Sometimes I forget about Tegry for sushi. When I return, I remember how good it is here! We went on a weekend eve and the place was busy, but we had no wait. Our server was friendly, helpful and attentive. I ordered miso soup and my partner ordered seaweed salad, served cleverly in a martini glass. We had a slightly longer wait for our sushi, but by this time the place was hopping and the sushi chef was busy! We had some nice conversation in the meantime, and were pleased the chef came to confirm a couple substitutions we'd asked for. The other fun aspect of Tegry is their selection of unique rolls, they have some fun twists on traditional sushi that I like...especially the spicier rolls. Our choices were plated beautifully, and the sushi was as good as I hoped for. The parking and accessibility here is excellent, most of the time we get a spot in the row just in front of the restaurant. Always a great visit when we come here. The restaurant is tidy and spacious. The employees are very kind and efficient as well. We just recently visited with friends for dinner, and the food was stunning. Very delicious and flavorful. Sake all around! Great temperature. It was nice and smooth to drink. We all got sushi rolls and shared with each other. Another thing is, you can substitute soy paper for the seaweed in any roll, which is great for those that don't like seaweed (my husband) I didn't have one complaint about the whole visit. I went to Tegry Bistro today and had the most spectacular experience. As a vegetarian, I'm used to not having many sushi options but Tegry provided plenty. I had the Las Vegas and subbed the inside with tofu and cream cheese. The roll was absolutely delicious, the portion size being perfect as well. My friend, also vegetarian, got the Tiger Eye but subbed the salmon with tofu, crafting a spicy roll she absolutely loved. We ended our meal with their chocolate lava cake and it was really good. The service was spectacular. Our server Sofia offered us refills throughout the night and was speedy with our every request. I was very pleased, especially since the restaurant appeared busy. The restaurant's mood is very relaxing. There was beautiful artwork throughout paired with ambient lighting. I saw a roll on fire and smelled it's scent from across the room (it was amazing), I asked a worker passing by what it was and was told it's the bonfire roll. After looking back on the menu I was saddened the roll wasn't vegetarian but I definitely recommend it to everyone so I can live vicariously through you (). Nara is the ABSOLUTE BEST hostess/server/everything. Nara literally did it all except make the Sushi. But the Chefs did a fantastic job of that. Nara makes great suggestions if/when you want to try something new. She even ensures that you can watch your favorite teams on television during March Madness. I gave her a hard time about not knowing the channels because I didn't either. The food is always phenomenal & that includes the dessert. When we walked in an overwhelming smell of soy sauce and what I can only describe as urine smell was throughout the restaurant. Even when I sat down at the table, I looked down and it just was kind of sticky and felt like there was residue on the table and then when I saw the menu had literal soy sauce on it I was just shocked at what I was witnessing. I was absolutely shocked at how horrible everything was. The salad tasted like literally just soy sauce, which is very odd for a ginger salad. Typically, you will taste ginger but all you could really taste is soy sauce. When I saw the portions, I literally laughed, spending between 16 and $20 on an entrée and it's literally enough food to feed a small child. It's funny because the salad was huge and just didn't taste very good at all very sour, but at least that portion was pretty big. I was surprised there was no sort of crab Rangoon's or any sort of raccoons or anything like that which was very odd. Majority places I go to. I have really good experiences so when I have bad experiences like this one, just kind of sucks. I feel like I already wrote a review and maybe it was taken down, but I'll write another one because of how bad the experience was. The service was OK, but it was very quick which isn't always a good thing when it kind of feels like your food was maybe cooked too quickly. I guess the owners must have a lot of friends because the food that I had was not worth five stars and really wasn't even worth one star. And keep in mind I leave very nice reviews when restaurants actually have good quality food and everything is great, but when stuff is bad, you have to let people know And stop trying to be so nice because if I went to this restaurant for a birthday dinner I would've been so disappointed and upset with how poor the quality of food is, I don't know I care about birthdays and what I eat on my birthday and all that even as an adult because it matters. I only have so many birthday dinners I've only had 26 so far so I try to make them count. Now date nights, which is what this, I have lots of those and this one was definitely one where we just couldn't stop laughing at how horrible everything was at every step of the way. Fresh sushi, but the rolls were tiny, especially given the price paid, which was in line with most other sushi places that have nearly double the portions. I ordered three rolls, and it was just enough given the portion size. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated on the interior, and not too loud. It is a nice location in the shopping plaza near the movie theater. I sat at the sushi bar, but despite being right in the line of vision of numerous employees, I found service somewhat lacking. It took a while for someone to take my order, and then when trying to get someone's attention for a small dish of soy sauce, I couldn't find anyone to help, so eventually just got up and took one from another table. Service can be spotty at times but they're usually willing to please. My musts are the crunchy spicy tuna roll, the ali roll, and the spicy ika salad (squid salad). While spicy is in its name, the spicy ika salad isn't really that spicy unless you bite into a slice of red Thai chili pepper so I make sure to avoid those. But that appetizer is really flavorful! The crunchy spicy tuna never fails and I like the ali roll because of the crab salad they put on top. Recently I think I've developed an aversion to mayo (no! why?!) so I didn't enjoy the ali roll as much as I used to but I still liked it. My friend ordered the spider roll and I was confused why there was a basil tasting leaf in the roll. I don't remember it being there before nor in any other spider roll I've had before so I wonder if it's something new or unique here. I was very impressed with this place from my first visit! Some coworkers and I stopped in for lunch here recently and I am so glad they introduced me to it. It's located right in the main Traders Point shopping area with plenty of nearby parking. We were sat immediately and service was quick, which is always a plus for lunch time. I chose one of the sushi lunch specials, which appears pricier than most "lunch special" prices you would expect, but it did include a lot of sushi in the meal as well as a salad and soup. This has been my wife's and my favorite Indiana sushi restaurant for the last 8 years. We've eaten at Tegry Bistro 11 times so far and have never been disappointed in any way. Some reviewers have complained about slow service here (which is probably a complaint that pops up sometimes on every restaurant on every review site). We've never had that problem, but Tegry is a special place for us, not a place we hit when we're in a hurry. We also frequently get there after the dinner rush is over. Regardless, speedy service is not the reason to go to Tegry Bistro, but quality is a different story. We've always been well taken care of. We live more than an hour away, so sometimes when we want to have a nice dinner, we'll make the 2-1/2 hour round-trip drive just to eat here; it's that good! We've eaten at countless dozens of sushi restaurants throughout the country, so although we hardly consider ourselves sushi experts, we know good from bad. We nearly always order the "Tegry Special," which includes both sashimi and sushi, as well as soup and salad. It's an excellent value and never leaves us disappointed (or hungry). When we've ordered something else, we've never been disappointed, either. I wish I knew the waitress's name, but we seem to usually have the same wonderful woman wait on us when we're there. And even though we only get there once/year or so, she remembers us and greets us with warmth and asks if we want our favorite saki! And she remembers that we usually order the Tegry Special. That certainly starts the evening off right! If you want to compare sushi restaurants and only want to critique the sushi itself, I think Tegry Bistro will hold its own with the best. Is it the very best? That I can't say; I've had some very good sushi in Indy, but none I found better. But for warm, friendly service; attractive, quiet, relaxing ambiance; excellent food; and fair value, Tegry Bistro is our go-to destination for sushi. If you're going there with the goal of having a wonderful evening and aren't going to put a stopwatch to your waitress, you won't be disappointed. And I'm not dissing their service at all! Just telling you that we aren't Type A's who are looking to criticize if the waitress takes a minute or two more than we'd like here and there, and we've never once been annoyed at slow service. If you want lightning fast service, this (and probably most other top-rated sushi restuarants in Indy) probably isn't for you. We've come here more than once to celebrate an anniversary, and will continue to value it as one of our favorite restaurants, especially when we want to enjoy a special evening together. read more

This was my second time dining at this restaurant and I was beyond satisfied. For starters the staff was very friendly w/my 5yr old and entertained all the questions she had (it was A LOT). They also allowed her to watch them roll sushi at the bar and explained each ingredient that was used. This warmed my heart. For dinner my husband and I ordered Bento Boxes. I had the teriyaki salmon w/a California roll and he had the teriyaki chicken w/shrimp tempura. For the 5yr old we ordered her a smaller portion of teriyaki salmon w/a side of sticky rice.
