We came to watch our friends get married in Disneyworld on tv. To be honest, I would have never visited this local bar of my own devices. Easy to get to - just off the Harrison Redline. Lots of beers on draft as well as cans and bottles. The bartenders, in spite of the crowd for wedding viewing and the regular patrons, were awesome. There didn't seem to be table service, but they were quick to notice me at the bar when I needed a beer (which is saying something, as I am horizontally challenged). There is a 10.00 minimum to hold a tab, but they do take cards, which is great and not a problem. This is interesting, they don't really have a food menu - but they allow you to bring in outside food. Which is...unconventional, but nice? I'm not sure if I would venture out here again on purpose, but I'm glad I have this bar in my wheelhouse when I am in Printer's Row again. read more

I've been living in the neighborhood of Kasey's for almost a decade, and while Kasey's was never really a go to bar for me, it was always a super solid place to go. And over the years, it's continued to grow on me. Sure, sometimes it's hard to get a table and can get a bit cramped, but that just speaks to how much of a watering hole it is for Printer's Row. They have a great beer selection that's continually updated, and while they don't serve food here, they also don't care if you bring in your own stuff. Just the other night I had Uber eats deliver food here, and when I found that they forgot the plasticware, Kasey's had me covered. Heck, they even let dogs in unless it's a big game that night. Is this a destination location? Nah. Is it a great place to go when you just want to hang out and have a few beers? Definitely. read more

Solid spot. Quiet, not too crowded, cheap drinks. Bartenders are fast and attentive and serve good drinks. The place isn't too big, so try and get there before it fills up. Went there on a thursday and around 8 all the tables and the bar were full. Awesome atmosphere though, seems like a great neighborhood bar to frequent. It's byof so take good advantage. Update: this has become one of my favorite bars to go to and honestly I wouldn't have it any other way. Kasey's Tavern is the perfect neighborhood place to pop in and have a beer when you are in Printers Row. The first time I was here- I found out that this place has the second oldest liquor license in the city of Chicago (now I am on a mission to find where the first one was issued . . . oh the work of going to soooo many bars!) I love the original old bar that frames one side of the space with the old fashioned door handles, the carved bar and the long mirror. There are tables scattered throughout and a small patio out front. I know it's the trend, but I could live without all the flat screen TV's that line the wall above the bar. The good news? They are out of your line of sight so unless you want to look up and watch a game, you can "tune" them out! Kasey's serves no food except for pizza, but if you want- you can order take out from Hackney's which is just down the street. Plenty of beer specials keep the locals happy (like $3 drafts on Saturday nights). Check the listings that are on the bar. The friendly bartender was quick to notice my return visit and welcomed me back. And street parking is pretty easy around this neighborhood- but if you can't find that- there is a pay lot just up the street. I love bars like this that remind me of another era but keep doing what they do best; serving good drinks, to a fun crowd without any pretense that they are anything but the neighborhood bar! read more

I'm starting to think that this is one of the best bars within a couple miles of the Loop but there's nothing particularly outstanding about it. It DOES have the second-oldest liquor license in the city, which was a neat piece of trivia to drop on my friends. We had about ten people in town for a wedding, and I was the default social coordinator. I chose Kasey's as the place to congregate before the rehearsal dinner on Friday afternoon/evening. We spent a total of three and a half very pleasant hours and everyone complimented me on the choice. I'd like to think that this was their biggest bar tab of the...day? Week? You're welcome, Kasey's! Lagunitas drafts were on special, but I was happy with the Left Hand Sawtooth and the Rogue Juniper Pale Ale, especially the latter as it was a warm day, with the front doors open to the beautiful late-summer sunshine. Allagash White was another popular choice. Even as happy hour began, there was plenty of room for our growing group. I picked the joint in part because I hoped that it would be mostly immune to the Loop after-work crowd, and I was right. It's a straightforward, no-frills bar, but with good service, great specials (e.g. $3 pints on Saturdays) and a healthy beer selection. What more can you really ask for? read more

Lots of TVs, music, people, and plenty of beer to choose from. I stumbled upon this place while in town and wanted to check it out as I saw it had good reviews. Upon walking in there is a large number of TVs on the wall above the bar and there is seating not at the bar as well. I sat at the bar. I was impressed with their beer selection and the bartenders were attentive and friendly. The beer prices were good for the area. I would definitely come back. One note and that is they do not serve food however they offer menus of local restaurants that you can order from and have delivered to the bar. read more

Sat outside and had a wonderful evening! Wait staff is super friendly, don't rush you and the beer selection is outstanding according to my companion! (I don't drink beer but had a margarita - also excellent.) SUPER dog friendly (as were most other people on the patio) which is something we haven't experienced at a lot of places in Chicago. The only food available is pizza but it was good. We had the meat lovers option (sausage, pepperoni & bacon) and enjoyed it. We'll most likely be back soon! read more

It's bring your own food! Which, I think, is kind of amazing. Most restaurants don't have good drink selections and most bars don't have the best food (and if they do, it's waaaay expensive.) So it's nice that you can bring Taco Bell or whatever, and get your drinks in at Kasey's. They have a giant drink list, so you'll find something for everyone. The bar itself is small. It has maybe 6 tables with 4 chairs each. And of course, there's the bar. They also have a lot of TVs. It's good for small groups, but anything larger than a group of 6 might get cramped. read more

We tried their beer samplers letting the host decide on the picks. Some samplers were great. I highly recommend Bells Dahsman if you like lemon taste (like summer shandy). *Overall*: This is my favorite spot. It's a close walk from home, they have treats and water, umbrellas for shade, and everybody knows me. Top. Notch. Patio. Location 5/5: I'm lazy so of course it could be closer, but it's still only a couple-minute walk and gives me plenty of time to empty my system before settling down. Chairs 4.5/5: Perfect size for my cushion and no slats to get caught in, but I refuse to sit on that kind of wicker wiring. Love the slats on the back of the chair - perfect for resting my schnoz! Free stuff 5/5: Awesome, big treats mysteriously appear from inside, and other patrons share their treats too. Plus, sometimes they make popcorn and I eat it when people spill. They bring me water with ice too - that's yummy! Needs chicken. Ambiance 5/5: the planters get in my way and sometimes I find myself napping here. Sometimes too many other dogs crowd the patio and I bark at them. They have umbrellas are are sheltered from the afternoon shade by umbrellas so it's perfect for me. Also, everyone there knows me! I live in South Loop and I love this place. It's sort of our neighborhood bar. It is local and I recommend this place if you are meeting up with people and want a chill laid back environment. It's very comfortable inside and it's never packed, just the right amount of crowd. I ordered an old fashioned and they had a decent bourbon selection. They really excel at their beer selection. It's not top notch- but it's just the right amount of chill that makes this place a gem of a hangout. read more

I'm not usually one to spontaneously walk into a restaurant/fast food joint/bar/whatever by myself without at least doing a little research about the spot beforehand. Last night was a different story. Up in the South Loop area I was a bit thirsty after my dinner, and this little bar down on Dearborn called Kasey's Tavern caught my eye where I saw they had their chalkboard sign up by the front stoop that showed their $3 Hamm's Tallboys and $4 Great Lakes Burning River pale ales. I'm always one for a special or two, and trying out new beers is one of my favorite past times so I said, hey why the Hell not? Kasey's Tavern is everything a downtown bar should be: having the best of the best out there, for an affordable price. This bar had the largest selection of draft brews I've ever seen in a dive bar, and their bottle list was just as impressive. Tiny place, but loads of room at the bar to sit at and a good amount of tables as well. Pizza is served here, and bringing your own food is encouraged so don't come here too thirsty without being a lil hungry too. Loads of TVs around, as every bar should have it, and of course some friendly bartenders taking your orders. All bars downtown don't have to be swanky, be more like Kasey's. You'll get more customers that way. I know I'll be returning. read more

Glad to have stumbled upon this little gem. I have been coming here for years. It has an old time feel to this bar itself. although kaseys now has plenty of tv's and they take requests. Pizza's here are pretty good when drinking (i think its some kind of freezer pizza). the servers are very attentive and the bar tender are nice. i had a casual conversation with the owner and hes a very nice guy. i really like this place PS the popcorn here is awesome read more

Okay, so let me get a few things out of the way before I get to the most important factor of this review: 1. I don't spend nearly enough time in this area. I should work on that. 2. Small-ish bar, but didn't have issue finding a table. 3. The clientele appeared to be late 20's-40's. As an early 30-something, I appreciated this crowd. I didn't feel like the old lady shaking my fist and telling the kids to get off of my lawn, which tends to happen a lot when you live near Depaul. 4. Solid beer list. I had a flight to keep things interesting. 5. I have no idea where the pizza we ate came from but in that moment, it was delicious. 6. The waitress was friendly and given that the after 5 crowd had shown up, she was pretty quick with our orders. So now that I've covered that, on to the REAL reason I'm giving this place four stars: They played Pharcyde's "Passing Me By." Look, I can go to any bar in Wrigley and hear Bad and Bougie. Or Drake. Or whoever the rapper of the month is. But Pharcyde? Be still my hip hop loving heart. read more

Is it weird that my home bar isn't in my neighborhood? I mean, I work nearby and I have a friend in the neighborhood, but even if that wasn't true, I'm still pretty sure I'd trek down to the South Loop at least once a week to pop in. First off, that industry discount, which is $1 off each drink. Second, their draft selection is probably one of my favorites, with a healthy variety of local, craft, domestic, and imported brews. Which brings me to my third thing, their flights are $10 for 5 different beers, which is cheap as hell considering some of the flight prices at other bars around the city. But fourth, and most important, is that Shelby is probably one of my favorite bartenders in the city and has the ability to handle some ridiculous crowds without losing her cool. BFF & I were looking for something to whet the whistle & Kasey's Tavern was nearby Enter to see a nice, inviting, dark bar w/ tables along the sides - we were lucky enough to arrive just before the work crowds bombarded the place & were able to score one of their last tables Looking at the menu of their beer list was completely overwhelming - there are SO MANY microbrews & options that there was no way we could decide - and that's not even counting the seasonal specials listed on the blackboard behind the bar When the bartender came over, we tried to point to 3 different choices on their blackboard but they were no longer available.....so we gave up & asked for a recommendation. She asked a couple of qualifying questions to see where our beer tendencies lie & found the perfect drinky for us! $4 Unibroues on Wednesdays!?!! SOLD. Seriously, La Fin du Monde is my "desert island" beer. Meaning, if I had to choose one beer to drink for the rest of my natural life, this would be it... and Kasey's has it on special! Beyond Unibroue, Kasey's takes its beer seriously. The selection was quite impressive - both in bottles and on tap. Kasey's has the feel of a local pub - dark-wood tables, brass fixtures, and friendly service. While there are a lot of televisions above the bar tuned to various sporting events, the overall feel is a little classier than your average sports bar. read more

I was there for a late afternoon-to-late-evening-drinkfest; I really should have eaten dinner I think. Then I probably could have peppered this review with a lot more specificity. I seem to recall many people wearing Cubs/ Sox gear, as they had played earlier that day. Very friendly crowd. They have a lot of flat screen TVs that show various sports. I think they had outdoor seating as well. Unfortunately that's about all I can remember. But I will certainly be going back. read more
