I probably don't need another fantastic place to get dessert foods, but somehow, here we are. I promised to try it, even though I had never had Ecuadorian ice cream and had low expectations. It turns out I was so, so wrong. The ice cream here is so creamy and smooth. The flavors are not only interesting and different, they taste wonderful. Get that soursop ice cream. I know. You're scared. You're hesitant. Just get it. Have them add the blackberry syrup. You're welcome. Also try the morocho flavor, which is like a frozen cinnamon corn custard. And yes. Add the cheese. I am serious here. Add the cheese. Don't question it. Just follow their suggestions and sample a few options and you can't go wrong. Bonus that the service is helpful and patient. Extra bonus that it's a cute comfortable place to sit and ingest a thousand or so calories. Get there soon. I was a fool to wait this long. read more

Angel makes delicious homemade ice cream with very unique flavors like rum raisin, rum passion, tango, coconut and many more) and fun toppings. He definitely brings his Ecuadorian flavor to his ice cream. You can try the flavors and Angel is happy to accommodate you. Cute little shop. And try the fresh farm cheese with the ice cream, I know it sounds weird, but just try it the real Ecuadorian way. You won't regret stopping here! read more

They don't just serve ice cream; they craft edible masterpieces tailored to your taste buds. Whether you want something fruity, chocolatey, or totally out-of-the-box, their team is full of suggestions and truly goes above and beyond to make sure every scoop is perfect. What really impressed me was how imaginative their flavors and toppings are. I got a custom creation that combined ingredients I'd never even thought of pairing, and it blew my mind! The flavors that I had were tomato tree, Mamey and Morocho. My girlfriend had little orange, passionfruit and tomato tree as well. Topped with whipped cream and cheese (it was unlike anything I have ever eaten), I couldn't believe how well everything blended together. We shook our heads in amazement with every bite. Nubes offers unique flavors that are all amazing! The owner was incredibly kind and knowledgeable. He told us about all of the Ecuadorian fruits they use and how they make the ice cream by hand. Not only is the ice cream delicious, but the service was incredible. Truly a shop that really cares about their product. All of their fruit is imported from Ecuador and I was able to try ice cream flavors I have never had anywhere else! I really enjoyed this place and want to go back as I didn't add cheese to my ice cream. I'm intrigued with the idea. What I didn't know is that this place is Ecuadorean. I went with their fruit options with Mamey being the winner for me. I really liked this flavor a lot. I did try the girls' chocolate and bubble gum and both were very good. My wife had the affogato and also super good. read more

Super delicious ice creams in flavors you won't find anywhere else in Chicago. There were fruit flavors I hadn't even heard of. And when I asked, the man behind the counter showed me the whole fruit they had in back! I only tried two flavors; Lucuma and Soursop (aka guanabana) and they were both so delicious. I will be back to try more flavors and more Soursop! read more

The service was super friendly and kind. My friends and I asked for so many samples to try and she was so nice!! The ice cream itself is insanely creamy with the perfect amount of sweetness. I was feeling chocolately this day so I got the cookies and cream flavor and it had a bunch of cookies which is the best part!! It was pretty pricy ($7) for the one small scoop I got but glad I tried it out. read more

I've been meaning to stop by here since they've opened and finally got the chance to with my partner on a warm Saturday afternoon. The store is run by an Ecuadorian-owned family who are extremely sweet and helpful. They took care of us and really wanted us to try to ice cream with cheese on top which seems to be an Ecuadorian speciality. We declined as we are lactose-intolerant and didn't have our lactaid pills with us. I ordered the Maracuya ice cream even though it has dairy, but was willing to sacrifice given that it's not easy finding these type of ice cream flavors in Uptown, let alone in Chicago or North America in general. They had Lulo, Naranjilla, Guanabana, etc which really brings me back to Colombia at heart. All together, this place puts out some really tasty ice cream. There's also coffee and other beverages available... and if you're wanting to sit here, there is also several places to sit! Would absolutely return. i've never had cheese on my ice cream and it was surprisingly SO delicious that this is something i need to try moving forward. it was like savory ice cream, so good, and the texture of the cheese practically melted in your mouth with the creamy ice cream. the service was great, the staff was super friendly and accommodating to us trying multiple of their unique flavors. would definitely come back here! read more

My friend and I discovered Nubes during our walk to Target, and it was definitely worth the stop. The staff was very friendly and attentive from the moment we walked in, allowing us to sample different flavors and educating us about each of their rich Ecuadorian flavors. After much thought, we decided to share a three-scoop ice cream topped with cheese and a cherry, named "The Ship Of Memories," which allowed us to try the guava, mango, and passion fruit. I highly recommend any of these flavors, but the creamy passion fruit mixed with the cheese was a match made in heaven for me. Although I was skeptical at first, I ended up enjoying the addition of the cheese, and am now convinced everyone should visit Nubes Ice Cream at least once! Cute spot! Flavors are very different and not too sweet. They let you try samples. There's about 2 tables if you want to sit down. My kids had the cookies and cream and even when I tried it, it's better than the American versions. I tried the passion fruit which was a little more on the sweeter side and the morocho, it was delicious! Wish they had this in the suburbs. read more

really fun flavors, honestly too many that it's difficult to choose and you end up having to get a huge ice cream. small = 1 scoop, medium 2, etc. tried a bunch before deciding - all were delicious, but ended up with passionfruit and mamey (other favorites were soursop and cheesecake). topped it with whipped cream and cheese but that was a bit over the top (still delicious). Would definitely return if nearby and needing ice cream. The ice cream was silky and smooth, great texture. read more

Excellent flavorful ice cream, made at the shop. Nube's does not overly sweeten the ice cream (unlike many other ice cream makers and factories do). The "cappucino" ice cream is especially wonderful; the owner told us that he uses organic Columbian beans for both his coffee and his coffee ice cream. Several days ago, we stumbled on Nube's "hole in the wall" sit-down & take-out shop when looking to energize ourselves for our bike ride home, after attending a meeting at the nearby Uptown Branch library. Nube's was an exceptionally pleasant surprise - as good as eastern-Massachussets ice cream stands. (Boston's JP Licks is my personal "gold standard"). IMO, the only other Chicagoland ice cream that matches Nube's is Peterson's in Oak Park. read more

The owners are so welcoming and kind. They were great to show us all the flavors and how they make their famous ice cream with cheese on top. I don't know how much the cheese is delicious with the ice cream. The flavors of the ice cream are delicious. They include flavors not very commonly found such as Ecuadorian blackberry, passion fruit, and tomate de árbol. Highly recommend it. Prices are very accesible. great for sharing as well. Nubes was absolutely incredible from start to finish. My boyfriend & I had been recommended this place by a friend & finally got a chance to pop in after dinner on Friday night. We love ice cream & expected this to be a run of the mill ice cream shop. We couldn't have been more wrong. When we got in, the worker behind the counter asked us if it was our first time. We said yes & he went through a very detailed explanation of the shop & the ice cream flavors that they offer. The short of it is that they offer standard flavors like cookies & cream, vanilla, etc., but also interesting flavors using fresh Ecuadorian fruit that he makes in-house. He was actually the owner, he taught us about each of the unique flavors, and let us sample everything. These ice creams were like nothing we'd ever tasted - fresh & absolutely delicious. We were blown away by the entire situation. We each ordered 3 scoops of the Ecuadorian ice cream - I got Tomato Tree, Little Orange, and Passion Fruit, my boyfriend got Tomato Tree, Mamey, and Morocho. The ice cream gets topped with whipped cream, grated cheese (trust me, it's mild and enhances the entire texture experience & flavor profile), and fruit syrups. We ate in the shop & while we were enjoying our ice cream, he brought us yuca bread (also made in house & very delicious) to try. I truly couldn't recommend this shop more. It was an amazing experience. The ice cream is unbelievably good & unique & the owners couldn't be more kind & passionate. We'll be frequenting this hole in the wall. Truly a gem! read more

I think the Ube is the best Ubisoft server ever had in my life as it's not overly sweet, but is incredibly creamy and rich meaning they probably made it with whole milk. My only downside like others is the price. Paying around $19-$20 for a small cheesecake felt a bit steep, especially since they don't offer slices. I really wish they had smaller portions available so you could try different flavors without committing to a full cake prize. They package it very well and they also serve you a cute little fork set and a knife for cutting which I think is contributes to the price. The shop itself is very cute with chic décor and a lot of Asian-inspired artwork, which adds to the overall vibe. Customer service was friendly.
