Where do I start! I love Karla bakery the food and the service is exceptional. I've been here several times and each one gets better. I ordered some party platters online and as always I was very pleased. The ladies at the bakery are not only nice they are on top of their game. As soon as you walk in they offer to help. It's so refreshing to get great service and also it's quite unusual these days. I gotta give it to karlas owners they are on point with customer service. I do have a recommendation please open one up in the south .. I live in the Redlands and I know that a Karla out here ( 184 and 147th) would make a killing ... I recently bought my grandson's birthday cake for his first birthday and was beyond satisfied with the service! The cake was delicious and so were their pastries. Everyone at the birthday party raved about how beautiful the cake was which was a sport theme, and how delicious it was. Very professional staff. Tried this place for some snacks on a recent trip to Miami area and we are so glad we did. Language was a bit of a problem but there were good people around who knew English/Spanish and could translate for us, don't be afraid of the language issue and go ahead and try the place. Their Cafe con Leche tasted better than Cortadito although we originally went there for the cortadito. Everything we tried including guava pastry, chicken croquette was VERY delicious. They have the biggest selection of pastelitos of any Cuban bakery in Miami. Plus the best senoritas in town, hands down (crispy layers, not soggy layers like in most bakeries). Really great media noche sandwiches. And oh those empanadas! I come to Karla's religiously every week. I like this location, the others are slack. Even though this location can get crowded at times, it has the most employees (it's their original location), so they get thru the lines pretty quick. Also they're open 24 hrs. read more

Excellent experience. Hit it for breakfast on a weekend morning so it was buzzing. Prices were incredible, its great to have a neighbor bakery with such fair prices and delicious food. Had a tostada with ham and cheese ($2.50) and grabbed a few pastries as well. But the true highlight was the café con leche. Best 1 had in the 4 days I was in Miami. Blended perfectly and the large was large. One note, staff for the most part does not speak English, I was assisted by a delivery guy who happened to be by the counter. This is my favorite Karla Bakery out of the two i have visited. The one in the Publix shopping center is good too, but this ladies at this bakery really know their stuff. So very disappointed!!! I have been going to Karla bakery on Flagler for over 20 years and met the owners after hurricane Andrew, but I will not return. I placed a party order and when I went to pick it up I had to make this huge line to pick up a few breads and crackers because the lady who gave me the party order could not get the 3 additional things. Ridiculous!! So then I make the long line and When I finally place my order, I have to wait AGAIN so someone else can give me my order. Waste of time and the lady who gave me my order was rude!!! There are a lot of bakeries in town. I will trying another one. Food is good but service is horrible!! read more

I would like to begin by making it clear that I STILL come here every Sunday morning. This is just a review to warn others who may not be as familiar with this establishment. If you want fresh sandwiches (the only thing on the menu LOL) do not come after 3pm, they are all prepared in the morning and wrapped in paper so the later you come the more moisture is on the bread that they just toast making a soggy toast sandwich. This includes the steak sandwich ( I tried to order one last week and the meat was still refrigerator cold, got a refund), the average turn around time for orders is over 10 mins for prepared sandwiches but the meat will come cold between two over toasted pieces of bread so just don't bother after 3pm OR insist on enough nuisances that they HAVE to make it fresh LOL. The pastelitos are burnt and dry, they've tried to fix this but cutting slits into the pastries but I will tell you it didn't work. Why do I still come? They're the only option at 4am on a Sunday and as long as you talk to Laura, she'll personally make sure you're experience is on par with expectations. Also Cuban coffee. Also I've never lived further than 1 block from this location in my 29 years of life so that's why I still bother. IN CONCLUSION, order smart, don't trust the kitchen, and don't come in a rush. Im gonna give it a 3 star review for the food alone (took away two stars for service). There was nothing wrong with the food, it did taste good eventhough it was nearly 6pm (usually bakery food is stale by this time). We were the only ones in the place when we placed our orders: One order to eat there and another order To Go. Well she served us a mix of both orders for dine in and added another pastry which we did not order, did not give us one of the drinks and when I asked for it she you want another one? Um no, I was never given the first one... The top of the soft drink can looked like it was playing in the dirt-really nasty. So I was charged for the food and was ready to leave when we decided to open the order we had placed To Go. It was missing one big pastry that I ordered and when we asked she said, "oh yes you did pay for it but I didnt put it in the box"! Does that make any sense? I liked the food but I am big on first impressions and customer service which was a complete fail at this location- I will not be going back. read more

I used Karla Bakery for a holiday party at my home and instead of serving dinner, I went with finger foods. At Karla, I was able to get mini sandwiches such as pan con lechon, pan con bistec and media noches. All were excellent. I also got croquettas, tequenos, and 2 types of empanada gallegas (chorizo and chicken) each for 25 people. I picked up a beautiful assortment of sweets. The food was great and this is now my go-to bakery. One word of caution, they get very busy so don't go an hour before your party to pick up the food. Give yourself time. read more

Horrible, atrocious experience this morning. I arrived at 6:32am and didn't leave until 6:55am. I was the second in line. I was ignored for almost 20 minutes. I was as patient as I could be but after no one saying a word and one of the attendants clearly not being occupied with customers, writing something at the register, I asked her politely if she could help me. She said, I'll be with you in a moment, rudely, then turned her back to me. She never assisted me, eventually one of the other occupied ladies attended to me. Once she was done giving me my order, I had to ask her for my change. I am a great tipper, I love to over reward people working in the business, I understand how hard it is to do this kind of work however, with such horrible service, not even an apology for the wait and assuming the tip, yes, I did ask her to give me my change, which I should not have to anyway. Karla Bakery employees infuriated me. Not one of them apologized to me, in fact were extremely rude and they assume tips, which is unprofessional and a Miami thing. I am Latino so they are my people but it's just wrong. I hate posting negative reviews, I understand how damaging it is and that owners can't control every small situation that occurs, however, this was a blatant and clear disregard for customers who will choose to go to many of the other many fantastic bakeries we have in Miami that appreciate a customer's money. Ordered a special cake de nata birthday cake for our son's birthday which at first they said they no longer take special orders. They finally agreed to make but they used an old very stale rum cake and the nata tasted like rum. Worst cake ever. No one ate it. Karla Bakery used to be so good. We have ordered there for ages. Ive been coming here since i was a kid. They have lost there authenticity. I used to refer people here for the best pastelitos with the most glaze , now there pastelitos barely have none especially the one that is de carne. They had the best empanadas de jamon y queso and jamon queso and chorizo 2-3 months ago they changed them and they are now using fake ham all cut up like every other bakery in miami . They used to use real ham and cheese which made the taste so flavor-full and so authentic now its really bad taste fake.the truth is i would go every other morning for breakfast my empanada de jamon y queso and pastelito now i have taken m business elsewhere and i live near 27 ave i would drive all the way to flagler or 4 street. The bread used to be nice and warm and soft now its as hard as a rock. You order a toast the barley put butter. Their quality has just gone for the worst yes they renovated but they should not have made changes to the pastelitos, empanadas and bread its all been for the worst until they make the change back i will not be recommending them to anyone. read more

This place should not have as a slogan, "los mejores pasteles de Miami." I have been coming to this particular location for over 20 years and I have seen how they have down graded in quality. The cheese pastelitos are a joke. You get this crunchy, caramelized pastry, that is so flat, it seems someone deflated. Where is the cheese, you wonder? No where to be seen. The rest of the pastries are nothing to call home about, They have increased their prices but decreased in their quality. They don't make new items, it is the same stale menu, since they started. Now they have online service and computerized service in the store, but the attitude of the servers remains the same, rude and non-attentive. I will definitely stop my patronage at this bakery. Instead I found an amazing place nearby, Latinamerica Bakery, great quality, great pasteles, great desserts, great services, highly recommend it and it is only 10 minutes away. read more

Fresh and flaky, buttery and delicious! The guava pastries are so good, the cheese ones too were amazing. The cafe con leche and fresh squeezed orange juice were done to perfection. But for those new to the Miami area, you better be speaking Spanish or know a few words to get by hunty otherwise you ain't gonna be able to get all fancy with your order baby... These bakery is really more like a back yard informal latino type bakery. I can say their croquettes are ordinary and my thought is that if a Cuban bakery can not make a good cuban bread, what are the odds of them being able to make a good French loaf or baguette... For average quality bakery, its better off at Publix or WInn Dixie. read more
