Went on Sunday around 5pm, it is a little hard to find. You don't see it from the street, you have to enter a driveway and the place is entered on the backside. The my Garmin GPS had the spot located a little shorter, I drove down a little farther down the street and found it. Got the Kasper dog and the chili cheese dog to go. $8. Love the steamed buns and the pop when you bite into the hot dog casing. Wish I had them on my side of the bay. I grew up on these in the East bay. read more

I brought my mom here today on our way back from the airport. This was her and my dads favorite spot to go to. Carmen and her daughter were so friendly. The ladies that works here are super friendly and nice. The hot dogs are good. It's a nostalgic place that's been here in CV for ever. I love the hot dogs here because they have a great snap to it and the toppings are always fresh. The buns are just buns nothing special about it. There's two Kasper's one with a 'K' and one with a 'C' -- Kasper's in my opinion is the better of the two in flavor. I've been eating Kasper's Hot Dogs since the 1960s at their original diner in Oakland. My dad makes sure I bring a dozen packaged hot dogs when I visit him, because they don't have a Kasper's in the Sacramento area. In my pocket was a crisp $50 that I won at work. I thought I'd treat myself to a fancy lunch. But the only thing I could think of having was a Krout Dog. The line was long the day i came in for lunch. There's lots of seating to eat in and there were lots of people sitting and enjoying lunch. As with almost every Kaspers Hotdogs, it's run by every cliche old lunch lady from high school. It's like they clone them and ship them in from all over the country. The ladies this day were slightly scatter brained and I witnessed them arguing about buns and things. When it's your turn at the counter they treat you like they missed you and you come in everyday. It's very personable. All in between themselves bickering about relish and buns. I love a good Krout Dog and this one was pretty good. Kaspers always has the best buns. Well, today free money doesn't always mean a splurge. It means enjoy yourself. read more

I try not to come to this Kaspers because CV is too racist for me but they take cc/debit cards so I come here if I have zero cash on me. I went the other day and orderd a cheese dog with light mustard, light mayo,light relish,katsup and sliced tomato and onion. For some reason, the young lady either didnt hear me or didn't care because she only put mustard and relish on my hot dog before wrapping it up. So I repeated what I wanted on there again. Even though I hate repeating myself (lol) I was nice about it; I gave her the benefit of the doubt. What annoyed me though, is she didn't even say "Oh sorry about that" she just put the stuff on there and rang me up. Maybe she was having a bad day or maybe she just had shitty customer service skills...either way, I plan on staying clear from this Kaspers and always have cash on me so I can go to the one in downtown Hayward area. read more

The cheese dog is haphazardly topped with cold shredded cheese that the server grabbed out of a plastic bucket with her bare hand. (No plastic gloves.) The cheese on a cheese dog should be hot and melted. Kasper's cheese dogs failed to meet minimum requirements. The dog itself was also slim and disappointing. That said, good potato salad. read more

PROS: * The ladies here are really nice to you once they get to know you. Awesome service with a smile. * Their hot dogs are pretty tasty. I've had better of course, but Kasper dogs will do just fine in a pinch. CONS: * Sort of expensive considering you're just getting hot dogs and not nutritious real food. * The bare hand treatment is a little sketch. I mean I'm hardcore, so it doesn't bother me that much (not to mention once you think about what that delicious hot dog is comprised of, but let's not go there!). Still, why not use tongs or latex gloves? Makes no sense, and yet strangely seems to be standard practice at other Kasper's locations as well. I'll give them 3 stars. read more

Kasper's has the best hot dogs... in the world. No joke. I grew up going to this little place with my Grandad and I have always loved it. The taste of a Kasper's hot dog is unbeatable and unlike any other kind of hot dog. I will cry if this place ever goes out of business. I have to admit, the 5 stars are a reflection of the hot dogs - and not the service. The ladies who work here are just a tad bit scary. They're friendly, but a little frightening. Don't know what I mean? Go see for yourself. At least you'll get an amazing hot dog out of it. I brought my boyfriend here for his first Kasper's a couple of months ago. Now we both crave the delicious hot dogs and have to go get one whenever we pass by. These things are delectably addicting!! Enjoy! :) read more

This place was better all around at one time, but lately the quality of the Hot Dog is inferior or just plain cheap in quality. The handling of food with bare hands is disturbing and so is the presence of non employees helping in performing chores in the kitchen area. There is a constant turn over of people that implies trouble in keeping workers. The old ladies argue in public too much for my taste. read more

I have been living in the Bay Area for 20+ years and today was my first time trying Kasper's. I stumbled upon this place after visiting the nearby dog park. Following covid guidelines I was warmly welcomed by the mother/daughter duo of Carmen and Tatiana. They made my 2 hots dogs in front of me and were so incredibly friendly and inviting. I ended up eating my hot dogs inside and chatted with Carmen who is so friendly. The hot dogs are HUGE so be hungry if you order two. I got the classic dog and the chili cheese. All delicious with an icey coke. What I really loved about this place is the people. It's been such a long time since I've visited an establishment where the staff hang out and talk to the customers and make it feel like a nice community. Just like I remembered from my childhood, Kasper's Hot Dogs is a good, tasty lunch treat. I ordered the kraut dog with everything: mustard, onion, tomato and relish. And the sauerkraut. I audibly heard me mutter "yum" as I munched on my dog. It was yummy. Amazing Customer Service! Honestly I went because my girlfriend was craving a polish dog and we were given what seemed like VIP treatment immediately. The truth is it was just great Customer Service. I work in the city and am always trying new food out, but unless the experience is horrible or phenomenal I usually dont bother with reviews. The beef hot dog was juicy and cooked perfectly as well. Decent dogs, good customer service, and EXTREMELY overpriced. You're looking at $10 for a dog, chips and a drink. I got 1 cheese dog and 1 chicken dog and it was almost $11...no drinks or sides, that's highway robbery for a hotdog. It would be worth it if you could get a hotdog and a drink for close to $5 out the door, but your at $6 for just the hotdog. read more

Our favorite hot dog spot! We often take the short trip there to get that classic Kaspar's flavor. Prices are fair and parking is easy.

I would usually give a good 3 stars for the hotdogs, but as for my most recent visit (five minutes ago) I can't even tell you what it tasted like because I left it on the counter. Judy was our server, and yes she's elderly and you can CLEARLY see she is in pain. The problem doesn't lie with Judy, but with Carmen. We arrived and Carmen was sitting at a table and immediately states she hasn't sat down all day and she could be with us in a moment. Judy offers to help, but is obviously very slow compared to other servers. The line begins to form to the back of the door while Carmen yells to Gina, I believe, to tell her to come help, all the while still sitting. Gina finished the customers behind us and Carmen tells Judy "see judy??? Gina is already done you're going to slow"... Carmen is also busy flirting with the gentlemen finishing up their transaction. She then looks at us and stated "sorry girls judy is just really slow" while making condescending facial expression at her. I was absolutely mortified. YES SHE IS SLOW, YES SHE IS QUIET.... But how dare someone show so much disrespect for their employee in front of a line of customers. I told her I am more concerned with the way she is talking toward her employees and said I would be leaving my food on the counter. Thanked Judy - and as we walked out Carmen yells "THATS FINE DONT EVER COME BACK" why would we want to???? read more

when i feel like cheating on my favorite casper's hot dog i will go to kasper's hot dog. when i feel like cheating on kasper's hot dog i will go to casper's hot dog. yes it sounds weird but there is both a casper's hot dog and a kasper's hot dog. this kasper's location is close to home and works in a pinch when i feel like being not so healthy. i can easily put two of these down topped with mustard, onions, tomatoes and relish. the dogs and buns are perfectly steamed to perfection and vegetable cut to order. there is usually only one older woman working behind the counter and she busts them out fast. she's dealing with each customers food and money but washing her hands before moving on. i love to see that! now i'm really craving a hot dog! hmmm, i think i'll get one from kasper's and one from casper's. got the entire scoop on the whole casper's vs kasper's hot dogs thing. they are family and over a riff back in the day they split and one changed a letter to do his own thing. these days while both are very popular and similar they are very different in deed. casper's is a beef hot dog with pork mixed in and kasper's in an all beef hot dog. i tend to find the kasper's a bit more on the spicy side yet still damn good. read more

Not sure why I continue to patronize this location, any of the locations for that matter. I am done as of today. The atmosphere at this one is ridiculous. The elderly lady Judy, needs to retire. I know she probably needs the job that is why she is still there, however, really, she needs to leave. She can't concentrate, she makes people wait. She blames others for her issues and makes sure that she tells them this. And whatever you do, do not suggest how to tote the food away from there, she will correct you on that and tell you how wrong you are. Today a few customers were quite annoyed as well as myself. One guy said he has a 1/2 hour lunch and spent 25 minutes of it waiting to get his order and pay for it. Something needs to be done. Then the young gal that works there putting the dogs together got mad because her mom called and yelled out why can't she call my dad..........really, not professional and just a little annoying. The dogs are good but not worth the crap. And the other lady that is there at times calls everyone babe, honey constantly. I am not your babe or honey nor is anyone else. The owner of this place has some work to do in order to keep this place going. I have come to the conclusion I need to bring lunch to work, it's more enjoyable, healthier and cheaper. read more

I've always have come here since i moved nearby in 5th grade, I even got my middle school gym teacher to take me and a couple friends here to get lunch, as i went to creekside.. They're hot dogs are amazing, and i can never get the same taste anywhere else. the women that work there, have pretty much been there since i can remember. I always get the cheese dog, i'm a pretty plain person when it comes to condiments, so i usually just get mayo and ketchup. They're dogs and buns are always fresh, and if it's not you'll able to see it and ask them for another one. Though i wish they would put more cheese on the dogs than what they do, cuz they've cut back a lot on it, and you hardly get any, and when you ask for extra, it's not even extra cheese, it's like a sprinkle and you get charged for the extra cheese that didn't even go on there. i think that's the only reason why I'm taking that 1 star away, the cheese! read more
