I went simple with the taco bowl bc i wasn't sure what I wanted and wasn't really "hungy" but the taco bowl was soo good I think I devoured it in under 5 minutes lol. They really hook you up too. I was struggling to finish the last bite. Atmosphere was very cozy and the owner is super friendly. Stopped by and ordered the Chicken & Beef Fajitas. It came out on a sizzling hot plate with rice, beans, guacamole, and tortillas. The portion was pretty decent. There was definitely more chicken than beef, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing. The meat was cooked okay a bit dry and it came with everything you'd expect from a standard fajita plate. Overall, it was good, but nothing really stood out. It satisfied the craving, but there wasn't anything memorable enough that would have me rushing back anytime soon. read more

Horrible experience and rudeness from the server !! Bald Hispanic man in his 50's. Went to try it for the first time on Monday during lunch time. My mom ordered the pozole verde and rajas con crema. Everything was going good until the server very rudely came and asked my mom to stop feeding my 9 month old baby because he was making noise and that "he had other guests and it was a bother" . We were both left in shock and it took us a second to process what he had just said. We had only taken a few bites of our food and we were commenting that it was good but this man's rudeness left us speechless. There was only 2 tables seated aside from us one gentleman and a group of 3 gentlemen on the other other table. I walked up to them and apologized if my baby was disturbing them and they all said no that he was not at all and they had kids and knew that the baby's were baby's. We felt extremely uncomfortable and discriminated by this man that I just asked for the check and left without even getting thru half of our food. This is such a Disappointment because they are suppose to be a family restaurant which I would assume is okay with children at their establishment but I guess not. Grew up in the area. This place always had a wait but not long & was worth it. Its been under new management and I want so bad to love it, but I dont. Ive gone back to give it a chance and have taken other people but its the same. The latest owner is a nice guy & I think thats why I keep hoping for something better. The place is clean and has a cool look but the service is really slow. I had to ask for everything. Water, refill, things that I ordered extra, to go boxes, reminder for to go boxes and it was not busy at all. The food is ok. Serving size is the same anywhere else but if you order to go its almost 1/2 the amount. Guacamole is $15. Everything is kind of bland. It's been a while since I've been to Luna's and this was the first time trying it under the new ownership. My hubby and I used to always order the pork chili verde burrito, but during our recent visit, it wasn't great. It lacked flavor and just overall underwhelming. The combination plate we ordered had a beef taco and chicken taquitos. The taquitos were over fried and the chicken was like hard jerky. We couldn't even finish it. Unfortunately, I was told that lunch specials weren't available at that time because the restaurant was in the process of creating a new lunch special menu? This was my first time ever experiencing a situation like this here. Also, I don't recommend stopping by if you're taking a quick lunch break. There is only one cook and one server taking care of lunch rush hour. Would recommend their sopes and recommend that you give their Birria meat a hard pass. The place is a $$ sign restaurant with meals being at an average of $18-24. Ambiance is very lovely and has a tropical rainforest feel to it. There's plenty of free parking outside. Hands down, this is the best Mexican restaurant in Alhambra and San Gabriel. When you eat here, expect to pay for quality, it's worth every penny. I've been coming here for over 15 years and have had the pleasure of meeting both owners. The staff is always friendly, and the food never disappoints. The owner, Tom, makes the best Cadillac Margaritas. If you can handle spicy, order the Lomo with ranchera, the sauce is fire and totally addictive. The shrimp enchiladas are also incredible. You can really tell how much love they put into their food and decor. Presentation matters here, and it shows. Even their restroom is one of the fanciest I've ever seen (no joke!). They play great Latin music, Salsa, Bad Bunny, Cumbias, Boleros, and sometimes you'll even catch live Mariachis. There's also a big screen TV if you don't want to miss a game or boxing match. The restaurant sits in a historic part of San Gabriel near the Mission, where you'll often see families celebrating Quinceañeras and taking photos across the street. Get the Mojarra Frita. Delicious and fresh. Hard to find good fresh fish for decent prices anymore. It's a whole fried tilapia in a garlic sauce and it is amazing. Of course you have to be okay with picking out the meat from the bones. But I grew up doing that. Queso fundido was also great. Ceviche tropical was delicious. The only thing I didn't like was the Aguachile cuz I was expecting very spicy and the shrimp was a tad mushy. But would definitely come back for everything else. read more

Had to ask for salsa at a Mexican restaurant. Ridiculous. Unheard of. My wife got Milanesa de pollo. I have never seen a piece of chicken so small with barely any batter on it. Bland as hell. Also no chips. This place is trying to follow all the new lame Mexican restaurants like Kaveleras where they spend so much on gaudy looking furniture and fake plants inside instead of using good quality food. It seemed a long time for the food after we ordered, that's when I realized they don't provide chips & salsa. I don't think there was any option on the menu either. My tilapia was excellent. Was getting some work done down the street at Blossom Market Hall and I decided to swing by here on a whim for lunch... and boy am I glad I did! I was kindly greeted right away by a friendly hostess and bartender/server (later found out he's an owner). I ordered the Fajitas Special, only $12.99 on Wednesdays... how could I not?! I have been here twice and both times their food has been really good. The service is great. I have had their chilaquiles and they were delicious. Just the right amount of spiciness and flavors. New place for me definitely a nice experience. The location is in a nice area in San Gabriel in front of the theater. Parking is accessible. The ambiance is nice but it was a little hot inside the restaurant (mind you it was like 90 degrees outside) so it might have been just me. Ordered some oysters which were delicious! I added some salt and lemon and were very good! The chips and salsa are delicious as well like the guacamole ($11). For my meal I got the Pollo Mole and the mole was delicious! Had lunch with coworkers today. I hadn't been back here in a long time. I told my coworker that the carne en su jugo was one of the best I had ever tasted... I don't know what happened!! The portions were really small the meat was extremely chewy, far from that carne asada flavorful meat and decent portions from the past. The service took long and the food came sporadically, when my last my coworkers finely got his food the others were nearly done with his. I've been coming to this location for over a decade. The original owners recently sold, but I have to say I think the restaurant is in great hands with these new owners. Treated my friend out for her birthday and spent a little under $150 which is great considering the amount of food we got plus two rounds of margaritas. The bartender was also super nice and helpful, letting me know they have over 40 tequilas to choose from, and surprising me with a nice reposado for my drink.
