Use to come here for years. Went a little later than usual there was a brunette at the cash register rude rude rude. One person in there was over charged and the girl had a snooty attitude about it. So sad was once an awesome place to share a meal with family. Now you feel like you got robbed for a less than mediocre meal and have to deal with someone's bad attitude. My husband and I went there for the first time today. We didn't even get far to getting our food brought to our dirty table. 1.)We were told to just sit anywhere and we did as every booth needed to be cleaned. 2.) We waited awhile before the petite white bus girl came by to wipe down our table. She said that she would bring us silverware but she didn't. 3.) We were told by the black waitress she would bring us silverware and she never did. We placed our drink order. 4.) We have to flag down the waitress to bring us a menu. 5.) About 5 minutes later the waitress came back to take our order. We place our order. 6.) we got our drinks order coffee and tea. We couldn't even stir the sugar and milk in our drink because we still was not given silverware for over 10 minutes. My husband had enough he got up and went over to the bus girl and requested our silverware. She grabs one silverware set from under the counter and grabbed the other from a random table. We noticed and asked her why didn't she bring us fresh silverware instead of how she just did it. Her answer "I not a waitress and just a bus". Her answer ruined it for us and we asked for the bill and left. I wished I didn't waste my time there this morning. It's so sad after all the time I lived in the AV we finally went to Karen's and the service was so disappointing. I will never go to a Karen's again. But we stopped going because a horrible waitress by the name of Cathy was there. We stopped going because she was the most negative person I have EVER met! She would complain to us every time we asked for something!! Well we hadn't gone back in a very long time but one day was craving their wonderful soup and decided that we would go in asking to not be seated in her section... Ding dong the Witch is GONE!! I don't come very often but when I come to visit my family I have to make time to come and eat here! I've tried a few different things from here but my absolute favorite is the California Omelette. This is the first time here for my husband and I. The location was a bit hard to find, even being on a major street, as it sits back a bit. Parking is great. Once inside, seating is tight but very comfortable. There were 3 servers and all took turns making sure everyone at the tables were happy. The menu selection is perfect and the prices are fair. I got a standard egg breakfast while my husband tried their Chicken Fried Steak and eggs. We were both extremely happy and will be returning. read more

This is still the best place for Breakfast in Palmdale! Great homestyle cooking and friendly service. All of their Breakfast entrees are great. I love their omelets, bacon, biscuits and gravy.... The food reminds me of my southern grandmother. She was an amazing cook. Rebecca and Shanna are fantastic waitresses. The whole staff, from the cooks to the owner, are friendly. But unfortunately we just bought coffee from Starbucks and headed straight over and A mexican lady stopped us at the door and told us we can't take our fresh coffees in and was being rude about it right off the bat, If she was nice about it in the beginning about it we probably would have chugged our coffee or left it in the car, but she was rude. People like their coffee a certain way, if a baby came in with someone and they had formula or fruit for their baby, would they turn down food or their beverages,? I was staying in Palmdale for an event at WSIR over the Memorial Day weekend when I discovered this place by accident as I drove out West Palmdale Ave. I entered Karen's and was pleased to find that it was full at the breakfast hour with what appeared to be locals only. I sat at the bar and was promptly attended to by the staff. I chose the 1/2 hobo express with toast, which was the perfect amount of food. It was a great meal at a great price and the staff were super friendly. I went back in Monday morning and ordered the same thing, but added ham this time, which was a nice choice as their ham is pretty darn good. The place was not nearly as busy as on Saturday morning, and I sat in a booth this time. What I noticed, being able to see most of the room easily this time is how the staff worked seamlessly to serve their customers. They were in constant motion, completely vigilant over their customers' satisfaction, and communicated very well with each other. When a staff works that well together you can feel it as a customer and it makes your meal a more elevated experience rather than just feeding yourself. I'm recommending this cafe to anyone who is staying in or passing through Palmdale. See you again next year! read more

The servers were very nice. Cash only, or local checks. The food was edible, but not amazing. I ordered the Spanish omelet which had a "tangy, special sauce made in their kitchen" that was none other than....PACE! No thanks. I can make a better "spanish" omelet at home. There were stewed tomatoes on top, as well. The biscuit and gravy came with gravy on the side automatically. Personal preference is on top of the biscuit, but theirs was fine. The biscuit wasn't salty enough, but it was good. The gravy had chunks of meat (corned beef?) in it, and by chunks, I mean, use a fork or knife to cut. My friend thought the gravy was gelatinous. The ham in the ham and cheese omelet tasted like cubed, canned ham and not fresh ham. Service was quick and friendly. I'd rather go somewhere else for breakfast. I won't be back. read more

First off, remember to bring cash - they don't take any other type of payment, and you'll be left hunting down an ATM if you don't have any money on you. A lot of people sour on this place for that very reason, which I think is a bit silly. The food is absolutely phenomenal. Karen's has been around for a long time, so they know what they are doing. Be prepared to be ripped off!!!! Corned beef hash special.... Literally about two tablespoons of corned beef chopped up into potatoes! Then they add potatoes, but charge for bell peppers and onions ( 99 cents for each item) and 49 cents for a tablespoon of salsa! Every single time we go there are secret up charges... Next it might be to use a fork or sugar for coffee! They have a special... Coffee and pie 3.99... So my grandson wanted pie, I bought him milk and drank the coffee... Over $10 because the pie and coffee weren't eaten by the same person!!!!! Three charges!!!! read more

Now that I have tried this place out a few times. I feel a 3 1/2 star rating is appropriate for their breakfast menu. I have yet tried them out for lunch. The staff was really nice & welcoming. My only complaint with the staff is that every time I would eat here they would forget something that I had ordered. They only accept cash and local checks. No credit cards. This last visit I had the hotcakes, hash browns, & eggs. The pancakes were light and fluffy, the hash browns were cooked all the way through and crispy, the eggs were scrambled to my liking. I was definitely a fan of this place first time coming in and I loved it !! I was having a big craving for waffles and it was definitely satisfied!! Not to mention big portions! My little sister loved the biscuits and gravy my mom had the French toast and she was a fan ! My other sister had a club sandwich the only thing wrong with her order was the bread was over toasted and it cut her lip because it was so hard but she was hungry so she ate it anyways I looked over at her plate and it was on the dark side but other then that she said it was very delicious.
