Stopped by for dinner with some pals and was very happy with the food, service, and atmosphere at this place. The restaurant is nicely decorated. Only taking a star because I thought it was weird to have a few bugs flying around in winter, but maybe it was from a delivery.

8.7.25 A Thursday night, seated quickly. Shared the edaname. Hubs again got the Sushi dinner B, which is a chef's choice of a good amount of pieces, subbed the soup out for a salad (their ginger dressing is sooo good - we also bought some to take home!), and this time I tried the volcano roll. I'm a sucker for anything with eel in it. The food is not only beautiful, it is also a big #yum. #ReviewsByRL

Consistently good. Easy to get in even on the weekends but still busy (in a good way). The miso soup and salad were spot on tonight. The soup broth was well seasoned. The steak teriyaki was the winner for me over the chicken. The potato cake was delicious as well. It reminded me of a little pot pie with carrots, peas, corn in it. Overall, a fun meal.

Great sushi! I ordered take out from Wild Ginger and was very impressed. Took about 15 minutes to prepare my order of four different sushi rolls: California Asparagus Shrimp tempura Crab Rangoon Everything was great! Got home and saw they gave me chopsticks and both reduced sodium and regular soy sauce. Pro tip: mix your wasabi with your soy sauce. I love wasabi but can't do a big dollop of it so I mix it with the soy sauce to balance it out.

We arrived on a Monday in June around 5:30 PM. We were greeted immediately and taken to a table. There were a few other tables that had guests. The interior is airy and inviting. The noise level was low, and the table spacing was reasonable. Our waitress arrived in a timely manner to take our order. The wine list is decent enough with fair prices. We ordered a bottle of Klinker Brick Zinfandel to share. We didn't finish it, and they were kind enough to cork the bottle with a rubber wine stopper for us to take home. For filling our bellies, we ordered the Steamed Shumai Dumplings Combination, a Tiger Roll, a Dragon Roll, and the Ramen with pork. The Dumplings didn't have much flavor but they were ok. My husband needed a sushi fix, and the rolls did the job. BTW - they have a lot of sushi rolls to choice from. This was my first time eating Ramen. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed. The pork was tasteless, and the broth was weak. I expected an explosion of flavor but that wasn't the case. It was mostly noodles which I guess is typical? Definitely did not float my boat but that's just me. Overall, it was a good experience with solid service and tasty rolls. We would visit again when in the area.

Wild ginger on 116th street is a casual sushi spot. It is perfect for the family or for a date night. If sushi is not your thing, they have an assortment of food options as well. Service is amazing. They are very attentive and the food is prepared in a reasonable amount of time. My daughter doesn't normally like teriyaki sauce but she devoured the grilled chicken plate, so you know it is kid approved! The sushi is fresh and they give great serving sizes. No small rolls of nigiri here! I definitely recommend trying here if you haven't already

I've gone here for years but recently had a horrible experience! My family and I sat at our table without being helped for 10 minutes. Several waitresses walked right past us without acknowledging us. We got up to leave and no one said anything. Very disappointed :(

    Lots of sushi!

We celebrated our daughters birthday and wanted to try a new place. The restaurant is busy and reservations were suggested for the weekend. (Which we did) We started with edamame and the gyoza potstickers. Both were standard fare. Next, the sushi was great! Unique flavors along side the old favorites. I can't remember them all but we had flaming dragon, waterfall, crab Rangoon, mistake and one with coconut flakes. The reason for the 3 stars is that our rolls fell apart. We are not novice sushi eaters so it was quite disappointing when the flavors were there. They were falling apart so bad we had to use a fork to assist taking them off the platter. Bummer. I think we'd try it again in the future and hope for better made rolls. Maybe it was a new chef?

I can here with a group of friends and we were seated immediately and our drink order was taken. I appreciated it came with a ginger salad and soup. Everyone loves their dishes!

Firecracker Roll 6/10 * (Fried jalapeño,sp tuna,sp mayo) - didn't enjoy this, wasn't normal sushi spicy tuna which was a let down. Hoosier Roll 7.2/10 * (2 pcs shrimp tempura, cream cheese, mango topped w/sp shrimp, avocado, eel sauce) - Probably best one of the night although mango wasn't very fresh. Flaming Shrimp Roll 7/10 * (Tempura shrimp, cream cheese, topped w. spicy crab) - was suppose to come on fire but had some complications. Had a smoky flavor which I guess was expected but odd for sushi to be smokey Stir-Fried Thin Soba Noodles 6.8/10 * (Noodles and vegetables stir fried in a tomato based Japanese barbecue sauce with chicken) - average. Dinner Combination 1 * (Chicken Teriyaki,Beef scallion roll, and Tonkatsu) - the beef scallion roll should REALLY be swapped out for something. Literally anything else.

Wild Ginger never fails! The decor has a quiet, zen feel. Especially in the small dining area behind the doors. The wine display is a piece of art to behold. Its a favorite of our extended family and a great place to meet. I love that the waitstaff is very patient and helpful, too. And the food! Love the sushi, its always fresh and you can see-them making it behind the counter. My husband fave is the spider roll and mine is the volcano roll. Pictured is the flaming shrimp roll and something with a jalapeño topper. I think salmon. Must have the miso soup and side salad with ginger sesame dressing. Don't like sushi, plenty of other options. Just make sure you put it in your dining bucket list!

Target Roll, California with Rice out Roll and shrimp tempura roll
    Jamie D.

Came for a birthday dinner tonight. We split a target, California and a shrimp tempura roll and I got a side salad. The ginger dressing is so good and flavorful but just a little runny. The rolls were really good too, jalapeños on the target roll were smoking hot! Only negative was the rolls were rolled really loose so they kept falling apart.

Our server was very pleasant and explained the all you can eat menu ($27.99/person) or that you can order a la carte of a different menu. We opted for the a la carte. Also, my husband doesn't love seaweed, and they were able to do his items with soy paper (for only +$1 total). We ordered everything at once - ha, I would not recommend this! Like many sushi places, they do charge you if you leave them on your plate. We didn't want to go that route (getting charged mroe), but we really could have done with ordering two less rolls! We were stuffed. Needless to say, it was all delicious (see my pics.) #yum #ReviewsByRL

My biggest complaint is that they use a lot of rice, which can make it harder to try as many different items as you'd like. I also had a couple pieces of tuna that had a strange texture, which was a little disappointing. That said, the majority of the food was solid, the selection was impressive, and the experience was enjoyable overall. If I'm back in Indianapolis, I'd definitely consider stopping by again. The staff was friendly. The restaurant was clean and surface was fairly fast.

Japanese Lasagna Roll - deep fried crab & shrimp with avocado & cream cheese (so good!) 2. Las Vegas Roll - deep fried salmon & cream cheese (flavorful!!) 3. Fishers Roll - spicy tuna roll (not as good as others but decent enough). I also tried the chicken & shrimp combination dinner plate. The quality of meat, rice, and veggies was top-notch, and I really enjoyed the yum yum and ginger dipping sauces. The restaurant itself is welcoming with cute cherry blossom décor and floral/green faux plants that give it a cozy vibe. Service was attentive and friendly, and there's plenty of free parking since it's in a plaza. My only 2 critiques is 1) that the side salad was very small, and entrées priced around $20 only come with either soup or salad instead of both. 2) They do not have the green low sodium soy sauce. If they were to make these adjustments, it would easily be a 5-star spot for me. All in all, a great experience and I'd happily come back next time I'm in town!

We asked to sit at the sushi bar so we could interact with the sushi chefs but, after being in our seats 10 minutes with no greeting or acknowledgement from the sushi guys we asked our waitress, Moira, who said they don't do that here. . By the way and more importantly, Moira greeted us right away and did everything to make us comfortable including allowing us to move to the patio. It's great out here and they've done a good job trying to hide the traffic on 116th. Here are my impressions: Seating, very comfortable and much nicer than I thought. Ambiance, higher end than I thought after seeing photos Wine, the Sancerre was light, not too sweet, and delicious, nice finish. Seaweed salad, delicious! Delmonte roll, Toro (tuna belly!) absolutely wonderful and I enjoyed it to the last bite. Lobster roll, lots of lobster in a light dressing of kimchi mayo on top of the veggie roll. Presentation, all of the dishes came out looking very appetizing. Dessert, Lemon Possette, is fabulous! Custard like but creamier/looser towards the bottom with jam and fresh tanneries on top. It's difficult to stop eating! Chris, the owner, took the time to stop at our table and have a lovely conversation with us and we're so glad he created this touch of Monterey (CA) here in central Indiana.
