I would not have known it was there. We walked in and were greeted immediately and seated. The menu is full of sushi and Chinese food options. We both ordered plates that included soup and salad. We also ordered the dinosaur egg roll. The sushi was prepared to perfection and everything was fresh and very tasty. We also ordered one of the lunch specials of Kung Pao Chicken. it was a large portion and very tasty and served with a nice sauce and broccoli. I almost gave 3 stars until I got the Fire Island!!! So there's a sushi place I love out South that I compared Kasai and it just wasn't hitting the same. Now the sushi is decent. The first time I got the Rock N Roll & the Dynamite roll and they are ok. The salmon would be glorious if it was smoked. The cream cheese melts to me but does not stand out when it is fried. The batter is not fried enough. I did not feel like making the drive and decided to see if Kasai had a fire roll and they did! It's not half bad. It's filled with a shrimp tempura stick and then topped with shrimp and I forgot the other toppings. When I go to get it, there typically no one eating inside but it's clean. The lady at the counter is not the most personable but it's good for the far Eastside let alone us even having a sushi restaurant. Go try them for yourself ! read more

We also ordered the crab Rangoon, the spring rolls, an extra side of fried rice, and a spicy California roll! Spring rolls - fresh, full of vegetables, orange dipping sauce, 3 pieces Crab Rangoon - very good, good portion of crab mix, served with the same orange dipping sauce, 8 pieces Clear soup - reminded me of miso, had mushrooms and green onion, big portion Spicy California roll - this was my favorite out of everything, I added cucumber, it has spicy crab meat, avocado, and a spicy sauce on top Hibachi Chicken teriyaki - big portion, chicken pieces are huge I would prefer them smaller, the sauce in the dish was very watery which is a little disappointing but the flavor is great, served with a bunch of veggies. Don't be intimidated by this location or the front of the restaurant. Staff is super friendly price is right and they have a great menu. I had the what I thought was the best Lo Mien I had ever had in DC last year. The Lo Mien here is neck and neck with it. I got the extra spicy option and I'd say it was 7/10 on the spice I was a little nervous at first but I think mild wouldn't have been enough for me. Ginger dressing on the salad tasted homemade. Entire meal on the lunch special was $14. Definitely check this place out if you are near or even far make the drive! read more

Seriously contemplating calling the board of health. I left a special note telling them no pepper, no vegetables. There were hot pepper flakes throughout. Then when I tried to make the most of it eat mostly rice and spit the scald your mouth pepper flakes out I realized most pieces HAD NO CHICKEN. I threw in the flag. This was horrible, the taste eating stale almost cigarette after taste rice, globbed sauce like gelatin clumps, No Chicken breaded clumps covered in fire hot peppers. I tried calling them to tell them this was my first ever request for a refund it was so awful... guess they don't answer their phones either. Please anywhere else is better than this. I'm mad they dared to charge $13 for that crap. It all tasted pre-made and stored in a smelly stale refrigerator for several days. Nothing has ever been this bad. read more

I'm so glad to have a sushi place close to home. Sad to say, this is the first time trying after living here 5 years. Me and hubby shared this meal and had plenty. Salmon teriyaki comes with white rice, soup, and salad. The salmon was well done, smothered in teriyaki onions and green peppers. It might have been like 30 seconds overdone but still very good. Also had a spicy California roll. Didn't seem very spicy at all, but put some Wasabi on it, and there you go. I got clear soup that had a few mushrooms and onions. That was very good. There is a tiny little iceberg salad with a few shavings of carrots and one cucumber piece. Would love to see a few greens added a couple more cucumbers and some more carrots... just saying. The lady atbthe counter was very nice and answered all my questions. I did take out burbyou can sit down and have table service. It seemed nice, clean quiet. They have beer and wine at least and maybe some cocktails maybe premixed. Friends of mine who are regulars here told me about Kasi, so I gave them a try. They promised me that the sushi was fresh and well prepared, so I ordered online and went and picked it up. They offer delivery but I just can't quite bring myself to order delivery sushi. I got there several minutes before my order was supposed to be ready, but they were just packing it up for me. I'm always a little nervous about traveling with soup too, but the miso was very well packaged along with the rest of my order. Sushi was delicious as was the miso and the salad. Super happy with how everything looked and tasted... the only issue was no soy sauce or wasabi. I want to add that the owner reached out to me very quickly after my Yelp review, and stated that they only charge $.99 for delivery. They were very nice about it! And so I looked into it to see why DoorDash charges so much if that's all they get, and apparently if they want to be part of DashPass they'd have to give an extra 10% commission (25% total), which is honestly a lot. So I just wanted to compliment them on their quick response and clarify for others who also might not realize what a significant difference DoorDash charges business owners for that. They surprisingly also got me pretty full. I think they should really list the ingredients in the simple rolls bc I had to ask the server what was in each. She was friendly and attentive. With the Crab Rangoon(8) you get 8 pieces for $12! They arrived nice and crispy. Plus the sauce although wasnt duck sauce like I asked, I believe was homemade. It had a very nice balance with the creaminess of the cream cheese. There could have been more crab but the flavor was there! It had some chili in it but not enough to make it spicy. The Cheese Cake Tempura & Ice Cream was good. I needed to add some dark chocolate sauce to the cheesecake to help cut the richness. The ice cream was a bit too frozen, it was starting to crystalize. Came here looking for a good lunch date with a friend! Left shocked at not only the horrendous sushi but the customer service from the owner herself. Let me preface this by saying the waitress and the hibachi were both good! As and an avid sushi lover and all around foody trying new places is something I always look forward to. I had orginally ordered there prior to taking my friend out and the food was good. So, imagine my shock when the sushi not only tasted gross but also old as well. I never feel the need to write reviews but what happened after was absolutely atrocious behavior from the owner. We had informed the waitress after only eating two piece of these two rolls that they didn't taste quite right. She then proceeded to tell us the owner would be out to talk to us. After about 20 minutes we were going to give up and pay the bill and leave. During this whole time the owner would periodically come up and look at us then go to the back and the sushi station and yell at her employees. When she finally approached and asked what the problem was she barely let us get a word in before interrupting. We tried to tell her that the sushi tasted old and we did not eat it due to this fact. She then stated, "It's not my problem you don't like the sushi. I will not be providing a refund for the sushi. You can pay and receive another roll togo or only pay the bill with no roll. She then walked a way before we could explain that the fish was indeed the problem again. We then see her go and directly yell at the man making the sushi and point directly at are table. If you have the extra 15 min go ahead and head downtown for some real quality service and exception sushi!!! read more

However, I invited a friend out at my second visit, I was a little disappointed. I came for the all-you-can-eat lunch sushi and the seaweed wrapping paper they were using was a bit chewy making the rest of the sushi undesirable. However-today. Let me tell you!! Everything was delicious! And to my recollection they've added some things to the menu. 1. You get a separate appetizer menu along w/the sushi. I thought that was additional, but no. You get a variety of items to include crab Rangoon (bomb), spring roll (bomb!), soups, seaweed salad, Rice's and dessert! What a deal! All this for $13.49 (ages 11 & up) 2. The sushi menu has a nice variety to it as well. My favorite today was definitely their Kasai roll! It's salmon, white fish, avocado cream cheese deep fried with eel sauce. OOOOOMG!!! So good Oh I'll be back! I'm so excited. And next time I'll try the dumplings I had counted them out with the chewy sushi-but not so!! So glad for second chances. I ordered Kasai last night because I was really craving some sushi! I'm pretty sure they updated their menu since moving buildings or maybe since covid? I got the volcano roll, vegetable lo mein, and crab Rangoon. The volcano roll was delicious and had a lot of crab meat! I really, really liked the lo mein. On our first visit the service was horrible, our server kept forgetting things (straws, chopsticks, napkins, the right menu). When she brought the chopsticks and straws they were dropped on the table, the next time the plates and napkins were slid across the table. The food is good and the cuts of fish were thick. The downfall was the slow service. It was extremely unfortunate that the service sucked cause the food is actually good. We've been back several times since and the service is so much better! They are on top of things and the same server from our first visit has improved 10 fold as well. The fish is a good quality and they actually flavor the sushi rice well. Some places don't season the rice well or at all. They do tend to mess up the number of orders you place but they make up for it since they're pretty quick with your order. The all you can eat option is great here because of the quality of the sushi they serve. This has become our regular sushi binge spot. read more

Whaaat!? This place was a great find. I've ordered delivery from here and have always been pleased. One night, a friend and I had a rare opportunity to meet for dinner and we chose Kasai. It's a bit of a diamond in the rough, with the outside not being a good representation of what is inside. It's really beautiful and clean. They have some nice private booths and table seating. We didn't know about the All You Can Eat, so we were waxing and waning on that. If you're a one roll sushi person, the All You Can Eat isn't worthy of the cost, but when we looked at the menu prices vs. what we wanted, we went for it. What a value! We tried a few of the appetizers, which are almost like a tapas or small plate style. We tried the spicy shrimp, tuna, jalapeño bombs, and crab salad. All were delicious!! Then we had five beautiful and delicious rolls, which we stuffed every last bite of into our bellies. If you don't finish, they charge you the full roll price for what's left. We made it, though, but with little room to spare. Just plan accordingly. You can always order more! We got out of there for just under $50, plus tip. Sushi so good it made me forget how to use my chopsticks! I literally took a bite of the Phoenix Roll, and went to pick up my sticks and was struck dumb, now that's good sushi!!! We ate the AYCE option for lunch and it was just over 13 bucks, not bad at all. The salad, the soup, the tea was also all very delicious. The only thing to consider when choosing this option is that if you don't finish the last 6 pieces they will charge you for a full roll; so be prepared to eat what you order. I think that's fair though. The actual restaurant is newly opened across the street from their old location. It has a lot of seating, a bar seating area, and a small sushi bar seating area. However, the actual interior could use some warmth, in my opinion. It is VERY casual, and doesn't match the food. So, don't judge the book by its cover. I'll go back for sure. read more
