We used Karma Dog Training to start training and socializing our Frenchie puppy Deesell from around 16 weeks. He loved every session but we just didn't manage to get him to follow up properly out of class and his behavior got a little out of control. Probably mostly our fault but after a couple of aggression issues we needed to take serious action quickly to bring him back on track. Enter Charles Harmison, who we met through the Karma puppy training. We just got Deesell back after a couple of weeks boarding and training with Charles and honestly couldn't be happier. His general demeanor and behavioral change is so obvious, to us and finally the little guy is paying attention to commands and through some positive reinforcement exercises we're not seeing the "side eye" looks that preempted some of the snapping. When bringing him back Charles gave us direct one to one training on commands and techniques to help us continue his great work. These are fun to go through with Deesell and make him use his brain so have the added benefit of tiring the little guy out too (snoring on my lap as I write this). Pups seemed to really enjoy his time without us and we received daily pictures and updates by text so we knew how things were progressing. Charles has continued to be supportive and has answered all of our questions no matter how dumb. We didn't expect miracles but we got much more than we could have hoped for to set Deesell and us back on the right path for his and our futures as a happy family. You can't ask for more than that. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone for boarding and or training, he really is a dog "meister".

My husband and I got a new puppy, an Australian Shepherd named Dixie, and brought her to the Karma puppy kindergarten classes to socialize her and get her training started early. Our trainers were Charles and Amanda, who were both amazing! There were a few things in particular I liked about these classes: 1. The controlled play sessions. Dixie had the opportunity to play with a bunch of different breeds of puppies, and all of the play was monitored and they also explained different things to watch out for when they're playing (like how to know if it's aggression, or if it's playing). 2. The format of the classes. After each lesson, they would go around to each puppy and practice the technique with them one-by-one. I felt like our pup Dixie was learning pretty quickly, so they'd often show us a few other techniques within that same lesson. 3. The general Q&A at the end of the class. I found this to be particularly helpful because I would learn about a new toy, or a new bone, that I would use at home and it would make such a big difference! They taught us things that weren't just about the specific lesson that day, but little tips and tricks to do at home to make life a little easier with a crazy puppy. I'm very happy with the experience and will be doing the next set of basic obedience classes with them to keep her training going!

We really learned a lot from Karma Dog training. We have an australian shepherd and the obediance and communications classes helped us be patient with him. We were so proud of how much he learned in so little time. All the trainers are great and always have answers to your questions

After rescuing our puppy Oliver, we knew we wanted to get him enrolled in training classes to work on basic commands and get him socialized early on. At the time Oliver did not have all of his vaccinations, so it was amazing to find a sterilized location we could take him to start the training process instead of waiting. We signed him up for puppy kindergarten through Karma Dog Training and had the best experience. Oliver came into his first class a bit shy and timid, and after the full course has completely come out of his shell. He not only learned how to play and socialize appropriately with other dogs, but learned basic skills that we now use daily. Charles and Susan are incredible and spent time with each puppy during class to ensure we understood each training technique. Aside from the lesson covered each class, they offered helpful tips and advice that we appreciated very much. We are completely impressed with how much progress Oliver made during the course and will absolutely be signing him up for basic obedience training next. Bringing Oliver to Karma Dog training was one of the best decisions we made, and we know Oliver feels the same!

We LOVE Karma dog training and cannot praise them enough. Amanda and Charles teach our puppy's class and have been so educational to us humans and very patient with our fur baby! We can't imagine sending our puppy anywhere else and can't wait to see her progress in the basic obedience. Here's our puppy, Jovi, on her graduation day.

We were looking for a positive reinforcement training class for my German Shepherd puppy Luna when we came across Karma Dog Training. I'm glad we chose to try Karma Dog Training's puppy kindergarten because the class has been great. Puppy kindergarten is a smallish class of only puppies that focuses on socialization and some introductory training. Class is held inside of pussy and pooch pet store(Great store) and is cleaned before every class. All of the trainers are fantastic and give plenty of individual attention to each dog. Every dog is different and the trainers quickly get to know your pup in order to facilitate better training and smoother socialization for that pup. Each class focuses on different training exercises (sit, down, stay, etc) with the emphasis on teaching the owners how to properly train their own dog. Trainers work with each pup to show plenty of examples and address any questions. However, it is still on the owner to go home and continue this training. Next there are mini play sessions woven into the class in order to properly socialize the pup and to give them a break from training. At the end of each class there is time for owners to ask questions about any problems they might be having with their pup. Puppy kindergarten has been amazing both for my puppy and for me. After we graduated kindergarten I wanted to continue working with Karma in their next class, Basic Obedience. We just started basic obedience but so far it is just as good as their kindergarten class. Basic obedience takes place outside at a park instead of inside a pet store. The park adds plenty of distractions, which is a good thing. This class is entirely focused on training the puppy and honing in the skills learned in kindergarten, but in a distracting environment. Each trainer is unique but all of them care so much about the dogs at class. They are always willing to give advice and tips for any dog related questions. Positive reinforcement is the way to go, thank you Karma Dog Training!

Getting my two puppies aged 3 and 4 months to class every week is no easy task. From speaking to Jeff before I signed up, I knew it was the right place for us. I love their philosophy of positive, calm training. I attend Puss and Pooch in Long Beach every Saturday and cant wait to go each week. The facility is clean, staff friendly and helpful. Gabby is great with all the dogs and the parents. Charles is awesome and is always willing to help me with my boys. He has even gone the extra mile by attending to one of mine if Im not able to bring someone along to assist me. They both are calm, knowledgeable and truly seem to love and care for our dogs. I love that it is laid back and not stuffy and high pressured. I see a long, happy relationship with Karma Dogs and I feel confident they'll train me as well. :):)

Tarmac and Gracie taking a quick water break during puppy play time!
    Jamie P.

We loved Puppy Kindergarten! Our Labrador puppy, Tarmac, had the best experience with the trainers from Karma Dog Training. We attended the puppy classes at Pussy & Pooch, a very cute & small pet boutique located in downtown Long Beach. It was a great environment for Tarmac to play and learn with puppies of similar age and size. The controlled play time helped develop his social skills and the 7 basics established a great foundation for his training. I would highly recommend Puppy Kindergarten to new puppy parents who are looking for a positive reinforcement style of training.

I'd worked with two trainers, including a 3 week board-and-train program ($5,000 investment), followed every instruction, and practiced daily, yet I didn't see changes. I was managing the behavior without ever understanding what was causing it. That changed within the first two hours with Brad. He didn't start with commands or tools. Instead, he focused on the psychology behind Sunny's reactions: what was driving them, what was reinforcing them, and what I was unknowingly communicating. No one had ever explained it that clearly. That was the turning point. For the first time, I wasn't guessing or correcting blindly. I could see what Sunny was experiencing in real time and understand how my timing, energy, and responses were shaping his behavior. That clarity changed everything. Walks feel completely different now. Sunny is no longer pulls since my training with Brad, the reactive outbursts are gone, and the experience itself is calm. I'm no longer bracing for problems because I know how to prevent them. I am SO appreciative!

A couple of these weren't terribly serious, but we felt we weren't "in charge" anymore, that our dog wasn't getting the message from whatever we were doing, and that if we didn't do something different, it could really get out of control. Brad really helped us with this, where traditional "training" wasn't working. We have two or three things we're working on with our girl, but here is the most dramatic change we had with one issue. She is very food motivated, and would beg from us at the table whenever we sat down to eat, and would be underfoot in the kitchen during prep. She got overly excited and would not settle and lie down. Brad explained we weren't communicating well with her on a dog level, so to get that communication kicked in to gear, he actually started our session not with this problem, but with making sure she would not dash out the front door when it was opened. This was to establish that we were in charge and what was expected of her. What he showed us how to do worked like you wouldn't believe. It was like a light bulb went off for our girl. What we did affected everything after that. It wasn't about dashing out the door, it wasn't about begging for food, it was about knowing what was acceptable in our pack and to look to us for direction. That night, at dinner, she went to her "spot" with a simple direction and was relaxed during our entire meal. She can now be directed to her spot and will stay quietly any time we need her to. Best of all, she seems truly relieved that she doesn't have to be in charge and that WE are. She is much more relaxed around so many other things. It gave us so much more confidence! I didn't think that what Brad taught us would work. It's quite counterintuitive. But trust me, it worked like magic. This is not dog training - it's communication with your dog. Brad answers all your questions, doesn't waste your time, shows you clearly and directly what will work. We're so thankful we found him!

We definitely recommend Andi!…read more We originally reached out to Andi for consultations regarding both of our Maltipoos, Kiki and Coco. During our initial phone consultation, Andi was incredibly honest and genuine. After learning more about our dogs, she felt that Kiki was the one who would benefit most from formal training and suggested that we could apply what we learned with Kiki to Coco as well. We really appreciated that she didn't try to upsell us on training for both dogs when she easily could have. That immediately showed us how much she genuinely cares about helping dogs and their families. At the time, Kiki was about six months old and was extremely reactive to just about everything in the outside world. We were looking for someone whose methods aligned with our values, and we loved Andi's positive reinforcement approach. Kiki completed Andi's six-week program, and the growth we've seen has been incredible. What sets Andi apart is that she isn't focused solely on teaching dogs tricks or obedience commands. She truly cares about each dog's emotional well-being and how they're feeling throughout the process. We learned so much--not just about Kiki, but about ourselves as dog owners. Andi helped us understand how our own behaviors and responses can shape our dogs, which was eye-opening and incredibly valuable. Of course, the work doesn't stop when the training sessions end. It takes consistency and ongoing practice at home, but Andi gave us the tools and confidence to continue building on Kiki's progress. The effort has been absolutely worth it. One of the best parts is that we were able to use many of the same training methods with our older Maltipoo, Coco, and she learned and benefited from them as well. Andi actively encouraged this, which we really appreciated. If you're looking for a knowledgeable, compassionate, and ethical trainer who truly puts dogs' well-being first, we wholeheartedly recommend Andi and Diamond Dog Training.

When we started looking for a trainer, we received two separate referrals for Yasmeen -- and we quickly understood why. At about seven months old, our pup had unfortunately been bitten by another dog, and we wanted help reintroducing him to social settings with both people and other dogs. We also wanted to learn tools and techniques to feel more confident managing him both inside and outside our home. From day one, Yasmeen was patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping our dog (and us!) succeed. She took the time to understand his personality and tailored her training approach perfectly -- we started seeing improvement after just the second session. What stood out the most was how calm, patient, and warm Alex was with our Charlie. He clearly understands canine behavior and approaches training in a way that builds trust and confidence rather than fear. You could see our Charlie begin to relax and learn almost immediately under his guidance. His mouthing stopped immediately, and the unique new schedule Alex provided has brought order and calm to Charlie's day. Not only are his guidelines used to create order, but also to strengthen the bond and relationship we want with our dog. Most importantly Alex is patient while trying to train US. He did an incredible job communicating with us throughout the entire process. Every day he sent videos, updates, and check-ins so we could see our dog's progress and understand what he was working on.
