Atmosphere was homey, service was pretty good, a lot of breakfast options but food was a little bland.

My husband and I stopped by for breakfast. It was a very sweet little dig with lots of knicks-knacks decorating the place. The vibe was very welcoming. I ordered a half size French Toast with a side of hash browns. I forgot the title of my husband's dish but it was a type of "hobo-hash"- hash browns mixed with eggs, sausage, bacons, veggies, etc. My french toast was very good. Prefect cinnamon/sugar/vanilla flavor with, crispy fried, soft center bread I expect. The hash browns were great. I've found large chain breakfast joints leave them to be hard and dry or too soft and wet. These hash browns were perfectly pan-fried. The staff was very nice and all the customers we saw walked in appeared to be regulars because they all know the staff members names. I can see us returning again. - Oh but remember to bring cash! We were saved by the liquor store located 2 suites down that had an ATM. read more

I love eating here for breakfast, the food is great and the service is always on point. The wait is never too long and I'm always greeted by the staff as soon as I walk in. They truly care about the customers, ensuring our experience is welcoming. My all-time favorite staff member is Rebbeckha because she's very positive and continuously going above and beyond to satisfy her customers. Before I start I want to say I have been eating at Karens kitchen for over 30 years . The first one we used to eat at was on Palmdale blvd and had some pretty nice bass mounts on the wall . To eat at a Karens kitchen is like eating at your moms house . You walk in and if you eaten there more them once are greeted by name , sat down and what ever you normally drink is asked if you want it . You see many of the same people who eat there everyday , and there girls there are top in their fields . They never quit moving , cleaning , checking on you ever . There are daily specials that can't be beat in both quality of food and price . The pub steak breakfast and the pork chop breakfast are fantastic specials at under 7 bucks !!! I've been coming here since I was little. Very good service, server are on top of it. Great food, love the chicken club and the Denver omelette. It is large portion though so my mom and I will sometimes share a plate. The wait is never too long even when it's a busy Sunday. These people move fast but great food, great service. read more

We have eaten breakfast here several times over the past few years. The place is small and service has always been quick and friendly. Personally, I don't care for the coffee but I'm also one to drink Starbucks or Coffee Bean so I may not be a good judge of that. Servers have always been accommodating and make our food the way we ask for it. Food is good. I like the home fry potatoes a lot and their fresh salsa (available on request) is always good. My son orders French toast from the kids menu and loves it. I know the biscuits and gravy are delicious but I tend to get toast because there is soooo much food! But you can always take your leftovers home. :) It's "cash only" so be sure you bring enough. read more

My wife tried this place out a couple of days ago as we were looking for something other than a major chain (IHOP/Denny's). Biscuits and gravy were on point, which my wife had been craving for months. Portion sizes were legit, eggs, sausage, and home fries was cooked well. I had a biscuit with gravy too and really enjoyed it. The manager took good care of us. Look forward to going back soon. I think I will try the French toast on my next visit. UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP We stopped going to Karen's Kitchen because we could not substitute and the staff was pretty surly. The new owner is a chef and the food is excellent, he also allows substitutions and changes. Service depends on which waitress you get but it is still better than before. The previous owner had gone sour. Try Karen's Kitchen again if you have not been in a few months, think you will like the changes. read more

Came here for breakfast last week. Nice helpful staff and very generous helpings. Got a country omelet and biscuit w gravy.

We are from out of town and saw the ratings online. We decided to try it and were very pleased. It is a small ma and pa place. The place was clean, food was awesome, and the service was exceptional. Everyone was extremely friendly and personable. Definately a highly recommended stop for breakfast and lunch and will be kept in mind for the future. read more

I will never ever eat at this restaurant again. My daughter who is 9 months pregnant and her 4 year old child ate breakfast at this restaurant. When she handed her credit card to the waitress the waitress mentioned the credit card machine machine wasn't working. My daughter was told to go to the liquor store next door and use the ATM to withdraw cash. The ATM charges $2.50 to withdraw money. My daughter asked the manager after paying for her meal along with a tip if she could be compensated for the $2.50 charge. The manager made an awful commotion and gave my daughter back her money and told her never to come back. My daughter was in tears and is due to have her baby the next day. I am appalled at the mistreatment of my daughter by this woman manager. My daughter asked to speak to the owner and this woman told her he was to busy and you'll have to wait an hour in a half to see him. This treatment of a pregnant customer is terrible. Our family have patronized your restaurant but no longer. read more

If I could give negative stars I most certainly would. Waitresses seemed rude minus the waitress who assisted us. I didn't catch her name but she was very attentive and had a good attitude. The food is definetly not worth the price, sure they have huge portions but everything was bland. When we were finishing up, a waitress from another section offered to take our bill which I nodded to and said "Sure". I wasn't asked if I needed change but instead she took the change and gave it to another waitress who didn't help us at all and was from another section. When I brought this to my fianceé attention he politely asked where our change was. She at first denied taking our bill and money. We showed her who was helping us and where we were sitting and that seemed to remind her, she chuckled and said "Sorry I already gave it to that waittess". When my fianceé said "Why would you take our change and give it to her, if she didn't even help us"? She replied "Oh... sorry, well I already gave it to her so I don't know". My fianceé told her who it should've gone to and instead pulled out more money to give it to the correct waitress. Will never return under any circumstance and would definetly not recommend this place to anyone. read more

A Co Worker took me here this morning for breakfast, and I will never return here again Service was horrible, coffee cold, food cold, and my co worker plug her phone charger into the wall outlet and the cashier/waitress came over to tell her that she is not responsible for anything that happen to her phone, and my co worker ask why are you saying that and the cashier/waitress inform my co worker that because the building is so old that if something do happen Karen Kitchen is not responsible for it. Then my co worker look at me and stated to me what about all of the other things that they have plug into the outlets? This was not a great place for me to recommend to no one or go back every again. This little restaurant in west Palmdale is a gem. My husband and I enjoy the food, the service and the atmosphere. We are always greeted with a smile and treated like family. Kathy, Shannon and Rebecca are the most wonderful servers - so kind and friendly. You just can't find these sweet hometown restaurants like Karen's Kitchen just anywhere! read more

I've also been going for years and have always had exceptional service from all the servers . I know through my own experience that special request such as a burrito (not on the menu and only offered as a weekday special ) which I've had many times are usually not made on weekends if the kitchen is busy. I love this place. Clean, friendly and reasonably priced. CASH only. Parking is never an issue. Its diner food, no surprises.

This is just great family food, nothing fancy about the business. It is worth the search.

Customer service is NOT important at this establishment. The food is good, but the management and personnel are rude and unfriendly. Because I had no cash -- and I admit, it's my fault that I didn't see the "no credit cards/debit" sign -- but they would not work with me at all. They would not take an "out-of-town" check... Rosamond? Really? Out-of-town?... and the manager would not budge on this, even though I showed her several pieces of I.D. and obviously was not going to bounce a $14 check. And the explanation provided was BS: "well, if we do it for you, we have to do it for everybody." There was no one else there! Who was going to know? Seriously? It used to be the Antelope Valley incorporated all communities, not just Palmdale/Lancaster. Might as well eat at IHOP. At least they take plastic. The experience ruined my day, and I hope this review saves some other customer the same grief. read more
