Having worked in healthcare for over 35 years, specifically with home health agencies, I am not new to this field at all. I know when a company does not have its patients' best interests at heart and is looking for the easy way out, or when it just has poor representation answering its phones, which is a huge red flag to move on and avoid future problems. Which is the case here. In summary, my first impression was unfortunate because the reviews I read were so positive. That just goes to show, you have to call and talk to them yourself and go with your gut before hiring anyone, especially someone to care for your most vulnerable family members. I will not be calling back and taking my business elsewhere. VETERANS BEWARE! This is not a company I would recommend to anyone.

Mr. Beck was on-time, professional, organized and efficient. Following the assessment, we were introduced to a recommended caregiver who, assuming my approval, would be responsible for Mom. She was professional, very conversational with Mom and an experienced caregiver. By the end of the appointments, I was confident that Mom would have good, comforting care while I was gone. I was extremely impressed that Visiting Angels responded so quickly, and was also able to provide and dedicate quality staff in a timely manner. I continued the caregiving services on a part-time basis after I returned home as Mom was still not quite stable. Another caregiver was introduced and assigned. After a couple of weeks of continued part-time care, Mom became much better and I was comfortable with stopping the services. I highly recommend Visiting Angels of Livermore. All of my experiences (and my Mom's) were positive. It is a very well managed business with a reliable, kind, and supportive team: owner, office staff, and caregivers. I know it's costly for home care,but we both agreed that these friendly folks would help us out.Price was not a problem.We made an appointment for the meet and greet home evaluation and get to know our new team members and our assistants.No one showed up at the appointmeant that they promised us in the beginning.I guess that $200,000 set aside for his companionship and round the clock care went down the drain. If our primary caregiver comes back next week due to having a health issue we will finish the month out we paid for and discontinue their service and look elsewhere. This was my first experience with a caregiving company and while I found the care satisfactory the…read moreexperience with the caregiver was problematic. First, the caregiver did not respect personal boundaries. This person would give opinions on family dynamics even after we asked them to not talk about it. I emailed the care coordinator with this issue and did not hear back. I had to have a family member call and relay the issue to the owner. I personally did not receive any response from the care coordinator or owner on this issue. Initially I hired a caregiver for overnight care so I could get some much needed rest. However, on the first night the caregiver woke me up at 3am for a question that had they been more attentive to detail would've been able to answer themselves. Perhaps the most disturbing was on the last morning I woke up and went to check in with the caregiver and they were asleep on my couch. The company gave me a small credit on my bill after I told them what had happened. I feel like this was a really big issue and I was less concerned about the money and more about what could've happened while they were sleeping. I didn't receive any follow-up or apology and I would not recommend using this company.

They showed up unannounced and demanded rate increases which basically doesn't follow their own contract. The list could go on and on. After this experience, I'd do a lot more checking and go with an agency that has deeper infrastructure and one that is more professional.
