My go-to for ordering takeout sushi in Stamford. It's always extremely fast (and typically accurate). The interior, however, leaves plenty to be desired -- just not my speed, personally. A little spicy and messy but delicious. We got the signature rolls which were very good but not as authentic as a traditional Japanese restaurant. Great first visit to Kashi. Appreciate their flexibility accommodating our group. Wasn't difficult at all to make a reservation for 7 during the week, and they seated us promptly upon arrival (even found a spot to stow away a luggage bag for a colleague who was traveling that day). Plenty of great food and beverage options. Luckily, we had a Sake sommelier in our group, so we had some informed opinions at the table. The menu is super pricy, and unfortunately the flavors don't justify the bill. We recently dined at Kashi Japanese in Stamford with a party of 12 and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. We made reservations in advance, but the restaurant assigned only one server to our very large table. While our server genuinely tried his best and was polite throughout the evening, he was clearly overwhelmed and was also handling multiple other large tables at the same time. Drinks took an extremely long time to arrive -- some didn't come until after dinner was already served. Even more frustrating, our entrees came out before the appetizers. Several food orders were incorrect or incomplete, and it was nearly impossible to get anyone's attention to fix mistakes or order additional drinks. The overall service felt very disorganized. The floors and tables were noticeably dirty, and there was no accommodation or space provided for our personal belongings, which made an already chaotic experience even more uncomfortable. It was clear that the server was not the issue -- management's staffing decisions were. A large party with reservations should be properly supported to ensure a smooth experience. Unfortunately, this was an overall awful dining experience, and we left very disappointed. read more

While looking for a late Saturday happy hour, the outside advertising of the special menu options caught our eye, so we decided to inquire & we were surprised when we also found out they also had happy hour going on at the bar. Walking in, the decor is modern, beautiful & the music matched the atmosphere. The purple lighting adds a hip club vibe. At the time, it wasn't busy but the patrons that were there, were enjoying themselves. My party of 3 sat at the bar & received some great drink recommendations from the attentive bartender. I had the sakitini, garnished with a large cucumber slice, that definitely left an impression. The smell & taste of the cucumber made it so refreshing. The special menu was a Connecticut Restaurant Week & I was going to pass up having 24 pieces of sashimi. My choices were the duck salad, foie gras toast & the imperial sashimi. Everything was beyond delicious! The presentation of all dishes were impeccable. After eating it all, I wanted to do it all over again. This is a good casual spot with very good food. Its much larger than most Japanese restaurants, and has booming ceilings. Its noisy with dim club-like lighting. They also pipe in crappy dance music (for some reason). That said, the food is surprisingly good - albeit the sushi pieces are on the smaller side. My wife and I started with soup (miso & seafood bisque) , and then the Champaign Sea Bass appetizer - both were excellent , and the Sea Bass could be a meal in and of itself. We then got an assortment of sushi and some rolls. It was fine. Ended the meal with some green tea ice cream. Stopped in for an early dinner today and it was so wonderful from the moment you entered the door - the service is impeccable you're met graciously by this wonderful hostess, and then we were seated just on the edge of being outside and everything from the water to the soup to the short ribs were just delicious. The food here is good as is the ambience.
