Only Filipino restaurant in long island that is actually close by to us rather than going to the city. We were able to take Joey's dad to this Filipino restaurant that we like so much. Got our usual dishes - Lechon Kawali - 2x Garlic rice - Kare Kare Oxtail stew - beef kaldereta - stewed beef, carrots, olives, potatoes - bistek - mandarin beef steak, sauteed onions, Service this time was extremely bad. We got there around 5ish on a Friday before the crowds got there and we ordered our food already before this large party came in. But their food came out first and we waited for our food almost 35 mins or longer. The place had a small dining room area. It seemed to be partly under construction when we went but it was blocked by a wall structure. The server was very nice. The food was interesting. I was trying to read through the menu, however some in our party ordered for us. The Lumpia was really good. The soup was a little salty. The fried pork was a little hard to pull apart. I happened to stumble into this area after work and I was surprised to see a Filipino restaurant so deep in Long Island, I love Filipino food so much that I wanted to check it out. It is so close to the Ronkonkoma train station so the commute was easy. When we walked in we were surprised to see how beautiful the interior of the restaurant was. The chairs and tables were white, and it looked super fancy. When we got the menus we were surprised to see that our favorite Filipino food was super affordable, we got the Chicharon Bulkalak (deep fried pig intestine), the Lechon Kawali (fried pork belly), Sisig Pork with Egg, and a large order of Garlic Fried Rice. Each item we got was super tasty and delicious and extremely affordable (everything came out to just $53 for 2 people and a LOT of leftover food to take home). The waiter was also attentive and gave us a lot of iced water whenever we ran low. I loved how crispy the Chicharon and Lechon were, and the flavors of the Sisig were also unbeatable. I really enjoyed the mixture of pork flavor in that dish and the onions and bell peppers to really compliment each flavor. Ordered breakfast from here. We usually order from the asian best grocery store but decided to try this place. The food was good but my husband prefers the other place because their salsa has mango in it. Also he thinks the meat was a little dry from here. The restaurant is pretty big, clean and white. We made sure that we swing by at this place after visiting the Tulip farm in Manorville . It's been in my list to check out. We came in during the middle of the day on a humpday. We were the only one in the place. Aesthetically pleading , full white color theme. Classy... until I see the colorful flag banners hanging by the ceiling. It must be a happy place during nighttime, assuming on weekends cause I see band set on one corner, and bar on the other corner. We placed our order and while waiting , we went to the small grocery spot they have in another corner and browse some favorite Filipino snacks and groceries. Price is a bit high comparable Queens location prices. Then we dined. Food is alright. I was craving for Lomi and was disappointed with my order. It was not what I imagined. Pleased with the service though. The wait staff here is so friendly. Our waitress good recommendations and great personality made our dining experience a pleasurable one. Greetings Yelpers, Kabayan grill was an unexpected yet welcome find. The venue has a metro feel to it as far as decor yet maintains the clean and airy feel upon entering. A lovely fountain with greenery and a couch which I'm sure many a couple take selfies. There is a full bar with entertainment on the weekends & a happy hour. Food was excellent sorry about no photos as it was a take away order that I was bringing to a Filipina friend & tKe away container's do food little justice. Order consisted of fresh lumpia, Sinigang Na Hipon, Lechon Kawali, Halo Halo & Brazon De Ube. Take note: I went during their soft opening so things were a bit hectic and disorganized. The owner acknowledged that they need to work out the kinks before the grand opening. Forewarning: it took a long while for your order to be ready whether you decided to dine in or take out so you might want to order food then look at grocery store instead of standing around waiting. The chefs and servers were overwhelmed by the number of customer orders on this day so give them a chance to figure out their strategy. Some other items that they might want to take into consideration. 1) It was confusing for the cashier, who had to take care of the grocery store checkout and the payment for the diners. 2) There is no sign for the customers who wish to dine, order take out, or the grocery store so you stand there until you wander to the hot food counter then the grocery store. Came here since I didn't get a chance to visit their Woodside location. I noticed past reviews were for the food truck; this is for the storefront. March 16th was this store's soft opening with the grand opening in a few weeks. ----- Walked in: bright white little hallway with modern decorative light covers. At the end of the hallway, if you turn right, you saw the tables to dine in, and if you turn left, you saw pick up prepacked food, order take out. If you go a bit further in, there's a 2 aisle grocery stores ranging from frozen items to snacks, drinks to beauty products. The real nice thing was the items are the well known brands. The grocery store is lights but not as bright as the dining room. The aisle is narrow and can only fit 1 person. We walked in a little after 7PM. After purchasing drinks, we decided to order take out since it was getting late and the restaurant closes at 8PM. Ordered: Lumpia Shanghai: was not bad, not burnt though it could have been taken out a little earlier. Chicken BBQ Skewers: were well marinated and tender. Lechon Kawali: was mostly fatty which is not to my taste. The fried pork skin was great. Kare Kare: was good. Flan: was a bit stiff. Actually this item was left out after everything was packed up, the person packing the items only packed there cooked food and didn't look at the check. I tried to call the restaurant when I realized we were missing the flan but they were closed. Called the restaurant the next day, they apologized and asked me what time am I coming to pick up my missing item. Thank you for the apology and giving me the flan. Think I might try the food again after a few weeks though I do like the grocery store. Give it try and determine for yourself. read more

3.5 stars Noticed same decor as the one in Woodside, Queens which we haven't tried bec usually packed. Same owner. Has a grocery store when you turn left from the entrance. Food was good. Kare-kare had a lot of meat. I tried the kambing but was a bit chewy for me. Stopped by after leaving my brothers house. I was actually on my way to another spot down the road when I saw this food truck in a parking lot. I have been to the Kabayan Grill in East Meadow several times and was wondering if they were affiliated. I found out they were, so I immediately ordered my two favorites, the lumpia and the Kare Kare. I hope this food truck stays around for a long time. Because everything I had was delicious and tasted just as good as if I was at the East Meadow brick and mortar store. Plump porky lumpia and the Kare Kare was seasoned perfectly and the oxtails & tripe were very tender. It's nice having some Filipino choices branching out East. Was looking for a place for authentic ethnic food and found this! We didn't have much experience with Philippinal food but we were willing to try everything. The menu was filled with various dishes! You surely will be able to order something you like! You may feel overwhelmed when you see the menu, but the server gave us some recommendations. The calamari was phenomenal!! They were big chucks of squid. If you're a seafood lover, you should order it! We also had garlic rice, deep fried pork belly and a grilled chicken tight (don't remember the names). They had very unique tastes and the dipping sauces were great! Pork belly wise, if you can't take fatty food, you may want to avoid it. We enjoyed it but I am quite sure not everyone will love it. Unfortunately, this is probably one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had. Keep in mind - I'm not one to post negative reviews often. Waited about 1 1/2 hours, after ordering, before our food came out. This was after we mentioned this to our waiter (who almost never checked in on us), after seeing everyone around us whom came after us, served with food. The waiter kept giving us plates/cups for 4 ppl, when we were a group of 5, and when I requested more, it took him forever to get it to us. The plates were also somewhat dirty. The waiter never bothered to apologize or acknowledge that our order was delayed or had been missed. I asked for a bowl for my son (1 yr old) to serve food to him in and he said he didn't have one - meanwhile they did have bowls. By the time we actually got our food, we were all too upset and frustrated to even enjoy it. It also took another 20 minutes for the waiter to get our check, once we asked for it. He NEVER checked in on us at all the entire time. Literally had to hunt him down to get anything done. To make matters MUCH worse, at 6 pm, they started playing incredibly loud karaoke music and the speaker was literally right in front of our table. With no regards to us or the fact that we were seated right in front - they played the music on high volume. My family and I could barely talk or chat to one another, let alone enjoy our meal. The food was okay. Sinagang was good and the Ukoy. All else like the adobo, chicharron, crispy pata, fish, chicken bbq sticks, etc. were just okay. Nothing amazing in my opinion. Prices seem unreasonable for what you're getting and the service provided. The restaurant decor is very confusing. The outskirts of the restaurant seems dapper and fancy (chandeliers, white all around, bar, etc.) but when you walk in, there's an informal grocery store to the left, which takes away from the ambiance. It's also very mixed in decor because the dishes, utensils, chairs, etc. are all very plain and dull. Please note: For any parents of toddlers/young ones, they do not have high chairs. Very unfortunate because the whole experience from top to bottom was absolutely TERRIBLE. I'm half Filipino, so I enjoy the cuisine as does my family who was born and raised there. So we were all looking forward to our visit. But I will never be going back. Ever. Total dining experience: 2 1/2 hours = 15 mins waiting for order to be taken + 1 1/2 hours waiting for food + 20 waiting on check with 25 minutes of actual eat time! read more

As a child living in a high rise condo in middle of Tokyo, I had a food fantasy of eating a whole roasted pig like the ones I've seen in classic Disney cartoons. 35+ years later, my dream has finally come true when I ordered a 30 pound Lechon from Kabayan grill for my father's retirement party. The Lechon stole the show! It was the most dramatic centerpiece of the party, and it was DAMN delicious. The meat was moist and full of flavor, and the skin was light and crispy. We were so impressed by it that we couldn't stop commenting on it. If anyone needs to throw a very impressive party, I'd definitely recommend ordering one. I placed my order ONLINE, their pancit canton and arroz caldo, and when the order got delivered, I opened them up quickly! because that 16 oz white plastic deli container is dangerously made of BPA and other chemicals, especially when the food is placed HOT! so, the arroz caldo wasSALTY! I was unable to eat it until I get myself a fresh lemon at the store. Then, next was the pancit canton, also SALTY. These food are going to give me abnormal high blood pressure or hypertension, they are unhealthy! Hope the chef is listening and would put LESS SALT, next time. If you can substitute the good salt, pls do so, use the HimalayanSALT or the Pinoy rock SeaSALT! they are healthier than the regular American TABLE salt loaded with chemicals. Finally a nice Filipino store to dine in. The price is slightly on the higher end but the ambiance makes up for it. The menu had such a variety we couldn't decide what to order , I felt like we ended up ordering everything. For dessert we had the ube braso de Mercedes and it must be the best i ever had! March 26, 2023 around 5:30pm. Dear Cherry. We grew up in Queens and a big fan of Kabayan restaurants. . My wife and I ordered four dishes plus Halo-halo. That's a lot for two people. Some dishes are good some are ok. Sometimes a dish is not great, or so we think. It's normal to complain as a customer. The truth the dish is not the main problem. It's the server. The staff who was wearing "Just do it" shirt gave us an attitude after we complain about the "ukoy." Growing in Queens eating at all the Kabayan restaurants, we have an expectation. I spoke so softly because I am scared of her. Then she said "Speak up, I can't hear you." So repeated myself and she impulsive became defensive without saying "I am sorry". The more my wife and I explained, she become more irate, it's counter attack. For someone who doesn't cook, I thought it was sautéed. Yes she took off the bill, but must she really chastised us, the Kabayan's customer. Since then every time she went around, she greet all the tables around near (near the cashier) and asked them how are they. She even giggled except to us. She gave us the look while passing our table. I guess we are not allowed to complain. Later on, while smiling at everyone, she just dropped the bill w disrespectfully. She literally dropped it. When it's time to pay, we approached her nicely, we said she could have just say sorry about the ukoy, no need to defend herself. She responded, "Well you gave me attitude!" Wait did she just admitted that she gave us attitude deliberately? Not only did she defend herself, she make sure we knew that she had a reason to be angry at her customers. She gave an excuse. Just left Kabayan Portion Rd, very disappointed. Sat for 20 mins without any servers providing water, silverware etc, not taking our order. Another family walked in right after us and received the proper greeting and service as my family (with young kids) did not. After trying to make eye contact with the waitresses, saying excuse me to get their attention- nothing. Could they be that oblivious ? The restaurant was not even busy, maybe 5 groups total.
