I LOVE THIS PLACE! The staff first off is priceless. They always remember their customers. Not just hi & bye conversation either! They remember everything,ask you about you family,ask about your health it's like talking to a friend. I love it. Then they always remember to bring me extra salsa because t h e know how much I love it! It's a personal experience.and very relaxing. Now to the food, huge portions. I would recommend grilled onions in the hashbrowns. The cowhand so good. The put bacon in the gravy, and the coffee never gets cold or empty. WHAT MORE CAN YOU ASK FOR??!! I was definitely a fan of this place first time coming in and I loved it !! I was having a big craving for waffles and it was definitely satisfied!! Not to mention big portions! My little sister loved the biscuits and gravy my mom had the French toast and she was a fan ! My other sister had a club sandwich the only thing wrong with her order was the bread was over toasted and it cut her lip because it was so hard but she was hungry so she ate it anyways I looked over at her plate and it was on the dark side but other then that she said it was very delicious. Had a day off so I got to go to Karen's Its 10:30 am , I was welcomed and was able to sit at my favorite spot, the counter. I tried something new usually I have eggs and oats .. but today I had hobo eggs 1/2 order oh my a lot of food.. the server Liz was very knowledgeable about the menu items . My order came to me hot and in a timely manner . It was so delicious too . They are all very friendly and willing to please ,, just wish they were open later so I could come after work read more

We were at a near by hospital to visit our friend. Since we are from the South Bay area, we did a Yelp search and found Karen's Kitchen. The place is a local neighborhood cafe and our waitress was very friendly. The food was outstanding and the portion was WOW! Don't let the location and appearance fool you. The food was alright at best... my veggies looked microwaved. Waitress was by herself but the place wasnt busy. She forgot my salad dressing, utensils, ketchup. I know they have a lot of karens kitchens here in the a.v ... but they should probably focus on just one and making that one more than just mediocre. I follow a ketogenic diet and they are more than accommodating for my food choices. I also love their coffee! I didn't want to have to give just 1 star because the food was actually really good. However, one of the waitresses engaged in a very loud conversation with a couple about how horrible Democrats were and how the immigrants are making them pay and blah blah blah. Now I know people are entitled to their own opinion but to have the waitress standing there talking about it with them loudly in a small area is not only rude but completely unprofessional. I was with my grandfather so I bit my tongue but was no longer enjoying my mean and wanted to get out of there before I couldn't hold my tongue any longer. I'll absolutely never go back. read more

Karen's kitchen, what can I say-" it is cozy". The food was good I had the special of 2 eggs 2 bacon and french toast topped with bananas strawberries and blueberries. The serving size was pretty big for the price. The spinach and cheese omelet was also good. Overall I did like the food however, the place definitely needs some upgrading. Getting to the bathroom was a little awkward, finding yourself going through the side of the kitchen " I was able to see everything ". First impression walking in was "it's a little run down the food is going to be fire!!" Not quite fire, I ordered the veggie omelette w/hash browns although it looked amazing the taste was bland, I will give it up to the biscuit and gravy! I enjoyed it very much. The service was trash though , the older lady with glasses had an attitude since she sat us down, walks by and lightly tosses the menus at the edge of the table. Takes my husband and my drink order, he was craving French toast so he begins to order while I'm still trying to figure out what I'm in the mood for, she says she will be back to take our order, brought our drinks but didn't take our order and immediately walked away. Eventually, she returned to take our order. The food took awhile for it to come out, naturally I'm drinking my coffee and running on empty, she walked by several times and asked the other tables if they were doing alright but for some reason we didn't seem to exist. Things started off pretty good, we walked in and were seated right away (which is awesome for a small breakfast place) and our beverage order was taken. Drinks came and we waited a few minutes for our server. She was nice enough but seemed like she was in such a big hurry...you're at our table, can you focus on us please?! My bf wanted to sub the (small cup of) grits for the toast/biscuit but you can't do that, grits are a sub for the hash browns. That's odd cuz the Karen's kitchen in Quartz Hill does that all the time for him. Ok fine, so we modified and moved on. Food came, my onions weren't anywhere near the "grilled well/burnt" that I asked for, gravy tasted very powdery & my bf's bacon was very sad looking. When when I asked for a refill, the younger girl with the glasses (she seemed like the "head server", maybe) said "there's no refills on Arnold palmers, but you can have iced tea or water". Really, no AP refills?!?! Probably should inform your customer of that when they order one, just sayin. They never checked back to see how things were and when I asked for extra napkins, I'm pretty sure the waitresses eyes almost rolled out of her head. The new busser gal was very sweet and worked hard though (even though she forgot a couple things and tried to start clearing our table when I was still standing right at it)! Overall, pricing was pretty common to breakfast joint places, food was ok, nothing spectacular, and service was mediocre, at best. First time here, it was GOOD home cooking food!!!! I had the best server, Shanna. She offered to get me new eggs because the syrup I put on my french toast had seeped over to my eggs. Set at the bar right where the waitresses receive the food from the kitchen. After they delivered my food I had asked for a fork, they never refilled or even asked to refill my coffee or water and they never delivered like toast. I asked if I was sitting in the wrong spot paid my bill and left they won't see me again. read more

Came in for a large breakfast on a weekday with 3 other adults in my family. Food was standard diner fare: large portions, hot, a little on the greasy side (like true diner food should be). The coffee was hot and strong. No fresh squeezed OJ, but I didn't expect that. It's not organic, fresh, California style food. So don't go there looking for that (we didn't). The reason I am giving Karen's only one star is because of how the guests at the table next to us were treated. There is a sign on the front door that says "No Outside food or drink allowed". Many restaurants observe this policy, but they took it to the extreme! The diner at the table next to us pulled out a bottle of what looked like an cold pressed fruit/veggie juice from her large purse. It was unopened, I could see the intact bottle seal. She ordered water and the waitress told her she would have to remove that bottle of unopened juice FROM the PREMISES! As in "it will have to be outside the restaurant, not in your purse" and proceeded to LIE about how the health department would fine the restaurant if she consumed it while on the premises and got sick!!!! Are you kidding me?! The poor woman and her elderly father ended up leaving without ordering anything. My appetite was ruined after witnessing that encounter. The waitress was even condescending to them as they left! It was absurb and felt very discriminatory! The kicker is that same waitress 5 mins later pulls out a Smart Water bottle from her purse behind the counter and starts consuming it..... Karen's Too will never see my face again. It's one thing to uphold policy but don't LIE to your customers to do it. (BTW, I work in the health field and am a consumer watchdog, no such precedence exists about fining restaurants for diners consuming outside products and getting sick!) read more

I heard great things about the food but sadly I will never eat here. I came in with a coffee I just bought at Starbucks (because I am picky about my coffee and the coffee you often get at diner joints is crap) and was rudely told we could not eat there with our coffees. I was there with two others and we were starving! It just blows my mind a business is going to turn away customers over a coffee that is only a dollar something on the menu. I would have paid the extra dollar just so I could bring my own coffee in. Its their loss...losing out on paying customers and a twenty percent tip. We had a lovely meal at the IHOP down the street with our Starbucks in hand. Also one of the people I was with that recommended we go there had been in several times before with her own coffee and no issues. read more

This little gem is worth finding when you come visit Palmdale. Very friendly place, great coffee and breakfast food. They do not take credit cards, and closing time is pretty early. It's small inside but has big booths and clean! Very small town warming people and environment. read more

. I arrived I was welcomed and said to sit wherever I wanted to which was good because I like the counter I am so happy that Karen's still has a counter. My server was Cassie She is new but she had a lot of knowledge of the items on the menu I asked her about different steaks and what was on different sandwiches and ordered a Texas beef melt it came out exactly how I wanted it and quickly and delicious. Cassie checked back in a timely manner to check if all was right and yes it was and I was able to add a second beverage to my order..menu has many choices, even bagels , and cinnamon rolls. prices are comparable to other coffee shops. It is nice to relax , enjoy good food , conversation, and smiling faces I stop in on my days off and weekends , hoping some day they may extend Their hours so I can dine after work (3:00) ! read more
