It claims to also be a Pharmacy, but I didn't notice anything one would typically find in a pharmacy. It could likely be in a separate room. Their selection of chocolates and candies immediately caught my eye. There are varieties of typical chocolates, like Toblerone and Kinder that I haven't seen before. Additionally their cheese selection is pretty solid, that I had to bring some home with me to Connecticut. They also have meats and salami, which I wasn't particularly interested in, so I can't say much about them. They have some fresh fruits and vegetables, unique juices and snacks. The prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly.

Cedar Market offers specialty items you can't find anywhere else and better versions of many…read moreproducts that you can find elsewhere. For example, they sell leban and ayran, which are unavailable elsewhere, and their tomato paste, in glass jars rather than in cans, is superior to all other brands. But all their items are of very high quality. They also feature a lunch table at which you can order from a glass display case containing excellent Middle Eastern dishes, and there is usually a small gathering of Arabic-speaking men there with whom you can speak Arabic if you like, and the store personnel are exceptionally courteous and nice. All in all, Cedar Market is a very happy experience.

I think they strive to offer as much local as possible, whereas these days WF does not, so kudos to them for that. I don't want my tomatoes from Mexico if they are in season here. That said, you may not find everything you're looking for as the selection varies, but I can always count on finding an organic baked potato and I'm not going to find that at Robert's, the neighborhood supermarket. I used to think pricing was super high here, but I no longer feel that way. In fact, they are often cheaper than Robert's, as it seems like they are just pricing for tourists looking to stock their vacation rentals. They have a good selection of vegan items, even locally-made cheeses and meats, in addition to the commercial brands. And if you hit it at the right time, there's locally-made vegan baked goods, too. They have a modest wine and beer selection but still convenient if you need it. I think the neighborhood should support the Food Co-op. When it first opened, there was all this strange begrudgement around it, "we wanted a real supermarket," but when that so-called "real" supermarket opened it was a bit of an eye-opener for most of us ($7 for OJ five years ago was unheard of, but of course most of us wouldn't bat an eye in this economy).

I was delighted that they had everything I needed and I picked up some new multivitamins using the friendly owners suggestions. The store isnt too large but they had everything I needed in their selection. I'm excited to return and browse their shelves when I have more time. It was good, but tasted like chicken fingers. However, I had to try alligator before I left New Orleans. For my entree, I got a fried soft shell crab sandwich on a bun.
