds in some ways but not necessarily to grammar snobs). There's a 3% surcharge for credit card purchases. There's a Chinese food restaurant and Taimoca coffee place in the plaza as well.

My personal favorite is the lechon kawali paired with their garlic rice. It is crispy, rich, and packed with flavor. The dining space itself is cute, cozy, and very clean, making it a perfect little date night spot. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, which adds to the overall experience. It isn't the fastest service, so I wouldn't recommend coming here if you're on a time crunch. It's a great place to sit down and relax, and really enjoy the food. One thing to keep in mind is that their hours can be a bit unusual, so it's definitely worth checking ahead before you go. Location-wise, it's also a great stop. So when Hapág Bistro popped up in my Yelp pages- in Highland, NY no less and conveniently close to work- I was in. Hapág is cozy the second you step in here. My eyes immediately went up to the ceiling where these folks have faux greenery+florals hanging across the space. It actually softens Hapág and adds a little "nature". I was here on a tight clock and didn't have time to sit down for a full meal. But while I looked at the menu at work, one thing immediately jumped at me: halo-halo. This thing is sweet. It's a sweet explosion of shaved ice, creamy ube goodness, jellies, fruit and leche flan tucked in like little treasures. Then comes the ice cream on top tying the whole shit together. Every spoonful is cold, creamy and sugary in the best way. Shoutout to my girl Danielle, who was super pleasant and had one of those smiles that totally makes the place feel even more welcoming. Next time I'll actually stay long enough to eat real food- but for a quick pop-in, Hapág came out on top with dessert alone.
