The mission: Find delicious food to eat for dinner that is both tasty and easy to take home and feels a little special. The parameters: Not pizza. Sushi House made it easy to order online and I could choose the option to have everything bagged up and ready to go. It was so easy to walk in and grab my bag and head home. The cold food was cold and the warm food was warm and they were thoughtfully kept separate. An easy dinner that was both delicious and caused no headaches. Sushi house is yummy and a solid sushi offering. The menu is pretty extensive and offers udon noodles and hibachi-style meals, as well. The Geist roll was over the top and a bit decadent and oh, so good. They also make a good Godzilla roll, which has become my cooked roll of choice. One thing I enjoyed was all of the add-ons at the bottom of the menu! I got extra eel sauce and spicy mayo as well freshly sliced mango and avocado. This really added to the experience. I paid for these extras, but it wasn't much. Whether it's NYE or any other night of the year, sushi is always a great option to think outside of the [pizza] box for a take-home meal. This place was delicious and also was such a good deal on sushi! The ginger salad and miso soup as an appetizer were delicious. My husband who usually hates salad dressings even loved the ginger dressing! It definitely seems homemade. You can get a lot of meal deals on sushi rolls, so it's cheap even for dinner! The restaurant was dimly lit and quiet. We had good service and the food came out quickly. We liked the sizzling plates, especially the delicious sesame sauce. It is strange that they put a bunch of raw onions on the plate and 3 tiny pieces of broccoli. It needs less onions and more veggies like mushrooms, carrots, etc. The house salad and miso soup were of standard issue at these types of restaurants. Nothing special but good. The spicy tuna sushi roll was tiny but tasty. Again, nothing special but good. We'll be back but it could be a bit more special for the price. read more

One of our favorite sushi places on the northeast side of Indy! It's a quaint restaurant tucked into a plaza near Geist Reservoir, and you can usually walk in without advance notice. We have ordered to-go many times as well and our order has been perfect every time! The sushi rolls are delicious. We particularly like the Geist Roll and Godzilla rolls. I also really like the Mexican roll and asking for eel and spicy mayo sauce drizzled on top. My husband LOVES their teriyaki udon meal. Their salmon nigiri is yummy as well. This is my favorite sushi spot, I've been coming here pretty regularly for over 5 years now. I've tried most of the sushi spots around Indianapolis and the fish tastes the freshest here. Staff is also really friendly, I've never had a bad experience. I love this place and will probably fall into a major depressive episode if they ever close lol. read more

Once we were seated we were given a menu and we ordered right away. We waited a good 20 minutes for our food to come out. We went during the week so I didn't think it would be that long of a wait. First timer at Sushi House and was impressed! It had a nice, open atmosphere but the seating arrangements provided an intimate setting as well. The service was friendly, professional, and timely. They even give you complimentary candy with your check. That's always a plus ;) We ordered a few rolls (see photos) and each were delicious! So make sure to read the fine print on this carefully if you get the Groupon for the dinner option-- it's not two rolls per person, it's two rolls TOTAL. I don't know any adult human who eats one roll of sushi and calls that dinner. I tried showing the server the wording on the groupon but she brushed me off. I also feel like we got lesser service because we used a groupon. I saw the rolls someone else ordered off the 'special' rolls side and they were much larger than ours. The rolls we received were falling apart and you could see the seaweed because there was hardly any rice. They also rang up the bill weird--they charged 15 for the groupon and then took it off, but taxed the entire thing before the discount removing the 'groupon' item so they taxed me for something they shouldn't have. Indiana law says you apply tax after all discounts have been applied, or the total sales amount. I would not return. The rolls were below average in quality and the service was not great. The place was clean and somewhat busy (which is usually a good sign) but otherwise not a return trip for me. read more

We ordered take out from Geist Sushi house on Friday. It was ready very quickly (11 minutes). I would say overall it was okay. The specialty rolls were yummy. But the free normal rolls (tuna roll, salmon roll) were pretty small and skimpy. We always order rainbow rolls wherever we go and this one was not especially big or impressive. If you like sushi and are in this area, I would go to Tomo. Their prices are the same, they often have coupons, and their fish is better. read more
