I was looking for a Pakistani spot around Pike Place and happened to stumble upon Kastoori Grill, so decided to give it a try. I ordered the chicken karahi and chicken dum biryani for pickup. Honestly, I was pretty disappointed. The portion sizes were quite small for the price, which already felt off. On top of that, both the curry and the biryani were extremely oily/ghee-heavy, to the point where it felt greasy and not very enjoyable to eat. Flavor-wise, it was just okay and not at all impressive . I ordered it spicy, but it still came out very mild. It felt like they just added some jalapeños on top, which didn't really add heat or depth. The staff member who handed over the order was friendly but overall the food just didn't feel worth the money. If you're South Asian and used to eating authentic karahi or biryani, you'll probably notice the difference right away. It's a great location, and I really hope they improve because the potential is there, but I personally wouldn't go back. read more

We went as group of 17. Used bathroom and sat down. Looked at the menu but most of us were not in agreement to eat there. So we started to leave. As we were leaving they asked for $85 service charge. We had to pay. That is fucking highway robbery. I can understand if there is fucking waiting line outside. This is normal. You can goto restaurant and leave. I would not recommend this at all. This is the only desi restaurant in all of seattle that has compared to the quality and taste of the home cooking I get from my own mother. From the biryani with a touch of jalapeño to the desi style sliders, every item I had tried is made with taste and very fresh. The orange chutney will having you grabbing naan after naan, which are also toasted to perfection, and not overly doughy. Shockingly, the manager/owner forced us to pay a $5 charge per person just for sitting down for 15 minutes. Went here for an October 2025 date night. We had been here prior a few times, but our first since the new management. My favorite sign that a restaurant is trying their absolute best to be great, is when the owner is the host, the server, and also working the kitchen line. He was very very nice and doing a great job. The interior still needs some work, but major upgrades since we last visited. We started with the paneer pakora, which was so so good. Nice and crispy outside, with really soft paneer inside. Comes with two yogurt based sauces, and we liked the mint one best. For the mains, we decided to share a few of their curry dishes. We went with their pindi choley which is a chickpea curry that was awesome and then the chicken korma. The korma was insanely good, chicken was super tender as well. We ate it with their garlic naan, the naan was slightly cripsy and super soft as well. Loved it. I wish the curry came with rice though. Came here by chance as most of the restaurants were already closed at 3PM. Came with teenagers who have never tried Pakistani or Indian food. We ordered the usual fare of vegetable pakora, garlic naan, chicken biryani and butter chicken. We were recommended to try their lamb bohti. Every dish was flavorful. I just found the butter chicken a bit sweet for my taste. But the lamb bohti was a revelation. The meat was tender and juicy. It was savory with just the right heat. The restaurant was casual with most tables seating 4. But they do have 2 long tables for big groups such as ours. The wait staff was very attentive and helpful. The spot has new owners and yesterday they accommodated a party of 31. With prior notice, of course. The food tasted like your home cooking growing up in a Pakistani household. We had the mix grill which had super tender and flavorful meat items. The palak gosht was lick your finger good. Chicken biryani was excellent. The chicken tikka was a Pakistani style butter chicken and the flavors just exploded in your mouth. The naan was fresh. The kids enjoyed the chicken chow mein and the chicken tenders and fries. Overall, an excellent experience. I think the fam has decided we are replacing our other go to's with kastoori grill now. The space is ample. My friend and I were walking around after a shift at work and we were absolutely starving, we walked around from Westlake's ASEAN street and all around the waterfront and we looked at so many menus and ratings but our decision was so easy when the aroma from this place drew us in like pie from a windowsill. The prices are very good considering it's right by Post Alley and my friend and I have been to multiple places that serve similar foods but this place is the true hero. The service wasn't overbearing in any way yet they made sure to check in on us enough times. I would recommend this place to anybody who wants some greatly priced, delicious and authentic cuisine. I will say that the portion sizes are off putting at first but the food was so filling and they know exactly what they're doing, so trust the process! You won't regret eating here at all. Stumbled upon this home in the wall Indian grill on my trip to Seattle. The food is awesome. You have lots of flavorful, spicy, rich dishes from curries to freshly made naan. The veggies were not overcooked nor were the proteins in the buffet area. The gulab jamun was mid. It's served cold and sitting in cold syrup. Very interesting and not good considering I've only had gulab jamun served hot. Just stopped by yesterday (6/30/25) for some takeout on my way back to the office from the Market. They're under new ownership; I chatted for a minute with the new owner and was told the tikka masala I ordered is a new recipe. He also asked that I let him know my thoughts. Since I may not be back in there for a while, I hope he'll catch it here. I will say that the tikka masala was excellent. Very flavorful and I enjoyed it thoroughly. The chicken was quite tender, too. The only thing I might complain about is that I was told the meal came with a salad, but I didn't get one :(. Still, I was quite happy to have plenty leftover for lunch today. I'm guessing they may be renovating as well. While I didn't walk into the restaurant but waited near the entrance for my to-go order, it did look a bit disorderly from where I stood. I'd never been here under the old ownership, but the new folks are at the top of their game, avoiding pre-made sauces in favor of homemade everything. The fried onions on top of the biryani were crispy and fresh, the tandoori chicken was as tender inside as any I've tasted, and the spinach dish (whose name I've forgotten) had a complex, rich flavor with just the right kick of green chilies.
