It had been some years that we had been here. It was pleasant to see the upgraded interior with fresh paint and new lamps, a much nicer atmosphere. The music was just right in the background. We ordered a fried tofu appetizer to share and we were happy we did because it was very tasty and a good amount for sharing! I don't think I would recommend the sushi. The rice was super thick, and the two specialty rolls I had were just alright. The tuna hand roll was tasty, just a little bit of a bear to eat. On the menu, it seemed that the vast majority of the sushi was cooked or fried (tempura). I don't know, I think the other entrees were probably better. I'll try it again some time. We arrived at 6 p.m. with plenty of seating available. Our server was pleasant and efficient, but really just did the bare minimum of serving without much personal interaction. He took our drink and food orders. There are no draft beers available; bottled beers only with domestics being $4 each. Meals came out to the table about 20 minutes after ordering. Let me start out by saying that no one in our party had the sushi tonight, but rather opted for the dinner entrees. Entrees included the shrimp teriyaki with steamed white rice, steak teriyaki with steamed white rice, the fried rice special, and the steak with fried rice. For a $1.00 more you can opt for a small bowl of miso soup OR small salad with ginger sauce. All of the meals came out hot and at were served at the same time. The fried rice special was a bit disappointing as it came with only 2 shrimp, 4 pieces of calamari, along with small amounts of chicken and pork. It was pointed out to the server that the dish only came out with 2 shrimp, and he just responded by saying "yes, but you have calamari, pork, and chicken, too." For the price of this entree, more shrimp was expected to be included on the plate. The taste of the entrees was okay, but not overly impressive. The atmosphere was quiet and the temperature comfortable. Some folks have rated this venue higher, and maybe the sushi is better than the meal entrees, so I cannot speak for the sushi rolls. I had hoped for a better experience, but the rating of a 3 is adequate for the quality of the food, the overall dining experience, and the service which were all just very average at best. read more

Overall a good experience. The service was very good with good food and a good atmosphere. I ordered the curry duck. My friend ordered the pad si ew noodles. For apps we ordered the curry puffs, Vietnamese crispy rolls. I also ordered the Tom ka soup. My friend got the noodles and she likes spicy but it wasn't spicy enough for her. The soup was fantastic and we enjoyed the Vietnamese crispy rolls. The curry puffs were underwhelming. The curry duck was good but to be honest it's not the best Thai curry I've had in the city. Amazing Asian restaurant. Ordered the shashimi combo dinner which included 9 pieces of THICK shashimi, 4 pieces of sushi, a tuna roll, a seaweed salad with more tuna on top, a very generous portion of steak teriyaki ( a meal in itself) a bowl of white rice and a side salad for $25!!! The service was excellent and the food was great. They have a full bar and a very wide selection on the menu. They also have take-out and delivery available. Honestly kata is a go to for me when I am in the area, the seating is very nice and the decorations in the restaurant are just beautiful. The place is fairly quiet and enjoyable. The Waiters are very polite and nice. The food here is very good and the main difference of kata to the other Thai restaurants are the selections of soups. The Ramen, pho, soup variety is like no other in fort Pierce. Regardless just about everything on the menu Is delicious and I really love kata. Miserable service. The owner decided not to send one of our meals with our order but neglected to tell us until we got it home. She lied multiple times, blaming the mixup on the driver and then on grubhub, but then admitting she had the order sitting there waiting to be sent. She refused to offer us any options in the way of delivery, and expected us to pay for the meal again before we could pick it up. Absolutely horrendous. Also, when we received our order, one of our meals was wrong. We asked them to send it without onions due to a serious dietary restriction, but they sent it along with onions. I've been here a few times now. Each time, the food is great - I normally get the fried rice bowl (either steak or chicken). I love how the fried rice bowl has a bit of a sweet flavoring, and includes onions, fried egg pieces, broccoli and carrots. The service is great and the atmosphere is decent. This place is a Vero Beach staple. It is right downtown and there is plenty of parking. When you walk in its not too unique but there are some fun things to look at. We went here with family so we decided to order a few plates and share them all. The Panang curry was VERY good. We also chose a few sushi rolls and they brought them all at once which was cool because we could all share off the same plate and it was so pretty - the colors were beautiful. I also really loved the spicy Thai noodles. They weren't too spicy and it comes with a meat - we got chicken. There were big mushrooms in that dish so if you like those this is a good one but if not they are easy to pick out. At the end of the meal all the plates were empty, all the belly's were full and all the faces had smiles. The drinks were reasonable priced at $7 for wine $4-5 for beer. I didn't see any cocktails but there is a bar connected to the restaurant so sure there are good cocktails. read more

Something has happened since we were last there. The quality of food was not good. I had to spit out my first bite of duck. It was way overcooked, dry and the skin was rubber. The "sauce" was watered down soy sauce and sugar. It used to be a rich, brown sauce. Whoever is cooking has no care. I sent back the first duck, and they still served overcooked duck the second time. Obviously it's pre-cooked. This used to be my favorite treat. It was $33 per person with sodas, and we were disappointed that our Christmas dinner was ruined. My husband had volcano shrimp and they were overcooked and BLAND. Asian food should not be bland and boring with a watery sauce The server was apologetic, but NOT ONE APOLOGY FOR BAD FOOD FROM MANAGEMENT and of course no discount. Never again!! So, you need to begin by understanding two things about me: I am a major sushi addict, and I place high value on service. Because of the pandemic, we are not eating out right now-- but we did order some delivery from Kata on a recent trip to visit my mum in Vero. The Thai was delicious: everything from the satay for Mom to my vegetarian friend's tofu Pad Thai to the shumai dumplings. The sushi was good-- tasty. It didn't blow anyone's doors off, but it was a treat nonetheless; and we all enjoyed eating a good meal of good food and a night off from cooking. So, why the 5 stars, you might ask? Because when the restaurant called to inform me that the driver had left without the spicy cucumber special, I tried to text him and ask him to return for it. He refused. The restaurant called back to ask how they could make it right: offer me a credit for a future visit, credit my card, what? I explained that we were leaving the next day, and I did not say how disappointed I was (given that it was my meal that had been left behind) but just said that mistakes happened and thanked them for trying. Imagine my surprise when they called again a few minutes later to explain that they would deliver the item themselves, at no charge, because they wanted to make sure that we received and enjoyed our meal! So, yes- shumai and pad thai and sushi, oh my... and all that jazz. But, at the end of the day (literally and figuratively), when you are willing to go that far out of the way (again, lit and fig) to ensure a delightful dinner for your customers?
