Karina's Tacos was always a place where people would recommend me to go for some gooooooood tacos. I have been to the one at Durfee Ave, El Monte but I wanted to know if all Karina's Tacos are bomb. This place was pretty filled when I arrived, so that is a sign that stuff is good (I guessed). The insides look like the place has been there but not renovated, prices had papers over them to indicate they have raised them. I ordered 4 tacos de tripa (because the ones that I tried at El Monte were very crunchy and delicious, so I wanted to check them). I am not sure if it is because I ordered to go and had them 10 minutes later, and that caused the tripitas to become a little bit soggy. Overall the taste was good. I got a little bit turned down when I read a sign that said that they don't take credit cards (usually I don't carry cash and that's a problem for me). Each taco were $1.50, which is ok...I wish that they'll have a day with special prices because their tacos are good and if their are more affordable I could buy a lot. Yay! read more

I moved into areas some time ago. I know and love Mexican food. So I know quite a few that are amazing I'm so many ways, price and quality. But I wanted to find a good place near me. I went here yesterday. They were quite at 2pm. Three people were talking in the kitchen. So it took a while for the lady to get to me even though she saw me walk up. I ordered the Birria. It came! At first glance it looked like shot. A wet slop in an uptight Tortilla. Just spilling out onto the paper plate that had day old dry radishes. So sad. But I bit into it hoping it would just taste amazing. Bitting into a chunk of bone. So I opened it up. No meat, it was what was left of the pot. So, I'll not be going back. I have been coming to Karinas tacos for years and the food is amazing. But the service of the front desk lady is horrible!!! She cuts you off and says "Que más". Then when I asked for the key to the restroom, which I have gotten in the past, she says No!" I later then ask if they don't give out the key to customers that are eating inside and she rudely points to the window that's states "no public restrooms" hello we are paying customers. I ordered some Asada Fries on 7/07/2021. They were really good but I couldn't stop to think if the fries were fresh or not.. I feel like they could do a little better on the presentation but over all they surprised me with the taste. The boyfriend loves this place. I tried it for the first time today. The red salsa is not that spicy! The boyfriend always comes here for the tacos and sopes combo [which comes with rice and beans] therefore that would be my recommendation. They also do take out orders on the phone. Which definitely helps when you're trying to be time efficient and don't wanna eat there. Another great TAQUERIA location. My party ended up here because the restaurant (LU GI RESTAURANT) that we were originally going to dine at was not open for dinner service yet. The reason that I chose this TAQUERIA establishment over the others were because of proximity of location and because they had CHICHARRON tacos! Everything was decently cheap and everything was amazingly delicious. I ended up ordering about 4 tacos (CHICHARRON, CHORIZO, CHILI VERDE, and ASADA). This was a big mistake because the delicious mass of the tacos prevented me from KOBAYASHing my all time favorite AYCE HOT POT RESTAURANT...LU GI Anywho...well recommended, if you live around the area, but I definitely wont be driving an hour out just to eat tacos. Oh Karina's...why are you so close to me?! (This is a good thing!) Came back here again to grab dinner for me and my brother. We decided to call ahead of time so we can just pick it up. They told us that it would take just 8-10 mins and they were right! When we got our order of the wet carne asada burrito, avocado burger and asada taco, everything was super delicious. Wet Carne Asada Burrito- SUPER DANK GOODNESS! Love that they drench the burrito with Salsa Verde sauce...gives it that extra moistness and sharp tangy contrast. The carne asada was done just right... super tender and flavorful! The avocado slices that they put on top is like the cherry on top! Soft Tacos- You can never go wrong with these! At about $1 a pop, these are melt in your mouth tasty... the carne asada ones are my preferred choice because it's so savory and it pairs well with the onions and cilantro. Another plus is their service! Been coming here since they've opened (and were loyal customers to the R.I.P. Bun Boy) and they've never disappointed since! It was a nice foggy and chilly night, I was driving around for a Hot Pot place in the likes of Monterey Park, Alhambra and San Gabriel.. I came upon this brightly lit establishment, complete with parking lot; brightly lit and spacious as well.. I stopped, parked.. since it is now an offense to text or talk or otherwise use your phone while driving. Read, a moving violation and a "point" on your California Driver's License. Most violations are usually one point, but some more flagrant are worth 2 points, like exhibition of speed and racing to beat a gate at train crossings... But, I digress... yes, I used to teach Traffic Violator school and taught Driver's Ed and Driver's Training... :) Also, Jaywalking is also considered one point, as a moving violation, read this, if you don't even have a CA DL and you can still get a "moving violation!" Well, I couldn't pull up any records of this place, so I decided to "TOFTT" (Take One For The Team" I picked mostly "Xeroxed" specials, not on the main menu. I feel that this is more true of what is being served, since it reflects some sort of seasonality or "local color" of tastes in this neighborhood that the restaurant has had to adapt to. It looked like I cam around closing time and was one of the last 2 customers to order. Upon getting our orders, they proceeded to "chain up" the front doors. My order consisted of the Taco de Papa (Potato taco), Roast Park Tortas, Tostada de Cerviche (Fish cerviche, I asked), and French Fries. The Taco de Paps was excellent, I have only had it at one other place, renowned for there Seafood Tacos on Garvey.. There were 3 deep fried taco shells with the potatos inside, covered by a generous spattering of lettuce and cheese, the taste was exceptional. Not overpowering and the shells had a strong snap, it may take some practice for you to balance the cheese and lettuce while you are lifting the shells to your mouth! The Roast Pork Tortas was good. A solid winner, the bread was a bit moist, but not waterlogged, probably from the meat. The meat was moist with some dry spots, but more succulent that "some Tortas place" in the 91754 that is WAY over-hyped and overpriced. Overall, this Tortas rivals the King Tortas over on Valley Bl in LA, abut still a second to them. The tostada de cerviche is also an excellent choice, being fresh fish, it is minced with the other ingredients onto 2 hard tostada shells so doesn't "soggy-up" fast! It doesn't have any harsh fishy taste.. so you know it must be some fresh fish! ^_^ All dishes come compete with the necessary Mexican condiments; chiles, limes and turnips. There is no scrimping here, and I didn't even ask for them! :P Sorry, French fries were the low point of the meal. They were pretty greasy and shoe-string potato type, not my favorite ones. This is a definite "Must-try" This was my first time, and I will be back to try other items! Keep Points: Freeway close, just south of the 10 Fwy, San Gabriel Exit, South! It's the next block so go slow immediately and SIGNAL, so the guy behind you getting off the freeway, doesn't "fender bender" you! It's on the West side of the street, immediately after the Signal light SOUTH of the 10 FWY. BIG Parking lot and well-lit at night. It was Thursday night and they closed at about 9:15PMish Food is Fresh! Well, at least the fish from my cerviche! NO fishy taste, and that's hard to do! I've gone to the auto shop right next to karinas several times and was always curious about this little hole in the wall Mexican food joint. Also it's called karinas #4, where is #3 and the other ones. So on a day i didn't have to go home for lunch I decided to give it a try. Some reviews were mixed as I pondered my order and the outside and the interior doesn't look very nice. But food will always win me over as well as horchata. I was really impressed by their selection of meats. It is normal to find al pastor, lengua, pollo and even birria in taquerias, but to find chorizo, chili verde and chili rojo and put it on a taco is rare. So like a good Mexican boy, I ordered my food in my gringo espanol. *note Sometimes if you order in Spanish they will hook you up. So I ordered 1 al pastor, 1 chili verde and 1 chili rojo. To wash down these bad boys I ordered a small horchata (small because I have to watch my girlish figure). I was very worried that 3 would not be enough. As I have ordered 4 tacos at other places like king taco, La Estrella and such. Even the lady said they were not that big. She lied to me, 3 was plenty! Those tacos were quite tasty overall! I really enjoyed the Al Pastor, I could really taste the grilled pork. Also loved the Chili verde, love that green sauce. The Chili Rojo was ok, will stick to the other Chili. Another plus is like a real authentic Mexican joint they give you a side of carrots, radishes and pepper, which I love to dip in the salsa. But whatever you do dont eat the jalapeno they give you, I dont why I took a bite out of it, but damn it was just too hot and I ran out of horchata and you have to pay for refills of horchata. Was craving some tacos and nachos so we just stopped by here out of the blue. It was my first time and I was kinda skeptical at first... We ordered some tacos de asada and some tacos al pastor. Both we delicious! We got them with everything on them, and to our surprise it came with red sauce already on them. My girlfriend cant eat very spicy foods(she usually uses salsa verde, green sauce), but she ate them anyway and the red sauce was actually not spicy at all. Good for her, but I prefer a little more heat with mine... We also had some asada super nachos which were the bomb! Overall everything we had here was very good, not the best, but definitely no complaints. The food was prepared quickly and the meats were all juicy. I was afraid of trying new places cuz often times the meat is so dry it ruins it, not the case here. Worth the try and I will be back! read more

Came here for lunch today. They have an outdoor patio area and tables inside. We came here because it's close to work and we were craving Mexican so decided to try it out. We ordered a wet burrito ($6), tacos ($1.25 ea) and carne asada nachos ($6). The portions aren't too crazy big and the prices aren't too bad. Everything looked under $6 which is nice. Definitely would recommend the nachos, I liked that the chips were still crunchy and not soggy like other places. Not too crowded but we had to wait a while because the lady was taking a very long phone order. But she apologized for the wait and the food came out pretty quick so that was nice. Our lunch was quick, under an hour long. So definitely recommend if you're looking for a quick bite that's cheap. Not sure how the place is at night. Definitely want to come back to try the flautasand quesadillas. read more

They give you very I mean very little sides with your plate the beans it was a table spoon same with the rice l had the eggs rancheros and it needed more sauce on them . There prices are responsible. I used to come to this location a lot because it's close by my house but lately, I've been really disappointed whenever I come here. Also, just a note, they don't pick up their phone all the time so if you're calling ahead to place an order, they might not pick up. I've also never really felt that welcomed here.. The tacos are pretty small here compared to other places and it costs the same, if not more. I used to think the carne asada meat here was pretty good but now the quality has gone downhill. The last thing I ordered from them was the carne asada nachos, and I think regular nachos from Taco Bell taste better. Meat was not flavorful and nothing about it tasted really good. I asked for an extra fork and they were charging 50 cents for it even though I bought nachos to share with my partner. I don't mind paying but I still find it pointless. I have been wanting to call the manager for quite some time, if anyone has his number, please send it my way. This place has the most rude and disrespectful staff in a hundred mile radius. Their food may be good, but the treatment is dismal. There has been two occasions in which two different women at the register have been blatantly rude over the smallest things such as me asking for a cup of ice, or extra salsa. I make sure to be friendly as to not get my food spit in, but these women are downright angry and bitter and scowled at me and gave me things in a huff of annoyance. One of them spitefully gave me two squares of ice in the ice cup I asked for. If they don't like their jobs, they should work elsewhere, they work with such a scowl and it's incredibly alarming. I didn't understand why these women were so rude to me and my sister, as we are normal people...I might as well have been a member of a rival gang or something, because they were just rude. I tried to call in to complain because no one should ever experience customer service in a fashion that makes them feel like an intruder, but the staff purposefully kept redirecting me to other restaurants. The food is ok for the Valley. The most frustrating issue I have with this place is that it's cash only. The cashier keeps eluding to the owner being a cheapskate. The card transactions are too high. Another example occured this morning. I wanted eggs for breakfast. They didn't have any. Who does not have eggs for breakfast? The cashier told me that they haven't had them for five days due to their high cost. SMH. Do what's best for your customers, not what's best for your pocket. In the end you'll end up losing clients and that will hurt your bottom line more than credit card transaction service charges. read more

Staff so cold, it's almost criminal. I have been here 3 times, and each time I am super nice so I don't get my food spit in since it's so good. However the staff is so unexplainably harsh, that I can't help but cringe. Primarily it's the cashier. As we speak I'm about to call the manager because the issue needs to be addressed. I did nothing but ask for a cup of ice on the side and the woman stared me down so badly and only gave me less than 5 ice cubes. It's downright pathetic. My husband and I come here often and I just order certain foods and ignore unpleasant employees. Pros: 1. Reasonable prices; they used to be even lower, but it's a sign of the times. 2. Flautas are excellent. 3. My husband loves the birria burrito (today they ran out :-( ). We normally go for lunch on the weekend and they've never run out before. 4. Carne Asada burrito and tacos are good. 5. Their salsa is pretty good. Cons 1. Many times the meat is very charred, which is gross. Even the chicharron on my taco was charred; that's totally crazy, who chars their chicharron?! 2. Al pastor is good sometines and taste strange other times, there's no consistency with it. Plus there's alot of fat at times. 3. I ordered the carnitas and was surprised it wasn't the shredded pork that I'm used to. It was may a big piece of meat. It made me sad so I never ordered it again. 4. Rice and beans for their plates are mediocre. At times they're excellent, but I just don't get them bc of the inconsistentancy. 5.There's this one employee that everyone says is super unfriendly... On the weekends I normally get super nice and pleasant cashiers, but today(Monday), I met Mrs. Bad attitude yet again. It's been so long that I haven't seen her, I forgot what an unpleasant person she is... Karina's Taqueria is right across the street from 7-eleven. My husband and I go there because it's the closest taco place. It's only a few blocks away from our apartment than having to drive down to El Monte for King Taco. We usually ordered carne asada tacos, carne asada quesadilla and chicken quesadilla with horchata. The carne asada tacos are good, but aren't the best like King Taco's. Although, they do have the best quesadilla. It's our favorite. Carne asada quesadilla. Yum! Still looking to satisfy our fix for Mexican food, my girlfriend and I came here after a terrible experience at Armando's on Valley (not to be confused with the one on Garvey). Upon first impressions the place looked a little grimy but from experience often times the grimy ones are the best ones. Right away we noticed the prices are incredibly affordable. Pretty much everything on the menu is less than 4 bucks. We ordered 2 carne asade burritos and a carnitas quesadilla for around 10 bucks. It's so cheap they're practically giving the stuff away! When we got the food the portions are extremely generous. The burritos were the same size as the paper bag they came in. Because I'm a gargantuan eater I was delighted! The carne asade is perfectly seasoned and they gave quite a bit of it. It's not like one of those burritos that teases you with a bit at the beginning but is mostly beans and rice. Nope, this guy was almost all carne asada and probably some of the best I've ever had. The carnitas quesadillas were equally as fantastic. Again the portion sizes were pretty big and they were beautifully arranged (I feel strange even saying that about food from a Mexican joint). They were topped with lettuce, slices of avocado and zigzags of sour cream. The carnitas were crispy on the outside but juicy and bursting with flavor on this inside. I've never been much a spicy food lover so I was a little reluctant to try some of the salsa they gave (it looked intimidating with visible chili seeds in it). But when I tried it, it was so flavorful and had more of a kick as opposed to a painful burn. It was amazing and much like that old lady in the Frank's Red Hot commercials, I put that sh!t on everything! I heard quite a few people ordering the super nachos so maybe I'll grab some next time. No longer do I ever have to leave my own city to grab some good Mexican food. It's probably the best Mexican food I've ever had, hands down. Large portions, dirt cheap prices, amazing food, the convenience of being practically next door. What more could you ask for? There's absolutely no excuse for going anywhere else. read more
