They had great recommendations and our order was up quickly. Tried the hazelnut, semi sweet, and cardamom rose. Really enjoyed it! The marshmallows are also house made and were delish! Tried the truffle of the week, Baileys and they also had a line of brewery inspired flavors, so I tried the Clementine Cider. One also random star of the show is the well stocked washroom! I opted to try the goat cheese walnut dark chocolate while they prepared my drinking chocolate. My candy was delicious and goat cheese pair well with the chocolate. For my drinking chocolate, I got the Koval Bourbon Drinking Chocolate with Salted Caramel Marshmallow. It was fantastic and a nice warm up to frigid temperatures outside. They always have fun seasonal truffles and marshmallows. The cranberry marshmallows are particularly tasty. Really cute spot in Logan Square area. It has about 16 seats total in the cafe with tables that seat 2-4 and couches as well. The drinking chocolate costs $7 for 8 oz which is a bit pricey, but it's really decadent and full of flavor. Plus it comes with one of their home made marshmallows. I got the bitter sweet with a salted caramel marshmellow. The chocolate flight is definitely worth it, you get 3 hot chocolates to try for $13. They also sell truffles and drinking mixes of their hot chocolate. I'll definitely be back if it's in the middle of winter and I'm craving a warm, chocolate drink. This is a cool little spot that is really quiet if you're looking for something sweet while you're working or need some 'alone' time! ;) I did get the bittersweet chocolate (drink) which was not at thick as I thought but still very rich and thankfully not more sweet than it was otherwise it'd be too overwhelming. I was debating going completely dark but, after having this one, I'm wondering if that would be a little too bitter for me. 2 hot chocolates and 1 marshmallow for $16. The prices have gone up and they haven't even bothered to change them on the sign that's outside. The woman making our drinks was touching everything in the kitchen, including putting her fingers in her ears to itch it with no gloves. She then decided to put all of her fingers in our cups before serving the drinks to us. I ordered a peanut butter hot chocolate and a hazelnut hot chocolate. The hazelnut one was so salty it tasted like I was drinking yogurt, and the peanut butter one was too bitter because she torched it for way too long. I would not care if the prices were not so high but for the price you would expect not only the best hot chocolate but at least some type of sanitary. Don't try everything that goes viral. read more

Drinking their lavender hot chocolate on a summers' day was like submerging my whole being in an herb garden. And when I returned to try a flight, the basil had the same effect - just in a DIFFERENT herb garden. The salted caramel was like diving headfirst into the center of one of those Ben & Jerry's ice creams where the core is solid caramel, and the hazelnut was reminiscent of those shame-spiral Nutella-eating-off-a-spoon days. Now if you have never been the hot chocolate that is "Chicago Style" is pure thick chocolate drink, and it will be a rich type of sweet just to let you know (I missed this signage, so I didn't know). You can get it "Hot Cocoa" style, if you don't want it that thick. I tried Mexican hot chocolate (had a cinnamon marshmallow), hazelnut (sweet side), and bittersweet (more my speed). Probably my favorite chocolate place in the city! It's such a lovely shop - I feel like I get their full attention every time I'm here. People who work here genuinely care for their customers and they always give honest and useful advice on the orders. I've been here twice with my family and tried their flight of any 3 ($9) with different combinations of flavors. Their drinking chocolate were so rich and flavors were intense. They can also have a number of vegan options which I believe that use different ganache. The flights were paired with marshmallows of various flavors. This is a tiny spot - on a gloomy Saturday afternoon we had to wait for a table, which was totally worth it. The ganaches and caramels were so good, as was the drinking chocolate. I first discovered Katherine Anne several years ago for their amazing salted caramel marshmallows, after learning they usually use honey instead of corn syrup in their recipes. Then I kind of moved along. Then recently I became interested in hot chocolate and Katherine Anne came up in my searches. I've tried the yummy salted caramel/hazelnut/FEW bourbon hot chocolate, and most of the "primary" hot chocolate flavors, all have been rich and satisfying and I appreciate the complimentary choice of homemade marshmallow. I also tried a few of the truffles recently and was impressed by the subtle flavors and generous size of the truffles. For some reason a lot of local and "fine" chocolate makers seem to attempt to miniaturize their candies but Katherine Anne proudly offers almost-two-bite size chocolates. I like the use of white chocolate (which I still consider "real" chocolate unlike chocolate snobs) in a few of their flavors including the lemon poppyseed. The only change I would prefer is if they had some small tongs to utilize when placing the truffles you select into a bag, instead of their bare fingers. Other than that, I think I will probably start giving a box of Katherine Anne truffles and their salted caramel marshmallows as gifts starting soon! read more

Whatever your problems are will soon be forgotten once you lose yourself in the rich drinking chocolate served up by smiling faces in a quaint space. The only downside to this place is that there are only a handful of seats inside. But hey, silver lining right? None of us can dine-in right now anyway. Their truffles and caramels are good, but it's their hot chocolate or drinking chocolate that is truly driving this five-star rating. This is not that watery hot chocolate or even the creamy hot chocolate made with milk, this is drinking chocolate - buttery, thick and rich, with a consistency closer to melted chocolate than hot milk. It is roll-your-eyes-back-in-your-head-and-moan-out-loud good. If you are a chocoholic, this is your heaven. The first time you go, you should absolutely get a tasting flight of the drinking chocolates so that you can try the exotic and seasonal blends. They have at least 12 different drinking chocolate flavors on the menu at any given time - a mix of classic traditional chocolate flavors at varying "intensity" levels, a batch of seasonals, and always some vegan options. Each one comes topped with a different flavored marshmallow (also made in house) and sometimes a small garnish. While the seasonals are exciting, for me, it is their bittersweet hot chocolate that is the rock star. This is the flavor that is *my* ultimate chocoholic indulgence. We've never had problems finding a street parking space out front. The storefront is also only a couple of blocks from the 606, so it's easy to go for a scenic walk afterwards to burn off some of those self-care calories. read more
