I really enjoyed my massage. Kate is definitely a very talented massage therapist and her work on my shoulders and back was especially amazing. She also responded to my emails very quickly and was able to book an appointment for me much sooner than I had expected. Her office is in some sort of office suite in an apartment complex which made it rather difficult to locate from the street. Also, you have to be buzzed in to enter the suite. It appears that the professionals in the suite do not employ a receptionist (there is no front desk) and that they just buzz in clients in between their appointments. I thought this was rather inconvenient because I arrived about 20 minutes early and had to wait outside in the rain because no one responded to my buzz (I assume Kate was with another client). I would definitely give Kate five stars on the massage, but I am not sure I'd return because of the office set up. I'd prefer to go to a spa or someplace with a reception area where I can relax a bit before the massage. read more

After sustaining a whiplash injury and going through over a year of physical therapy, chiropractic adjustments, biofeedback, home exercises, and pain management clinics, I came to Kate. Her massages have honestly been the only thing that have relieved my pain. Her rates are a bit higher than chain or group massage practices, but, as a poor grad student-- trust me, it is completely worth the investment!! Kate is incredibly calm, professional, consistent. I really can't speak highly enough of her. She is fantastic, and the way in which she will massage you will amaze you. She is able to follow the ligaments with the tips of her fingers to the source of the pain and either massage it gently or use trigger point techniques to relieve the pain and/or tension. I love the lavender oil that she uses. It leaves a nice smell for the rest of the day. You can also ask for an unscented oil. The bed she has is very warm (it warms up as time goes on-- a nice touch!), and the music is varied-- from yoga-ish chants to Enya to classical. Kate's practice seems to have grown tremendously the last few months, so her schedule is tight, which I would say is the only downside. If you have a busy schedule like mine, it can be difficult to book a weekly appointment with her (if you need it for theraputic purposes). However, Kate is more than willing to try to book weekly appointments in advance or call you if there are cancellations. Bottom line: she is the best masseuse in Boston. Period. She is so good. I hold a lot of my tension in my shoulders, so much that I feel like my arms don't hang well off of my shoulders; there's always a lot of clicking/crunching when I move my arms. I've only been to Kate twice, but both times she was able to get my knots out without using too much pressure and afterwards there was no clicking and my neck and shoulders feel so free!! It's true that Kate is the best! It's true that she "sees" with her fingers. And, she is the dearest, sweetest, most loving person as she looks straight at you, welcoming you to her calm, soft green haven. I discovered her years ago when I was crippled and paralyzed from compromised liver/kidney (brought on by 10-20 years exposure to stress and pollution ~ who doesn't have that?). It was a serious condition: I could barely dress myself and it was excruciatingly painful to roll over in bed. Along with homeopathy, acupuncture, chiropractic, Kate came through with deep tissue massage (lots of appointments at the beginning gradually tapering off to once a month maintenance) that saved the day and flushed out the muscles where all those toxins were being stored. We didn't know if we were going to get through that one, none of us. But, Kate is a miracle worker. So, for serious medical conditions to just the joy of a massage, hats off to Kate. I needed a good, local massage therapist and my daughter found Kate through her very positive Yelp reviews! I go to Kate every month as I have had two spinal fusions and have found that she helps relieve some of the pain I still have. Kate has a very nice and calm approach and her technique is amazing! She knows just exactly where the problem area is and she can work the pain out! While I will admit, that it hurts a bit at times, it has all been very beneficial to me. Kate takes away so much pain. I know that when a particularly problematic area pops up, before my next monthly appointment, that I can try to get an additional appointment with her to relieve the pain. That alone, brings me great comfort. She is very busy (because she is that good!) but really willing to work with your schedule. I am very grateful that Kate is a part of my "medical team"!!
