We have spent three years having trainers tell us to rehome one of our pups or having training opportunities fall through as we tried to address the reactiveness of one of our dogs toward the other. Our daily routines involved, what we called, "the prisoner exchange," moving one dog inside and the other outside repeatedly so they did not fight. We believed in Leo and William and knew that they could make each other's lives so much richer with the right support and knowledge. When I called Karma for training options, I was told they had the perfect trainer for our situation and that the trainer could come live with us for ten days. Enter - Kai Whitmore - the man, the myth, the legend. I was very hopeful, but skeptical that my pups could get along, however, Kai got to know each of them individually, understood their strengths and weaknesses, and built up their basic skills that would be helpful when they interacted. Within days, Kai had the boys hanging out together in the backyard and the house. Shortly thereafter, they were playing together, napping together, and bonding over their mutual desire to keep our yard cat-free. Now a mere two weeks later, they are co-existing most of the day, though we do give them breaks because it is still so new. Not only did Kai work his magic with the dogs, but he also provided our family the support and confidence we needed to ensure Leo and William's friendship continues to progress and to keep them both continually learning new skills or sharpening old ones. We know within a matter of weeks, we will be living with both dogs on the same schedule and in the same spaces as we have always wanted. Kai believed in the dogs and believed in us. We couldn't have dreamed of a better result. And despite the length of this review, I can't find the words that truly express the gratitude and admiration I have for Kai as both a dog trainer and human being. @KaiWhitmore We had the pleasure of Kai come to our home for 10 days for the full immersive training. Before Kai, our dogs were reactive, anxious and really couldn't focus at all on us. They would run over me the second a door bell rang and look to run out the door. They would bark consistently throughout the day. Thanks to Kai we no longer have over reactive, anxious, ready to run and bark all day dogs. We now have two confident fur babies that are enjoying their trips to the dog park, interacting with other puppies, playing fetch at the beach, jumping the waves and taking walks around the neighborhood. I had to give my Buddy away due to his disobedience. I called their professional (which I'll be nice and keep confidential due to their request) which was more than eager to assist but couldn't get me in soon due to their hectic schedule. I called someone else and was told that person would be able to assist me and they were top notch. I spoke to that individual and they did not help me at all. They said "Great I can help you, where do you live?" Once I stated my location, I never got a response back but my message was read. Im a paying customer, and didnt expect anything free nor cheap. I wanted guidance and professional assistance but did not receive it and do not feel like I have to track people down or check on them every second so they could understand my urgency; which was well presented. We are adults. Im not going to nag about things. This is very defeating as a parent. If you have a dog that may need private in home training, good luck. P.S for most adults that work a 9-5, you'd think their hours would be more accommodating but it makes things extremely difficult as well. We discovered Karma Dog Training after adopting Bailey, our 4-month-old mini Golden Doodle. My hubby and I quickly signed up for Puppy Kindergarten class after receiving a first session free. Our trainer was Samantha. After class, we felt completely confidant that this was THE class for us and we signed up right away. Sam is amazing! We made sure to purchase a package that included the puppy kindergarten class and three private sessions because we knew she was so good with Bailey. In a class setting, Sam makes each pup (and owner) feel like the only one in the room. This can be hard to do when there are more than a handful of dogs. Karma dog also has assistants that help the trainers in class. Leslie is our favorite assistant, and like Sam, she makes sure that each dog and parent understands the task at hand. In a home setting, Sam is personable and thorough when it comes to training. The session is based on whatever the owner and pup needs. We loved getting the one-on-one attention. Bailey loves Sam and has really learned well from her - as have my husband and I! I would recommend Sam - without reservations - for anyone looking for basic dog training to advanced training. We started attending puppy socialization classes when she was 10 weeks old and she is such a sweet pup now that can play with big/small dogs and loves all people. Neither my wife nor I have ever had a dog before and this summer we gave in to our kids and got a golden doodle puppy. Since this was all new to us we were clueless and relying on videos on Youtube for guidance on how to train our new puppy. The videos were helpful but fell short for us. We signed up for the package where a trainer comes to your house for 8 hours a day for five sessions. Sammi was our trainer and we can't say enough great things about her. She instantly connected with our puppy and we saw progress immediately. One thing to realize is that bringing in a dog trainer is not going to permanently train your dog. You have to continue to reinforce the behaviors that the trainer teaches. If you don't do this, most if not all of the progress made will be lost over time. Sammi made sure that she not only trained our puppy but also gave us the knowledge to continue to make progress with our little guy for years. After much research I had chosen Karma Training puppy class for my newly adopted Stevie. Unfortunately Stevie is not quite ready for a full class. The puppy class trainers quickly saw it was too much for us and Kayla took us into the hall to help Stevie calm down. THEN Kayla proceeded to go on with the lesson going on in class at a pace Stevie could handle. She was very knowledgeable and great about explaining to me (first time puppy mom) how Stevie was feeling. My 4 month husky, Mochi and I had our first basic obedience class yesterday and it was just wonderful. I also have 2 small dogs who were easy to train and figured it shouldn't be that much different if we got big puppy right? WRONG!Mochi is super stubborn and would only listen when she wanted to. I was pleasantly surprised when not even 20 mins into class we had her sitting patiently and ignoring excited doggies around us, it's not much but for a 4 month husky with a lot of energy, let me tell you, that is amazing. And it's just beginning. Our trainer Eric was great, he answered all of my questions, even gave me some simple but great advice about issues that we didn't have time to get to in class. The class I had had 4 dogs (including mine) which was great because my dog wasn't socialized yet so it was a great start to kind of ease her into it and I feel like it's just more intimate in small groups that way you can ask all the questions you want and the trainers can spend more time with you and your pup. My experience with the whole thing was great from my initial email asking about the classes, which Jeffery responded to quickly and walked me thru the entire process, to walking in the front door and greeted by smiling faces that showered my puppy with love and pets, to the very end of class. Okay, so I'm totally amazed when the dog whisperer can walk into a room of 12 vicious dogs and have them feeding from his hand in less than 3 minutes, but that's because he IS the alpha in the room. I'm not an alpha and I never will be. So Karma dog training is for the rest of us. We're kind, gentle and way too soft-hearted. But I'm okay with that. I want to be all of that and still get my dog to behave or not lose it when the doorbell rings. Samantha (our trainer) was amazing. And so is the Karma approach. Omg. Roger is AMAZING. I'm not sure who these two angels I came home to even are!!! We adopted two rescues that had zero confidence, manners, potty training and had been struggling to try to train them. We opted for the reverse board and train while we were in Florida for 10 days. I really enjoyed attending the basic obedience class with my 6 month old puppy Enzo on Sunday. Previously I have attended 2, 6 week long obedience with Enzo with a different training company (that I will keep nameless). At this other company the class sizes were large and there were so many other more vocal and aggressive dogs that I felt like my dog didn't get any attention or training help he needed because he was more reserved and quiet in class out of fear. Karma Dog Training is a nice intimate training facility and immediately I felt comfortable here, and it didn't take long for Enzo to warm up either and show his true behavior and stubbornness that he occasionally gets. He had developed a rebellion to the word "sit" our trainer quickly identified this behavior and worked with us to temporarily eliminate the word "sit" and still get the sit behavior using a different word. At one point Enzo got fixated on our trainers shoes, while we were outside, and the trainer actually took of his shoes in order to help divert my puppies attention elsewhere. It amazing to see just how far our trainer was willing to go to help Enzo stay focused and help us both learn different behaviors. In just this one training session I already see an improvement in Enzo's behavior and the way that I work with him. I look forward to the next 6 weeks of class and all the improvements that we will make. read more

We plan on finishing all of our training classes with Karma to get our puppy to Good Canine Citizen level. Their positive reinforcement training technique WORKS, and all of the trainers are patient and kind. Last but not least, the price is extremely affordable. For 7 weeks of classes, we only paid $149. Karma Dog Training is spectacular, I cannot give it a high enough rating! Katie is our trainer and she is the BEST! We got an 8 week old french bull dog that we struggled with training. I found Karma online and filled out their questionnaire, within 2 hours I had an e-mail from the owner and a call from Katie. Our Frenchie not only has gone to board and train with Katie twice for a week period, but he also attends her weekly puppy training sessions in Plano. Katie has talked me off the ledge SEVERAL times and always encourages me to keep working with our pup with patience and perseverance. After he spent time living with her, he came back a totally new dog! She took the time to teach us how to keep up the training with our puppy which was super helpful. She always responds to my texts or calls and is always extremely positive and helpful. Our puppy ADORES Katie. She is a true gem and has a passion and talent with animals. Picked Karma to get some training for my chorkie, chihuahua/Yorker mix. He has fear and aggression issue when it comes to strangers. Samantha E. the trainer said she specializes in this type training. After our first conversation over the phone she said she would email some information to get ready for our initial meeting, I had to text her and remind her to send the information. When Samantha came to the house she spent a good hour and a half going over some of the things we needed to do and gave some homework until our next meeting. She said she would write up directions and a training plan and would email it to us the next day. We gave her longer than the day she said it would take and sent text message to remind her of the info we were waiting on, she said it slipped her mind and she would email it to us. Well after we once again reminded her she never sent anything. We paid her over $150 for the initial visit and she basically took our money and ran. She ghosted us. This place was so fun! My boyfriend and I brought our American Pit here for our first introductory puppy class, and wow was it a blast! The trainers are so sweet and informative. They attended to the dogs very well to make sure everyone was comfortable. Which is great since my puppy is like a human child to me! We didn't even think to bring treats and the trainers were very kind in lending us more treats then they should have, haha! So all in all you can bet we are coming back! I found Karma through a web search and started in their Puppy Kindergarten with my new guy, Hershey. He was 6 months old at the time. The gentle, calm approach of the trainer to all the dogs and owners in the class put everyone at ease. The positive reinforcement and use of combination of key words and hand signals was fantastic. We still have some work to do, but Hershey follows many commands with only hand signs including going to his crate and laying down if there is someone at the door or he has misbehaved. We are really looking forward to moving on with Canine Good Citizen training now and then on to Therapy Dog Training. We recently adopted Wiley, a rescue mix - Greyhound/Pit. He was full of energy with a touch of friendly aggression with the squeaky toys and our other two pups. He also wasn't too keen on manners. We found Karma Dog online and Eric was sent to the rescue! We opted for the reverse boarding where Eric came to our home for a few hours each day for a week. The progress that Wiley made in such a short period of time was amazing. Eric's approach was calm, caring and firm. Wiley learned to sit, stay, heel on a leash, and leave it. The last one is a work in progress but he seems so much more at ease in the house and is much much better. He is a determined dog but very smart and I know with the tips and tricks that we learned from Eric he will continue to develop into a wonderful member of the family! Liza Bruce has worked with our dog, Yogi. When we got him he was very easily distracted, not potty trained, jumping everywhere. Our house seemed very chaotic. Liza has worked miracles with Yogi. He's so much calmer every time he comes back from being with her. He's always excited to see her. He's been very good about letting us know when he needs to go outside. She's also been very helpful getting yogi to walk on a leash and follow commands. I would give Liza my highest recommendation. We contacted Karma Dog Training for help with our recently adopted rescue puppy Joy. Liza contacted me almost immediately and have been there for us ever since! She explained our options (we chose to have one home visit and seven weeks puppy socializing class training) and gave us many tips and advice, all were perfectly helpful, easy to use and maintain over time. Liza is greatly knowledgeable and professional and was great fun for the entire family to work with!! At our home visit she had a short conversation with all of us, learning about each of us and what help we needed. Than each had walking training with Joy and Liza while the others watched. Liza was able to give each one the help he needed, but taught us all the same "language " so Joy learned the same rules from us all. I will start off by saying I do have strong knowledge of dog training acquired out of necessity due to a beautiful girl I rescued years ago. I say this only to add a little to my credibility as my review will be quite glowing but it is the truth. Last night my husband and I had our first training session with Roseanna and our two GR boys Archer and Jasper. Now my training has always been with rescues and they were never puppies so I really didn't know what I was getting into :). We had taken them to classes but found it to be a negative experience (not due to Karma, one person in particular that I will include in my next review) so we weren't hopeful. Roseanna blew us away in the first 15 minutes of training. Not only was she extremely personable and prompt but this lady knows her stuff. She asked a lot of questions to understand our boys temperament and learn how we were handling our training. She reinforced what we had been doing correctly and offered logical suggestions that would bring about a more positive experience. After about half an hour with her training each boy individually and then having us practice, we had no idea who these dogs were. We saw them as little silly biting golden "monsters" who were really cute but mischievous before her arrival and did not recognize these well behaved boys. It brought tears to my eyes knowing that we will be doing right by our boys and our family. I think we all fell a little in love with Roseanna and wouldn't let her leave without arranging another session. We practiced throughout the day with each boy separately and in less than 2 minutes they were following all commands. We know we aren't there yet but with Roseanna there is no doubt we will get there. She is the best trainer I have ever worked with and I would recommend her to anyone and everyone. I've had dogs for an easy 30 years and can honestly say Karma Dog Training is hands down the best I've ever experienced. I've never attended a class that's 100% positive reinforcement and they definitely love up to that. In the past I attended classes then modified their methods to eventually come up with a dog that's well rounded, yet not 100% especially on stay. Then, with my next dog I'd try a new trainer hoping to find that one who could do it all. Karma dog training is exactly that. I started my puppy at about 10-12 weeks. She was terrified of the other dogs. By the end of the first session the trainer had Allie joining the other dogs then returning to her "safe spot". After the second session she played with no hesitation. EVERY method taught at Karma Dog Training worked! I have every confidence Allie will qualify completely as a therapy dog. Another thing different about Karma dog training is you can miss classes without losing the opportunity for that lesson. Karma dog training is set up such that you finish after completing ALL SEVEN lessons. If you miss one you simply wait for it to come around again and attend. PS: The owner is fabulous to work with! We love the puppy socialization classes at Karma Dog training. Each week, Katie, Roger and the other assistant do a great job explaining the training goals and methods. They really take an interest in our dog's progress and success, and I think our dog responds to them well. Our puppy has gained confidence when she is out in public and I believe this is due to her exposure to other people and puppies in class. She has quickly picked up new skills after each class and seems to really enjoy returning each week. The facility is clean and conveniently located. Plus, you can try their classes out before you buy, to see if it is the right fit for you and your dog. read more
