    WAGYU SHORT RIBS

Kasa Moto is a beautiful restaurant in the heart of Yorkville. I visited this restaurant when it first opened a long time ago and it was part of the Thompson group. They no longer own the restaurant. The restaurant is the same, beautiful and friendly staff. We came here for winterlicious. I reviewed the menu and knew I was not interested in the Winterlicious offerings so I planned on ordering from the main menu...no problem, right? First, I want to say our server was great! He was professional and courteous. He informed us that if we chose to do the winterlicious menu all parties had to do the winterlicious menu. Why? Why can't I eat something I can eat? I don't like carpaccio, I'm not interested in beef cheek. Why force people? He said he would have to ask permission. I was shocked! What place forces people to eat from the winterlicious menu? Why give us a main menu? The manager came, and said he will allow it this time. Wow! How generous! He informed us they do this for ease of service. So you want us in and out quickly? I get that. But, we are here to enjoy dinner, not to be rushed. If this is your policy, I can respect that but maybe put that on your website and highlight that. If that was in the website, I would have never even entertained the thought of visiting the restaurant at all. I tipped my server well, he was doing his job. Overall, I won't go back. It's weird to create weird policies that alienate customers. If you have a policy, clearly state that on your website so customers can make an informed decision about booking at your establishment.

Nice service and location. Food is a mixed bag. Maki is great. Udon and fried rice too salty. Overall good experience although overpriced considering the food quality.

    MISO BLACK COD- absolute favorite

It was our first time in Toronto and we found Kasa Moto on TikTok. We had to go check it out. It was in a cute area, we sat up front by the window so we were able people watch. We had a 12:00 brunch reservation, but we wanted to order things not on the brunch menu so we did that along with bottomless champagne for $75. Our server was absolutely amazing. We kept telling her how great she was. We started off with sushi, scallops, ceviche, wagyu carpaccio and miso soup. We also got the black cod and mushroom udon. The black cod was amazing. The wagyu carpaccio was really good too. We left so full and buzzed. I'd definitely go back if I was in town. I wish there was a place like that here in Nashville.

Located in Yorkville, Kasa Moto is a Japanese restaurant with a modern minimalist design, accompanied by continuous music and attentive service. Carpaccio The beef and sauce complemented each other perfectly, fully enhancing the umami of the beef while adding a hint of spiciness. Crudo The sweetness of the scallop and the earthy sweetness of the sunchoke purée worked harmoniously, while the shiso oil provided a refreshing touch. However, the snow peas and fruit lacked presence, serving more as decoration than contributing to the flavor. Beet & Pear A platter of Asian pear, golden beet, and kabosu, this dish became more intriguing with each bite. A single bite might only reveal a simple sweetness, but when comparing the three ingredients together, the dish showcases: A contrast in textures (soft to firm) A layered sweetness, ranging from natural mild sweetness to crisp and tangy notes A unifying creamy aroma from the Yuzu Ricotta The dish maintains a cohesive style while offering a dynamic and vibrant flavor experience. Sushi Somewhat underwhelming. The soy sauce was straightforward and mild, and the sushi and sashimi lacked distinctiveness, making it rather forgettable. Cod (Best Dish) The standout dish of the night--one that justifies a visit to this restaurant. The crispy, golden exterior contrasted beautifully with the creamy, melt-in-your-mouth interior of the cod. The pairing with black garlic and miso sake cream created a new sensory experience. The burst of tobiko in one bite was simply amazing. Kale and tuile added crunch, enhancing the contrast with the tender fish. From visual appeal to seasoning and balance, this dish was flawless. Beef Made with beef cheek, the portion was generous. The meat was incredibly tender, though slightly on the salty side. However, the sweetness of the mashed potatoes balanced it well--highly recommended to mix them together. Chocolate Stone The chocolate mousse was too dense and heavy, making it overly rich and monotonous. In the end, even with three people, we couldn't finish it. Chestnut Cake A chestnut cake that was plain and unremarkable--nothing special. Melon & Ice Cream The melon was noticeably sweeter than what you'd find in a supermarket, and the drizzle of honey made it flavorful without becoming overly sweet. Lighter and more refreshing than the other two desserts, making it my top dessert recommendation if you have to order one. Overall Verdict Top picks: Beet & Pear (appetizer), Cod (main), and Melon & Ice Cream (dessert). Apart from the cod, I feel the restaurant is slightly overhyped. The desserts were disappointing, but since this is a Japanese restaurant, and I didn't focus much on their traditional Japanese offerings, it would be unfair to judge them entirely based on this experience. For the Winterlicious menu, it's worth coming once just for the cod, but most of the other dishes (except for the beef and beet salad) are not worth ordering.

First time here and came for a birthday lunch for a friend. We didn't have reservations but did not wait to be seated on a Friday. Helpful servers! Everything we ordered was flavourful and delicious esp the Wagyu beef, wagyu fried rice and assorted sashimi. Everything was fresh. My friend is from California and has high standards. She loved it. We would dine here again.

I have been here 2 times and each time, I enjoyed most of the food. However, their portions for some of their dishes have gotten smaller since the last time I came. We also got the avocado crispy rice and the avocado did not seem fresh at all. There were a number of dishes I loved though! I'd recommend the shrimp tempura, salmon oshi, jidori chicken, miso black cod, spicy shrimp roll and saiko

Delicious options! The service was great and extremely friendly! Every interaction was met with a smile, and the other servers were also very helpful when I was walking around the restaurant, trying to find a place to take a photo! What a great experience and a great way to celebrate my birthday! Ordered: SPICY TUNA CRISPY RICE 10/10 WAGYU BAO 9/10 WAGYU SKIRT STEAK 10/10 WAGYU RICE 10/10 KASA MOTO ROLL 10/10

Wagyu sliders - the burger seems off, if you have seen their official photos on their website and IG it is very misleading...

Came here for their Japanese High Tea, and overall the experience was good. You can definitely tell there was a lot of thought put into the menu and the ingredients were fresh. However, the maki pieces were a miss , they were tinier than advertised and since we got the end pieces it looked like they were falling apart. The experience may have been better if we were not seated right in front of the kitchen. They were serving buffet brunch at the same time, so the kitchen aromas and traffic masked our "high tea" experience. Perhaps it would have been better if they seated us in a quieter spot, we smelled like kitchen cooking oils by the time we left. For the price and hype, I did expect a little more attention to service and presentation of food.

Strong drinks and great sharable Japanese tapas food. Ambiance and service here is great! It's definitely a vibe here. The highlight of this place is definitely the food though! Drinks are strong and you can really taste the alcohol. Kasa Moto roll 10/10 - Loved this roll as it was packed with flavours and amazing sauces. Great for sharing Pressed salmon sushi 10/10 - Another great plate for sharing and the torched salmon was great! Vegetable fried rice 7/10 - Probably can skip on this one as it was okay and not overly flavourful Seafood udon 9/10 - Nice and saucey with large tiger prawns. There's also a chili crunch to this dish. A great carb option for the table Brussels 10/10 - Sweet teriyaki sauce and slightly burnt that added all the flavour to this dish. Spicy tuna crispy rice 10/10 - A must get at Kasa Moto. There's nothing that can beat some crispy rice topped with fresh tuna! Little bites of happiness all in one. Overall a great place to check out with friends and family. Great small bites to share with the table.

What a swanky restaurant! My coworkers and I came for dinner about a month ago and we had a great experience. I will share that we did make reservations in advance and I suggest you do too. It was poppin' in there! We got a giant booth for the three of us and it was perfect. Very spacious and comfortable, yet we were still able to pick up the fun vibe of the place from our table. We each ordered a cocktail and we got several dishes to share. Our server suggested at least 5 plates for the three of us and that was perfect.. As was my delicious whiskey cocktail. We went with the crispy Brussel sprouts, the vegetarian fried rice, the seafood udon, the Kasa Moto sushi roll, and the pressed salmon. The Brussels sprouts were to die for, I probably ate the majority of them. I also really liked the pressed salmon. Perfectly bite size, we all loved them. The Kasa Moto sushi roll was probably my third favorite. Really, everything was tasty. There wasn't much left over at all. After dining here only once, I totally get why it's a popular spot and reservations are highly suggested. The ambiance was cool, the service was friendly, and the food was delicious. What more can you ask for?

Upon entering I was very impressed by the interior. Very sophisticated establishment. I was extremely well taken care of by the servers and kitchen staff. The food was fresh and different, and I would definitely recommend coming back. I plan on returning to try the other menu items!

Pricey but worth it. It was my second time visiting Kasa Moto and I loved it. We made reservations but arrived 30mins early and they were still able to seat us. Service was good considering it was busy. We ordered: Soft Shell Crab Maki Roll - tasted great Lobster Robata - star of the show, half a lobster grilled and my favourite dish Kamameshi - very flavourful fried rice AUS Wagyu 4oz - kinda pricey, tasted good, comes with a hot stone to grill it 7oz Wagyu Skirt Steak - ordered medium and preferred it more than the AUS Wagyu 4oz I will most likely come back and order the Soft Shell Crab Maki roll, lobster Robata, Kamameshi, and 7oz Wagyu Skirt Steak.

Kasa Moto is one of my favourite places to dine in Yorkville. The restaurant is actually quite big, well decorated, and a perfect place for a date night or nice dinner. Servers were also very attentive to our needs! This was my second time at Kasa Moto. I got the Soft Shell Maki, which was just absolutely perfect: just the right amount of crunch, probably some of the best maki I've tried. I decided to compare the Australian Wagyu and the A5 Wagyu (which I had the first time I came) and it was just as good. For the price, I'd definitely rather get the Australian Wagyu over the A5, but both are a great treat! They give you a small grill/hotstone to cook the slices yourself. I also got the Wagyu Skirt Steak, which came with generously thick slices and was much more filling than the AUS Wagyu. We also got the Lobster Robata dish, which was definitely one of the stars of the night. Perfectly cooked, and a great grilled flavour. And of course we had to have some rice along with all the meat, so I picked the Vegetable Fried Rice. I've tried both the Vegetable Fried Rice and Kinokomeshi (Mushroom Rice), and they are both top tier. However, I do prefer the latter (especially if you are a fan of truffle)! You definitely get what you pay for at Kasa Moto. Although it is on the more pricey side, the quality of the food makes it worth it. Will definitely be coming back for special occasions to try out the rest of the menu!

It's my go-to spot to get my don fix - I love the wide variety of dons (rice bowls) that they offer with various fish and seafood combinations. There are also unique appetizers in the menu, such as Purple Yam Croquettes, Crab Crackers, Braised Bamboo Shoots with Shirasu (immature whitebait fish), and Takowasa (marinated raw octopus pieces, to be eaten with or wrapped in nori / seaweed). Although the dons are the main highlight of their menu (hence the restaurant name), they also offer traditional sushi, sashimi, sushi rolls and sets (similar to other Japanese sushi restaurants). Miso Aburi Scallops were very flavourful - nicely torched, giving the scallops a nice grill / char taste. They came with red and green seaweed, and a bit of fish roe. Large Premium Hana Don contained a good amount of fish and seafood, including a whole abalone, uni, shrimp in the shell, aburi salmon, ikura (salmon roe), salmon sashimi, tuna sashimi, yellowtail sashimi, other various fish sashimi, tamago (egg), and a few slices of cucumber on a generous bed of rice. I liked that the rice was a mix of white rice and some type of dark-coloured grains. Unatama Don came with a big piece of unagi and tamago (egg) that were both excellent. The sashimi were all fresh. Okonomiyaki was disappointing but it was sort of expected... for only $9, it was about 99% just flour pan-fried in a patty, without any substantial fillings (unlike real okonomiyaki, which usually contains protein / seafood, cabbage, eggs, and other ingredients). Location is super convenient near Bay & Dundas, ambiance is very casual, and service is quick.

The menu is set up to where you pick the entree and then what type of protein you want out of pork loin, chicken, fish, cheese, and sweet potato cheese. I settled on the sweet chili katsu. A piece of chicken arrived on a plate accompanied with rice and shredded cabbage. The chicken was breaded in a light panko like crumb and was half covered in the sweet chili sauce. I ate a couple of pieces and the crisp texture and flavor was wonderful. I had a bite of rice and when I got to the cabbage to my dismay I found a long piece of hair in it. I immediately lost my appetite and all I could think about was how great the two bites of chicken was. I gave up the plate and showed the staff what I found. They offered another plate a couple of times and after I declined a refund was issued. Katsuya. sucks for serving me one of the best pieces of breaded chicken in my life with hair in the food. I'm struggling to hold back the tears now as I write. I did get to try the parmesan fries which were ok. I also tasted the udon which is not one of their stronger dishes. This probably would have been five stars had it not been for the hair. I know this happens on the rare occasion but probably shouldn't if hair nets are worn. If you do try out this place, expect great katsuya.
