First off I'm so sorry that a few " Karen's" felt the need to blast this business with nasty reviews. Do not base your decision solely on those reviews. You will be doing yourself a huge disservice. From the moment you walk in until you leave you are treated special. This place is so unique and absolutely runs like a well oiled machine. The employees help each other out and give advice to each other in regards to the clients hair. Aubrey was amazing... she's worked her behind off to be a stylist and she's only 19!! She is a driven hardworking woman. We talked about color options and hair cut type before she started. The price was told to me up front and it didn't waver when I checked out. I found this place on google maps called Thursday afternoon had a appointment for the next day @10am decided to give it a try got there that morning the place is enchanting inside. I was called to sit and was greeted by Julie's assistant she's a very beautiful young lady and very nice asked me questions and listened to everything I told her. I have short thick hair and have never found anyone that can nail it so well. I encourage all of you, including those that fit the "stupid foreign b***h" description to avoid this business at all costs. TLDR: The manager denied a valid groupon that they originally said they would accept upon making the appointment. She followed my mother out all the way to the car and called her a "stupid foreign b***h" while in the salon. My mother has been to this location twice, but this encounter happened on the second visit. On the first visit, she tried to redeem her Groupon prior to the service but was told that same-day redemptions were prohibited. She was completely understanding and she paid the full price, as she was excited for the results. After the service was over, she was reassured that she would be able to redeem her Groupon at a future appointment. I was glad to hear this so that my gift didn't turn into some kind of failure. *****Fast Forward to the Second Appointment***** She came in for a second time, relieved that she could actually redeem the Groupon. Upon sitting in the chair, she attempted to confirm her Groupon with the stylist (prior to service). The stylist said she had to ask her manager and came back out. The manager, Julie, said that the coupon could not be honored since my mother had already been to the salon previously. She claimed "If everyone revisited with Groupons then they wouldn't make money". The Groupon was unused and set to expire in more than a month. Disappointed my mother starting grabbing her things and taking the salon shawl off. She told them that if the Groupon couldn't be honored today that she didn't want her hair serviced. I don't know if the manager was overly offended by this act, or if she was trying to recover her pride, but she reacted poorly. She trailed my mother out of the salon, standing less than a foot behind her the entire way and harassing her the entire way out. While trailing her out of the salon one of the insults she threw was calling my mother (Filipino) a "stupid foreign b***h". For some reason she also brought 'backup' (other stylists) in harassing and trailing my mother all the way to her car door. My mother told me at this point she felt unsafe and that this stylist was going to attack her since she was 'out of her clientele's view and continuing her aggressive insults my mothers car, so my mother took out her phone and held it up to record. Only after this, probably because she didn't want her horrible behavior further captured, did she end her harassment and walk away from my mothers car. Do not give them your money. This case has been reported to the BBB. Its probably not a coincidence that this place has a 2.5 rating on Yelp. I encourage all of you, including those that fit the "stupid foreign b***h" description to avoid this business at all costs. ATMOSPHERE: -The salon seemed a little chaotic when I arrived (wearing my required mask). The receptionist wore a mask, and my stylist (under her nose), but no other workers. Staff member's children came in (unmasked), handymen were fixing things (unmasked), and there was a customer (family member) in there (unmasked). -The staff was kind, but a little unprofessional with the way they walked around singing and joking around about random things, considering the cost of their services. I'm glad they seemed to enjoy their job, but would have enjoyed a more of a relaxing atmosphere away from my crazy life. -My stylist (who I had no idea was my stylist until about halfway through the process) didn't interact with me too much. I expected conversation, which was very minimal. I was ok with it, but had never experienced being in a salon where the stylist didn't really talk to me. PRICING: -$200, not including tips, seemed a little extreme for single color - balayage, but was better than the original $320 I was quoted (No cut). -Pricing was inconsistent, and I never fully knew what I was expected to pay, and what services I'd be receiving (Example: I was asked what cut I wanted after my color was completed, but wasn't told that the cut would be a separate cost). SERVICES RECEIVED: -I requested balayage. I ended up with a slightly lighter color throughout my hair, but nothing too noticeable. It doesn't look bad, but it's not much different than when I originally came in. -The process seemed pretty simple. There was no layering of color. Most of my time in the salon was spent waiting for my color to process, so I'm not sure why the cost is so high (I've had balayage done before, and there were multiple layers/colors applied, and the cost around $120, in an upscale salon). OVERALL EXPERIENCE: -I was told by my stylist that parts of the salon were being fixed/remodeled, so I guess that explains the sort of chaos I walked into. The vibe of the salon did not match their pricing. -If you require masks for your clients, then I feel your staff should have the same respect and wear one too. -Clear, set pricing should be priority. Clients shouldn't be confused about the services they're receiving, on top of not knowing what they'll be paying when they leave. You should provide your clients with a breakdown of how much things cost. A piece of paper was used to write down pricing, but was never shown to me. -I do appreciate being seen on short-notice (even though I was the only client there during my 3 hrs, after the family member left). read more

I can't say enough great things about Karma! Not only am I super pleased with my services, but they treated me like family, and I've only been there twice. I went for styling and makeup for maternity photos and thanks to my crazy hormones I was feeling lightheaded, dizzy, hot, etc. My stylist Jenne took great care of me, got me water, cool towels and put a fan on me. The owner Julie was caring and concerned as well. She kept checking on me and made sure I was comfortable. Jenne took her time stopping and starting as I needed to stop and cool off a few times. She was super patient and didn't make me feel like I was putting her behind schedule. My hair turned out gorgeous and my makeup was stunning! I've gotten so many compliments on it today. Found my new salon! I am super picky about my hair - it's long and think and very unruly. I had both a haircut and an experience. My hairstylist knew exactly what I wanted to do with my hair and magically created an updated look for me that was professional and cute. Though the skillset of my stylist is a def 5, had to take it down a notch due to sticker shock. Just not used to paying those prices - extensions color, and in the end a fabulous job no doubt. She's meticulous. A perfectionist. So knowledgeable. If you have the cash to spend... you should go. I knew services would be pricey but for me personally, this has been a helluva year and just wanted to splurge; hair-therapy I suppose. After I returned home I realized that a few of the extensions were not quite right -for me - and contacted the salon for a follow up. Though she empowers her staff to handle the initial inquiries/complaints/scheduling (which is a good thing) there was a breakdown in communication regarding what I needed and the follow-up appointment that was actually scheduled. I will admit -initially I was ticked - but Julie reached out immediately and was so kind, listened to my concerns and made it right - I am thrilled with the results. The most backwards salon in Georgia. They made my wife's wedding week a living hell. Not only did they try to break their contract with her several times, they also tried to overcharge her for Extensions because they ordered the wrong ones. Not only that, my wife was so unhappy with her make up and hair, she washed it all out and got it re-done at another salon the day of our wedding. If you haven't had a good headache in a while go to Karma salon. We should've known not to go there when the receptionist at the front said "don't read the yelp reviews". Read those reviews and that is what is in store for you. This is literally my first negative review I've ever written but it is more than deserved. read more

I really wish I had read these reviews first. Would have ran the other way. Overcharges, wears you down to get more $$, not communicating, not caring about what you ask for or final results. I've never before experienced any place looking to tack on $$ like they do, or the lack of attention to detail. I've already mentioned to a few people I know to avoid. I had apparently been here before (recognized after I went in). Looking through my emails must have been end of last year since I started getting a newsletter but honestly, I just can't recall the visit so nothing memorable. This time, it was memorable. Usually give multiple tries to a place but nope. Not enough good to risk it. This is going to be long so I'll start with services for those that don't want to read about the pricing. There were 2 of us. One for partial highlights (11 yo girl), one for full (me). Both with cuts. I ended up tacking on brow color, waxing and lash tint. For me: Cut not what I asked for. Showed a few pics and specifically said that I wanted angled layers in front. I got all one length in front. Highlights: Just ok. Brow waxing: She left a long line of fine hairs on one side when doing top of nose area. Even though hairs are very light blond, it was obvious if she had of looked. My fault for not looking at that time. Had to fix when I got home and noticed. Brow tint: BAD. I explained I did not want black brows (I'm light blond) before agreeing to and she said not an issue that they would do lighter. While doing brows, they were tag teaming. One applied, another removed and told me that they would need another coat. First came back. I mentioned what the first said and she said didn't need it. Then, later, she decided to add more tint to one side only. I didn't look until I was sitting with other person who was finishing up. One side was much darker and bigger than other side, comical looking. I asked other stylist who agreed and told 1st how to fix (basically wash it off) and to also add some makeup to hide redness from waxing (she apparently also hid a gap in color). If brows aren't black, they are very close (not a color for a natural blond) and have a place at arch with no color so have to fill in every day. Kids Highlights: Partial was fastest I have ever seen (10 minutes?) and I've had partial done on myself many times and never that fast. Fewest foils I've seen. They are ok for a kid...really not worth the $180 they indicated to Groupon their original price is (which doesn't match what is on their website). She liked her stylist for the haircut (Paolo) so added point to review. On to charges: I was looking at getting 2 Groupons and wanted same day. Their ad does not say no same day services (other ads I saw specifically said they DO have same day service as purchase). Called to ask if I could get in that day. Yes. Asked if I could use Groupon same day. Yes. Asked if I should purchase online or if they would match price in store (most will say match price because they save fees). She said purchase online. Appontment 4 1/2 hours later but 2 minutes before pulling in, they called to say they couldn't do that day due to Groupon terms and would have to reschedule (again, that is not in the fine print of their deal on Groupon) and refused to hold and run it later. Said it was a newbie error. I ended up having to go in and cancel Groupon in order to get in. Too late in day to go elsewhere. They said they would match price ($66 and $78 for full and partial with haircuts). Ha! 11 year old saw a picture of cut/color she liked and showed stylist. No consultation, no talking. Stylist didn't ask or give any details, or explain anything at all, just raced off to calculate. $66 partial "groupon price" (supposedly regularly $180) was going to be $195. I told her it was a child, some highlights for Summer, she said it was balayage so cost more. Told her again, just partial highlights. Next price she came back with was I think $155. Needed toner and extra colors. Still, NO. Finally got her down close to what it was supposed to be. Now, onto me. I showed her a picture of the "cut" I wanted. Figured the full highlights part was obvious. Again, calculated up close to $200. Um no. She said I would need toner. At over $100? No. I've had highlights many times without toner (or didn't know because I wasn't charged) with fine results. But...she said I would need more colors. No already! Just do the highlights. She finally came to I believe $115 (up from $78 groupon price) for shoulder-length, straight, non-colored hair. For highlights only. I was tired of arguing. End result with no extras ended up about $70 over what it should have been. I've never before experienced anything like this elsewhere. The kid wants to go back because she liked the person that cut her hair. I set the appointment for her at that time but just writing this review, I'm fuming and will be cancelling. read more

I went to Karma Salon yesterday for my first time visit. My husband bought me a groupon for Christmas. I went to the salon and Paola was my stylist. She was super nice and friendly. After my conversations with her I learned she was doing an internship to get her license. I was ok with that because I have had my hair done by students before. She spoke with me about what I wanted and was very detailed. What really annoyed me was that I was there a few minutes and she says to me that I need to pay $30 for more color and $55 for toner. I paid $60 for the groupon and now looking at adding $85 to the price. Which would be a total of $125 for a hair cut and partial highlight. That doesn't seem like any deal since that is what it cost if I went in without a groupon. The only other little aggravation I have is that I asked for bangs and she just kind of chopped them off. The owner helped shape them, but I still don't think they are right. I wish they were a little longer and more shaped at an angle. Overall a nice experience and friendly staff, but no deal with groupon. read more

This was my second visit to Karma. I just moved here so finding the right salon was extremely difficult. I found Karma on yelp, read the reviews, and thought "just go in a give it a try". My first visit was just for a haircut. I have short thick hair that I straighten. I was introduced to Paola, an apprentice at the salon. I told her what I wanted, and she did not disappoint. She gave me the exact haircut I asked for! I was extremely pleased! It was very easy to style, even up to my next visit. I scheduled my next session for color and cut with her. Today I had my color session. I've been platinum blonde for a few months, so I told her I wanted to keep it that way. She went over pricing, product, and asked what I would be comfortable with. After about a 10 minute discussion, we agreed Paola would administer the color and Julie would cut. The whole color process was amazing! The past salon I went to for platinum burned my scalp....at Karma, it did not burn or itch at all!!!! The shampoo service was amazing and the other girls chatted with me as well. Everyone was so nice! Now Julie cut my hair. Her hair cuts are $80. I know it's pricey, but let me tell you...its worth it! She worked magic and my hair looks great!! She also took time during my haircut to show Paola and the other girls the technique and how its done. My service today was $210 total. I didn't mind....it was worth every penny. My name is Laila and I am a reputable person who has a genuine opinion about where I go and the services I receive. I have beautiful long black hair that my stylist Jenny has been caring for quiet some time now. I have been going to this salon for almost 9+ years. And after getting a horrible hairdo buy a newcomer I was so dissatisfied, I complained to the owner. I was in grief. The stylist had no idea how to manage my hair. And it was my birthday and my hair was ruined! They wasted 1 and a half hours of my precious time and did not give me the look I requested. I straightened my own hair in there by my self. Everybody including the owner were praising my hair do...JUST BECAUSE...that is what they do. Even if you hair do is all frizzy they take the pain to announce how nice it looks. You see, that is KARMA's policy to make you feel beautiful....but please save the crap...when it is not genuine. After my incomplete service I had to pay 40 Dollars from my own pocket and this is with the presence of the owner JULIE (shame on you for wrongfully taking money from me Julie) You are a mother? How can you do this to another mother?? Julie, the owner, who could have easily provided me a hand written rain check for a hairdo in the future. But her customer service as the owner of KARMA was horrendous. I have sworn not to take my clients there and never to give them my business again. If fact I would like to sue them in court for taking my 40 dollars despite the fact that I never even received a proper and complete hairdo!!! Get reay for a class action Lawsuit Julie. I visited this place two times and generally give a stylist 3 times to get to know my hair and cut it correctly. I went to the owner, was referred to her after asking a Walmart customer who did her hair. So the first time I met Julie she was very nice and about to have a baby. I wouldn't be able to have my next appt with her for at least 2 1/2 months. She should have offered to have another stylist cut my hair if for no other reason that she couldn't follow up on my initial cut. Nobody else was performing any services except on other employees both times I visited. Second time, she talked to everyone in the shop but me the whole time I sat in her chair. Somebody off the street came in and had a conversation with her as well as all her employees telling me how good she was the whole time. She went on to cut the hair I asked her not to, went so short in the back she shaved my neck. Thought I would give her a third try, waited for 20 min after my appt time because she decided to have a meeting. I left. She charges $80 for a haircut from her, I figure to cover shop costs because she is the only one working. Too much money for her location and way to much for performance and skill although she will tell you she is very good. I am sure she is but unfortunately not good enough for me. Oh and by the way, I owned my own salon for 15 years so I have some idea as to how a salon should run and the standards that clients look for in a salon. This one did not meet my criteria. My advice, if you choose to try this salon, make sure your price is quoted up front, every step of your service including color toner hilite cut and blow out. Don't go to the owner. She thinks way to highly of herself. Being humble goes a long way. No stylist knows it all and we all have bad days. read more

I truly feel sorry for whatever issues you might have with yourself or others. I feel like anyone who lashes out at others must have some internal issues that need to be dealt with. As far as your services, you loved your hair and it looked amazing. I am sorry that you thought you were being sold to, but my entire staff are all master cosmetologist and are very professional. The only reason anyone would recommend an additional service would be to better your hair and your satisfaction with your services. I would like to apologize to you if you felt like my stylist over did anything, but it would have truly been for your benefit. I know that you made the comment that you liked Heather and I really appreciate that and she does as well. Heather is a great stylist and is great at what she does. However, you did request to be as blond as possible so that could have required extra color. Our Groupon does clearly state that if any additional services are rendered or extra color is used, there will be an additional charge. Every situation is different, so you referencing the above client and the response is not relevant. You hair was extremely thick and past the shoulders is considered long in this industry, I am sure your sister who does hair as well would agree. I wanted to go ahead and pull this quote directly from our Groupon so you could read it as well. I didn't want you to think we were being shady, so I wanted to double check for myself and make sure we did have everything out in the open for all of our potential clients. Appointment required. 24 hour cancellation notice required. New clients only. Any additional services or color will have additional fee. Not valid for corrective color service. It is right there in plain site because we didn't want anyone to read your review and be misconstrued by some of the things that you stated in your above comment. I am truly upset that you will not be returning because you looked great and I know you were pleased with your services. The Groupon is made for potential clients to come in and experience how awesome my stylists are and how great they are at what they do. I have selected my stylists by hand and I believe in them and their ways. I would love for you to come back in; however you have made it very clear by your extremely rude actions and comments about my salon and my staff that you will not be returning. Beautiful decor horrible service. Took 3 hours to get my hair trimmed. The owner/ "top stylist" did my hair but was not a very good listener . It is possible she felt crunched for time since her child had an event she needed to get ready for. However it was not a good first impression and it will be the last time I visit. Julie and the rest of the girls here have always taken great care of me and my hair! The staff is so personable and friendly. They take the time to explain all the products and listen to exactly what's going on with my hair. I have psoriasis on my scalp. My last visit I went in during one of my worst flare ups NOTHING seemed to be helping. My head cleared up with her suggestions quicker than my dermatologist prescribed shampoo, plus the salon products smelled better. Place is nicely decorated . Everyone was very nice and helpful. Felt comfortable and at ease. Used a groupon which was a great deal and was told upfront about any additional charges that would be added. Hair looks great! I will return. read more

I loved my experience at Karma! They are all thoughtful and care about what you would like. Not only did they provide a wonderful service for myself, they always take care of my mom. She is confined to a wheelchair and they are so attentive and caring to her. Furthermore, my sister got her first highlights and LOVES them. You need to just relax and enjoy yourself , they were able to do my eyelashes too! Now when I wake up in the morning , I actually look awakeThank you for taking care of my family! This salon recently put out a Groupon, so I imagine a lot of people will be interested in the experience you may encounter. I have had the worst experience at this salon - which started before I even got there. My appointment was double booked and I had to be rescheduled. This in itself was not a big deal, but when I rescheduled, they fit me in a time slot where there was not enough time for me to get to my next appointment. I had expressed concern, and they assured me I would be done well before I needed to leave. When I got to the salon, I was called by the wrong name by the stylist (not a big deal, but it's all about the details when you're talking about good customer experience, isn't it?). Of course with my Groupon, they had to upsell me - which was fine. But because of the upsell, there was no way I was getting out of the salon on time. I then decided to forego the ever-so-critical gloss because it became clear after just getting my foils put in that there would not be enough time - despite what the stylist had said before we started the process. My appointment ended 15 minutes past the time that I needed to be out of there, and then I had to wait another 5 minutes to be checked out. My hair looked horrid, and I had to come back to get it darkened (why she didn't just use the darker color in the first place and save us all the headache, I don't know - oh wait, I do - to charge me an additional $45). I expressed my disappointment to the owner before going back to fix my color, and she left me a message somewhat accusing me of not understanding that the stylist said a gloss would be needed to even my hair out and that her people would never tell a client how long an appointment would take because it's not a science, and to top it off she made a snide remark about how my hair had box color on it before which may have led to the horrible coloring. I did not have box color on it, two of her people told me we would have enough time to finish my cut/color, and clearly she does not care about making a situation right. In addition to the $45 to fix my hair, my first visit also included a $10 surcharge for extra coloring because my hair was too long - also not mentioned on the Groupon. I definitely can understand the charge, but not if it's not mentioned in the fine print. The owner was quick to point out that this was a Groupon error. Then it should be between her and Groupon. So how does my hair look after the oh-so-important gloss? Still crappy, but less orange. The color I was going for was a caramel. Not to mention that she cut it much shorter than we had agreed on, but I can deal with that as my hair grows fairly quickly. I really wanted to like this salon, and even after the first bad visit, had hopes that it could be salvaged by some good customer service the second time around. It was not. read more

I have been here twice now. Once for a spray tan and once for cut/color. The spray tan was great, absolutely no complaints! I did the rapid color which develops in as little as 2 hours and gets darker the longer you leave it. I actually showered at about 1 hr 45 and the color was perfect, not too dark but noticeable. I was booked for my cut and color with Julie, who's the owner. I have to say it's hands down the best cut and color I've ever had! Now it was very pricey and not something I'll be able to afford all the time. But they let you know the price before, which I thought was a nice thing. I'm ok with spending more if I love the end result! read more

My wife went there for a simple color and came home crying with the worst hair cut and almost $400.00 in the hole after her visit to this salon. She said they pressured her to let them cut it and after the third time of badgering her she gave in. They were only supposed to do a light trim and she came out looking like a skinned cat. I am here to warn anyone that might think they want to give them a try, STAY AWAY. You will only be very disappointed and much poorer for your visit! read more

Karma Salon & Spa is the best salon I have EVER been to. I have trouble finding someone who does my blonde just right. I have never been disappointed leaving Karma. Everyone is warm and welcoming. The owner Julie is extremely talented and went way above and beyond any expectations I had going in. I can't wait to go back in a few weeks! read more
