I probably have at least 100 different vets from all over the country on my dogs record, over the 3 years she's owned me. I finally found Lil Lucy's perfect primary care clinic, about 2 years ago. I definitely travel a ways to get to Plano, however I wouldn't take my baby duck (she's a papillon/chihuahua/baby duck mix) to anyone else. Personally, I've had lifelong invisible complex illnesses since I was a baby, and I've been gaslit and literally destroyed by arrogant Dr's who "know everything" and shut me up before words attempt to exit my (or my mothers' back then) mouth. Finding a truly intelligent Dr. with dignity and mutual respect, who listens just as much as they share what they've learned with a client, is not only like winning the lottery, it's an absolutely priceless experience that we can't live without. Dr. John Fuller happens to be a graduate of CSU, which is where we took Lucy to an otologist to further investigate her chronic ear issues. CSU was amazing so perhaps this is where the best vets come from. It was this clinic that finally lead us to figuring out what was hurting her, after maybe only $50,000 was spent running around from clinic to clinic getting nowhere new. Hard to believe but trouble shooting with incompetent dr's really adds up fast while taking nearly a lifetime. Dr. Dena Jones is equally amazing, and they're a perfect team running this clinic. I have been coming here for vet services for my cat since they are very affordable. I use to go to CityVet for my cat, but noticed their pricing was ridiculous. They charge $85 for physical exam and then $177 for vaccinations alongside with heartworm and flea preventative. My cat is definitely a high anxiety and does not enjoy vet visits. I am sure my cat does not treat the staff with love when I leave him with them. However, this staff does not complain or tell me otherwise when I ask how my cat did. I have to say that because I'm comparison to my experience at CityVet, they told me my cat scratched them and was not easy. It's something you never want to hear as a client. It makes you feel bad. I also use their boarding services here. It's very affordable compared to other boarding like PetSmart Hotel or even Rover. But I will admit, the reason I can't provide five star review was due to boarding experience. I like to ask many questions to know my cat or dog is in good hands. When I asked about boarding my dog vs my cat, the person I spoke with told me they don't interact with boarding dogs as often as they just really kennel them and feed/ walk them as needed. They didn't reassure me that my dog will be happy boarding with them. They even suggested that if I was worried about my dog being happy I should check somewhere else. I was shocked by that. I don't know if it was cause they were tired of me asking many questions. Doc did a complimentary first exam of one dog (Mr. Torn Nail) as well as handling his doggie hang-nail, and nail trim (desperately needed) on the second. The staff was professional and easy to deal with. Doc was very accommodating of a walk-in "twofer" Don't know what the cost of a normal exam is because I didn't have to pay for it. They are amazing here. Diagnosed my cats right away after doing blood work . Sadly my 14 year old kitty had a terminal illness and I had to bring her to and put her to sleep. Needless to say I was a complete mess. They were so kind to my kitty in her last hour. A soft blanket was out for her and they were so gentle with her. That made sure I was ok to drive. A week later I received a beautiful sympathy card and not only that , they had taken a print of my beautiful furr baby's paw to keep forever . This means so much to us. I've been bringing my animal children here for a while now. (My background story: I had to leave the veterinary clinic at Alma and Spring Creek next to the Pep Boys. In 2005, our puppy Uni(He has since passed away unexpectedly in 2017)got his hind leg broken, because my husband accidentally stepped on it. When he brought him there the doctor and the staff automatically assumed my husband abused Uni and broke his hind leg. Fortunately, the doctor(he has since retired)was able to operate and repair Uni's leg. One time, after I saw the doctor, I asked Cory a question and she screamed "You're gonna have to make an appointment for that!!! I should had left, but I didn't. Since my calls/emails to the office manager went on to deaf ear, I became Karen, but their attitude one upped and I couldn't compete, so I left and I'm certain that Cory and Gina(female and older version of Beavis and Butthead except they weren't funny)were very happy. Even though doctor was excellent, when you have disrespectful/mean staff, it makes your vet visit very unpleasant). So, back to this veterinary clinic, there is a reason why I couldn't give it five stars and I will explain. They're literally 3 minutes walk from my house, new clinic(younger doctors with fresh set of eyes and knowledge)and I would like to support local businesses. I really like the doctors and their staff as they're very nice. Unfortunately for my babies in recent years, I find it's been very challenging to secure appointments. I'm happy that they're very busy. I've recommended them to my neighbors on Next Door, but I'm afraid it has backfired on me now that I can't even get appointments for my own animal children. Last several years, I started doing my good deeds by bringing them gifts to show how much I appreciate them for what they do as I do for all my doctors/dentist on holiday season. My doctors and dentist certainly do come through(they're very busy as well), ESPECIALLY on some urgent occasions when I need some assistance on short notice, but not my vet clinic unfortunately. I came to the harsh reality: THEY DON'T CARE. My friend said that it's different for doctors/dentists, because we have good medical/dental insurance(We work for a big corporation)and they get paid set fees. Yesterday, on my way from work, I called them to see if they could squeeze in Gin Gin(my cairn terrier mix)as she was having ear scratching bleeding crusty ears(I took her to after hour vet last night and she's doing well). Gin Gin has been having so many problems especially skin conditions. She wasn't cared well by her previous owner. Now, Annie, who answered the phone, said, "WE DON'T HAVE ANYMORE APPOINTMENTS, NOPE, NOPE!!" After I got off the phone, my blood pressure went up and I got mad! I called her back right away and she answered again, so I told her that she was kind of rude which she apologized and I expressed my frustration on how it's very difficult to make appointments which she sympathized and said they've been very busy in recent years which I replied good for you guys and I truly meant it and not in a sarcastic way. I told her that if it continues, I'm going to have to seek other options. I'm for quality than quantity by far. I will gladly pay for it if it's a good quality. I totally get it everything costs money. I would say that several of last few vet visits cost $400 or so, but when I took Ichiro for teeth cleaning(plus biopsy on his growth on his leg while he's under), when the bill came, it was $990(I didn't flinch, but if I was sitting down, I would fallen off my chair). I gave her my card and paid it. Besides, I don't like to gripe about money in public as I find it to be bad manners, classless, cheapskate, petty and seem broke. I don't know if I can pay that type of money at each visit at a vet as I'm not wealthy. It really got me thinking after the conversation with Annie. I almost always come up with a solution and I did with this one too. I decided that I'm going to continue to go to Advanced Veterinary Clinic of Plano for issues that don't require appointments and for those issues that require appointments, go to between after hour place and Parker Animal and Bird Clinic. I really like the after hour place and they're not expensive, they're small and they're also very nice. My priorities are my animal babies and I have to be able to take care of them when they need medical care and I'm so glad I was able to write a review on it. read more

We took our Senior kitty here about a week ago because he had what looked like a really bad eye infection. Turns out it was a tumor behind his eye. We made the very difficult decision to put him down, and everyone at advanced veterinary care was great during the process. From the ease of scheduling appointments, to the great customer service given by all the employees...we will continue to bring our cats here. They have customers for life. During the final procedure, they put a sign out and lit a candle to let other patrons know what was going on. Everyone was very respectful. I never felt rushed or pressured to do anything. FINALLY-I have found a veterinarian office for my Howie Murphy. I adopted him as an 8 1/2 year old senior and put him to work pretty quickly:he has been with me 24/7 for 6 fab years this Spring because he had massive panic separation anxiety-he is a thoughtful, measured, problem solving, great Soul and my job is to protect him as he protects me...so, it is important I get him for wellness checks in a place where he feels comfortable and we have found that here with this Vet clinic-thank goodness because Lord, it has been a rough go here in Plano:seems upper respiratory disease is rampant and no one picks up their dog's poo so-we have that to be diligent against and he has suffered consequences of both, twice now. I believe he picked up 'something' a year 1/2 ago and it went way too long despite me bringing him in on emergency to an emergency clinic, for the poops, which I kept saying seemed related to this gagging coughing he was doing from an excessive, dripping running nose...I got the metronidazole only and left with a VERY sick dog. Kept calling and was told his blood & urine came back great from his senior wellness and I was welcome to bring him back in [would have made 3rd time inside 6 weeks-so, nope]. I looked through every vet clinic I could find more local to Plano and read reviews and checked vet backgrounds...then started calling to set up an appt. by then I hadn't slept properly in almost 2 weeks and was worried but strongly assessed I had to find the right place this time because he was too sick to tolerate vet visit to vet visit-we had to get it right. From the first phone call to Advanced speaking with the receptionist, I felt relieved because she was connected, knowledgeable, helpful but also kind and patient-I was all over the place. I called back to confirm I would bring Howie in and she managed to get me in SAME DAY. I brought Howie in and he was curious and checking out the very clean reception area...immediately, Beth, the Vet tech met us and Howie loved her-I handed off my vet info from Austin and visits here in Dallas area-the receptionist told me she had already gotten everything but would look through to see if she missed any thing. Beth took Howie and I into the back for patient review. I told her my concerns, my thoughts on his exposure and his history-she listened patiently. Howie really liked her and while he was {by then} a little nervous about the room, he was still warm toward her and out in the open. Dr Fuller cane in and Howie said hi-he didn't run u see the chairs or get panic stricken to get out-he was a little concerned but not freaked out. Dr Fuller listened to my concerns about Howie being 14, this gagging and cough, exposure and current status of the treatment for what turned out-negative for parasites-maybe this was flu? He agreed to put Howie on anti biotics straight away. He would use that as elimination diagnosis-which I am on board with. *if Howie was younger even around 8, I would go all out for waiting a few days for labs but not at 14 and sick for weeks. I asked Beth if she had time to do a nail trim and she fit us in before we left-it is then, we met the other vet tech-equally as kind, great energy and Howie loved her as well. We got this visit as complementary and paid the antibiotics & nail trim and left but left in my mind, as a new patient. So here comes why they get 5 stars...Howie went through the course of broad spectrum Clavamox but was not really showing much improvement with this gagging cough. His nose was dripping/pouring...I called 4 days in and let them know I didn't see the improvement we should with the nose running and coughing and he probably needed a different antibiotic-the penicillins are wonderful but sometimes those upper resps are another bacteria that doesn't respond. Here's the deal, I was absolutely grateful for the Clavamox-especially since he seemed to be working a case of secondary, which my concern was, pneumonia, so I was glad for that course...but he needed another type-to which Dr Fuller not only agreed but did not make me bring Howie back in for another visit 4 days later. Instead, confirmed I would finish the 7 day course of the Clavamox then Bring him though a round of Doxycycline-see where we are in 5 days and go from there. If you are looking for a great, kind, caring staff and Veterinarian and Office in Plano, that isn't going to shake you down with 8 visits for same issue your furbaby is being treated for, this Office is a good one! read more

Dr Fuller has been taking care of my dogs for the past 3 years . HE is excellent and thorough and very sensitive . My 12 year old Weimariner - was crying last Friday - he ate some of the chocolate Halloween candy. Dr. Fuller saw us a 5;59 on Friday - and we left him so they could make him vomit - he could not vomit - Dr. Fuller xrayed him and found that his stomach had flipped over- I'm so glad that he sensed a problem and took the time to find the problem . He called me and I came right over and we had to put my "big guy" Duke to sleep but I was able to comfort him in the end.
