We saw Karen's Place recommended on a few FB posts. Decided to check it out last night and glad we did! The location was terrific, there's an option to sit at the tables inside with spectacular views overlooking the bay or at the tables on the sand. The staff was extremely friendly and the food was delicious! We were even offered bug spray as the sun was starting to set, which I absolutely needed (told my husband earlier that I was sad that I forgot mine at the resort). My husband ordered the parmesan crusted catch of the day, which was mahi-mahi. This could have been a meal we shared since the portion was so generous. I had the Scampi Al Vino Blanco and loved it! We will definitely be back to try other menu items next time we are in town. read more

We picked the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary ! Last night It was our 32nd anniversary and my husband and I were visiting Bucerias, Nayarit Mexico. We were out on a morning walk on the beach and saw Karen's Beach Restaurant and made a reservation for that evening. We ordered the Trio with filet mignon, fish filet and coconut shrimp. Everything was perfect, the service, the food and the atmosphere on the beach was amazing! They were so awesome gave us free glasses of champagne and flan, which was delicious! read more

This is an amazing restaurant, great location in the beach and the right relaxing ambiance. We all tried the fish sandwich with French fries and some margaritas. The fish was delicious along with the lettuce and dressing. Couple that with great service and wonderful ocean view made for a perfect afternoon. read more

This place is AWESOME! It's not big, but not small, and it's right on the beach! The food we had was absolutely amazing. The wait staff was very friendly, and the service was great. I'm pretty sure the owner (I assume her name is Karen-lol) made it a point to stop by our table and ask if everything was ok. It's hard to describe the beauty of the Parmesan Encrusted catch of the day...but WOWSA! My kid had the shrimp in a white wine sauce (yummy!), and is bud had the ribs (I'm pretty sure the sauce had something magical in it...so good! Will come back again anytime! read more

Update: Service has improved since my last review. However the ceviche was flavorless and very disappointing. The aguachile shrimp was much better. Maybe stick to breakfast here. Also the upper patio is very loud due to the constant noise of blenders at the bar. read more

We love going to Karen's when we are on vacation. We have been eating here for about 20 years. It's always a favorite! Great service, and great food. We tried the stuffed mushrooms and they were yummy! I would for sure recommend it to everyone. Love sitting on the beach to catch the sunset at dinner. Lovely spot right on the beach. We had set-menu Thansgiving dinner here so I can't speak to the regular menu but everything we had was delicious so I assume the regular menu is just as good, if not better. We sat on the sand so our 4-year-old could play by the table and it was perfect for watching the sunset. Extra special shout-out to whomever though to serve our daughter a virgin cocktail so she didn't feel left out while we enjoyed our welcome-drink. Would love to return to try out the regular menu sometime but until then I highly recommend this spot. read more

I was really excited to eat here because we had heard great things. We were extremely disappointed when we arrived and the only option was a thanksgiving dinner. This was not disclosed to us when we made the reservation, it's not on any social media page, or their website. There was no option to order anything else and despite having only one item it still was very slow service. The turkey was also very dry and nothing else really stood out. I highly recommend a visit to Karen's place. The cucumber margaritas are a must. We also got the trio...the fish was delicious, steak was melt in your mouth tender, and the coconut shrimp came with a really yummy sauce. I was staying very close to Karen's just recently. The area at the bar was very nice, tiki barish! They have a great happy hour with great prices!! 1 day we ate lunch at the bar and it was great. I had a taco salad in a bowl and my girl had the chicken wrap. The food was fantastic and service was great. A beach side getaway perfect for enjoying the ocean and the sounds of the crashing waves while having dinner. Menu items are varied and interesting offering fresh seafood and "Mexican take" on some Italian cuisine. Portions are large and the taste is good. The service is prompt, courteous and friendly. Outside seating is great allowing great view of the ocean and the sunset. Prices are average-high but the food quality and portion sizes justifies that. read more

Beautiful ocean views and killer sunsets! The Trio entree has a petite filet, fresh fish filet of the day, and a large coconut prawn with mashed Potato and fresh veggie. It was delicious!! Fish and steak cooked perfectly. The owner was highly hands on, working hard all around us and checking to be sure we were happy. I've heard of this restaurant so much over the years, but hadn't made it out until recently. It's beautiful, right on the beach, and has different levels of seating so you don't have to be in the sand while dining. I do think the entry through a condo building is a bit strange, but there is also a sort of hidden entrance on the street side as well. The service was amazing, and the food was delicious. We were entertained by a handful of kiteboarders, very few vendors vying for our attention, and a gorgeous breeze. Whenever I find myself in Bucerias again, I will very much choose to return to Karen's Place! read more

We went here per reviews, and what seems to be its popularity. We were a little hesitant seeing how going to an American restaurant in another country could make for below average American food. But we were very surprised with the quality, taste, flavor and presentation of the meals we ordered! We ordered a range of food, from their infamous fish tacos (regular & gluten free) and burrito, to the vegan bowl, and chicken sandwich or chicken quesadillas, It was all delicious!! The only reason I gave it a 4 star is because we waited more than 30 minutes for our food to come out. We were a party of 7, so not too large. A little too long for us. But thankfully they refilled our water glasses a lot since we had walked to the restaurant from la Cruz de Huanacaxtle (took us 2hrs!) We did go during lunch time where the prices aren't bad, but the dinner menu is a lot pricier. Would definitely recommend! One side note is if you don't want to be bothered by people selling you things, then sit at the higher part of the restaurant. If you don't mind locals coming by and selling you their goods then you can sit on the beach area. It's a great view all around! read more

This place never disappoints. My wife loved the crispness of her coconut shrimp with just the right amount of tamarind acidic flavor. My daughter enjoyed the freshness and flavor of the pasta pesto negro with chocolate adobo sauce. I especially liked my order of El trio which is a combo of filet mignon, grilled fish and coconut shrimp. We also got to taste and enjoyed each other's orders.
