We started class a week after we got them...and a week before the COVID-19 shelter in place started. Wendy quickly and seamlessly shifted the class online. That turned out to be great for our dogs since it meant fewer distractions than in-person classes. The class was a great way for us to bond with our newly adopted dogs, to get ourselves back in the mindset of training them (and, ahem, training ourselves), and to work through a few issues that came up with them. Henry, our just turned 2 year old greyhound, started exhibiting increasing reactivity to small dogs when we were on our walks around the neighborhood. So after Basic Manners ended, I enrolled us in Rowdy Rover (also online due to COVID-19), and it has made a HUGE difference. The class built on the foundation of Basic Manners, and has given me tools to redirect his frustration and excitement. That, in turn, has built his confidence, and we are both happier on our walks now. Wendy is a great trainer and behaviorist. She breaks everything down into steps that the dogs can learn, and makes you feel supported as you work with you dog. The homework between classes is fun and builds on the classwork, and I could see the progression in Henry's behavior from week to week. I would highly recommend Basic Manners for all new dogs and their people, and I can now highly recommend Rowdy Rover as well!

I sent an email quickly to make sure that classes were actually going to be held. We specifically took the Rowdy Rovers class with Wendy. I want to start off by saying that Wendy is an amazing trainer. She is super knowledgeable and genuinely cares about the success of your pup/dog. She also wants owners to be successful. It's important to note that you should take this class with realistic expectations. Don't go into this thinking that 5 weeks later, you're dog will miraculously not be reactive anymore. She makes sure you have the tools to continue working on your dog's reactivity well beyond the class. Since the end of class, we have made strides. However, we still have a long way to go. Because of this class, I've been able to take my dog outdoors more often, which is what I've been wanting to do from the start. I have been eyeing some of her online courses, so hopefully we can take classes with her again in the near future.

Ana was a rescue dog when we picked her up at 8 weeks old in January 2024. When she was finally tall enough to peek through the car window, she would bark so loud at the dogs crossing the street that people thought we were murdering her. We thought she would learn from her older packs: an 8 year old female Belgium Malinois and a 11 year old male German Shepherd Dog. We were wrong. She bullied the older dogs. Thank goodness we found Enrique Guey through Omar's Doza Dogs in Palo Alto. We enrolled Ana through Omar's Board and Train program. Ana came back a completely different dog after 5 + weeks. She was able to go on walks with Omar's packs. She was able to board with them without incidents. The biggest surprise was that she was able to go on weekly walks with Enrique's clients' dogs at Stanford Shopping Mall. I would highly recommend anyone who has similar situations to start this training course with Enrique and boarding at Omar's. This is a perfect combination where your dog gets training routines on a daily basis. Omar's team is very friendly and professional. They will screen all the dogs before adding them to the group walk. This is the best of the best team! Totally worth the price compare to the big brand K9 training company. (which I also enrolled Ana prior to Enrique) Highly recommend the training and boarding program! Worth every penny! Just imagine your ADHD dog walking with you at Stanford Shopping Center. And then one day as I was scrolling through IG I found her, by accident. A dog trainer that I was closely following in IG made a comment, praising her for her skill as she and her dog had won 1st place in a PSA competition. I went to her profile and was sucked in by all of her impressive videos with her and her dog and clients' dogs. I was super excited to find that she was a dog trainer located in the Bay Area and she offered Board and Train (B&T)! Based on the breeds she had in her videos I KNEW I had to reach out to her about Obi1. She has a solid structure for her program with specific milestones to meet from start to finish. She shared videos and photos of the progress throughout the program and provided plenty of updates. It was such an amazing transformation to see! Three weeks in we met and she guided me through some basic commands. She was patient and answered many of my questions. What I also appreciated most was she didn't sugarcoat and she was realistic about Obi1's progress. We discussed nutrition and activities and she seeked to understand our environment. She was very knowledgeable and persistent. At the end of the B&T she gave me a packet full of useful information and all the equipment and tools that Obi1 really needed. I got the feeling that she genuinely wanted me to learn how to be a better handler/owner and that she wanted me and Obi1 to be successful. She also offered access to group training sessions to maintain the training as well as to strengthen the new relationship. She is the best of the best! I am beyond grateful for the hard work she has put in to training my pup. Now it is up to me to maintain... but she assured me that I'm not alone. She recognizes that Obi1 was very difficult to begin with so she assured me that I can call her if I ever run into trouble with him. She really made a miracle happen - if she can train my dog to stay in place for over an hour, make him stop running after other dogs for sniffs, and get him to recall then nothing is impossible. Annie was sweet but reactive to cars, noise, and would guard resources like food and people including from our older dog. She would get overwhelmed easily. When Jessie met Annie for her first lesson, her assessment was that while we were doing our best with training her, she would progress more quickly in a structured board and train program. In those 8 weeks Annie has gone from being an anxious and reactive dog to a dog who has much more confidence, skills, and is responsive and trustworthy. We can take her to crowded areas and she's able to chill even with lots of traffic, other dogs, and people. Recently we hosted a baby shower for a friend and at one point Annie was sprawled getting pets from 4 kids at once. She and our older dog now have a great relationship and can play together, share resources. We continue to work on the skills that Annie learned with Jessie. Several people who met her last fall have commented that she's not the same dog. While she will always be anxious, Annie has coping skills and outlets for that anxiety now. We're so grateful to Jessie for how much she's helped Annie and us! Highly recommend her as a trainer.

Expensive and repetitive - not worth the price. This review…read moreis ONLY for puppy agility, as I have no experience with any other of their training classes. I purchased the 12 class puppy agility package for $600 ($50 per class) because it was the most affordable option. Unfortunately, the experience did not match the cost. Each class consisted of 3-4 puppies. Since the dogs worked one at a time, the actual active training time per puppy was roughly 8-10 minutes out of the full 50-minute session. That works out to about $5 per minute of real practice, which feels very expensive for what you receive. The bigger issue was the lack of progression. Every single class started from the absolute beginning, repeating the same basic exercises with no advancement or individual challenges. My puppy picked things up very quickly and because of all the down time, quickly became bored. It felt like Groundhog Day... the same class on repeat for 12 weeks. There was no sense of building skills, increasing difficulty, or tailoring the lesson to the dogs' abilities. The trainers were friendly and clearly like dogs, which was the one positive part. However, it never seemed to register that customers were paying a premium price for very little actual training time or educational value. I f you're looking for real skill development and good value, I would look elsewhere, or else don't use your entire lesson package on puppy agility in hopes that it advances at some point.This program might be okay for absolute beginners who need many repetitions of the basics, but for anyone whose puppy catches on quickly, it's disappointing and overpriced.

We knew he was a sweet dog, but his behavior made it impossible to convince others of his sweet nature. After the first trainer, proved an epic failure We began to think that we would have to return him to the shelter. He was utterly unmanageable and getting bigger each passing day We knew returning him would most likely result in him being put to sleep. His reactivity would've barred him from adoption. We absolutely could not allow that to happen. My wife happened upon Freakin Pawsome's website and the outstanding things people had to say about Will.
