I cannot express how nice and gracious the staff were. They were so accommodating and made sure all race car riders were safe and everyone in the arcade had no issues. They had every arcade game imaginable as well as an interactive AI experience, a pool table that most adults enjoyed, air hockey, bowling, so many claw machines... I definitely plan on coming back and planning my son's birthday party here!! And I'm coming back to win the big bear!!! I was so close!! Not a pleasant experience, especially when you're trying to celebrate a 3-year-old's birthday. We called ahead and spoke to the owner Lucine, who told us the soft play area had a private party but the arcade and kart racing were open to the public. We called again when we were 30 minutes out to ask about height requirements. Our call was missed -- and they called us back, so they had our number. We drove from Simi Valley to Sherman Oaks to find the entire place shut down for a private event. When we arrived, Lucine informed us that the party had upgraded their package, which resulted in the entire venue being booked. They had time to make signs for the party but couldn't take two minutes to call us back and save us the trip. Or save my 3-year-old the disappointment. When I said I'd be sharing my experience, Lucine handed over free passes -- then asked if I'd still be leaving a review. That told me everything about the gesture. It wasn't an apology. It was damage control. We may give them another chance, but this visit was sloppy and unprofessional. Call ahead if you're planning a trip. And maybe call twice. Edit to add: I already noted in my original review that an attempt was made to remedy the situation -- bringing it up again here with a dollar figure attached feels more like a rebuttal than a genuine response. For accuracy, what was offered to my three children was two rides and an arcade card each. I'd also push back on the characterization that it was 'gladly accepted.' When you're walking out the door disappointed with three kids, accepting something in the moment isn't the same as feeling made whole. As for the 155 five-star reviews -- a business that opened in September with 155 Google reviews but only 21 on other platforms raises valid questions. That kind of gap doesn't happen organically. It happens when customers are specifically directed to one platform. An honest review is not an attack. Came here super late in the evening and this gem was open, glad to see new fun places in van nuys open. They have everything to end any night well. My kids had a blast! They have karts for very small kids and adults! Was welcomed and attended to in a very hospitable manner. The waiver and process to get set up to ride the go karts was super quick. Awesome place for kids. My son usually comes here with the Lunch Group (Dr. Bruce) as part of the social recreation time. It spacious and very clean. My son loves the gocarts! Even my 4 year old was able to do it. It's fully electric, gas free, and just loads of fun. I did mention that if they had more arcades it would just make this place even more amazing. My son's 11th birthday party at Kartopia this past weekend was truly unforgettable! When the party ended, he told me it was the best birthday he's ever had, and that says it all. What makes it even more impressive is that this was a last-minute decision planned within just three days. The entire process was incredibly easy and completely stress-free. From start to finish, the staff was friendly, attentive, and welcoming to all of our guests. They were helpful from the moment we arrived to set up, throughout the event while cutting the cake and making sure everything ran smoothly, and even at the end when it was time to clean up and pack up. The venue itself was spotless and well organized. We chose the unlimited arcade and go-kart package, and it was hands down the best decision (aside from choosing this venue!). Not having kids constantly running up to parents to reload game cards made such a difference. The kids were able to play nonstop, which allowed the adults to relax and actually enjoy the party too. Beyond the arcade and go-karts, they also have a kiddie play area for the little ones and even a pool table for the adults...there was truly something for everyone. This playground meets the needs of all ages of your kids and is a perfect one stop shop to make sure the whole family is having fun. They also offer a wide array of snacks and other concessions. It's clean and well maintained, with the friendliest and most inclusive staff. My nephew is on the spectrum and the owners were there during our time of visit. The whole staff was so mindful. friendly, and ready to help or answer any questions at a whim's notice. It's as if they took extra time to make sure my kiddo was doing alright and was having fun. He wouldn't let go of a bike at the end before leaving and the owner, Arthur gave it to us for free. That's what type of humans this establishment in run by! Just genuinely good hearted people who are in it for the kids and for the love of kids having fun and living their childhood to the fullest. We just went here last weekend for a birthday party and were blown away! Kids birthday party places are usually pretty filthy but this place was immaculate. The owners and staff could not have been kinder and the space is set up perfectly for all ages. The go-karts are electric so no smelly fumes and they take safety seriously. Our son had a ball and so did we. We ended up staying an extra hour after the party was over because we were having so much fun!
