Tapsilog (marinated beef) and Longsilog (sweet sausage)
    Athrun Z.

My usual and highly recommended dish at this place is the Tapsilog (sweet-salty-peppery marinated beef, garlic rice, egg and side veggies) and their huge halo-halo (shaved ice dessert). I took off one star as it sometimes requires patience to get your food. It is a mom and pop place and sometimes just one person working, but for me, it is worth the wait for some delicious food.

    Avocado smoothie and Tofu Bibimbap
    Hannah W.

I am taking one star off because they only use disposable plastic bowls, cups and utensils with no recycling. When shopping at Palisades Mall, my daughter and I felt the need to have an afternoon snack, so we decided to try this new place. We shared an avocado smoothie and a Tofu Bibimbap - both were very nice, although the bibimbap was, naturally, an edited version of the authentic original. Still, it was tasty and filling (good value) - so filling that my daughter had very little dinner that night :-)

The Bibimbap, a bowl of rice topped with an array of individually prepared vegetables and ground turkey, served with a gochujang sauce and topped with a fried egg was so delicious. I loved the bite of hot sauce and the creaminess of the egg yolk mixed with the rice. This came at a bargain price and I very much recommend this small restaurant located within the Palisades Center Mall. As I was there on a Wednesday after the lunch rush the service and food prep was all done with a staff of one! Great Job!

    SPAMSILOG with chicken skewers adobo
    Darren G.

Came by here for lunch, to try something new at the mall. Ordered the SPAMSILOG, the piece of spam was cut perfectly and fried just right with charing it. Loved the egg, but could used a second one, since that runny yolk was great with the rice. Also never thought dried minced garlic would work on rice, but they made me a fan of it. Chicken adobo, was grilled well, charred bit, but not burnt, well seasoned and very tender. A great small meal, filling but not heavy

Closed before time states online ( me there at 9 pm when it says it closes at 930 )

Apparently, they close whenever and not what their hours say online. Flew here to get here before 9 ( says they close at 930p ) I show up at 9 on the dot and gates down... Don't put hours online if you aren't going to follow them!

    Halo Halo
    Nina L.

5 stars for the halo halo alone because I haven't tried anything else on the menu but I'll keep coming back even just for this. Best halo halo around.

    Store front

The food is a mix of Asian cuisine (Korean and Filipino). The quality of ingredients is fresh. I ordered the Silog ( Sausage, rice , egg, fresh cucumbers, and cherry tomatoes), left me full and very satisfied. I would definitely come and eat here again.

This Asian fusion spot in a nondescript plaza has a large menu with a lot of small plates/street food, baos (with varying fillings), tacos/quesadillas/tostadas, curry, traditional Asian dishes, poutine, burgers, noodles like pad thai and plenty of veg-friendly items. We most enjoyed the chicken empanadas (generous filling, good flavor), cod tacos, and vegetarian spring rolls. The tofu lettuce wrap didn't have a strong flavor even though it seemed to have a lot of sauce. The beef Jerky (a bit tough and chewy) and vegetarian dumplings were okay, but not favorite items. We didn't order any items that were larger portion and it's very easy to rack up the bill with $9-12 small bites. Inside, you could forget that you're in suburbia because this place is pretty trendy. There's artwork and words on the wall and the menu tries to be clever (succeeds in some ways but not necessarily to grammar snobs). There's a 3% surcharge for credit card purchases. There's a Chinese food restaurant and Taimoca coffee place in the plaza as well.

Staff is friendly and warm, seems like a reservation heavy establishment but we were able to snag a table for 4 upon opening. Shortly after arrival the rest of the tables of 4 and even 10 filled up quickly. The dishes are huge and we left with plenty of leftovers. Happy bellies with meals made from the heart. Spring rolls 5/5 what a huge plate! Crispy and delicious. Bulalo soup 5/5 really hit the spot. Piping hot and could feed all 4 of us as a side or 2 people as a dish. Beef noodle soup (5/5) (had a bit of sweetness in case folks aren't into that) it was incredible tasty, ample meat and veggies and packed with flavor. My girls shared this and still had leftovers. Kare kare oxtail (5/5) anther awesome dish, heavy peanut flavor, loads of veggies (love!) and definitely had leftovers Would absolutely come back and highly recommend. It was about 25 minutes away from where we were but the great experience here made our drive worth. The place is very homey with a wonderful staff. Service is impeccable. The owners are very friendly and has great customer relations skills. The foods are excellent. We had the pleasure of trying their bangus sisig, pork bbq and caldereta. The tastes exceeded our expectations. We learned that their chef hailed from Luzon so the degree of cooking style satisfied our taste buds. The calamansi drink I had was fabulous. Honestly, the best I had so far. Our halo/halo dessert was heavenly. Satisfied our sweet tooth. The serving size is in huge portion. Each order is shareable by around 2-3 people. Pricing is higher in comparison to other place but proportioned to the serving size. I have one star less for my review for two reasons- 1.The check includes a service charge that confused us if a gratuity should be given or not. We need to Google first for right information. We ended up adding gratuity for their hospitality . 2. Looking for parking spot is challenging. We ended up downloading the town's parking mobile app to get parked closer. We are willing to return if ever we are near the area.

It really feels like a home cooked meal made with care. While the prices aren't the cheapest, the quality and taste absolutely justify it. You can tell there's a lot of attention put into each dish. My personal favorite is the lechon kawali paired with their garlic rice. It is crispy, rich, and packed with flavor. The dining space itself is cute, cozy, and very clean, making it a perfect little date night spot. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, which adds to the overall experience. It isn't the fastest service, so I wouldn't recommend coming here if you're on a time crunch. It's a great place to sit down and relax, and really enjoy the food. One thing to keep in mind is that their hours can be a bit unusual, so it's definitely worth checking ahead before you go. Location-wise, it's also a great stop. It is just a short walk from the local brewery and the rail trail, making it an ideal place to grab a meal after a walk or before heading out for a couple of beers. Overall, a fantastic spot if you're looking for comforting, high quality Filipino food in a cozy setting.

But there are a few universal similarities with Latin food: rice, seafood (because I'm a pescatarian) and garlic- to name a few. Then there's their halo-halo dessert. So when Hapág Bistro popped up in my Yelp pages- in Highland, NY no less and conveniently close to work- I was in. Hapág is cozy the second you step in here. My eyes immediately went up to the ceiling where these folks have faux greenery+florals hanging across the space. It actually softens Hapág and adds a little "nature". I was here on a tight clock and didn't have time to sit down for a full meal. But while I looked at the menu at work, one thing immediately jumped at me: halo-halo. This thing is sweet. It's a sweet explosion of shaved ice, creamy ube goodness, jellies, fruit and leche flan tucked in like little treasures. Then comes the ice cream on top tying the whole shit together. Every spoonful is cold, creamy and sugary in the best way. Shoutout to my girl Danielle, who was super pleasant and had one of those smiles that totally makes the place feel even more welcoming. Next time I'll actually stay long enough to eat real food- but for a quick pop-in, Hapág came out on top with dessert alone.

A Filipino Gem in Yonkers - Comfort Food Done Right…read more If you're craving authentic Filipino comfort food with a modern twist, Hapag Filipino in Yonkers is absolutely worth the stop. We ordered the Lola Basket, and it truly lived up to its name--warm, nostalgic, and packed with all the little bites you remember from family gatherings. The basket itself was generous and beautifully arranged, like something your grandmother would prepare before insisting you eat more. Every item was spot-on: * Crispy lumpia with that perfect shatter when you bite in. * Tender pork skewers, smoky with just the right hint of sweetness. * Garlic rice that actually tastes like garlic rice, not bland filler. * And the pancit--light, savory, and layered with flavor the way it should be. What stood out most was how everything tasted fresh and intentionally prepared. The Lola Basket is the kind of sampler that gives you a little bit of everything without compromising quality. Service was friendly, warm, and genuinely welcoming--exactly the kind of hospitality that makes Filipino dining special. You can feel the pride in the food and the culture from the moment you walk in. If you're looking for a place to introduce someone to Filipino cuisine, want a comforting weekend meal, or just miss real home-cooked flavors, Hapag Filipino hits the mark. The Lola Basket alone is reason enough to come back. Highly recommend.

They do charge more if you use a credit card instead of paying cash. The ambiance is inviting and warm, they have tables and also a community table next to the cashier. I ordered the lumpia pork which were amazing but tiny. The sweet sauce was ok, tasted more like duck sauce than sweet chili. I may have been unlucky there with the pour. But the lumpia were very authentic and full of flavor. The pancit was a let down, the noodles were still a bit raw and not much in terms of seasoning or flavor. It was a huge let down as it's usually one of my favorite Filipino dishes to order. The place had a good crowd inside and lots of to go orders being picked up. Will definitely try again as the food was decent despite the let down with the pancit. I did cook the noodles a little longer at home and added more seasoning and it became amazing. So taking it as a tiny error on their part otherwise it would have been a 5 star review. Since some reviews mention they only cater to Filipinos that is not true at all from my experience. I'm not Filipino and they were warm and friendly. (Not even sure why I have to put this, but seems to be necessary as the 1-3 star reviews all claimed they got poor food and service cause they were not Filipino)

KAF is a small Filipino Market, that serves a number of prepared Filipino foods cafeteria style, and they also have a kitchen for preparing some additional menu items. I hadn't visited since before the Pandemic, but I felt KAF's lumpia calling me this week. I arrived around 5:30 and I was the only customer at that time. The cafe part of the business is in the back. There are a few tables for dining in. The atmosphere is decent, but not a selling point since the Market's merchandise is in view. Service is a hybrid model. I've always ordered at the cash register. For food that's ready, they just plate it and bring it to you. If you order from the menu, they prepare it and bring it to you. However, it's not the type of place where they bring you a glass of water and occasionally refill it. It's more like you're eating at Chipotle, except they bring your food to you. I ordered lumpia and Menudo. If you haven't had lumpia, they look similar to fried spring rolls. KAF's are filled with what seems like a cooked pork and veggie mixture that is mostly meat. It's crispy and tasty. KAF's Menudo is a stew of pork chunks, liver, potatoes, carrots, peas, etc. It tastes like a dish you might get at a Filipino friend's house. The meat and veggies were tender and the sauce was mild and savory. When I score a place like Kayumangi, I don't compare it to sit down restaurants. I compare it to other small food markets that happen to serve food. Another thing in Kayumangi's favor is that I'm not aware of other Filipino options in the nearby areas. With those caveats, I give Kayumangi 4 Stars and I will return when the mood strikes me.
