Nice selection of food, accessories, and extras for your pet. I came in here looking for a new collar for my dog, but was turned off by the prices. I am not sure if this is supposed to be a high end petco or discount store. I purchased a couple of toys and treats. Huge parking lot, plenty of parking spots and friendly helpful staff. read more

I cannot say enough about how amazing the employees are! My rescue dog first came to the store timid and completely emaciated but thanks to the staffs recommendations (and occasional cookies) my dog is now at a healthy weight and LOVES to stop by at least once a day. They treat her like family and I'm so happy my dog has a safe place for positive interactions. read more

This is the most ridiculous Petco I ever been to I only came here because I was in the town visiting family and had to come here, the workers are lazy they all look like they hate their life ridiculous rude some lady with lipstick treated me so poorly and ignored me when I tried to come in. I wasn't welcomed when I walked in nor asked if I wanted my receipt. On top of all that everything was everywhere and old pet food all over the ground. read more

Cat food is disappearing from grocery store shelves. Many various reasons are given. Action had to be taken. We head to Unleashed fingers crossed. At least some healthy and expensive cans are available. So far every brand purchased has been pussy approved. As always, helpful and accommodating staff. read more

I called to pick up my order to request curbside for pickup. A man picked up the phone and said they can't do it that they're too busy. I said that's fine I can go in but i'm 8 months pregnant so I cannot put the food in the car myself. As soon as I walk in, I don't see one person in the store LOL. I'm pretty sure the guy who carried it out was the one who answered the phone. His name badge said Matthew. He didn't say one word to me lol. Need friendlier staff. I just wonder how they treat animals if they dislike people that much. read more

Mr. Freddy and other employees have been extremely helpful and empathetic. Excellent service here is such a blessing when you don't know what to do to help your babies! It's a convenient location with the refillable cat litter options as well; perfect one stop pet shop esp in this area. Can't say enough about the excellent staff at this store. Two recent experiences: had an online order and the delivery got totally screwed up- close to a week late- Petco Inc customer service was of no help whatsoever. Store manager actually delivered my items off her store shelves that day!; the other day I went get my dogs same treats only to find they had doubled in price. staff member was working the isle and she helped me to did thru all the treats to find similar items that I could afford. so kind. I only hope that the stores supervisors realize what an excellent crew they have at this store and give them all raises!! read more

What a unpleasant experience! I get to the store at 6:56pm to purchase a $60 bag of dog food and a kong. Everything totaling over $75 and You rush me out of the store like I'm not even a paying customer. Kymmie was just rushing people out everyone and locking the door behind them. This wasn't my first time here since I live down the street, but this is my last time. I'm shopping at your store and wasting almost $100 and most likely would have bought more if not rushed. I'll take my business else where. Pet pantry or the pet store off Broadway. Learn to give customers time and space. It's business not your personal time. Btw- look at your outdoor cameras, I saw a doctor or nurse, our first responders, in full scrubs and mask trying to buy something and wasn't able to since he came at 6:59pm. What a disgrace ! Took my pit here for a self wash as he is getting bigger and harder to bathe at home. The space here is great! The tubs are huge, the water is warm, and they provide you all the tools to wash your pet. There's shampoo and conditioner, scrubber, brush, and an apron for yourself. The drying area is convenient and does it's job. They also provide towels! The staff is very friendly and the location is awesome. read more

I used to shop here all of the time. It was convenient. The last 3 times I have been in they have been out of various items. I switched food because they were out. Now they are out of that food. It's a smaller version of Petco. They have the same basic items at the same prices. I don't really see the need to call it something different. It is not a boutique store. It's a corporation that changed it's name to masquerade as a neighborhood shop. I prefer to support actual small businesses with owners that live in the neighborhood. But if you need something for your pet quickly, this place will do. Note: for some reason, all the signs are not lit up at night, making it hard to find. It has a large parking lot, so why not light up the sign so people can find it? read more

This store has some excellent clearance items for pet supplies. I have gotten two dog harnesses and several different length leashes from the clearance area and they were half off or more! Definitely worth checking out for that alone. The store itself is alright. It is a bit small and hasn't always had what I am looking for so I've gone to larger pet supply stores instead. I love their clearance items though and they have some great freshly made dog treats for $1! read more

We LOVE Unleashed and we LOVE Tiara! We haven't used her as a trainer for our two Yorkies, but we love that she is so knowledgeable about their products and services. We normally go to the Petco at the Marina, but the Unleashed store is literally, just blocks from our house. It's so convenient to just pop in for food, treats, or the like. I love that all the employees are so kind and helpful. The store offers a nice variety of products, not the volume you find at the larger Petco, but most of the necessary things pet owners need day-to-day. I love that they have their own parking lot, they are right off of Redondo, and they have great store hours. read more

I come in in here often as it's closest to me. It is a smaller selection, but fits my needs (dog food, flea/tick repellent). The staff here is super friendly and helpful. Shoutout to Maya for helping me pick out flea/tick drops at a fair price. Came in yesterday and tried a cheap collar (bio active care flea and tick collar) and it was a total fail. But for that price (11$) it is expected. I have tried the seresto collar, works great, but on a budget this month. So I opted for the K9 Advantix II for small dogs, Maya helped pick this out. It was a fair price of 45$. She gave tips on how to use it and shared her experience, so I'm pretty confident in the product. Every time I've come here it hasn't been too busy. 5 Stars for the trainer there, 3.5 for the space. The trainer there was amazing. We didn't have anyone show up for the puppy class, but she took us in played with the pup and answered our questions. She also suggested we continue to come to help our pup get socialized. At another Petco we waited an hour and finally someone told us that they have a requirement that there needs to be 2 or more puppies. I will only go to this Petco now. read more

This petco location is my dog, Gigi's favorite place in the world ! As soon as I say let's go see Jen (petco manager), she rushes to the door with excitement. This location reminds me of a mom and pop shop because of their amazing customer service. They truly care about your fur babies and give the best suggestions on any needs you have for your pets. This review is primarily for Tiara the dog trainer at Unleashed by Petco, but I would also give the store as a whole 5 stars. Everyone who works there is friendly and very helpful, as well as knowledgeable about the products they sell. But I digress, because the real aim of this review is to express what a fantastic experience we had with Tiara. First of all, the class is extremely reasonable, particularly in comparison to other local dog training services. Because of this fact, I was a bit prepared for "you get what you pay for" and consequently didn't expect too much but was hoping we'd at least get a little guidance for how to better manage our dog. Well, this is NOT a case of "you get what you pay for", but a case of a really AMAZING DEAL! Tiara knows what she's doing and successfully helped us in training our dog to become more obedient. He no longer is dragging us on the leash and marking at every opportunity. He heals when commanded, sits, shakes, high-fives, lays down, plays dead and more - all from just 6 1-hour classes! Now to be fair, we had to do a lot of work, meaning it was up to us to implement and practice each week using the tools that Tiara taught us, but this was easy to do, because she got us excited. Her teaching and training skills are engaging, but also accessible - she never made us feel intimidated by the tasks we were given each week and also made herself available if we had questions during the week. She was also very flexible if we needed to cancel or change a class date. And finally, this doesn't necessarily pertain to the dog training, but it does pertain to her personality in general and also I suppose to her approach to life and her work, the lady is funny as hell! We looked forward to our classes not only for the great training, but also because we enjoyed Tiara and always left the class with a smile on our faces. read more

When I came to Unleashed it was really spur of the moment so I didn't do any research on the products I wanted/ needed to purchase for my dog Peanut. As soon as I walked into Unleashed I was immediately greeted and asked whether I needed any help. At the moment I didn't. I just wanted to look around first to get an idea of the items I needed to purchase first. After 30 mins or so an associate found me looking at dog shampoo's for fleas. She looked at me and said, "Don't buy that one" and she told me that her friend used the same shampoo and caused her dog to get an infection (or something like that). I quickly thanked her because heck, I didn't really know which dog shampoo works well. She guided me to the Petco Brand of shampoo which looked pretty reliable. Well, took it home and used it on Peanut--ta da, it works! I haven't had any problems with the shampoo or peanut's dead fleas. Thank you sales girl for making a great recommendation! read more

Penny and I LOVE Tiara!! Best trainer by far, my baby girl Penny did the puppy training course and it was money well spent. She learned all the basic commands and tricks in 6 weeks! Tiara is honestly an amazing trainer, knows her stuff and loves what she does. We definitely enjoyed our weekly sessions, Tiara was patient and thorough and Penny learned a lot and enjoyed every minute. You can't beat the price Unleashed offers and with a trainer like Tiara it's a steal. I've recommended her to so many of my friends, if your looking for a knowledgeable trainer that honestly cares and loves what she does please look for Tiara I guarantee you won't be disappointed. read more

I am giving three stars , the entire experience here was not good. It just wasnt good. We went in looking for real bones for dogs, the ones with real marrow....the guy had no idea what I was talking about. My mouth dropped a bit ;) He asked an older women who was so bothered that I knew what I wanted and she didnt, she sent me to back of store where it was all junkie artificial garbage. I walked to front of store so wanting not to give them my business and their they were right there in the freezer!!!!!!! Really? Really? This kind of business doesnt deserve my business or my stars and I am always fair. Shame on this store hire people who love animals and know what you sell. read more

You'll notice a common theme in this thread. This is much less about Unleashed as it is about Tiara Hoyt. She is an outstanding trainer. She is amazing in her training skills, professional, extremely personable and truly cares of not only the dogs well being but yours as well. My wife and I got a new rescue dog a couple months back. We also had another dog for 5 years. After bringing home the new dog, we immediately noticed behavior issues. We were either going to have to get them under control, or find the dog a new home. With Tiara's help, within 6 weeks our new little man is now a warm welcome friend in our home, and a great companion for our other dog. I love it here! Every employee goes above and beyond to make each customer service experience individualized and meaningful. The last two times I've been here, Ray has been an amazing help. Ray helped me pick out a tag and figure out where to put a tag on my dog's harness, and just spent a decent chunk of time helping me find some new food for Charlie when his belly was upset. When we closed out the sale, Ray asked me if I wanted to donate to homeless pets for Charlie. He cared enough to remember his name! I needed flea shampoo for my little guy and got plenty of good advice from the Redhead. Nice lady, I'm just really horrible with names. I got an oatmeal based shampoo and another pack of Advantage. Washed the little guy when I got home and I noticed he was comfortable and flea-free almost immediately . Long Beach has a terrible flea problem. I was looking for someone to train my little shark toothed puppy because I was going insane! So I called around and although hesitant to use a chain store for training, I couldnt be happier with my choice. We have Brad as our trainer and he is kind of the dog whisper, no joke! He just gets them and the best part for me, is that he is also able to explain it to me so that I understand and am not making mistakes at home with her. So now my little puppy, after only 4 weeks of training knows her name, come, sit, lay down, roll over, watch me, leave it, and stay! I signed up for 12 weeks for their package costing $209...and if this is only 4 weeks in, I can easily say it was the best money I have ever spent on my dog. We always look forward to our training sessions, and have now started to come to their puppy playtime on Wednesday nights (free of charge!) read more

I have nothing but great things to say about our trainer, Brad. Prior to training my dog, Bowie, had been chewing things, running out to the street, and generally not listening to any commands. It was to the point that I was worried we weren't going to be able to keep him because he was chewing wires. Thankfully he is a changed dog! Bowie is so well behaved. He can sit, lie down, stay, leave it (huge one for him), and is so much better walking on the leash! I give all the credit to Brad. He has been so amazing with Bowie and we can't thank him enough!!! Came here to buy food for my puppy and after a few minutes of me walking around trying to look for assistance,I finally had to flag down an associate who just got out of the back room. I know it's a smaller pet store,but that should mean that customer service should be up to par and trying to get assistance should always be available. Asked an associate for a large breed puppy food that other pet stores carry and yet the lady who was helping me said that they don't have that. She even said that the brand only carry puppy food but not for large breeds. How could that be when I told her that the brand carries it because I feed my dog that. So irritating that they swear they always know what they're talking about and yet they don't. So,after all of that,I had to leave and go to another pet store when I should've just gone to a bigger pet food place to begin with. What a waste of time! read more

After searching for my dog's food, unsuccessfully, at two other places, I stopped in here on my way home to find out they we're out as well. A super helpful guy working there heard my frustration and came over to ask if I needed help. Unfortunately, after verifying the stock room, he confirmed, they were out of stock. When I relayed my story, he offered to order it online for me and have it shipped for free. Come to find out, it was $20 cheaper online! He walked me through the process and even with some technical difficulties, managed to get my order processed with the help of the manager, Joon. I come here to buy cat food for my cats about once a month. your staff really need to be more friendly and helpful, i was the only customer in the store and was not greeted by Guyla and when i went to check out Guyla didn't smile or seem friendly, rang me up and didn't even tell me the amount just basically crickets chirping as if I was a nuisance to her. This is not the first time. I know what I am buying, i dont expect help but i come in there all the time yet most of your staff are not very friendly.
