The food was delish. Dad didn't love the coffee but he can make his own. :) The staff has been there a long time and the ownership is also long-term which I find stable. There are a lot of pluses, but the icing on the cake was that each of three different residents talked to us in passing, and they were very cheerful and appeared happy. My dad is excited to move in soon, and it's a relief to the rest of the family. We're looking forward to my dad experiencing the Men's club, weekly happy hour, and nightly movies. I'll update my review in about three months.

Rather than revising his care or offering support, the facility ultimately evicted him after his final fall, labeling him a "fall risk"--a fact they had known since day one. They violated legal eviction procedures by failing to give a 30-day notice, and informed me while I was out of the country, leaving my father in the hospital and me scrambling to find a new place for him. The lack of empathy during a vulnerable time was inexcusable. To make matters worse, the facility said the only way they would allow him back was if I paid for a private 24/7 nurse--an expense they knew was unrealistic. This was clearly a tactic to push him out while appearing cooperative on paper. Not sure if Aireen T. is still the director but she is not responsive, professional, caring, or compassionate at all. I had to involve Ombudsman to get responses from her on everything. There are also serious safety and staffing concerns. During a power outage in the heat of summer 2024, the facility had no backup generator. We overheard firefighters asking staff where the generator was, and staff admitted there wasn't one. During this incident a female resident was stuck in the elevator for literally hours on a hot summer day!! It was horrifying. Others, like the woman across from my father's room, were left in the dark yelling "hello, is anybody there?" My family and I went to her to calm her down ourselves as no staff member checked on her or other residents to reassure them during this electricity outage. They are clearly understaffed and many of the caregivers are not certified CNAs, and it shows. Staff routinely defer to residents' refusals for essential care, and hygiene, rather than providing informed, proactive support for those with cognitive conditions. Many times I showed up and I could smell he hadn't showered. When I asked staff why they would say that he refused so they didn't do it. Medication for my father was not consistently dosed at a consistent time which was also a huge problem. My father also experienced racism from two other residents, and when I raised this with the Director Aireen, they brushed it off--blaming the behavior on health issues such as UTI and did nothing to protect or acknowledge the harm done to my father. Aireen and executive management did nothing to soothe our concerns. This facility is not safe, not equipped, and not compassionate. I would not trust them with any loved one under any circumstances.

Lawrence, the owner, is very hands-on and is often there to ensure all residents are comfortable and have their needs met. The caregivers are simply amazing, dedicated human beings who go above and beyond their jobs. Bonnie, Lydia, Rebecca, Jose, and others truly cared about my dad as a human being. When my dad was in his last days and hospice was called in, they literally got up every hour in the middle of the night, to check on my dad and make sure he was okay. This goes well-above what we expected. This truly is a home, and the six rooms for residents truly feel like any house would feel. One thing my dad especially loved, the food! His favorite subject while living at Springtime Residence was the food he had at each meal. The caregivers became his friends and part of our extended family. They were loving, gentle, and saw to all of his needs. If you are looking for THE BEST in a home-like environment, then Springtime Residence is your destination for top-notch care. We feel very lucky my dad spent his final months there.

For most who live here the walk is likely prohibitive, probably can be a big risk being alone with no sidewalks. Wouldn't want to fail out there by myself. Seems like an appropriate place to have a car. Hmmm Magnolia is definately beautiful, picture perfect. Outside and inside. It is an relatively small facility, 36 residents maximum. Only 30 when I was there. That's a 17% shortfall. The small size could be very, very good, intimate and more homelike. But here it is a huge liability. Their cash flow is underwater. The 3 hours I spent looking at life there left me totally disappointed, even scared. As appealing as the property is, inside and out, I cannot consider living in this environment. Several reasons. Food, resident's rooms, too many people wandering about looking abandoned, no real and consistent activities to engage the residents, no real landscaped grounds for exercise, no easy access into Danville, no big screen tv in the lounge area, etc. There are some group activities that look really engaging and happy. But still, there are individuals who appear to find themselves completely alone. The staff however, is very friendly and completely welcoming and it appears totally clean and safe. Looking more closely however, the individual rooms are beyond depressing. It feels like nothing has changed in decades. Like a scary motel in a Hitchcock movie. I'm not jesting. The bed I was shown was either from the 1940s or somebody's garage sale. The stuff if nightmares. Magnolia could be absolutely inviting and comfortable. A missed opportunity. Maybe later..... Anyway, as I was preparing to leave Heidi offered to consider a few requests for me such as offering a big screen tv ($300) and plain but large and healthy salads for lunch and dinner. (Assisted living facilities are charging five to eight thousand a month.) Dinner and an inexpensive tv seem very reasonable expectations from over here. Oops, they don't serve dinner. They crank out sandwiches. Got to be that pesky budget. Anyway. Heidi, who is unbelievably charming and full of positive energy - promised to talk with her boss about my requests, incidental as they were, but critical for me, and call me to resolve my questions. Nothing. No follow through. Wow. Another nail in the coffin, so to speak. No inference to the elderly intended. Hey that's me too. Lol. If you are considering Magnolia, share lunch in the dining room with the residents. You'll want to plan dinner elsewhere. Maybe an after lunch - lunch. Where is that big screen tv in a public space. Climbing into or on one's bed to watch tv 24/7 is just unacceptable, at least for me. And please, look closely at the rooms where residents are living. You may find it appealing. Maybe not so much. Food is a huge component of life for residents here. The food is abominable. Seriously. The residents appeared oblivious or resigned. The plate I received was ABSOLUTELY INEDIBLE. The management and staff should eat what they serve to the residents. Management 101. The staff, who are all very, very nice, made lunch for themselves while the residents ate. The Filipino lunch (I believe) the staff enjoyed looked totally delicious (and plentiful). Their table was really happy. It looked like a party. Good enough but the residents should definitely come first. And the portions offered to the residents are quite small. Perhaps appropriate for older diners, perhaps not. I was shocked. I have owned high end restaurants (plural) in Denver, Aspen and San Francisco. I know food service. This is inexcusable, Hello... so - pick up the phone. please.

The last couple of weeks were extremely hard with him not being capable of doing anything; literally. WOW - the care and compassion and kindness shown to my Dad during this time is truly difficult to express. Every minute I knew he was getting all he needed and all done gently and with kindness. The full staff was also very compassionate to me, his daughter, and my mom/his wife. e day my Dad passed I believe every staff member stopped by his room to say goodbye to him, touch him, hug me and my husband, say kind words about him, etc. It could not have been sweeter! Outside is a pleasant, large deck surrounded by trees, shrubs and flowers where we often like to visit my mother. But aside from how nice the home is itself, the care here is what is ultimately important. The caregivers really treat my mother well, just like a loved family member. She is 95 and wheel chair bound, but she is always treated with respect, included in conversations, and encouraged to share her wit and sense of humor. We know that she is comfortable, she eats very well, and she likes the owner and staff here. And they like her!

Everyone from the CNAs, the nurses, the therapists and assistants, the social workers and activities coordinators, and the laundry, food services and maintenance people were kind, caring, and attentive.  I spent a week visiting with my dad, and I witnessed so many wonderful people who truly cared about him, his health, comfort, rehabilitation progress, but most importantly, his sense of humanity.   He loved interacting with the staff members, and they all treated him with kindness, gentleness, and respect,   Due to an illness, he went from being completely independent and mobile to relying on people for even the most basic hygiene needs.  As you can imagine, that can really do a number on your psyche and feelings of self-worth.   The staff at Reutlinger made sure my dad was taken care of and treated with dignity.   For that, we are truly grateful.
