Good tasting food, affordable prices, and the nicest staff and service! Came here today before 6PM, and the place wasn't busy. We were the only customers when we entered. Thought I'd check them out based on the positive reviews on Yelp. Got a regular hamburger, really good size for only $3 something, was a tiny bit salty. But over-all good. The chicken souvlaki is a must-try, as the portions are huge and the chicken is really tasty! One thing that's worth mentioning is the quality of their fries. The fries are not salty at all. Really tasty, and the gravy is good!! The owners/staff are all nice - and when we forgot to order a side of gravy after paying, they just added one to our order with no extra cost. This is a very popular spot for getting your Greek on! There are some tables and chairs as well as seating alongside the front window. Kathy is always friendly, even when she's busy processing a large number of take-out orders. The Chicken Souvlaki dinner ($11.45) is quite consistent. The chicken is well marinated and moist, and the potatoes/fries, salad and tzatziki sauce are tasty. Parking is limited, but the prices are reasonable. read more

Was around the area looking for a dinner spot and saw this place across the street. From the outside, the restaurant is quite mundane and just from the exterior I probably would not have tried it out. But I checked out some yelp reviews and it had such a high rating I had to give it a try myself and I am so glad I did! The restaurant is quite small and very clean. There are about 4-5 tables on the side and some seating at the window. I got the chicken souvlaki dinner and my friend got the hamburger and poutine. The chicken dinner comes with salad and sides (rice or potatoes or both). The chicken was so juicy and soooo delicious!! The portions are quite large and it was definitely worth the price. I came at around 7pm on a Saturday and the seats very quickly filled up. The lady who took my order, was so nice and worked very quickly. She remembers your order and calls you when its ready even when you're sitting at your seat. We stopped by today to give Kathy's a try and we were pleasantly surprised by the delicious fresh food, large portion sizes and crunchy fries that came with our meal. I also ordered the baklava, like advertised you can taste the difference between this baklava and one that was machine made, it was so flavourful and delicious, the pastry was sweet and buttery with a nutty cinnamon filling, I would definitely recommend that you check this place out! The "Opening Soon" signs alluded me every time I stopped by my local Starbucks, wondering what this new restaurant would be like. Coming back from vacation and seeing it now open meant it was time to check out this new addition to the neighbourhood. We walked in and were greeted by a lady (who I presume was Kathy) and noticed some familiar faces from Harry's Drive-In (who I haven't seen there in so long) behind the counter. According to some Google reviews, it looks like Harry's Drive-In is being run under new management and it looks like the former employees have opened up shop down the road. The menu and pricing looked familiar too, with the burgers, souvlaki, and even their poutine made with cheddar cheese. They only had seating along the window with the high chairs, but they mentioned that they were still in process of getting more furniture for additional seating. Also, the outside area looks like it could accommodate for outdoor seating, but we will have to wait for the warm weather to see if it comes into fruition. I ordered the Gyros Dinner while my mother ordered the Pork Souvlaki Dinner. In addition to the salad, we were given a choice between fries or rice. For $10.50 each, we were given a FULL take-out container of fries/rice and salad, along with our meat; five slices of gyros for me and a skewer of pork souvlaki for my mom. The meat was moist and flavourful and with the sides it came with, it was more than enough for one meal and you could easily save the other half for later. Unfortunately, they don't have the advantage of being located in the plaza or by the elementary and high school which I am sure drives business to Harry's. We went around the lunch hour and it wasn't too busy. Other than my mom and I, there was one student who stopped by and a construction worker who drove in and placed a big order. To my surprise, the Starbucks next door has been doing well so hopefully Kathy's is able to achieve the same traffic as the Starbucks and become a permanent staple to the neighbourhood! read more

I've driven by this place so many times but never noticed it, finally I saw it last week and I had to look it up on Yelp. The photos looked good, menu looked affordable and reviews were good so I decided I must go. And not disappointed at all! Wow the poutine was amazing for the price. So much cheese and gravy! And the Gyro on a Pita was also delicious. I ordered it by accident because I forgot it's not chicken by default. So it came with lamb and I was like oh no what did I order... but it ended up being even more delicious than the last gyro I've had on Danforth. To top it off, the staff was very nice. I had passed Kathy's Grill many times while on the Kennedy 43 bus, so decided to look it up on Yelp not long ago. With many good reviews, I stopped in one evening for their hot hamburger plate that I saw listed in one of the photos. It seems like most of the customers order for take-out, but I decided to eat in. There is a small eating area at the side with about a half-dozen small tables, and 2 eating counters at the front. Even for eating-in, the food comes in a foam container with plastic cutlery. The hot hamburger plate is an open-faced sandwich with fries and gravy and a can of pop. There were no vegetables on the side which most such plates have, but there were a lot of fries and gravy, and everything was very good. The cost was $10. I have since returned a second time, and ordered the fish and chips for take-out this time. Similarly, there was no coleslaw on the side, but lots of fries and a big piece of fish. Again it was very good, costing $8.50 (no pop). Both orders were ready in about 5-6min. Overall, good food and pretty friendly service from everyone I dealt with. read more

The prices are good. The portion given is generous. I've had the chicken souvlaki dinner with fries and a side of gravy (as well as the potatoes and rice in later visits). The chicken was nice and tender. The fries were perfectly crispy. The Greek salad was one of the best I've had. The gravy though, yeah, it was just out of this world, great. I'd go back just for the gravy. The rice there is really good as well. You really can't go wrong choosing between the fries, rice or potatoes. If you like gravy though, fries are the way to go with the rice a close second. The staff there are friendly and gracious. read more

Overall really good food and prices, with the following notes: Gyros - not carved from a meat log, it's factory slices on the grill - overcooked, thin and dry, save your money. Tzatziki - not great at all, bland and no garlic, basically sour cream / yogourt - I ordered an extra cup, didn't get eaten. Also cups underfilled, check your order to be sure you got enough. Counter ordering, service and overall kitchen flow was excellent. We'll go again and keep trying other dishes, overall seems a good place. read more

How'd ya like some coronavirus sprinkled on your takeout, from the unmasked nose of the cook? As I waited for my food today, I got a sinking feeling when I saw the cook @kathysgrill was not wearing his mask properly. I mentioned it to Kathy & her daughter. They promptly called out to the cook. Then excuses about "so hot" and "he's got a heart condition" were mumbled. The cook looked around and shot me a nasty look. The cook was an older man and clearly overweight. It's funny how some people who seem most at risk of getting really sick, or dying, of COVID-19 want to tempt fate. From start to finish, Kathy's Grill is an experience that will have you coming back! The cashier, who I assume is Kathy, runs an extremely-efficient shift with her employees with a smile. There are many eats on a dime that delivers in both flavour and volume. The chefs cook the meat on what seems to be a chain flail, which was a first for me. While it's not a high-octane rollercoaster, it's definitely different from your usual joint in the area. Definitely worth a try! read more

A great place for burgers and souvlaki, although the portion sizes are small and offer very little flexibility. For example, offer customers a variety of sides with each dinner meal -- protein, plus a small portion of rice, salad AND fries and you'll keep customers pretty happy. How I wish that salad had other green options such as spinach and kale as opposed to just using lettuce. Tried the poutine with feta cheese and was super salty possibly due to the feta. So here it is....for FRESHNESS, great VALUE, excellent SERVICE, awesome TASTE I highly recommend Kathy's. The chicken souvlaki is always tender and moist, and their fries are crispy, not overkilled with salt and NOT greasy at all and tons of salad! Friends also love the gyro dinner. Have also tried the fish on the bun which was fine but the souvlaki is my go to. They are a super nice family/owners and I like supporting local businesses. I want to preface by saying I don't normally make reviews but I felt particularly compelled to do so based on my experience. I have eaten here on four different occasions. The food is overall great for the price. Chicken souvlaki dinner and the hamburger taste really good. Overall in terms of price and taste I would say it's at a 4/5 stars. When it comes to service, this makes or breaks it for me. I would say overall the women that work there are very polite or charismatic (especially one of the ladies who works the cash register, she is really sweet!) and the younger works are all great too. Except for the elder man who was so blatantly rude to me! He was making me a burger and asked me what I wanted on it. I looked down to see what condiments were available and before I could respond (literally maybe 4-5 seconds), he started getting agitated and kept repeating while raising his voice, "HURRY UP, WHAT DO YOU WANT." I was baffled, I was like "umm..I'm just trying to see..." interrupts me and repeats it again and adds " HURRY UP, tell me so I can make your burger."! I wanted to say, "You're not giving me an opportunity, how am I suppose to respond if you keep cutting me off! Damn!" But I'm not confrontational and don't like talking back to seniors. But I was so overwhelmed, frustrated and upset with how he treated me. I got my burger said thank you and left. I do like the food and the rest of the service otherwise. However, it goes without saying, they need to treat their customers with respect and courtesy. Don't abuse your customers! The food here always tastes great. My go-to is the Filet Chicken w/ salad and Chicken Dinner. The fries are always fresh and light (the oil doesn't over power the fries). Cannot go wrong with these 3 items. Looking forward to trying out the home made burger next. But what really sets this restaurant apart from others is the customer service. They are simply the most fair and generous business owners I've come across. Customers recognize this and it shows in the loyalty of their return customers. I've noticed on several occasions how the staff recognize their customers and are able to connect with them on a personal level. Great spot for diner style Greek food and burgers. Prices are reasonable and service is quick and efficient due to the many staff behind the counter. Older staff can be a bit grumpy at times. I've been eyeing it for months from the windows of SBucks which shares the same parking lot, I don't know what took me so long to try it out! We ordered a chicken souvlaki dinner (Rice, roasted potatoes, Greek salad, chicken souvlaki, side of tzatziki) a small Greek salad, and an order of onion rings.
